Who doesn’t love Finding Nemo or Finding Dory. These are two popular movies in our home and we are a bit obsessed. In an effort to work on our Summer Bucket List this summer, we wanted to tackle this fun Finding Dory Homemade Squirt Playdough.

Supplies Needed:

  • 2 cup of plain white flour
  • 3/4 cup of salt
  • 1 tbs oil (also consider an essential oil)
  • 1 cup of cold water
  • 2-3 drops of green food coloring
  • Fine crafting glitter (optional)

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl mix the flour, salt, oil, and cold water together. You will notice the ingredients begin to clump up. Continue mixing until a soft dough forms.
  2. Because you are using less salt than most play dough recipes, you will notice that the dough stays clumpy. This is what will give it the coral effect. If you wish for smoother dough, add an extra ¼ cup of salt.
  3. Add 2-3 drops of food coloring to the dough. Continue to knead the dough until the color spreads to your liking.
  4. Finish off your dough by adding an optional sprinkle of glitter.Your coral play dough can now be enjoyed. When not in use, place it in an airtight container. It should last for several weeks as long as it doesn’t have the chance to dry out.

Tangerine Lip Balm

We {heart} Lip Balm! This is one our favorites! You only need a small amount for each container so, we make them in bulk to give as gifts at Birthday Parties, Teacher Appreciation and have a stash on hand for ourselves too! We love to use this throughout the day and especially before bed at night. We use Essential Oils and only natural ingredients so there’s no artificial colors, fillers or flavors which puts my mind at ease when the kids want to use it, which is all the time! Give your lips a refreshing treat with this All-Natural Lip Balm. Tangerine and Lime Essential Oils both have great benefits for your body, especially in combination with the coconut & sweet almond oils. The results yield a very soft balm for your lips that leaves them feeling great!

TIP: Have all your ingredients set out ahead of time and read through these directions first so you have an idea of how to do this accurately.

The Tools:

  • Double Boiler
  • Measuring spoons & cups
  • A metal spoon
  • optional: a knife if you’re using the beeswax that comes in a big brick instead of the pastilles

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz. beeswax
  • 2 tbsp. unrefined coconut oil
  • 1 tsp sweet almond oil
  • 15 drops of pure tangerine essential oil
  • 5 drops of pure lime essential oil (use your judgement as to how strong, but the 20 is fairly mild so you can always add another few if you wish)
  • Lip balm containers – I used the small heart containers for this & it made 22 total.

Directions:

  1. The best way to start is to have your containers already lined up, with the lids removed, as once the wax is ready, it’s a pain to have to rush and do it then.
  2. Next, melt your beeswax in the double boiler over medium heat. Once it starts to boil just put it on a low setting and leave it there as you stir the wax. Stir every few minutes
  3. until the beeswax is fully melted into a nice, smooth with no lumps. (Melting time will vary depending on which type of beeswax you’re using).
  4. Next, add in your coconut oil, and stir until melted fully into wax. Then add your sweet almond oil, & finally the lime & tangerine essential oils.
  5. Leave the water on the lowest setting to keep it warm while you fill, because if it starts to harden at all, you will need to put it back on the water and let it melt again. It will start firming up fairly fast, so I normally have to do this before I get to the end of it.
  6. Now you are just about set! Just let the balm set up for an hour or so & then you can apply your lids & labels!

Enjoy!

Hard Boiled Egg Snowman on Frugal Coupon LIving

Boiled Egg Snowmen

Kids love to be in the kitchen creating, learning and having fun! As much as we love making sweet treats with them, sometimes we want a healthier food craft. These Boiled Egg Snowmen aren’t only too cute but, they’re a great source of protein and quick to make. Build your little snowman, wrap an onion scarf around his neck, add peppercorn eyes and buttons, use pretzel sticks for the arms and don’t forget that cute carrot hat and nose. We love these little snowmen and think your little ones will too!

Ingredients:

  • 6 Boiled Jumbo Eggs
  • 6 Boiled Medium Eggs
  • 2 Carrots
  • Peppercorns
  • Pretzel Sticks
  • Green onion stems

Directions:

  1. Slice off a small section from top and bottom of each egg to allow them to stand and stack neatly.
  2. If you are going to serve soon, you can use pretzel sticks to join each piece and they will be completely edible. If they need to sit for a while, the pretzels will become to soggy, so you will have to use wooden skewers.
  3. Even if you are using pretzels, you will need to pierce the egg and carrot before pushing pretzels through.
  4. Push a pretzel stick down into large egg to make body and place smaller egg on top.
  5. Peel carrots.
  6. Slice the thick end of carrot into six 1/8″ slices to use as hat brims.
  7. Slice middle of carrot (or smaller carrot) into six 3/4-1″ slices for top of hat.
  8. Use skewer to “pre-drill” hole in carrots to allow pretzel to connect them with remainder of stick extending below brim.
  9. Push assembled hat down onto head.
  10. Take the small end of a carrot (about 1/2″) and cut lengthwise into six sections to use as noses.
  11. Using a toothpick, pierce “face” egg in the middle and insert the nose.
Pierce for the two eyes and four spots to make a mouth and press in peppercorns.
  12. Pierce the “body” egg three spots to make buttons and press in peppercorns.
  13. Break a pretzel in half and insert a piece in each side of the body to make arms.
  14. You can optionally use green onion stems to make a hat band and scarf.
  15. Split the green tube and open it up.
  16. Gently scrape the blade along the inside of the opened stem to remove stiffness.
  17. Trim the softened piece to make scarf or hatband and wrap in place.
