printable spring scavenger hunt set

As soon as the fall and winter seasons hit, our calendars become filled with activity. However, coming out of the winter months might feel a little bit slower as we are all frozen from short days and cold months.  If you are looking for a few fun activities to do this spring with your family try a spring scavenger hunt! There are multiple ways to go about this. You can do a sprint scavenger hunt list with pictures for younger kids or you can do something fun and ab it more challenging for older kids. These can include fun outdoor riddles children last to solve in order to find the prize upon finishing. Or toss your hands in the area and do a scavenger hunt that is included every spring – hint, it includes little things called eggs.

How to create a spring scavenger hunt

One of the biggest scavenger hunts occurs every spring. In fact, it’s so common most of us don’t recognize it as a scavenger hunt. Spring always brings an Easter Egg Hunt as we scavenge the group for plastic little eggs. Because of this treasure hunt spring tradition, it’s easy to create a scavenger hunt in spring. In fact, if you don’t feel like putting together your own easter egg hunt, you can find one at schools, churches, and community parks most everywhere. It’s convenient and allows us to bring a few spring memories to our kids. If you want to put together your own spring scavenger hunt, then that can be accomplished too.

What are good items for a scavenger hunt?

Items needed for a scavenger hunt are different for each season and theme. A birthday scavenger hunt looks much different than a grocery store scavenger hunt. Common things needed or most scavenger hunts include…

  • Clue cards or a checklist
  • Prizes
  • Bags for collected items
  • Pencils, pens, crayons
  • Timer (for timed scavenger hunt races)

How do you make a simple scavenger hunt?

It’s easy to put together a scavenger hunt especially when you can easily access printable scavenger hunts.  To put together an easy scavenger hunt, set up the following scavenger hunt plan.

  1. Download and print your scavenger hunt (s) clue cards and or checklists.
  2. Scout out a location. For a spring scavenger hunt, have a backyard, park, or playground.
  3. Take a look at your lists. Are all items able to be found? If not cross out items that don’t work or omit the clues that don’t fit your outdoor scavenger hunt setting.
  4. If this is a scavenger hunt with clues, hide your clues in order. Briefly run through the scavenger hunt to make sure it works.
  5. With each clue hide fun prizes or one big prize at the end. If it’s a checklist scavenger hunt, hold on to the prizes.

Now that you are ready for a scavenger hunt during spring, take a look at these printable spring scavenger hunt ideas. Grab the printable hunt that is best for your crew.

Spring Scavenger Hunt Printable Set

They are a great addition to a Spring Bucket List for the family! The checklist with both words or pictures makes it perfect for toddlers all the way to elementary age kids. (Don’t worry – If you need something more challenging for teens and older kids, we have more of that below.)

Take a look at everything that is included in this printable spring scavenger hunt set.

Spring Scavenger Hunt Checklist

Grab this set for toddlers or preschoolers who cannot yet read. Better yet, if you have younger kids or kindergartners who are learning to write, as part of the checklist spring scavenger hunt, have them write the word below the image when they find the item. Even if they misspell, they can practice phonics by sounding out the letters.

Easter Scavenger Hunt Checklist

Easter is a major holiday in spring. Grab this Easter Scavenger Hunt checklist as you discover things that have an answer theme. Perhaps with each item that your child finds, hand them an Easter Egg as the prize. This can be filled with Easter candy, small toys, stickers, or even money (older kids will not mind that!) If you are limited on the number of eggs in the Easter Basket, this will make it an even larger challenge as siblings will race in a friendly Easter Egg competition to find the most items on their checklist before their brother or sister. Give younger kids a head start!

Signs of Spring Scavenger Hunt for the Neighborhood

This outdoor scavenger hunt includes a list of things you might find in your own backyard or front yard. Take a walk around your environment. Walk down the road, visit a park or a field and see how many things you can check off this neighborhood checklist.

Have you tried the convenience of easily ordering groceries online? Learn how Giant Delivery works, the benefits of online grocery shopping, and how to save on groceries with an exclusive Giant coupon code today!

how to order groceries with giant delievery

This post has been updated to reflect a name change – Peapod delivery is not Giant delivery!

Although grocery shopping can take a lot of time and energy, I have found a way around all of this. As many of you know, I do not grocery shop anymore. I use Giant grocery delivery service to help me keep groceries in my house. The end result is I get more time with my family, which I love. I also save money, which I also love…. obviously, Frugal Coupon Living!

I began online grocery shopping when I was on bed rest with twins in 2018. I loved it so much, I never went back. Did you know that online grocery sales will surpass 20% of the overall U.S. grocery retail market in the next five years, at least several years before pre-pandemic projections, a new Mercatus/Incisiv study predicts? It seems a lot of people are enjoying the convenience of groceries delivered straight to their front porches.

If time with your family and saving money is something you covet, then ordering groceries online might be for you too! Take a look at Giant Delivery formerly called Peapod and see how you can save on groceries today!

How Does Giant Food Delivery Work?

Are you located in the Delaware, Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia regions? A grocery delivery service that may just change the way you live your life is called Giant Delivery formerly Peapod. You can grocery shop from anywhere and get it delivered when it’s right for you. It’s easy to shop, schedule your delivery, and then get your groceries delivered to your home or scheduled for store pick-up.

Follow along as we “unbox” Giant Food Delivery to see if it’s something you can benefit from.

Giant Delivery Cost & Requirements

When making an adjustment to your home, like the way you grocery shop, it is important to understand the service fees. I have great news, it is possible to get groceries delivered to your home for free depending on the day of the week you choose.

Midweek orders are your friend as there are no midweek delivery fees. There are times that cost, however so pay attention to these details.

  • Online orders delivered Tuesday-Thursday are fee-free.
  • All other days (Friday-Monday) have a grocery delivery fee of just $3.95.
  • A $30 purchase is all that’s required to get your groceries delivered to you.
  • 100% contactless delivery

Grocery delivery is available each day from 6 AM – 10 PM.

Giant Pass

If you find you are ordering groceries frequently in these off hours, you can get Giant Pass. Pay monthly or yearly to get all grocery delivery feeds saved. This can look at $12.95/month or $99/year (as low as $8.25/month.)

With this online grocery delivery membership plan, I typically have groceries delivered 3xs a week. If I find my order is very small and I need to add more products to hit that minimum order requirements, I  typically add coffee (or another nonperishable staple) to my cart.  This Delivery Pass service is similar to Amazon Prime and costs $139 a year.

It is important to note, you do not have to be a Giant Pass member to get groceries delivered. You can pay the delivery fee mentioned above if you would like.

Giant Pickup

Of course, you are welcome to pick up groceries too. Giant pickup orders offer 100% contactless pick-up. Store associates come to your car with your groceries. Giant pick-up orders are delivered when you are parked conveniently in designated parking spots. Instead of shopping yourself, try this resource and drive to your local grocery market to grab your groceries using pickup services. There are no pickup fees.

  • Free grocery pickup plus no pickup order minimums.
  • Same-day service is available.
  • 100% contactless pickup.

Free pickup is available at participating stores from 8 AM – 9 PM ET.

Giant Grocery Aisle

If you are going to order fresh groceries from Giant, you may want to know what types of items the grocery app carries. Giant direct actually carries a lot of in-store favorites.

Here are the items or grocery aisles that are available:

  • Fresh produce
  • Quality seafood
  • Quality meats
  • Organic choices
  • Natural choices
  • Store brands
  • Meal kits
  • Specialty products
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Health and beauty
  • Pet care
  • Household products
  • Paper goods

The grocery list pretty much covers the same grocery aisles you would have in your own local store. When I need an item that is available in the store but not online, I simply make a request and I have seen that item show up in the online store.

You can filter through the options available through Giant. No matter if you’re looking for organic produce or weekly specials, you can find it all or something similar.

Are Giant Grocery prices the same as in-store?

Yes and no. I have compared and sometimes the store has better prices.  Additionally, there are different sales. Sometimes online is better. However, I have found if there is a price difference, online vs in-store, it doesn’t wave the benefit I get from using the online grocery delivery service.

My suggestion to you is to create the same shopping list two weeks in a row. One week, shop online. Another week shop in the store. What was your price difference? Is that price difference worth the at-home delivery? For me, it was. I might have been spending a couple more dollars for the convenience and time with my family.

Giant Delivery Savings

Want o save money on groceries? Your first step is to sign up for Giant Grocery Delivery via my referral code. This exclusive Giant Promo Code will give you the following benefits…

  • $30 off a $60 Grocery Delivery

It’s almost impossible to find 50% off your grocery order these days. That is a free $30 order to top brands and needs.

Grocery Delivery App

After you are signed up for Giant, download the Giant grocery delivery app through the Google Play Store or through the Apple Store to order at any time. Then the magic will begin, order groceries from anywhere you can access your phone, wi-fi, cell service, you name it!

As you continue to shop, sign up for their flex grocery rewards and pay attention to their digital coupons savings tap. You can add your own savings and watch promo codes and grocery promotions to save all the time.

With ease and convenience, I have even ordered groceries to my house from another country. This was great when my husband and I traveled to India but we had the grandparents at home. I could send them what they needed and no one had to leave the house while taking care of 5 young kids!

Enjoy market delivery on your terms. You can have your groceries delivered the next day or even the same day, depending on the area in which you live.

Why I Love Giant Online Grocery Ordering

I personally use Giant Online Grocery Ordering because it works wonderfully with my schedule! I do not grocery shop in stores. This is why I rely on Giant to help me out. In fact, if I see I have a grocery need for the next day, I can get my groceries delivered even before my morning alarm clock goes off – hello last minute school needs!

I like to say that this grocery delivery service helps save me time and money.  The time-saving benefits of online shopping are obvious. I save time because I am not in the store. I save money because I am not buying things I see on display. I only order what I need, which is awesome!

I do forget things. Let’s not forget that I can order all day long. This is less time than running to the store over and over. I just keep adding items to my cart as I think of things throughout the day and then I submit the order when I am ready. This gives me more time with my family, which is why makes me super happy! More time with my family is what truly matters in the end.

As for saving money, let me further explain how those dollars are adding up. Sometimes the items are a few cents more. I am okay with this because I am saving money. How am I saving money? I am buying less. I am buying what my family immediately needs. I am not ending up at the grocery store hungry, filling my cart with three containers of OREOs and a bag of chips.

My husband and I love the Flexible Points Available. We can use these grocery rewards on grocery savings, gas savings, special offers, and charity donations. There are lots of rewards that meet the needs of everyone.  We personally use these giant points for the Shell gas Sation. It isn’t uncommon for me to get up to $2 off Each Gallon of Gas! Not only am I saving in the store, but I am also saving out of the store too!

If it isn’t a part of my meal plans, it doesn’t get added to my cart. That saves me money: it also saves me calories – no?

Giant Customer Service

“Hi Peapod!” It’s the choral expression my three boys give when greeting Giant multiple times a week at the door. The drivers are friendly and professional and are always very engaging with my boys.

Why do they express peapod? Well, we have been using this service for three years and though the name has changed, the chorus of hunger boys has not.

It’s important to know that Giant has 100% satisfaction guaranteed. If you are not happy, Giant Grocery is always great about making sure it’s right. You can call or email Giant about problems with your delivery order.

Problems that I have had with my Giant Delivers order are the wrong groceries, broken eggs, missing groceries, or smashed bread. This is not a frequent problem and each time this issue has occurred, Giant has made this issue right and refunded my money or sent back out the right groceries.

Giant Delivery Phone Number

It’s very easy to contact Giant Grocery Delivery. The Giant phone number for grocery delivery customer service is

888-469-4426

The hours of operation for groceries are 7 AM to 10 PM ET each day, however, the hours for customer service vary.

Monday – Friday: 8 AM – 7 PM ET

Saturday: 8 AM – 5 PM ET

Sunday:  Closed

If there is a long waiting list on the phone, they will allow you to leave your number and call you back.

In addition to calling Giant Grocery, you can also quickly access all you need online. Using the Giant Delivery App or website page, you may email customer service at any time.

I love that Giant Company Grocery Stores are focused on customer service and making sure you are happy in the end.

Have you ever used Giant Delivery Service? What did you think about your digital grocery shopping experience? Let us know by leaving a comment ton the blog post. We would love to hear your thoughts!

Teens are the best age group for birthday party games.  They understand the rules, they are really competitive and they offer a good alternative to getting in trouble. The games have to be challenging enough to keep the teens engaged, but not so difficult that they get frustrated and give up. The key is to find games that are just the right mix of silly and challenging. That’s where we can help.

Let’s talk about teen party ideas including ideas for venues, party foods and of course, teen party games!

Planning Teen a Teen Party

If you’re planning a party for teens, the first step is to come up with a theme. Teens love a good theme and themed parties don’t mean you have to get dressed up and decked out. It can be anything from a glow-in-the-dark party, or pool party to a scavenger hunt.

Once your teen party theme idea is established, you want to get to planning. Here are a few basic steps for planning the actual party:

Choose a date and time

Teens tend to be busy, so it’s important to pick a date and time that works for everyone. The best times for teen birthday parties are in the afternoon or evening. Calculate the hours. How long can you busy a teen before they just go berserk?

You can see some of our favorite teen party digital invites (in our photo scavenger hunt blog post.)

Pick a location

The location of the party will depend on the theme. The games can take place inside out outside, just make sure you have enough room for movement.

Examples of teenage birthday party locations include…

  • Skating Ring
  • Movie Theater
  • Backyard
  • Public Park
  • Escape Room
  • Trampoline Park
  • Basketball Court
  • Go-Cart Track
  • Golf Course
  • Warehouse

You can save money on the party by hosting the at your house, in your backyard or at a local park. If it’s a public park, see if the county requires you to rent a pavilion for special occasions.

Decide on food and drinks

You simply cannot have a teen party without proper food and drinks. Ask the teenagers what their favorite snack foods are beforehand! However, if you are on the search for cheap food for a teenage party, buying pizza, drinks, and lots of candy and chips is likely enough. You might have fun adding in some cute birthday party foods that might involve a little more effort. Decide on party food that fits them or set up some food stations like something you might have at a backyard movie night.

Example easy party food for teenagers include…

  • Pizza
  • Chips
  • Candy
  • Soda
  • Brownies
  • Tacos

Pass the Orange

pass the orange teen party game

This is a classic party game with a twist. All you need is an orange and a group of willing participants. The goal of the game is to keep the orange from hitting the ground. You can do this by passing it around, but you can only use your chin. Split into multiple teams just make sure that each team has an equal number of players. The first team to drop the orange loses. This game causes you to get extra close… kind of like a fun twist on spin the bottle close only without kissing! This circular relay race contest might not be best for a church youth group!

How to Play: For this game, split players into two teams. Get an orange and sit everyone in a circle, or stand in a line. The game is simple: you need to put the orange under the chin of the first person, who must then pass it to the next person and place it under their chin, without using your hands. The first team to finish wins.

Supplies: Oranges.

Donuts on a String

donuts on a string teen party game

This kids game is sure to bring out the laughter. You’ll need some donuts and string for this one. The object of the game is to eat the donut without using your hands. The first person to finish their donut wins! Prizes include extra donuts or just the declaration of being the winner!

How to Play: Tie the string on the donuts (one for each guest) and hang them from a clothes line, curtain rod or anything that is available. Each player stands beneath a single donut. On the mark of ‘go’ the players begin to eat their donuts using only their mouth. The first player to finish their doughnut wins.

Supplies: Donuts, string, something to hang from.

Lawn Twister

lawn twister game idea for teens

This is a classic game with a twist. All you need is some spray paint, an open space, and maybe a tarp. Play the game everyone loves, but outside! This game is tons of fun and brings back childhood nostalgia. You can twist it up by adding some shaving cream to each circle. Try not to slip! Now this is one of those teenage party fun games everyone will love!

How to Play: Use spray paint to paint the various circles needed to play the popular lawn Twister game. You can use the twister board from the board game or just have caller who calls out various commands. If you have enough space inside, you can spread a piece of tarp and paint the colored circles on a piece of tarp.

Supplies: Twister mat, twister board, tarp, spray paint.

Marshmallow Pong

how to play marshmallow pong game for teens

This is a take on beer pong, but non-alcoholic. You’ll need some plastic cups and instead of ping pong balls, use marshmallows. The goal is to bounce the marshmallow into the other team’s cup. If they catch it, you get a point.

How to Play: This fun teen game is played like adult beer pong, only teen-friendly, with marshmallows. Line Six cups in a pyramid or triangle shape on opposite sides of a table/area. Each team takes a turn throwing a marshmallow into the other team’s cups. Once a marshmallow lands in a cup, the cup is taken away and the opponent then eats the contents of the cup (if not dirty.) There is no winner. Everyone is a winner for eating the prize – marshmallows.

Supplies: Plastic cups, marshmallows.

Worm Pie

minute to win it pie game for teens

If you love a good 60 second game, this one is it. It also makes the best photos for a teen party. Get ready to get messy trying to hunt the gummy worms lost deep in the whipped cream pie.

Do You Know Your Family Game

So what is this family trivia game? Do you know your family is a family-friendly game filled with questions and challenges.  The family-friendly trivia questions require players to ask a question about themselves and their family to answer the questions. For added fun, there are challenge chards or action cards. The fun game cards are quick and easy so toddlers and grandparents are welcome to join in on the fun.

Let’s take a look at game trivia questions and family challenges that are a great fit for the entire family.

do you know your family game printable worksheets and trivia game cards activities

How Well Do You Know Your Family Questions

If you are familiar with family conversation starter questions, then you will understand how these family game cards work. Typically conversation cards for families require someone to answer in a way that is telling about oneself. However, for a fun twist, in this Do you really know your family? game, the fun questions are not introspective. Instead, they require a player to ask interesting questions and the rest of the family answers the questions in observance of the person asking the question.

Let’s look at a few family trivia card questions…

  • Question: Who is my favorite teacher?
  • Question: Which song do I know the most words to?
  • Question: If I could have a superpower, what would it be?

If a family member gets the right answer, they get to keep the card.

Mini Family Challenges

To step up the excitement, there are competitive challenges in this fun card game for families. This allows, in addition to questions, a little bit of friendly competition and action via fun challenges to do at home.

These fun challenges include supplies found in the home but if there is something you do not have, it can easily be replaced with something else so there is no need to buy more than the game itself.

Examples of family-friendly challenge cards include…

  • Action: Start at a table with chairs. At go, all players must get up and run around the house. The first player back to their chair wins the card.
  • Action: All players fold paper airplanes. The paper plane that flies the furthest gets to keep the card.
  • Action: See which player can stack the most coins in 30 seconds using only one hand. The winner takes the card.

In each of these frantic family fun competitions, the winner is the first person to finish and takes the card.

Do You Know Your Family Game Instructions

Now that you are ready to play, it’s important to know the instructions. The how well do you know your family game instructions are rather simple. The game objective is to collect the most cards by the time the game is through.

To begin, download and print the do you really know me questions and actions. There is an editable page you can use to personalize your own questions and challenges. Once printed, you may choose to laminate your family game card set. This will help you reuse the set over and over. (However, if you don’t, save it to your computer to print as often as you would like.)

Cut your set of cards up to create a deck of cards. You may divide your conversation starter cards and action cards by card type or keep them as one complete set.

Start with the youngest player. Allow them to draw a card from the deck and ask a question or offer a family challenge. In challenges, the first to complete the challenge correctly gets the card. In game questions, the first to answer correctly gets to keep the card.

Make sure everyone has equal playing time.  Go around the circle until you exhaust the deck or reach a time limit. At the end of the game, count your cards.

The player that has the most cards wins the game and REALLY KNOWS THEIR FAMILY!

You can twist up this game in various ways. Ideas for playing include…

  • Play kids vs parents – which set of family members will get the glory of the win?
  • Play vs the clock – create rapid-fire questions with each answer or challenge having a time limit.
  • Play in pairs – pair up players especially if younger players might need older kids or adults to help them.
  • Play in teams – this can be boys verse girls, age groups, generations, and more

Hey Maxxinistas! Take a look at how to get designer brands for less. Follow these Tips for T.J.Maxx The Runway Collection. Your resale might even find you spending nothing but getting at least a wear or two out of a something special! Get the max for the minimum… maybe even make money (potential income)!

how to shop t.j. maxx the runway collection for less

You know me… chasing high-end, for less.

I have had quite a struggle finding enough dresses for a multi-event Cuban wedding in Miami. First, my everyday style is pajama wear. Second, I have a large family and it gets pricy trying to dress everyone.

After months of preparing ahead, I stumbled on a little secret… The Runway Collection at T.J.Maxx carries many of the SAME ITEMS found in high-end stores including Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Anthropologie, etc. That means I could 1.) Get what I love 2.) Not spend too much 3.) If I desired, resell it for almost the same price I purchased it for on a place like Poshmark (sign up and use code LANGSTONA for $10) or thredUP.

How to shop designer brands at T.J. Maxx

First, go to https://tjmaxx.tjx.com/store/shop/runway/. When shopping for designer brands on T.J.Maxx online, I knew the brands I liked.

Second, in the search bar, enter the brand names you like.

Next, began saving dresses by adding items you like to your cart.

This next step is very important. You want to compare sizing and styling to high-end brand-name stores.

For example, once, I had a good runway selection of discount dresses that I liked, I went to Google and found the same dresses in high end department stores.

  • Nordstrom
  • Lord and Taylor
  • Neiman Marcus
  • Saks Fifth Avenue
  • Anthropologie

On these websites, I read reviews, compared sizing, and looked at review photos of how others styled the high end products I liked. If I could not find that exact dress, I looked for similar styles.

Another resource that was very helpful in comparing how others felt the dress fit was Rent the Runway. They have 100s of photos. Sometimes they even have the dress for sale, but I found the used dress was even more than the TJMaxx price.

Comparing the dresses I liked to designer dress reviews of others helped me narrow down my choices in styles, sizing and brands. Most of the dresses I found were still be sold for the retail price at these high end department stores.

Keep in mind, the inventory is often low. If you have found your size, grab the item while you can. You can always return it if you decide you do not like it. Just be aware of the T.J. Maxx return policy.

T.J. Maxx Runway Tips

Since I shared with you the steps I took to save on my brand name dresses, take a look at my own tips and T.J. Maxx Runway review purchases two brand name dresses.

First, want to know something I really learned while shopping online. The MSRP (manufacturer-suggested retail price) is actually much higher than what T.J. Maxx shows. This was surprising. T.J. Maxx was selling their savings short. Even when the price tag arrived, the label was higher than what they listed online.

High End Designer Gown

The first item I picked up was a discounted luxury gown for a black-tie wedding. I knew I likely wanted the brand Mac Duggal. When I did my research, this was the brand over and over that had dresses I loved.

T.j. Maxx rent the runway savings mac duggal

Sometimes T.J. Maxx had a number of Mac Duggal dresses, other times a small selection. When I found this yellow Mac Duggal Floral Gown With Cut Outs And Ruffle Sleeve, I feel and love and felt it was the perfect style for Miami.

Mac Duggal Dresses on Nordstrom Online

I compared around the web and look at the price I got at T.J. Maxx versus online at Nordstrom. This item was also in two colors (not yellow) on Rent the Runway and help me find the perfect size.

Notice a few things. T.J. Maxx lists this dress for $199.99 from $400. However, even listed at Nordstrom it is $598 (not the $400 TJMaxx lists.) That’s a huge savings!

High End Cocktail Dress

The next dress I needed was a cocktail group. In a shared Grandmillenial Facebook group I am in, people were talking about dresses for weddings. My eyes flew to the thread as I knew I needed a few more dresses for multiple events.

Someone mentioned the Hutch tulle dress they saw at Anthropologie was now at T.J. Maxx. They had not even had a chance to get it on sale on Anthro and they were thrilled to see it even less at T.J. I instantly began researching sizing.

Discounted Hutch Dress with Bow Tie on TJMaxx runway

This was one place I had a misstep. When researching sizing, the current dresses on Anthoropologie.com are running small. However, the last season (same style dresses) were running true to size. So I ordered three that were way too big. I did have to quickly re-order when my package arrived. I went to T.J. Maxx and quickly returned my large dresses to stay within my return window and to keep those charges for my next credit card billing cycle.

Anthropologie hutch dress bow tie

Notice the pricing. On Anthropologie ONLINE, the Hutch Bow Dress is $218. At T.J. Maxx, the Hutch Bow Tie Dress is listed at $59.99 from $120.

Discounted Hutch Cocktail Dress at TJ Maxx

The Hutch cocktail dress even arrived with a price tag of $230, so this style of dress was really a lot more! I felt like a Maxxinista with all these savings!

Note: Of the four dresses I received, one did have a zipper that was stubborn. I saw no quality issues on the other items.

T.J. Maxx Runway Stores

If you want to shop TJ Maxx’s Runway section in person, there are a number of T.J. Maxx Runway Store locations. Shop Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Boston, New York City, Washington D.C. Etc.

These are the states where Runway locations are listed on their website.

  • Alabama

  • Arizona

  • California

  • Colorado

  • Connecticut

  • Florida

  • Georgia

  • Hawaii

  • Illinois

  • Kansas

  • Massachusetts

  • Michigan

  • Minnesota

  • Missouri

  • Nevada

  • New Jersey

  • New York

  • North Carolina

  • Ohio

  • Pennsylvania

  • Rhode Island

  • South Carolina

  • Tennessee

  • Texas

  • Virginia

Every T.J. Maxx does not have The Runway. You can see The Runway Stores in each city of each state here.

At the stores, employees and cashiers might be able to tell you when items are further discounted, if they restock T.J. Maxx daily or when new shipments arrive to their T.J. Maxx store locations.

Rumor is to shop Monday when T.J. Maxx restocks products. Also, shop Wednesday mornings as that is when they discount their items even more!

T.J. Maxx Runway Brands

T.J. Maxx does not sell fakes. If you love luxury brands you can save. Examples of just a few of the name brands you can find the best deals on at T.J. Maxx include…

  • Akris

  • Balenciaga

  • Cèline

  • Herve Leger

  • Hutch

  • Givenchy

  • Gucci

  • Mac Duggal

  • Rag and Bone

  • Saint Laurent

  • St. John

  • Stuart Weitzman

  • Valentino

and so many more brands for less.

How to Save More on T.J. Maxx

Example of how to save at T.J. Maxx on Luxury Brand Prices

When you make that purchase, make sure you use a coupon code.

T.J. Maxx Coupon Codes

First, save this T.J. Maxx online coupon code. Use code SHIP89 to get free shipping when you spend $89 or more.

For the cheaper Hutch dress, I bought multiple sizes of the items I purchased. I bought within a 30 day period and then returned within that time, only to not feel the pain of a multi-purchase on my credit card.  This easily got my order to $89 and then I just swung by my local T.J.Maxx (it does not have to be a T.J.Maxx Runway location) to return the dress(es) I did not need.

T.J. Maxx Tag Colors

When shopping in person, know your tags. The tag color can help you understand your savings.

  • White Tag – Regular price
  • Purple Tag – Runway item
  • Blue Tag – Items with coordinating prices
  • Red Tag – Clearance price
  • Yellow Tag – Final markdown

In the case of thredUP, you send in the dress, and they do the selling. They set the price and might be able to sell it for you. The dress is not in your possession. I found thredUP helpful for buying, but for selling my high end items. In fact, I mentioned the Miami wedding I was attending. I bought my teenage girls, eight dresses for under $80. They were brand names that I knew they would fit in from places like Dillards and Macy’s.

Look at these resell prices!

So you want to play card games with the family…

Kid-friendly playing card games are great family activities. What makes them great is they require only one supply… a 52-deck of cards from Ace to King (and perhaps a few enthusiastic players!) • Wild Card: A card that may be designated by the owner to represent any other card. This is often a joker though other cards may be used.
  • Work Pile: Similar to a tableau, a layout of face-up cards sometimes on top of face-down cards. These piles are built in descending order, alternating colors, with an overlapping of the cards.

If this vocabulary list of card terms is intimidating, it’s okay. We include a description of each word in the card game instructions.

What are some fun cards games for families?

standard deck card games for families to play

Now that we realize the benefits of playing card games, let’s take a look at some of the best family card games to play. Many of these card games for families are 2-person card games though most can be played with more. The only single-person card game is Solitaire and if you like solitaire, try Nerts as the concept is very similar only you are playing with opponents.

These deck of card games are great for kids, teens, youth, and even adults (did we include everyone? No the dog can’t play!) We list 20 fun card games families can play. Each includes the number of players and a brief description of the game. The printable playing cards games set will include the full game instructions as well as how to score multiple rounds of each game.

Let the games begin – good luck!

War

War is likely the most popular card game. In the well-known game of War, two or more people battle to win the entire deck of cards.

Number of Players: 2 or more.

How to Play: The goal of war is to win all 52 playing cards. In the play, each player turns up a card at the same time and the player with the higher card takes both cards and puts them, face down, on the bottom of his stack. The game continues until one player has all the cards.

Go Fish

how to play go fish playing card game

The popular card game for children, Go Fish can also be played with a 52-standard deck. Players work to get 4 cards of a kind.

Number of Players: 2 or more.

How to Play: Players ask their opponents for a specific card’s number or face value. If the player gets the cards they asked for, either from the top card of the deck or from another player, then the player gets another turn. After the first player, the next player goes and the game continues. If the player gets four of the same cards, then can put their cards face up in front of them. The goal is to win the most cards.

Old Maid

how to play old maid playing card game

The fun children’s game of Old Maid can be played with a standard deck. Enjoy this classic game by removing one queen from your card deck before passing out the cards.

Number of Players: 2 or more.

How to Play: Similar to Go Fish, the player will pass cards amount, other players. If a player makes a match of two cards, they may lay the match down. The first player to get rid of all their cards, wins. The player with the old maid (remaining unmatched queen) is the loser.

Solitaire

how to play solitaire one person playing card game

Solitaire is the most popular online card game. It can be played most anywhere and only needs one player to play. The classic card game of Solitare has a lot of action with thirteen stacks or places cards can lay. The goal of the game is to move all the cards to four piles in order with the same suit.

Number of Players: One.

How to Play: The objective of Solitaire is to release and play into position certain cards to build up each foundation, in sequence and in a suit, from the ace through the king. Cards are laid out in a unique format including stock, waste, foundations, and a tableau. The goal is to move all the cards to four foundations without getting stuck with no more moves available to play.

Nerts

how to play nerts playing card game

Nerts is also called the Peanuts card game. One is the loneliest number you’ll ever do… If you like the game of Solitaire but have an interest in playing with more than one player, the game of Nerts is for you. Instead of having an individual foundations pile, the pile of Aces is shared by all players and anyone can play on the foundations. In this game of group Solitaire, each player has a deck of cards.

Number of Players: 2 to four.

How to Play:  This is a fast-paced multiplayer card game involving multiple decks of playing cards. It is often described as a competitive form of Solitaire. Players race to get rid of all their cards in their Nerts pile by stacking cards into foundations or work piles. The player who moves the most cards to the foundation’s pile typically has the highest score though being left with a nerts pile at the end of play will cause players to lose points.

Kings Corner

how to play kings corner playing card game

Two or more players will work toward getting the king cards into a corner and then play cards in ascending order K-Q-J-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-A (ace low).

Number of Players: 2 to four.

How to Play: To begin, deal seven cards to each player. Place the remaining cards in the middle of the table as a stockpile and then turn the four top cards over, placing one on each of the four sides of the deck — to the north, south, east, and west. Players will each take turns moving cards around on the board, drawing cards, and unloading cards in their hand. The first person to get rid of all their cards wins.

Crazy Eights

how to play crazy eights card game

The game Crazy 8s gets its unique name because it’s a game where 8s are the wild card. Each player wants to rid their hands of cards.

Number of Players: 2 or more.

How to Play: Each player is dealt five cards at a time. Players take turns to play down a card in a shared discard pile.  The card laid down must match the value of the card under it or the same suit. If they cannot lay down a card, that player must draw a card until they can play. Eights are wild. The first player to rid of all their cards wins. The remaining players total the cards that remain in their hand.

Guts

how to play guts playing card game

Don’t be intimidated by this occasion game. Guts is a actually very fun, family-friendly card game. Don’t let the name fool you. It’s nothing nasty. No vomiting is included.  This easy poker game does include poker chips (or use candy – why not?) and a declaration of being “in” or “out” based on the hand you were dealt. What makes it easier than a 5-card poker casino-style game? In this two-card game, only two cards are dealt before bets are made.

Number of Players: 2 or more.

How to Play: The dealer deals each player two cards. After seeing their two cards, players say “in” or “out” and toss in their ante (candy or poker chips) to the pot. The players show their hands. The best two-card hand wins. If no one has a pair, card combinations are compared. A higher pair trumps a lower pair. A high card and additional single care are then compared side by side first paying attention to the highest card amount opponents and then the additional card amount opponents.

Spoons

how to play spoons playing card game

In this action-packed game, players pass around cards to make four of a kind. Be the last to spell S-P-O-O-N and win the game. Speaking of guts, this game has the potential to make your spill your guts when crazy concoctions are made on a spoon for the looser (this part is optional)

Number of Players: 3 or more.

How to Play: in this quick-thinking game, players pass around cards to their left. Each player lays one card face down to the player beside them. That player picks up, keeps, or passes the card again. The first player that gets four of a kind grabs a spoon. The last player to get a spoon gets a letter. Spell SPOON and you are out of the game.

Hearts

how to play hearts playing card game

Many are familiar with the online card game of Hearts. The goal is to avoid getting hearts or the queen of spades. In this trick-taking game, if you get a hand with the Queen of spades, you get 13 points added to your total. Get a heart and get one point. The exception is when you get all the hearts and the queen of spades gives all your opponents all the points. The lowest points wins.

Number of Players: 3 or more. Four is best.

How to Play: Deal all players with an equal number of cards. Each player takes three cards and passes the card to their neighbor (to their left, right, or across.) The player with the 2 of clubs starts the game. The remaining players play a club, as well. The person who takes that hand last down the next card, any card is possible. All players must play the same suit. If you cannot play a suit you can play a card like a queen of spades or a heart card. In this trick-taking card game, be the player to get the least amount of points when totaled to win the game.

Spades

how to play spades playing card game

Similar to hearts only the goal is to win tricks and end up with the most card and points.

Number of Players: 3 or more. Four is best.

How to Play: Once the cards are equally passed out, each player bids on how many books they can win in the game. Bid more than you actually win and lose points. Players take turns playing cards to win a round. The highest card of a played suit wins however if a player uses a spade, it trumps the hands. Points are calculated at the end of all the rounds and the first player to get to 500 points after consecutive games, wins.

Trash

how to play trash playing card game

The trash game of cards is also card garbage. Start with ten cards in the first round and make it all the way to the last one of trying to get only one card played.

Number of Players: Two or more.

How to Play: Each player gets 10 cards placed face down. Each player gets a turn using their stock deck and discard pile. Players begin to rotate cards in and out of their ten face-down cards to get cards A  (low) to 10 in a face-up position. Jacks are wild, and Kings and Queens are useless. The first player to get to ten cards in a row on their layout, wins.  Play again with a layout of 9, 8, 7… all the way down to one card left to win.

That pile will be part of the snap game. Win all the cards and win the game.

Ninety-Nine

how to play ninety nine playing card game

Number of Players: 3 or 4 players.

How to Play: In this fun game, don’t let the stack of cards get higher than 99. Keep track of the total value of the center pile. However, there are special cards. A can be 1 or 11, 4s can reverse the pile, 9 is zero and kings quickly add the deck to 99.  If you cannot make a play without the value going over 99, the game is over. You lose the hand. The game restarts with the dealer shuffling the deck and passing out more cards.

The play continues until one player goes gin. This happens when one player has all ten cards in a run or set. The points are calculated. Egyptian Rat Screw

How to Play egyptian rat screw

This fun game is a fast-action paced game of cards. Pay attention to the cards that are being laid down because all players have a chance to win the game not only the player playing the hand.

Number of Players: 2 or more.

How to Play: The dealer deals all players with an equal number of cards. Extra cards are placed in a discard pile. If they fail to do this, the player who flipped the face card gets the pile. If they do this, they get the pile. A fun twist to this game is the slap. Lay down two cards in a row of the same value and any player can slap the pile and win the deck. There are a few variations of the slap allowing this card game to become one of strategy. The first player to get all the cards, wins.

When a player is sure they have the best hand, they knock on the table to call the game. Each player gets one last turn to draw and get the best hand. The player that has the least points (furthest from 31 loses a life.) Lose 4 lives and you are out of the game.

Ready to spread joy this spring season? Just like You’ve Been Booed and You’ve Been Elfed, why not something fun for the spring holiday? Leave this “You’ve Been Egged!” Easter gift idea on someone’s yard this weekend! Read on for the full details so you can start a fun Easter tradition surprise Easter Egg hunt with your family and friends!

I have good news. With this Easter tradition, Egging does not refer to the act of throwing eggs at houses, cars, or people. This is the act of paying it forward with a random act of kindness… no malicious and foolish egging someone on here! Let’s learn more about what does you’ve been egged mean?

What is You Have Been Egged?

youve been egged easter tradition

Have you ever been boo-ed? If so you will recognize the idea of this Easter activity. You’ve Been Egged is a fun spring tradition to spread the Easter spirit. It’s the act of surprising unsuspecting neighbors and friends with a small Easter egg hunt and fun surprises.

Similar to ding-dong-ditch only by leaving behind a fun treat for others to enjoy. With this cute idea, friends, family, and neighbors leave unsuspected gifts on someone’s doorstep or yard. They ring the doorbell and allow the recipient to discover the Easter surprise. Then, the lucky receiver is expected to pay it forward in a similar fashion to another person in the neighborhood (or group of friends.)

Wondering how you’ve been egged works? Let me explain the supplies and instructions so you too can do this fun Easter activity this spring.

fun five second rule game ideas printable pdf questions

Do you love to play games with family and friends? If this is the case, then you’re going to love the challenge of 5 Second Games. This mental exercise game isn’t invented by me. However, I  do have several versions to complete the entertainment for your themed party.

What is a 5-second game?

what is a five second game and how to play

The 5 Second Game is a fast-paced and fun word association game. It requires quick thinking and fast talking. In this fun and fast-paced game, you have 5 seconds to come up with three one-word answers. Often, a five-second game is commonly mistaken as a Name 3 game. This is because you have five seconds to quickly name three things.

5 Second Games takes speed and sharp thinking to get points. They’re great for parties, family get-togethers, or just a fun way to spend some extra time with activities between transitions.

What are the 5-second rules?

The 5-second game is a good time. It’s memorable and fun for all. The instructions for this fast-paced game are simple. You have five seconds to name three things in this fun word association game. Sounds easy, right?  Well, while the questions are simple, you need to be careful. This quick guessing game leads to a tongue-tie and easy answers turn into silly answers and lots of laughter.

Generally, the rules of a 5-second game are simple. Take a look at these two options for 5-second game directions.

Objective:

Be the team or individual to score the most points by giving three answers in five seconds.

Option 1:

Sit players in a circle. The youngest player is first in the “Hot Seat,” and the play will move to the right. The player to the left of the Hot Seat player draws a game card and reads it aloud. All cards begin with “Name 3” followed by random categories. For example, the Card may read, “Name 3 ice cream flavors”. As soon as the card is read, the first player answers 3 flavors of ice cream in 5 seconds or under. If you say 3 correct answers before the timer, you get one point. To keep track of points, keep the card in front of you. If the player in the hot seat is only able to name one or two answers before 5 seconds are up, they get no points, and the play moves to the right. For the next attempt, the second player gets 5 seconds to try to answer the same question. The tricky part is that the new player in the Hot Seat cannot use any answers that were previously used for that card. Play continues to the next player and around the circle until someone can name 3 in 5 seconds and wins a point. The person to the right of the original player then becomes the new player in the Hot Seat and gets to start with a different card. The player to their left draws a Card and reads it aloud. And so the play continues.

Option 2:

Play the same as option 1 but allow the game to continue. For example, each person after the first hot seat player must name 3 ice cream flavors without repeating any flavors listed before. This can continue for a while.

The end of the game arrives when you run out of cards (or the end of the party – there are a lot of questions here!) Winners will have the most points. You can have individual winners or team winners. Just make sure you have a prize!

Tip: Consider splitting into smaller groups for a large group of people. Since ridiculous answers can be debated, consider having a game host and team captains for each group. The host (as well as the input from team captains) can help decide what is an acceptable answer and quickly omit funny answers.

What are good 5-second game questions?

five second rule questions printable cards

Five-second games require you to name three things within, you guessed it, five seconds. This requires quick thinking and fast-talking as you react quickly to incoming questions.

  • Name three countries in Europe
  • Name three famous actors
  • Name three colors of the rainbow
  • Name three items you would find in a kitchen
  • Name three members of the Avengers
  • Name three animals that live in the sea
  • Name three body organs
  • Name three Florida cities
  • Name three English words ending in “ly”
  • Name three sports teams from different countries
  • Name three famous Michaels
  • Name three breeds of dogs

The difficulty of the 5-second rule questions can vary based on the game set you choose – junior (or young kids) all the way to adults. In addition, for five-second game questions that have many answers, the question can be passed on to player after player in a game circle.

What do I need for a 5 second game?

The supplies needed for a five-second game are few. you need 5-second game questions like the ones mentioned above and a timer. It’s important that your timer displays seconds and not only minutes. Most smartphones will have a timer you can use to count down from five. if this is not available on your cellphone then pick up a countdown timer with seconds.

Instead of everyone yelling stop, consider using a sound effect when the time stops. This can be accomplished with a timer that makes noise or a game buzzer.

A laminator is an optional supply for your five-second games. If you laminate the set using laminating sheets, you can keep it for a long time. After multiple uses, your cards will still look brand new. After my husband and kids, my laminator is my best friend. A must-have in most homes!
