Having a Holiday Elf has become a beloved holiday tradition for many families. The concept is simple: a small elf doll is placed around the house each day in December, and children are encouraged to find it. The idea is that the elf is reporting back to Santa on the child’s behavior, so it’s a fun way to encourage good behavior in the lead-up to Christmas as well as promote the Christmas spirit!

But what if you want to take having a North Pole to the next level, that’s where the Treasure Hunt for Elf comes in. This is a fun twist on the traditional Elf game that adds an extra layer of excitement and challenge.

You can host a Christmas Scavenger Hunt where instead of simply finding the elf, children are given 22 Christmas-themed rhyming clues that lead them on a hunt around the house. The final clue leads them to the location of the elf, and they get a special prize for solving the puzzle. Alternatively, just like a pirate, you can offer your kids a fun treasure map where children find different things around the home. This seek-and-find elf hunt can be very challenging or quite easy – you determine based on the ability and age of the child.

The Magic of Elf

ideas for elf on the shelf treasure hunt

Christmas elves are a beloved holiday tradition that has captured the hearts of children and adults alike. The magic of a holiday elf lies in the excitement and anticipation that it brings during the holiday season.

For those unfamiliar with the tradition, a small elf doll arrives at a family’s home in early December. The elf is said to have come from the North Pole to keep an eye on children and report back to Santa on their behavior. Each night, the elf returns to the North Pole to give Santa Claus an update, and in the morning, it is found in a new location within the home.

See Frequently Asked Questions.

Children love waking up each morning to search for their elf and see what kind of mischief it has gotten into during the night. From hiding in the Christmas tree to making snow angels in flour on the kitchen counter, the possibilities for elf shenanigans are endless.

The magical Elf goes beyond just the fun of finding the elf each morning. It also encourages children to behave well and be kind to others, as they know their elf is watching and reporting back to Santa. This can be a helpful tool for parents during the often chaotic holiday season.

This Christmas tradition is about bringing joy and excitement to the holiday season, while also promoting good behavior and kindness. It’s no wonder that this tradition has become a beloved part of many families’ holiday celebrations.

Creating a Treasure Hunt for Elf

Creating a treasure hunt can be a fun and exciting activity for the whole family. It requires some planning and creativity, but the end result is a memorable experience that your children will love. Here are some tips for creating your own at-home treasure hunt with an elf.

Choosing Your Elf

The first step in creating a Christmas treasure hunt is choosing your elf. You can either use the elf that comes with the book or purchase a new one. Make sure to choose an elf doll that fits your family’s personality and interests.

Selecting the Perfect Spot

The next step is selecting the perfect hiding spot for your elf. You can choose a different spot each day or have a designated spot for the entire treasure hunt. Make sure the spot is safe and easy for your children to find. In the case of a treasure map, have your Noth Pole visitor at the starting location – the Christmas tree. Alternatively, have your Elf visitor at the end. In this case, X will mark the spot with Elf in the nativity or with Baby Jesus.

Creating the Clues

The most important part of the holiday scavenger hunt is setting up the clues. In a Christmas Scavenger Hunt, the clues can be anything from riddles to puzzles to clue cards. For a Christmas treasure map, you will have items found around the house (for a challenge) or in one room (for an easy hunt.)

Elf on the shelf treasure map scavenger hunt list

These items that your child will find are:

  • Christmas Cookies
  • Christmas Lights
  • Elf glitter
  • Hot Cocoa
  • One Present
  • Candy Canes
  • Coins
  • Baby Jesus

This is not an editable treasure map template. That means the eight scavenger hunt items are final. If you don’t have something, print out something. For example, if you don’t have candy canes in the house – print out five candy cane photos and hide them around the room(s)/home.

Make sure the hiding spots are age-appropriate and not too difficult for your children to solve. Remember to have fun and be creative when creating your treasure hunt. It’s a great way to create lasting memories with your family.

Enhancing the Fun

printable elf on the shelf treasure hunt ideas

To make the Treasure Hunt even more exciting, there are a few things that can be done to enhance the fun. Here are some ideas:

Incorporating Christmas Crafts

One fun idea to make the Treasure Hunt more enjoyable is to incorporate Christmas Elf crafts. This can be done by having the elf leave a craft project for the children to do each day. For example, the elf could leave craft supplies to make a paper snowflake, a homemade ornament, or a Christmas card for a friend or family member. You can also add coloring pages or a holiday kids’ activity pack. This fun activity will not only add to the fun of the treasure hunt but also provide an opportunity for the children to be creative and get into the holiday spirit.

Adding Festive Treats

Another way to enhance the Christmas Treasure Hunt is to add festive treats. In addition to having fun treasures along the scavenger hunt, the elf could leave a small treat or snack each day leading to Christmas for the children to enjoy. This could be a candy cane,  hot chocolate, or a Christmas cookie. Treasure will make the treasure hunt more exciting, but daily treasure will add to the overall holiday experience.

To keep things organized, it might be helpful to create a chart or table to plan out the crafts and treats for each day. An editable  Calendar will ensure that there is a variety of activities and treats throughout the treasure hunt. Additionally, using bold text or bullet points can help highlight important information and make it easier to read and understand.

Overall, incorporating Christmas crafts and adding festive treats are simple ways to make the treasure map for elf even more enjoyable for children.

Safety Tips for the Hunt

When planning a Kids’ Treasure Hunt for Christmas, safety should always be a top priority. Here are some guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Elf Placement Guidelines

When hiding the elf, it’s important to keep in mind the safety of the children participating in the treasure hunt. Here are some guidelines to follow:

  • Avoid placing the prizes and hidden objects in hard-to-reach or dangerous areas, such as high shelves or near electrical outlets.
  • Make sure the elf is visible and not obstructed by any objects that could cause tripping or falling.
  • Keep the elf away from any hazardous materials or objects that could cause harm… this includes pets!

Treasure Hunt Safety

In addition to elf placement, there are other safety considerations to keep in mind during the treasure hunt:

  • Set boundaries for the hunt area and make sure children understand where they are allowed to search – one room, a few rooms, or the entire house!
  • Ensure that children are supervised at all times during the hunt.
  • Avoid using any small objects that could pose a choking hazard for young children.
  • If using Elf Scavenger Hunt clues or riddles, make sure they are age-appropriate and easy to understand or pair younger children with older children to solve the clues.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday treasure hunt for everyone involved.

Christmas Treasure Hunt Printable Map

The Treasure Hunt is a fun and exciting way to bring the holiday spirit to life. By hiding the elf in different locations each day, children can enjoy the thrill of searching for their little friend and finding surprises along the way.

Incorporate Elves into your holiday hunts. Kids will have so much fun hunting the list of items found on the map that Elf brings. Mom and Dad can get creative with the treasure hunt by leaving clues or small gifts for their children to find. This adds an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to the daily search for the elf.

Let’s tell the story of Barbie and The Elf on the Shelf.

Barbie Meets an Elf: The Beginning

Barbie had always been a fan of Christmas, and she loved decorating her house with all sorts of festive ornaments. One year, she decided to add a new member to help her with the Christmas decor family – The Elf on the Shelf. Little did she know that this tiny elf would soon become an integral part of her life, and the two would embark on many adventures together and one day get married.

The First Encounter

It was a cold December morning when Barbie first met her new elf friend. She was sipping her coffee and admiring her Christmas tree when she noticed a small figure perched on one of the Christmas branches. It was The Elf on the Shelf, and he had come to keep an eye on her and report back to Santa.

Barbie was delighted to have the elf in her home, and she quickly introduced herself. The funny Scout Elf, who went by the name Rupert, was shy at first, but he soon warmed up to Barbie’s friendly demeanor. They started in the kitchen baking cookies for Santa. (Photo credit Ellie and Mac)

The two spent the whole day getting to know each other, and Rupert was amazed by Barbie’s kindness and generosity. Of course, under the mistletoe, Santa’s helper and Barbie shared their first kiss. (Photo credit Little Hiccups)

Falling in Love

As the days went by, Rupert grew more and more attached to Barbie. He loved spending time with her and watching her go about her daily routine. The North Pole visitor fell in love with Barbie. He let her know in a candy cane heart letter.

Barbie and her boyfriend spent the next summer at the beach. She dressed as a mermaid and the holiday elf rode the Barbie jet ski.

The Proposal

One day, he decided to take their friendship to the next level and Scout Elf proposed to Barbie. It might look like it moved rather quickly, but we both know elf is a doll and well, Barbie is too. Let’s keep the story rolling, please…

Barbie was taken aback by Scout Elf’s sudden proposal, but she couldn’t deny that she had grown fond of him too. She accepted his proposal, and the two became inseparable. They went on many adventures together, from exploring the North Pole to baking Christmas cookies.

The Wedding

First comes love and then comes marriage… After a few months of blissful dating, Rupert and Barbie decided to tie the knot. They had a beautiful winter wedding, with snowflakes falling gently from the sky and carolers singing in the background. (Photo credit Not Quite Susie)

The ceremony was attended by all of their friends and family, including Santa Claus himself. Their reindeer pet held the sign and acted as the ring bearer.  (Photo credit Polar Square Designs )

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in a cozy cabin in the woods, snuggled up by the fire and sipping hot cocoa and (of course) sugary syrup. They knew that their love would only grow stronger with each passing Christmas season, and they were excited to spend many more holidays together.

In the cabin was a special, couples-only mini marshmallow bath. It was a romantic honeymoon. (Photo credit Source.)

And so, the story of The Elf on the Shelf and Barbie began. They would go on to have many more adventures, bringing joy and laughter to children all over the world.

Barbie’s Dream House Adventures

Barbie’s Dream House is the perfect place for The Elf on the Shelf to have some fun and mischief. After their honeymoon, they settled home and began to enjoy the daily life of being newlyweds.

Here are some ideas to inspire you:

Elf House Tour

Barbie’s Dream House has endless rooms and stories, which means there are plenty of places for The Elf on the Shelf to explore. Create a tour of the house for The Elf on the Shelf, complete with stops at all the best spots. As a member of the Christmas elf moving committee who needs adult elf humor just as much as the kids, you can even make it a little funny and act like you are on MTV Cribs.

Here are some ideas for stops on the tour:

  • The kitchen, where the little guy can cook up some mischief with Barbie’s cooking supplies
  • The living room, where Santa’s helper can relax on the couch and watch TV
  • The bathroom, where the North Pole visitor can take a bubble bath in Barbie’s tub
  • The bedroom, where he can try on Ken’s and/or Barbie’s clothes and accessories
  • The closet, where the tiny red guy can hide in Barbie’s shoes or clothes

Make sure to take plenty of pictures of elf home tour to share with your family and friends.

Barbie Slumber Party

What could be more fun than a slumber party with Barbie and The Elf on the Shelf? Set up a sleeping area for the little guy in Barbie’s room, complete with a mini bed and blankets. Then, have Barbie and the little red guy stay up late playing games, watching movies, and snacking on popcorn and other treats.

To make the slumber party even more fun, create a list of activities for Barbie and Scout Elf to do together. Here are some ideas:

  • Play dress up with Barbie’s clothes and accessories
  • Host a movie night with popcorn
  • Have a pillow fight (Photo credit Travels with Choppy)
  • Tell ghost stories
  • Make friendship bracelets
  • Play board games or card games
  • Play a game of Twister

At the sleepover, everyone can enjoy a roller coaster ride. Elves loves the dryer runs and Barbie and his friends will love the ride too.

For the slumber party idea, incorporate sleepover party games for your child. They can have their own slumber party too. Beside Santa’s helper, you can even have a letterboard note announcing how much sleep was not gotten.

Barbie even let Santa’s helper have a sock sleeping bag slumber party with his best friends – what a doll!

With these ideas, Barbie’s Dream House is sure to be a favorite spot for Elf on the Shelf.

Fashion Frenzy

Barbie’s Wardrobe Raid

Barbie’s wardrobe is a treasure trove of fashionable items that can inspire some creative Elf on the Shelf ideas. Elves can raid Barbie’s closet and use her clothes (or Ken’s clothes – guess he left some behind?) to create fun and unique outfits for themselves. (Photo credit Source)

One idea is to have the holiday elves dress up in Barbie’s clothes and strike a pose on a miniature runway made of cardboard or paper. The little guy can also accessorize with Barbie’s jewelry and shoes for added flair.

Another idea is to have the elf create a mini fashion shoot with Barbie’s clothes. The elf can use a toy camera and set up a scene with a miniature backdrop and photo booth props. This can make for a fun and playful photo opportunity for kids and parents alike.

Fashion Show

The little guy can also put on a fashion show with Barbie’s clothes for the other toys in the playroom. The North Pole visitor can use a makeshift runway and invite other toys to be the audience. Santa’s helper can also make fun commentary about the outfits as they are modeled. Just write down personalized messages using quote boards – oh the things holiday elves might be caught saying! (Photo credit Little Hiccups)

elf on the shelf fashion show with barbie clothes

To make the fashion show even more exciting, elves can create a scorecard and rate each outfit on a scale of 1 to 10. This can encourage kids to get creative and come up with their own unique outfits for the family elf to model.

Overall, raiding Barbie’s wardrobe can be a fun and creative way to come up with The Elf on the Shelf ideas. It can also inspire kids to think outside the box and come up with their own fashion-forward ideas. You can have your child lay out Barbie/Elf clothing the night before of what they want their family elf to wear the next day!

Holiday Mischief

Barbie and The Elf on the Shelf friend have been up to some holiday mischief! Check out these fun hijinks to add some mischievous ideas to your holiday season.

Christmas Tree Chaos

Barbie’s friend decided to have some fun with the Barbie Christmas tree. They rearranged the ornaments and made everything pink, hung boas from the branches, and even tied a string of lights around the tree like a scarf. It was a silly sight, but Barbie couldn’t help but laugh at the cleverness of her mischievous friend and how adorable her pink Christmas tree was.

Snowball Fight

elf on the shelf snow angel snow ball fight

One morning, Barbie woke up to find The Elf on the Shelf friend had started a snowball fight with some of her other dolls. They had created a fort out of pillows and blankets and were having a blast throwing cotton balls and mini marshmallows “snowballs” at each other. Barbie couldn’t resist joining in on the fun and soon the whole house was filled with laughter, snowball fights, and (of course) snow angels. (Photo credit Source)

DIY Elf on the Shelf Igloo House Craft & Idea

Later, The Elf on the Shelf camped out with his friend in a snowball igloo. Of course, Barbie stayed inside because anyone who loves a Dream House doesn’t prefer the great outdoors or anything less than a 5-star hotel.

Barbie’s Convertible Joyride

Barbie’s The Elf on the Shelf friend decided to take Barbie’s convertible for a joyride. They buckled up, put on some shades, and hit the open road. Barbie was shocked when she found her car in a different spot than where she left it, but couldn’t help but laugh when she saw her holiday friend behind the wheel. (Photo credit Crystal & Comp)

Barbie’s Car Repair

After the joyride, Barbie needed to repair the flat tire on her car. Of course, her husband was able to fix Barbie’s car so she and her gal pal could quickly get back on the road.

These Elf on the Shelf ideas with Barbie are sure to bring some holiday cheer and laughter to your home. Get creative and have fun with your own mischievous ideas!

Culinary Capers

The Elf on the Shelf is always looking for new ways to have fun and get into mischief. One way to do that is by teaming up with Barbie in the kitchen. Here are some culinary capers that your Scout Elf can get into with Barbie.

Baking with Barbie

Barbie loves to bake, and she’s always looking for a new recipe to try. Your little elf can help her out by leaving a recipe book open to a page with a delicious-looking dessert. Barbie will be delighted to find the recipe and start baking. The family elf can even leave a note with a suggestion for a fun twist on the recipe. (Photo credit Source)

To take it up a notch, Santa’s helper can rearrange the ingredients in the kitchen. For example, he can replace the sugar with salt or swap the flour with baking powder. Barbie will be in for a surprise when she starts baking or your child starts baking delicious cookies with the ingredients The Elf on the Shelf left out!

Scout Elf’s Candy Cane Craze

The Elf on the Shelf loves candy canes, and he can’t get enough of them during the holiday season. Barbie can help him out by making some candy cane-inspired treats.

One idea is to make candy cane cookies. Barbie can make a simple sugar cookie dough and add crushed candy canes to the mix. The result is a delicious, festive cookie that your Scout Elf will love. Another idea is to make candy cane hot chocolate. Barbie can melt some white chocolate and add crushed candy canes to the mix. She can then add the mixture to hot milk for a delicious and festive drink.

Your visitor can leave a note with a suggestion for a fun twist on the recipe or leave some candy canes for Barbie to use in her baking. The little red guy can also leave a candy cane hunt out for your child to participate in with all the extra candy canes around. Once the candy canes are found, recipes can be made!

The Elf on the Shelf can have a lot of fun in the kitchen with Barbie. Whether they’re baking together or making candy cane-inspired treats, there are plenty of culinary capers to be had.

The Grand Finale

The Elf on the Shelf has been up to mischief for weeks, and now it’s time for the grand finale. Here are two ideas for the final night with Barbie and The Elf on the Shelf.

The Christmas Eve Ball

Barbie loves to dance, and her husband is no exception. For the grand finale, the holiday visitor can set up a mini ballroom with a tiny disco ball, streamers, and balloons. He can even invite some of Barbie’s other dolls to join in the fun. The little red guy can be dressed up in a tuxedo or a ball gown, and he can dance the night away with his new friends.

“Dancing with the girls and partying all night, you should have seen us, it was such a sight!”  Grab this free printable note and add it to your festive Christmas ball.

The Elf on the Shelf and Barbie can have their own special dining table for the winter date. (Photo credit Source and Source)

To make the ball even more special, the elf can leave a note for Barbie inviting her to the ball. The note can be written in glitter or on a fancy piece of paper. Barbie will be delighted to receive an invitation to the Christmas Eve Ball. At the Christmas Eve Ball, make sure to have a kissing booth!

Barbie’s Suprise

And of course, first comes love, then comes marriage, and then comes baby. Grab a cute elf baby for Barbie and her man. There are plenty of cute little baby ideas for the end of your holiday visitor and the year to come.

With these two ideas, The Elf on the Shelf can end his visit with Barbie on a high note. She will be thrilled with the Christmas Eve Ball a baby surprise, and she will remember her time with the Scout Elf fondly until next year.

fun ideas for Sunday school lessons for kids

Sunday school lessons for kids play a crucial role in helping children understand and build a strong foundation in their faith. These lessons range from teaching about the Bible, instilling moral values, to explaining important doctrines for a well-rounded Christian upbringing. With the use of memorable Bible verses, encouraging stories, creative activities, and engaging discussions, children can have an enjoyable and enriching learning experience while forming essential connections with their spiritual community.

When it comes to designing an effective Sunday school curriculum, incorporating interactive lessons and age-appropriate materials is vital. Including holiday special lessons, such as Easter and Christmas, can further enhance the learning experience by delving deeper into the significance of these occasions. To ensure success in fostering children’s spiritual growth, it’s important for teachers to have access to a variety of resources that can guide them in planning their classes and tailoring their teaching methods.

Understanding Sunday School

Sunday school is an essential part of many children’s religious education. It provides an opportunity for kids to learn about their faith, understand biblical stories, and develop a strong foundation in their beliefs. Through engaging and age-appropriate Sunday school lessons, children develop a deeper understanding of their faith while building a strong spiritual foundation.

Lessons in Sunday school usually focus on specific Bible passages or themes that are relevant to children’s lives. By exploring these topics, kids can learn valuable life lessons and understand the importance of following their faith’s teachings. Sunday school lessons are designed to be interactive and engaging, encouraging kids to ask questions, share their thoughts, and participate in discussions.

In addition to teaching kids about their faith, Sunday school also fosters a sense of community among the children. They can form friendships and build connections with their peers who share the same beliefs. This sense of camaraderie can help children feel more comfortable discussing spiritual topics and asking questions about their faith.

When selecting Sunday school lessons for kids, it is important to choose age-appropriate materials that provide clear, understandable information. Lessons should be designed for the specific age group of the children, ensuring that the content is engaging and relevant to their interests and developmental stage.

So why include this curriculum at your church? Sunday school plays a vital role in children’s spiritual education. By providing well-designed, age-appropriate lessons, Sunday schools can effectively teach kids about their faith, help them build a strong spiritual foundation, and foster a sense of community among their peers.

God’s Teachings

Old and New Testaments Sunday school teachings offer valuable chances for children to grasp fundamental teachings from the Bible. Through delving into these narratives and their meanings, children have the chance to enhance their comprehension of God’s nature, the purpose behind His actions, and the core principles of faith and love that He aims to cultivate in every believer.

Stories from Old Testament

The Old Testament contains many stories and lessons integral to the understanding of God’s Teachings in Sunday school. From Noah’s Ark to the plagues of Egypt and the parting of the Red Sea, God’s word has many stories that can be used to teach important youth ministry lessons. In Genesis, we see how God promises through the display of a rainbow to never flood the earth again.

dot marker rainbow template for sunday school

Another children’s story in the Old Testament is the tale of Joseph and God’s plan for him, found in Genesis 37 – 50. In this story, Joseph the Dreamer goes through various trials and tribulations but ultimately forgives his brothers and reunites with his family. The story imparts the valuable teachings of many emotions but ultimately faith and forgiveness.

While discussing the Old Testament, it is essential to highlight the concepts of sin and faith. The story of Adam and Eve, for example, introduces the idea of sin and its consequences. Sunday school lessons may use these stories to illustrate the importance of obeying God’s commandments and how sin separates people from God.

Miracles in New Testament

The New Testament, on the other hand, offers many examples of Jesus’ teachings and miracles. Sunday school lessons focusing on the New Testament can teach children about the significance of Jesus’ resurrection, the gift of salvation, and how it represents God’s power and love for humanity.

One of the most prominent miracles in the New Testament is when Jesus walks on water. This event showcases Jesus’ divine power and helps children understand the need for unwavering faith in God especially when circumstances are scary or bring fear. Lessons about Jesus healing the sick, raising the dead, and feeding the multitudes, also serve to enhance children’s understanding of God’s love, power, and care for His people.

sorting activity fruits of the spirit printable worksheet

Another kids’ Sunday school lesson that is quite popular with many classrooms is the Fruits of the Spirit including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These good fruits are written about by Paul in Galatians 5: 22-23. Preschoolers can color the fruits of the spirit or have an interactive lesson by separating good and bad fruits into different baskets.

Sunday school lessons from both the Old and New Testaments provide meaningful opportunities for children to learn essential teachings from the Bible. By exploring these stories and their messages, children can grow in their knowledge and understanding of God’s character, the love of Christ, the reasons for God, and the principles of faith and love He desires to instill in each believer.

Crafting Sunday School Curriculum

Creating a curriculum tailored to each age group is crucial when it comes to children. Adapting activities to suit the developmental stage of the kids is a primary consideration when creating the best Sunday School lesson for your classroom and set of students.

Building Lesson Plans

Developing a successful Sunday school curriculum involves creating engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans. It’s essential to choose relevant and relatable themes that resonate with the children while also conveying biblical truths. Incorporating various teaching tools such as Bible stories, crafts, activities, and group games can ensure the lessons capture the attention of young learners. Changing the types of Sunday School lessons allows each weekend to be different and unique. Changing up the curriculum will erase cries of “I’m bored” or “we did this already!”

When building lesson plans, it’s crucial to balance the elements of instruction and fun. One approach is to employ creative printable Sunday school lessons that cover both Old Testament and New Testament topics. This gives children an understanding of the entire book of knowledge. These resources often include Bible crafts, Christian activities, object lessons, stories, skits, songs, and children’s ministry games, which can be adapted to suit different age groups.

Adapting for Different Age Groups

A successful Sunday school curriculum caters to the varying needs of children of different ages, from preschoolers to preteens. To effectively tailor lessons for different age groups, educators must consider the abilities and interests of the children involved. When certain lessons and activities feel too mature for a younger audience, combine your Sunday school classes. Pairing older kids with younger kids can add excitement to what is otherwise the norm.

preschool Sunday school lessons felt boards

For preschoolers, it’s essential to emphasize simple and relatable messages that showcase God’s love and how He cares for families, as demonstrated in God Made Families lessons. The preschool Sunday school lesson activities should be engaging, focused on fun, and promote hands-on learning experiences such as crafts, songs, and interactive felt boards. Preschool lessons often are shorter. Sometimes the length of the child’s age. For example, five-year-olds might only receive a five-minute lesson and an easy craft. Activities like LEGOs, building blocks, and play kitchens can be added to the room for transition while preschool children wait for their parents to pick them up.

Elementary school children require more in-depth lessons that help them explore biblical themes and stories. Lesson plans should present more complex messages, such as understanding the importance of family support and guidance. Interactive skits, object lessons, and age-appropriate games are useful tools to teach these concepts while keeping the children engaged. Their Bible crafts can be a little bit more complex when it comes to cutting, gluing, and pasting.

Preteen Sunday school lessons should address the challenges faced by youth in their daily lives while continuing to underscore biblical principles. As they approach adolescence, young learners may benefit from discussions and activities centered on personal application and real-life situations. This group can also take on more involved roles in planning and executing their Sunday school experiences. Incorporate Youth Ministry Games or give them the responsibility of helping younger classes. Having a playroom or access to outdoor games will also teens burn energy.

For all kids, planning an age-appropriate curriculum is important. Most activities can be adapted to an age group. Crafting a Sunday school curriculum involves building engaging lesson plans and adapting them to suit different age groups’ needs. By using a combination of stories, crafts, activities, and games, educators can ensure that their lessons are both informative and enjoyable for all children.

Interactive Lessons

Unique games, crafts, and skits are equally important in creating interactive and fun lesson plans for kids. Changing up the activities each week will keep students on their toes and excited about the anticipation of what’s next!

Incorporating Games

Incorporating games into Sunday School can make learning about the Bible exciting and enjoyable for children. Team games can help children understand the stories and concepts in a fun and engaging manner, while also promoting social interaction and teamwork. Try holiday games for special occasions or take a break from the everyday Christian curriculum and incorporate these fun activities “just because.”  There are many types of games to choose from, such as 5-Second Bible-Themed Games or Bible Minute to Win It Games, where, with quick-thinking, children can act out various biblical stories in 60-second challenges that emphasize specific Bible lessons.

Engaging with Crafts

Creative activities, such as crafts, help children express their thoughts and feelings while learning about faith. Providing hands-on projects related to the Bible can aid in retaining and reinforcing the lessons taught during Sunday School. Examples of engaging Bible crafts include making depictions of biblical events or characters using various art materials, or creating their own illustrated books of Bible stories. Just like our Armor of God Wheel, these hands-on activities give children a chance to interact with biblical narratives, fostering a deeper understanding and personal connection to the stories, as well as promoting focus and mindfulness in a fun and creative way.

Stories and Skits

Storytelling and Bible skits are powerful tools for engaging children during Sunday School lessons. These interactive storytelling methods can make Bible stories come alive, conveying the messages and teachings in an entertaining and memorable way. Young learners enjoy hearing and acting out stories from the Bible, which enables them to immerse themselves in the narrative. Teachers can encourage children to develop their own skits based on biblical stories or characters, allowing them to use their imaginations and better recall the lessons learned. Utilizing stories and skits in Sunday School not only fosters excitement about learning, but also helps children develop communication, cooperation, and dramatic skills.

Holiday Special Lessons

Holidays and special occasions are exciting. Kids typically count down the day until these milestone events. Play on their excitement by creating activities and lessons around both non-Christian and Christian holidays. It’s possible to adapt your lesson to the season or celebration without embracing the holiday itself.

Easter Sunday Teachings

What to put inside resurrection Eggs

Easter Sunday is a significant event in the Christian calendar, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In addition to the traditional Easter Hunt, Sunday school teachers can use engaging and age-appropriate activities to teach children about the meaning of Easter and its relevance to their faith. Lessons often involve telling the Easter story, discussing Jesus’ resurrection through hands-on crafts, and discussing the importance of forgiveness and salvation. One popular activity is resurrection eggs, which helps children understand the events that took place in the garden tomb using traditional Easter Eggs. Additionally, a fun activity for teens is Easter Minute to Win it Games incorporated into your youth group or children’s church Easter Sunday ideas.

Christmas Celebrations

Christmas is another major holiday in the Christian faith, celebrating the birth of Jesus. Sunday school lessons during this time can focus on telling the Nativity story, exploring the significance of key characters, and discussing the importance of giving and love. Activities for children can include creating Nativity scenes, making ornaments, coloring a nativity craft, and singing Christmas carols.

advent bible verses for kids

Introducing a homemade Advent calendar can be a valuable resource for structuring a Christmas-themed curriculum for Sunday school. You can even add Advent Calendar Bible Verses to an Elf doll to keep a Christian Focus Elf on the Shelf Theme. Or use the Christmas scriptures without an Elf and teach through Shepherd on the Search. In this fun Christmas activity, the Shepherd searches for the star at the manger and finds Baby Jesus. It could be a fun addition to your classroom during the Advent season.

Sunday school classrooms are a great place for crafting homemade Christmas gifts. Using candy canes share the Gospel message with the Legend of the Candy Cane poem. Alternatively, use Christmas M&Ms and share the nativity story as gifts for neighbors, teachers, and extended family. These easy and low-cost gifts can also be used for parents or friends that children might want to invite to church.

Special Days Lessons

Aside from Easter and Christmas, there are several other special days and holidays throughout the year that can provide unique teaching opportunities in Sunday schools. These holidays include:

    • Halloween: While many churches might not recognize this pagan holiday, it’s possible to have fun during the fall season and the month of October. Churchs can spend their Sunday school hour with a  fun trunk-or-treat or host a church-approved costume contest with different dress-up ideas like Moses, the books of the Bible, or even a blessing in disguise.
    • Mother’s Day and Father’s Day: These celebrations can be an opportunity for children to learn about the importance of honoring and appreciating their parents. Lessons can include discussions about biblical examples of parenting, as well as creating crafts and scripture cards for parents as a gift and gesture of love and gratitude.
    • Labor Day: This holiday can be used as a teaching moment to discuss the value of hard work and service in a Christian context. Bible object lessons can highlight biblical stories and examples of individuals who demonstrated hard work and dedication, such as Noah building the ark or the Apostle Paul’s missionary journeys.
    • Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving is a great time to recognize 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Give thanks in all circumstances!” This can be done through a thankful tree craft. You also can add on fun Thanksgiving games like Fall Minute to Win it or a Friendsgiving Scavenger Hunt (which could take over the sanctuary or entire church building for a Thanksgiving youth group activity!)
    • Palm Sunday: Marking the beginning of Holy Week, Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Lessons can focus on the events leading up to this moment, as well as the significance of Jesus’ actions and the symbolism of palms. Activities can include creating palm crosses or re-enacting the events of Palm Sunday. Summarize the entire story of Easter using Easter Bible Verses for Kids.
    • Valentine’s Day: The bible is filled with verses about love, kindness, and compassion. Take a look at these Sunday School Valentine’s Day Crafts for a general list of ideas and activities with the kids.

Incorporating these special days and holidays into Sunday school lessons allows children to explore different aspects of their faith and develop a deeper understanding of Christian teachings and traditions.

Children’s Character Building

Sunday School lessons play a vital role in shaping the character of children. The focus on teaching essential values and traits centered around love, attributes of God, God’s love, gratitude, attitude, and pride empowers children to foster good character.

A core principle taught in Sunday School lessons is the importance of love. It is necessary for young children to understand the concept of God’s love for them and the love they should demonstrate towards others. Building on kindness and love allows children to develop a strong foundation to appreciate and respect one another.

Familiarizing children with the attributes of God is another critical aspect of Sunday School lessons. By highlighting the characteristics of God, such as His kindness, patience, and forgiveness, kids can develop an understanding of how these attributes can be reflected in their daily lives.

Gratitude is a cornerstone value that children learn during their Sunday School sessions. Nurturing a sense of gratitude helps children develop an attitude of thankfulness. This basic understanding paves the way for them to appreciate the people and things they have in life, ultimately building harmony and contentment. This idea can be displayed through Gratitude Tree Craft.

Fostering a positive attitude is also essential in nurturing a well-rounded character. Sunday School lessons often emphasize the importance of understanding God’s guidance and applying it when facing life’s challenges. Developing a positive attitude empowers kids with resiliency, perseverance, and determination to face obstacles with confidence.

Lastly, Sunday School lessons address the concept of pride in a balanced manner. They teach children to be humble and modest while recognizing and appreciating their achievements and talents. By instilling humility in kids, Sunday School lessons contribute to the development of good character and behavior.

By instilling values such as love, attributes of God, God’s love, gratitude, attitude, and pride, children will learn to navigate life and contribute positively to their communities. Through the Gospel message of salvation, children can learn that it will not works alone that get them through the gates of Heaven. We are sinners and while character building in Sunday School offers an essential foundation for kids to grow into responsible and kind individuals, it’s important for children to understand they will sometimes fall short.

Famous Biblical Stories

Popular Bible stories are available throughout the web. If you are just getting started and have no idea where to start, take a look at these parables and stories from the New and Old Testaments.

The Lord’s Prayer

In two places in the New Testament, the Lord teaches us how to pray. The shorter version is found in the Gospel According to Luke chapter 11 verses 2 to 4. The longer version, also known as the Sermon on the Mount, is found in the Gospel According to Matthew chapter 6 verses 9 to 13. Teaching kids to pray can be incorporated into a fun kids’ Sunday school lesson via one of two ways – Coloring the 5-finger prayer template, crafting a prayer cube, or learning the Bible Verses of Salvation.

Lessons from Adam and Eve

apple stack bible minute to win it game for adam and eve leasson for kids

In the story of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman created by God, children learn valuable life lessons. They are introduced to the concept of obedience and the consequences of disobeying God. When Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they introduced sin into the world. The story highlights the importance of following God’s commands and making wise choices. Twist up the lesson with a quick one-minute game. Using a traditional Apple Stack Minute to Win it Game as a lesson opener.

Precept from Good Samaritan

The parable of the Good Samaritan teaches us about compassion and love for our neighbors. In this story, a man is beaten by robbers and left on the side of the road. Several people pass by without helping him, but a Samaritan man stops and takes care of the injured man. This lesson teaches children to treat others with kindness, regardless of their background or nationality. For a creative lesson, practice random acts of kindness with fun challenges and activities for your students.

Learning from David and Goliath

ping pong bounce david and goliath sunday schools lesson for teens

The story of David and Goliath showcases the power of faith and trust in God. David, a young shepherd, faces a giant warrior named Goliath. Despite his small stature and lack of experience, David stands against Goliath, armed only with a slingshot and faith in God. David’s bravery and reliance on God teach children the importance of trusting in God, even when facing seemingly insurmountable challenges. To extend a teenage Sunday school lesson, play a fun ping-pong bounce game for teens and older kids.

Inferences from Jesus’ Parables

Jesus taught valuable life lessons through parables. One example is the parable of the Prodigal Son, which tells the story of a son who disrespects his father, squanders his inheritance, and eventually returns home seeking forgiveness. The father welcomes him with open arms, symbolizing God’s unconditional love and forgiveness for those who repent.

gospel message of salvation coloring page for kids

These stories, along with others such as the birth of Jesus, and the New Testament Gospel message of salvation are essential for teaching children important life lessons, morals, and values. They help to lay a strong foundation for a child’s understanding of faith, and being saved, and they can equip them with the tools needed to navigate their world with wisdom and compassion.

In each of these examples, you can see how each lesson can be adapted to a different age group. From Bible skits for older kids to YouTube videos for younger kids to hands-on crafts – learning never stops happening at any age!

Scavenger hunts are a fun and exciting way to engage participants, encourage teamwork and problem-solving skills, and explore new places.
  • Clue-based hunts: Clue-based hunts are a type of scavenger hunt that involves following a series of clues to find the final destination or treasure. Participants are given a clue that leads them to the next clue, and so on until they reach the final destination. Clues can be in the form of rhymping riddles, puzzles, or cryptic messages that require participants to use their problem-solving skills to decipher.
  • Geocaching: Geocaching is a type of scavenger hunt that involves using GPS coordinates to locate hidden containers called “geocaches”. Participants use a GPS-enabled device, such as a smartphone or handheld GPS unit, to navigate to the geocache location. Once the geocache or “cache” is found, participants can sign a logbook, take a trinket, or leave a trinket for the next person to find. Geocaching can be done anywhere in the world, and there are millions of geocaches hidden in various locations, from urban areas to remote wilderness areas. Geocaching is a fun and exciting way to explore new places and engage in outdoor activities while searching for hidden treasures.
  • Puzzle hunts: Puzzle hunts are another popular type of scavenger hunt that involves solving puzzles to find clues and complete the hunt. Similar to the tasks of an escape room, the puzzles can be a variety of types, such as word puzzles, logic puzzles, or visual puzzles.
  • Treasure map hunts: Treasure map hunts are one of the most popular types of scavenger hunts. This type of hunt involves a map that leads participants to a hidden treasure or a prize. The map may be hand-drawn or printed, and it usually contains clues or riddles that must be solved in order to find the treasure. Often X marks the spot at the end of a treasure map hunt.

Planning a Treasure Hunt

When planning a treasure hunt, there are several factors to consider to ensure that the event is successful and enjoyable for all participants.

how to plan a treasure hunt

Here are some important things to keep in mind:

Choosing a Location

The location of the treasure hunt is crucial to its success. The location should be safe, easily accessible, and have enough space for all participants to move around comfortably. Treasure hunts can be done indoors or outdoors. It is also important to consider the theme of the treasure hunt and choose a location that complements it. For example, a pirate-themed treasure hunt could be held at a beach or park with a nautical theme.

Determining the Number of Participants

The number of participants in a treasure hunt can affect the level of difficulty and the types of clues used. It is important to determine the number of participants beforehand to ensure that there are enough clues and prizes for everyone. It is also important to consider the age range of the participants and tailor the clues accordingly. Older kids can be paired with younger kids for challenging scavenger hunt clues. When working with larger groups, it’s important to split up into teams. Come up with a fun team name and a set of treasure hunt rules for a bit of friendly competition. Having a list of expectations for the hunters will create a clear winner at the end of the hunt.

Setting a Time Limit

Setting a time limit for the treasure hunt adds an element of excitement and urgency to the event. The time limit should be long enough for participants to complete the hunt but short enough to keep them engaged. It is also important to factor in any breaks or rest periods during hard treasure hunts that might take over the entire city or shopping center. These can be called check-ins and can be monitored by a scavenger hunt “grand marshall” or moderator.

Overall, planning a treasure hunt requires careful consideration of the location, number of participants, and time limit. This allows each scavenger hunt to be different and adaptable. By taking these factors into account, organizers can ensure that the event is enjoyable and memorable for all participants.

Creating a Treasure Hunt

how to create a fun treasure hunt for a group of kids or adults

Creating a treasure hunt can be a fun activity for any occasion, whether it’s a birthday party, family game night, holiday, or a family reunion. Here are some tips on how to create a memorable treasure hunt that will keep everyone engaged and excited.

Developing Clues

The key to a successful treasure hunt is developing clues that are challenging but not too difficult. Here are some ideas for creating clues:

  • Use riddles or puzzles that require players to think creatively.
  • Incorporate physical challenges, such as obstacle courses or scavenger hunts.
  • Use maps or directions to guide players to the next clue.
  • Make clues specific to the location, such as hiding a clue under a specific rock or tree.

It’s important to keep in mind the age and skill level of the players when developing clues. Clues that are too difficult or too easy can lead to frustration and boredom. Either plan a different set of rhyming clues or pair younger children with teenagers, parents, or older children.

Setting up the Treasure

Once the clues have been developed, it’s time to set up the treasure. Here are some tips for setting up the treasure:

  • Choose a location that is easy to find and accessible to all players.
  • Hide the treasure in a location that is not too obvious but also not too difficult to find.
  • Consider adding a secondary prize or reward for the player who finds the treasure first.
  • Make sure the treasure is age-appropriate and relevant to the theme of the treasure hunt.

Overall, creating a treasure hunt requires some planning and creativity, but the end result is a fun and engaging activity that everyone can enjoy.

Executing a Treasure Hunt

how to plan for treasure hunting

When it comes to executing a successful treasure hunt, there are a few key factors to keep in mind. In this section, we will discuss the role of a game master and ensuring safety during the hunt.

Role of a Game Master

The game master is responsible for overseeing the treasure hunt from start to finish. They are like the grand marshall of the treasure hunt. Scavenger hunt game masters are the ones who will create the clues and riddles, set up the anchor points, and provide any necessary instructions to the players.

During the hunt, the game master should be available to answer any questions that arise and provide hints if necessary. The person in charge should also keep track of the progress of each team and make sure that everyone is on track to complete the treasure hunt within the allotted time frame.

Ensuring Safety During the Hunt

Safety should always be a top priority when planning a treasure hunt. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • Choose a safe location: Make sure that the location you choose is safe for all participants. Avoid areas with dangerous terrain or potential hazards. Similar to capture the flag, create a perimeter so everyone knows the treasure hunt boundaries.
  • Provide clear instructions: Make sure that all participants understand the rules of the game and any safety guidelines that need to be followed. Allow time for questions and answers before the treasure game begins.
  • Have a first aid kit on hand: In case of any accidents or injuries, it’s important to have a first aid kit available. I mean, sometimes younger kids just like bandaids – am I right?
  • Monitor the weather: Keep an eye on the weather forecast and be prepared to reschedule the treasure hunt if necessary. Some outdoor scavenger hunts can be easily adapted to indoor scavenger hunts, other times you just need to reschedule or enjoy a little bit of rainy day fun!

By keeping these tips in mind, you can help ensure that your treasure hunt is not only entertaining but also safe for all participants.

  • Quick and easy to learn
  • Compact size makes it perfect for travel
  • Suitable for all ages

Cons

  • Limited replay value
  • Not as strategic as other two-player games
  • Cards may wear out quickly with frequent use

We found the Nexci Scrimish Card Game to be a great option for couples looking for a game that is both easy to learn and quick to play. The game is played with two decks of cards, one red and one blue, and the objective is to uncover your opponent’s crown card while protecting your own.

Additionally, the compact size of the game makes it perfect for travel, whether you’re taking a road trip or just heading to a friend’s house.

However, we did find that the replay value of the game is somewhat limited. Once you’ve played a few rounds, the game can start to feel a bit repetitive. Additionally, while there is some gameplay involved in the game, it’s not as strategic as other two-player games like chess or checkers.

Finally, we did notice that the cards may wear out quickly with frequent use. If you plan on playing this game frequently, you may want to consider purchasing additional decks to ensure that you always have a fresh set of cards.

If you’re looking for a fun and challenging two-player board game, we highly recommend the Mattel Games Blokus Duo.

Pros

  • Quick to learn, but offers endless strategy and fun challenges
  • Great for game nights with family and friends
  • Helps improve cognitive skills, including sequencing and hand-eye coordination

Cons

  • Pieces may not fit together perfectly
  • Some customers received sets with missing or extra pieces
  • May not be as enjoyable for younger children

We’ve played this game several times and have found it to be a great way to spend an evening with a partner or friend. The rules are simple: each player gets a set of 21 pieces, and takes turns placing them on the board. The goal is to fit as many pieces on the board as possible while strategically blocking your opponent. The game ends when no more pieces can be placed, and the player with fewer pieces remaining wins.

One of the things we love about this game is how quickly it can be learned. It takes less than a minute to understand the rules but offers endless strategy and fun challenges. It’s also a great game to play with family and friends and can be enjoyed by players of all ages.

While the pieces may not fit together perfectly, we didn’t find this to be a major issue. However, some customers have reported receiving sets with missing or extra pieces, so it’s important to double-check before starting a game. Additionally, younger children may not find the game as enjoyable as older players, as it requires a certain level of strategic thinking.

Overall, we highly recommend the Mattel Games Blokus Duo for anyone looking for a fun and challenging two-player board game.

My partner and I had a blast playing this game together. The concept of working together to solve movie clues is unique and entertaining, and it definitely sparked some friendly competition between us. The game is easy to set up and play, and the VHS sleeves and gameboard add a fun nostalgic touch.

One thing to keep in mind is that the game may become repetitive after several plays, especially if you’re familiar with all of the movie categories. Additionally, some of the clues may be difficult to guess, which can be frustrating for some players.

Buying Guide

When it comes to buying a couples’ board game for two-players, there are a few things to consider. We want to make sure you find the best product for you and your partner. Here are some features to look for when choosing a game:

Game Type

First, consider what type of game you and your partner enjoy playing. Do you prefer strategy games, card games, or cooperative games? There are many different types of two-person games, so finding one that you both enjoy is important.

Complexity Level

It’s important to choose a game with a complexity level that matches both your and your partner’s skill level. If one of you is more experienced or competitive, you may want to choose a more complex game. However, if you’re both new to board games, a simpler game may be a better choice.

Game Length

Consider how long you want the game to last. Some two-person games can be played in just a few minutes, while others can take several hours. Make sure you choose a game that fits within your time constraints.

Replayability

Look for games that have high replayability value. This means that the game can be played multiple times without becoming repetitive or boring. This will ensure that you and your partner can enjoy the game for a long time.

Components

Check the components of the game before buying it. Are the pieces made of high-quality materials? Are the cards easy to shuffle and read? Make sure the game has durable components that will last for many plays.

Price

Finally, consider the price of the game. Two-person board games can range from a few dollars to over a hundred dollars. Make sure you choose a game that fits within your budget.

By considering these features, you’ll be able to find the perfect two-person board game for you and your partner.

super fun youth group games for kids

Youth group games are an important aspect of any youth program. They provide a fun and engaging way for young people to connect with each other, build relationships, and develop important life skills. Youth group games can be used to teach teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership, among other things.

There are many different types of youth ministry games, ranging from classic outdoor games like Capture the Flag and Dodgeball to more complex team-building activities and problem-solving challenges like 5-second Bible trivia. The best youth group games are those that are inclusive, easy to learn, and adaptable to different group sizes and skill levels. They should also be age-appropriate and aligned with the goals and values of the youth program, the Bible, and of course, Jesus!

Whether you are a youth leader looking to plan a fun and engaging activity for your group, or a parent looking for ideas to keep your kids entertained and connected with their peers, youth group games are a great option to consider. With the right games and activities, you can create a positive and supportive environment that encourages young people to learn, grow, and thrive.

Understanding Youth Group Games

kids at youth group playing games

Youth group games are a popular way to engage and entertain young people in a group setting. These games can be used as icebreakers, team-building exercises, or just for fun. Understanding the basics of youth group games can help leaders plan successful events that will keep participants engaged and excited.

One important aspect of youth ministry games is that they should be inclusive and accessible to all participants. This means that the games should be designed to accommodate different skill levels and physical abilities. When games become challenging, consider pairing younger kids and older kids together. This creates teamwork and a mix of skill levels.

Another important consideration is the purpose of the game. Is it meant to encourage teamwork and cooperation, or is it just for fun? Are you creating a game to summarize a bible chapter or lesson? Understanding the goal of the game can help leaders select appropriate activities and ensure that participants are engaged and motivated. In most cases, traditional Minute to Win It Games can be adapted to fit biblical themes and Sunday school lessons.

When selecting games, it is also important to consider the size of the group and the available space. Some group games may require a large open space (like an auditorium or an outdoor field), while others can be played in a smaller space (like a classroom.) Leaders should also consider the age range of the participants and select games that are appropriate for their developmental level.

Let’s look at some examples of the best youth group games you might want to bring to your ministry.

Choosing the Right Game

youth group ideas for games

When it comes to organizing games for a youth group, choosing the right game is crucial for a successful event. Here are some tips to help you select the right game for your group:

Consider the Age Group and Interests of Participants

The age group of your youth group will play a significant role in the type of game you choose. Younger children may not have the attention span for complicated games, while older teenagers may be more interested in games that involve strategy and competition. Additionally, consider the interests of your participants. If your group is full of sports enthusiasts, games that involve physical activity may be a hit. If your group is more creative, consider games that involve art or music.

Determine the Group Size and Space Available

The size of your group and the space available will also impact the type of game you choose. Games that require a lot of space may not be suitable for smaller groups or indoor game locations. Similarly, games that require a lot of equipment may not be feasible if you have a limited budget or space.

Keep Safety in Mind

Safety should always be a top priority when selecting games for a youth group. Avoid games that may be dangerous or involve physical contact that could lead to injury. Make sure to provide proper supervision and equipment for any games that involve physical activity.

Fun youth group games are an excellent way to promote teamwork, build relationships, and have fun. With a wide variety of games available, it’s easy to find one that fits your group’s interests and needs. One popular game that’s liked by all kids of different ages and genders is one-minute games. Minute to Win It Games have taken over the population and they can easily be adapted to holidays, special occasions, and more.

how to play pass the parcel game printable

Pass the Parcel is a classic party game that has been enjoyed by children and adults alike for generations. The game involves passing a wrapped parcel (present) from person to person based on a series of directions or while music plays.  The aim of the game is to be the one holding the parcel. The person holding the parcel at the end of each round (or at the end of the game) gets to unwrap a layer of paper to reveal a small gift or prize inside.

The origins of Pass the Parcel are unclear, but it is believed to have originated in Britain in the early 20th century. The game of pass has since spread around the world and is now a popular party game in many countries. Pass the Parcel is a simple game that requires no special equipment, making it a popular choice for children’s parties and other social gatherings for adults.

Pass the Parcel is also called the left-right game as the present can jut quickly to the left and again quickly to the right. This gift exchange game can be enjoyed by people of all ages and is a great way to bring people together and create a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Whether you’re playing with friends, family, or colleagues, Pass the Parcel is sure to provide low-cost entertainment and laughter. So, if you’re looking for a fun and easy game to play at your next party or gathering, why not give Pass the Parcel a try?

What is the Pass the Parcel Game?

Pass the Parcel is a game that involves a present wrapped in one or multiple layers of wrapping paper or reusable fabric bags of different sizes. A prize or gift is placed in the center of the parcel. The game is played by a group of players who sit in a circle. The parcel is passed around the circle from player to player.

How to Play Pass the Parcel Game

There are multiple versions of the Pass the Parcel gift game.  You can play this gift exchange game with music or with rhyming directions.

Musical Pass

To play Pass the Parcel with music, players must sit in a circle. The person who is hosting the party or event should start the game by playing music and passing the parcel to the person sitting next to them. Similar to hot potato only when the music stops, you want to be holding the package. When the music stops, the player holding the parcel unwraps one layer of wrapping paper. The music begins again. With each break in the music, a new layer of the parcel is unwrapped. The game continues until the final layer is unwrapped, revealing the prize or gift inside.

To make the game more challenging, the host can add additional rules, dares, or “forfeits”, such as requiring players to perform a task or answer a question before passing the parcel. This can add an element of fun and excitement to the game. In addition between each layer of the package can be a smaller gift or prize.

Rhyming Riddles Pass

Another fun version of the pass the parcel game is with a series of directions or rhyming riddles. In this game, directions are provided which where to start the package. Then as each new rhyme is read aloud, the parcel or package moves around the circle. You can have layers of the package where with each new player, a new layer can be unwrapped or you can have the package rotate the circle and at the end of the game, there is only one winner. This last person gets to unwrap the entire package.

Rhyming Pass the Parcel Game Tasks

To get a general idea of directions, take a look at these pass-the-parcel game task examples.

  • We will start this game with a little rhyme, who has known you the longest time?

  • To be fair we have to share, Pass now to the person with the longest hair.
  • We know how time can get away. Pass to the one who had the most recent birthday.

Materials Needed for Pass the Parcel Game

  • Wrapping paper or reusable fabric bags
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Music player and fun music

  • Printable Pass the Parcel Game Tasks

Printable Bible Verses About Cancer and Christian Gift Idea

Before I start this post, I want to tell you about an amazing friend, Heather at Passion for Savings. It was about 10 short weeks from the time Heather found out she had cancer until the time she took her last breath. She left an incredible impact on many in her short life. When I first discovered Heather had cancer, I made these cards immediately. In fact, the photos taken in this blog post of this set on the keychain are actually the Bible verses I sent her in the mail a few short weeks before her passing. (You can do the same, I got the keychain here.) Heather leaves behind a beautiful family including her husband Jonathan, and four precious children.  Because I lack the words right not to tell you more about Heather, I will share with you the post I left on my personal Facebook page. I am forever grateful for this 13-year friendship. It will impact me until the day I pass, as well.

Ashley Langston and Heather Schisler cancer story

When I started blogging in 2008, I didn’t realize the direction it would take me. A little side hobby turned into a small business formed many deep friendships. One of those greatest friendships was with Heather Story Schisler.

Heather and I started our websites at about the same time. I initially found the internet to be very similar to a middle school hall of mean girls. There were few people I trusted outside of a tiny circle of friends.

I remember feeling like I had just entered the cool crowd when I got invited to a Skype room of 20 female bloggers. Heather was in that room and a side chat began. We made plans to hang out at our first conference, BlogHer in 2010. We were instant friends.

Heather’s smile was infectious. She had a love for Jesus. She had so much wisdom, really understood the profession, and was optimistic. She was always trying something new and with success. Often this profession holds secrets because (honestly) we are a bit in competition for real-estate space on the web. Heather and I both understood there was space for us both. I learned so much from her.

At our first conference, people confused us often. While some might find themselves annoyed, I loved it. This girl was amazing and I didn’t even care if they called me Heather. Later, we were identified as a twosome at conferences and Heather was my right-hand girl.

Since that time, Heather and I have been roommates maybe a half dozen times. We would travel to fun cities together nearly double that. Nashville, Chicago, San Diego, New York City, and even my home, Washington D.C. The times I wasn’t sharing a hotel room with her, she gave me the key to crash or drop off my belongings. I belonged. She was my girl.

“I’m starting hospice tomorrow” were some of her last words to me. I knew already but I took comfort in her telling me. I shared a quick message about our shared memories and being an amazing roommate. However, this conversation just felt so backward. An internet friendship with some of the last words about cancer and hospice… ironically shared over a social media platform that had first bonded us.

Yesterday, Heather lost her earthly body and joined Jesus in Heaven. My heart broke but I took peace in her new body. I took peace in that infectious smile entering the gates of Heaven. I took comfort in her relationship with Jesus and her final home.

I love you, Heather. I am thankful for our memories. When they come back I will rotate them into prayer over the Lord’s plans for your precious family. It will be a joyous reunion when we are one day roommates again in Heaven!

Now you know my amazing friend, Heather.

Cancer is a disease that affects millions of people worldwide. It can be a devastating diagnosis, not only for the patient but also for their loved ones. During this difficult cancer diagnosis time, many people turn to their faith for comfort and healing. The word of the Lord is a source of strength and hope for many, and there are numerous Bible verses that offer comfort and encouragement to those who are battling cancer or any illness or disease.

Understanding Cancer Through Bible Verses

Cancer is a complex illness that can be difficult to understand. Many thoughts and questions can run through one’s head when battling a sickness that feels out of control. However, the Holy Bible provides comfort and hope for those who are facing cancer equipping individuals with the power of the Holy Spirit and the truth of the Lord’s word. The following comforting and healing scriptures can help individuals understand cancer from a biblical perspective.

God is Sovereign

One of the most important things to remember when facing cancer is that God is sovereign. He is in control of all things, including cancer. Job 12:10 says, “In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” This verse reminds us that God is the one who holds our lives in his hands. He is the one who gives us breath and sustains us. Therefore, we can trust him even in the midst of cancer to take care of us and our loved ones.

God is Good

Another important truth to remember is that God is good. Psalm 145:9 says, “The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” This verse reminds us that God is a good and compassionate God. He cares for us and desires our well-being. Even in the midst of cancer, we can trust that God is faithful and that he has our best interests in mind. We are children of God. He is writing an amazing book of our life and this day of trouble is a chapter.

God Provides Comfort

Finally, it is important to remember that God provides comfort to those who are suffering. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” This verse reminds us that God is the source of all comfort. He is our living hope. He is the one who can provide peace and hope in the midst of an illness.

In summary, understanding cancer through a biblical perspective involves recognizing that God is sovereign, that he is good, and that he provides comfort to those who are suffering.

Having the word of God in our hearts acts as a shield and sword. Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that “The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Proverbs 30:5 states “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” The word of the Lord acts of armor to protect us from attacks from the enemy including worry, fear, and strife.

These truths can provide hope and comfort to those who are facing cancer.

  • Quality time and support: Offer your time and companionship by organizing activities or outings that align with their energy levels and preferences. A thoughtful gesture could be planning a relaxing spa day, getting a massage, a picnic in the park, or simply spending quality time together.

Ultimately, the best gifts for a breast cancer patient or someone with cancer are those that show your love and support while also being practical and helpful. It’s important to remember that everyone’s experience with cancer is different, so it’s essential to take the time to understand their needs and preferences before choosing a gift.

Jehovah-Rapha is one such name found in the Old Testament and means “The God who heals” in Hebrew. May the name of the Lord be your healer and comforter. May these uplifting Bible verses provide you peace, a joyful heart, and strength.  My prayers are with you as you or your family member battles this illness.

Lord God, you are the father of mercies. A great physician. I pray for those mourning. I pray for those in fear and fighting cancer. Please protect these individuals. These faithful servants. May you wipe away every tear in a time of distress. May you be their steadfast love and treasured portion in a time when their flesh feels weak. May you daily be their living hope and fill their hearts with praise as they read your word. Fill their south with your truth. Provide a shield and sword through your word. Jesus of Nazareth, please provide them comfort and healing during this time. Jehovah-Rapha, you are the God who heals. In your name, I pray, Amen.
