Camping Birthday Party Food

s'mores campfire cones

S’mores campfire cones are a delicious idea for your dessert table. Provide waffle cones, chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows, wrap in foil, and pop them on the grill or in the fire pit for a few minutes. They’ll be a big hit with kids and adults alike! For variations on the recipe, add butterscotch chips, chopped strawberries, etc. You can set up a s’mores station so everyone can personalize their cone. | Frugal Coupon Living

campfire hot dogs

If you’re planning a bonfire for your camp theme birthday party, these camping hot dogs are a must! They’re so easy to make using just hot dogs and crescent rolls. Provide ketchup or mustard to squeeze onto the dogs (optional) as well as cheese dip or barbecue sauce in individual cups for dipping. They’re delicious and filling, and you don’t even need a plate to eat them! | Frugal Coupon Living

s'mores trail mix

This S’mores snack mix would make a great favor or take-home snack for your party guests, but it’s great for munching on while you mingle, too. Toasting the marshmallows gives this snack that S’mores vibe, but you can add them to the mix without toasting them, too. | Cincy Shopper

walking tacos

Walking tacos are an easy main dish to serve at your party with minimal mess to clean up. For this camping-themed party food, pile all your taco toppings into a bag of crushed Doritos or Fritos, grab a fork, and you’re ready to mingle while enjoying your tacos. They’re so good and don’t even require dishes. This fun camping food is an excellent camping party idea for adults or kids! | Frugal Coupon Living

cute camping cookies

These mini camping cookies are adorable! Set some out on the dessert table or wrap them in cellophane and tie them with a ribbon to hand out as favors at the end of the party. They’re easier to make than you think. Start with cut-out sugar cookie dough, and make royal icing in several different colors. Grab some camping-themed cookie cutters, and you’re all set. | The Decorated Cookie

camping birthday party food and drink

Make pond water punch for the kids to drink! It’s a mix of blue Kool-aid and Sprite, but any blue drink you’d like works great.  Add some fishing floats (and perhaps even a few gummy fish) to complete the look. So cool! | Surviving A Teacher’s Salary

camping party food tents

These tent and campfire treats look as yummy as they are cute. They’re made with simple pantry ingredients you probably already have on hand, like peanut butter, Ritz crackers, and fruit roll-ups. If you don’t like chocolate raisins, you could use chocolate chips to make the stones around the campfire instead. The tent is made with graham crackers and caramel apple wrap. How brilliant is that? | She Knows

camping trail mix bar

A trail mix bar is an absolutely genius idea for a camping party. Provide canisters of mini marshmallows, M&Ms, pretzels, cereal, chocolate chips, nuts, etc., for each child to make their own perfect trail mix. | And Everything Sweet

Cakes for a Camping Birthday Party

lumber jack cake

Birthday cakes make amazing centerpieces. Your guests will definitely ooh and ahh over this amazing lumberjack cake that’s made to look like a log and an ax. The surprise is the buffalo plaid interior. How fun! The peanut butter cracker cookies shown in this post are also terrific for a camping party. | Jenny Cookies (seen in our Father’s Day Cake Ideas)

s'mores cupcakes

Chocolate, graham cracker crumbs, and toasted marshmallows come together in these cute, easy, and delicious S’more cupcakes. The Teddy Graham and Hershey bar toppers are ultra-cute! This idea is simple enough that you can use a boxed cake mix and store-bought frosting instead of made-from-scratch if you’re short on time. | Tastes of Lizzy T

campfire cake

What could be more appropriate for a backyard camping birthday party cake than a campfire cake? This one is made with sugar glass for the campfire flames, rolled chocolate wafer sticks for the campfire logs, and a yummy chocolate frosting for the cake. | Simone Made It

easy campfire cupcakes

What about having individual caping birthday party cakes? Campfire cupcakes are another terrific cake idea for a camp-themed birthday party, and they’re easy to make. You’ll need chocolate cupcakes (store-bought or homemade are both fine), chocolate and red frosting, mini marshmallows (optional), and pretzel sticks.  | The Typical Mom

woodland animals cupcakes

There are loads of great camping cake and cupcake ideas in this post, but the ones that caught our eye are the woodland animals’ cupcakes. You’ll need to be really great at working with fondant to recreate them, but there are other ways to do this, too! Use woodland animal paper cupcake toppers, or make or order some small woodland animal cookies to put on top. | Kara’s Party Ideas

teepee campfire cake

There are so many cute details going on with this camping party that it’s difficult to choose just one idea, but a favorite is the teepee campfire cake. The cake looks like a log, and the fondant campfire and teepee sit on top. You should also check out the centerpieces and the canteen party favors. | Hostess with the Mostess

Camping Birthday Party Décor

DIY campsite signs

Make some campsite signs to show your guests the way to the party! This is such a cute idea, and while I typically see it with wood, making your signs with cardboard is a great party sign alternative if you want to keep expenses down or aren’t handy with a saw and a wood burner. | The Busy Broad

Make some bandana sacks for the kids to take home. You can fill them with goodies or a few of your favorite things like gummy worms, goldfish, cookies, binoculars, candy, canteens, etc., and they’ll think it’s super cool that they can carry their sacks over their shoulders. Instead of using wooden dowels, consider picking up a few twigs in the yard for a rustic look. They make adorable birthday camping party favors but can also be used to wrap the special guy/gal’s gifts. | Kara’s Party Ideas

Camping Birthday Party Games and Activities

rainbow lantern craft

Let the kids make lanterns with glow sticks! This is a safe way for kids to enjoy the lantern experience. If you’re worried about glass jars, provide plastic ones instead. The kids will need some assistance with the wire hangers, or you could attach those to the jars before the party starts. | Frugal Coupon Living

nature scavenger hunt camping activity

Kick the party off with a fun nature scavenger hunt to entertain the kids. It’s a great activity if you have your party in a woodsy area, but you can simplify the list if you’re hosting the party in an area without many trees, sticks, etc., too. | Frugal Mom Eh! (As seen in our Scavenger Hunts for Kids)

the best camping games

Camping games and charades will have kids and adults alike in fits of laughter. These are easy and fun games for all ages. Print, gather supplies, and play. For the camping scavenger hunt, stick the clues in a jar or bowl, and have each guest come up to act out a scene. You can divide into teams if you want or have a free-for-all. Also, consider these lake games, just add lake water! | Frugal Coupon Living

camping party activities for kids

Atomic Adam Jelly Bean Rush – This is a race to see who can get the most jelly beans from one plate to another using a straw.

Balloon Blow-Up – Using a funnel, the kids will fill a balloon with baking soda and a plastic bottle with vinegar. The fun happens when both items are mixed together!

Science Scavenger Hunt – The fun begins by you choosing what the kids will find for their scavenger hunt. Be fun and creative! An example – find a magic potion bottle filled with mustard.

Mad Science Party Charades – This is a timed game where the group is split into two teams. Each group has to guess what the other group is acting out!

Burst the Atom – This game involves balloons and everyone around tries to pop the balloons. Guarantees an eruption of laughter.

Slimey – This game on the printable is so much fun because kids get to do a science experiment. Plus slime makes a fun science party favor.

Test Tube Relay Race – This is a fun racing game where the goal is to create colors by mixing colored water together.

Catch the atoms – Consider this a more fun version of an Easter Egg hunt where the kids are catching atoms instead of Easter eggs!

the best Epic TEEN party games teenagers will love

Have you ever thrown a party for teens? If not, you’re missing out on some serious fun! If you have, then you know that low-cost entertainment for teen parties can be hard to come by. That is why we put together these budget-friendly teen party games for your teenager’s birthday party.

Teens are the best age group for birthday party games.  They understand the rules, they are really competitive and they offer a good alternative to getting in trouble. The games have to be challenging enough to keep the teens engaged, but not so difficult that they get frustrated and give up. The key is to find games that are just the right mix of silly and challenging. That’s where we can help.

Let’s talk about teen party ideas including ideas for venues, party foods and of course, teen party games!

Planning Teen a Teen Party

If you’re planning a party for teens, the first step is to come up with a theme. Teens love a good theme and themed parties don’t mean you have to get dressed up and decked out. It can be anything from a glow-in-the-dark party, or pool party to a scavenger hunt.

Once your teen party theme idea is established, you want to get to planning. Here are a few basic steps for planning the actual party:

Choose a date and time

Teens tend to be busy, so it’s important to pick a date and time that works for everyone. The best times for teen birthday parties are in the afternoon or evening. Calculate the hours. How long can you busy a teen before they just go berserk?

You can see some of our favorite teen party digital invites (in our photo scavenger hunt blog post.)

Pick a location

The location of the party will depend on the theme. The games can take place inside out outside, just make sure you have enough room for movement.

Examples of teenage birthday party locations include…

  • Skating Ring
  • Movie Theater
  • Backyard
  • Public Park
  • Escape Room
  • Trampoline Park
  • Basketball Court
  • Go-Cart Track
  • Golf Course
  • Warehouse

You can save money on the party by hosting the at your house, in your backyard or at a local park. If it’s a public park, see if the county requires you to rent a pavilion for special occasions.

Decide on food and drinks

You simply cannot have a teen party without proper food and drinks. Ask the teenagers what their favorite snack foods are beforehand! However, if you are on the search for cheap food for a teenage party, buying pizza, drinks, and lots of candy and chips is likely enough. You might have fun adding in some cute birthday party foods that might involve a little more effort. Decide on party food that fits them or set up some food stations like something you might have at a backyard movie night.

Example easy party food for teenagers include…

  • Pizza
  • Chips
  • Candy
  • Soda
  • Brownies
  • Tacos
  • Hotdogs
  • Chicken Wings
  • Cookies
  • Fruit
  • Popcorn

Let’s talk about some great teen party games to keep your guests entertained:

These are tried and true games that teens have played and loved! You can use all of the fun teen games or omit what doesn’t work for your guest of honor, venue, or party guests.

These games for teenagers are innocent enough to keep the party low-key. They are fun but under the right environment will keep the hormonal kids structured and from going crazy.

Who can you play?

Who can play these party games? Well everyone can. All you need is a winning group of teens.  These games are the best fit for children 11 to 18. That means you can use these for preteens and teens – try with your 13-year-old, 14-year-old, 15-year-old, 17-year-old, 18-year-old etc. You get the idea. They are perfect for boys, girls, or a mix of both. Once you hit that drinking age of 21, check out these adult drinking party games instead!

Where can you play?

These games can be played indoors or outdoors. At a birthday party venue or at home for a summer party gathering. Use for a slumber party, a teen birthday party, a slumber party, or even at a church youth group. Some of these games will require a larger area or space to create a mess. However, each game can be adapted to your audience and space.

Ready for the games. Take a look at this list of teenage game idea examples. Use these game options and print out the printable, so you have it on hand for ALL the fun that’s about to go down.

Pass the Orange

pass the orange teen party game

This is a classic party game with a twist. All you need is an orange and a group of willing participants. The goal of the game is to keep the orange from hitting the ground. You can do this by passing it around, but you can only use your chin. Split into multiple teams just make sure that each team has an equal number of players. The first team to drop the orange loses. This game causes you to get extra close… kind of like a fun twist on spin the bottle close only without kissing! This circular relay race contest might not be best for a church youth group!

How to Play: For this game, split players into two teams. Get an orange and sit everyone in a circle, or stand in a line. The game is simple: you need to put the orange under the chin of the first person, who must then pass it to the next person and place it under their chin, without using your hands. The first team to finish wins.

Supplies: Oranges.

Donuts on a String

donuts on a string teen party game

This kids game is sure to bring out the laughter. You’ll need some donuts and string for this one. The object of the game is to eat the donut without using your hands. The first person to finish their donut wins! Prizes include extra donuts or just the declaration of being the winner!

How to Play: Tie the string on the donuts (one for each guest) and hang them from a clothes line, curtain rod or anything that is available. Each player stands beneath a single donut. On the mark of ‘go’ the players begin to eat their donuts using only their mouth. The first player to finish their doughnut wins.

Supplies: Donuts, string, something to hang from.

Lawn Twister

lawn twister game idea for teens

This is a classic game with a twist. All you need is some spray paint, an open space, and maybe a tarp. Play the game everyone loves, but outside! This game is tons of fun and brings back childhood nostalgia. You can twist it up by adding some shaving cream to each circle. Try not to slip! Now this is one of those teenage party fun games everyone will love!

How to Play: Use spray paint to paint the various circles needed to play the popular lawn Twister game. You can use the twister board from the board game or just have caller who calls out various commands. If you have enough space inside, you can spread a piece of tarp and paint the colored circles on a piece of tarp.

Supplies: Twister mat, twister board, tarp, spray paint.

Marshmallow Pong

how to play marshmallow pong game for teens

This is a take on beer pong, but non-alcoholic. You’ll need some plastic cups and instead of ping pong balls, use marshmallows. The goal is to bounce the marshmallow into the other team’s cup. If they catch it, you get a point.

How to Play: This fun teen game is played like adult beer pong, only teen-friendly, with marshmallows. Line Six cups in a pyramid or triangle shape on opposite sides of a table/area. Each team takes a turn throwing a marshmallow into the other team’s cups. Once a marshmallow lands in a cup, the cup is taken away and the opponent then eats the contents of the cup (if not dirty.) There is no winner. Everyone is a winner for eating the prize – marshmallows.

Supplies: Plastic cups, marshmallows.

Worm Pie

minute to win it pie game for teens

If you love a good 60 second game, this one is it. It also makes the best photos for a teen party. Get ready to get messy trying to hunt the gummy worms lost deep in the whipped cream pie.

How to Play: Give each player a pie tin filled with whipped cream and ten hidden gummy worms. With their hands behind their back, players have to try to find the all the gummy worms in the pie taking the gummy worm out and placing it in a bowl beside their pie tin. Fastest player to find all ten worms, wins. If times, the highest number of worms retrieved in the set time is the winner.

Supplies: Pie tins, gummy worms, whipped cream, bowls.

Balloon Truth or Dare

truth or dare balloon game for kids

What teenager doesn’t love a good game of truth or dare?  This game has a twist as it includes a balloon game. Pop the balloon and do the truth or dare. Add one balloon at a time or all the balloons at once.

How to Play: Fill balloons with fun truth-or-dare questions before inflating them. While everyone is dancing toss a balloon in the group to bounce around. When the music stops whoever last touched the balloon must pop it and complete the task. Afterward, start the music again and throw another balloon into the group.

Supplies needed: none

Steal the Bacon

This game is meant for two teams to split up with an object in the middle. Once the object is put in the middle, everyone is given a number. Once the number is called, the two people on opposite teams run and try to grab the “bacon” in the middle. The one who gets it wins that round for their team.

Supplies needed: object, possible team colors

Butts Up

This is all about having a wall and a ball. The players take turns tossing the ball off the wall and catching it – but there are things that have to happen if that ball isn’t caught! Great game for exercise, teamwork, and concentration.

Supplies needed: ball

Pass the Water

Have everyone line up, holding a cup. The first person’s cup is full of water and once “go” happens, the race is on to see how fast the water can be dumped backward over the person’s head into the cup next in line.

3 Flies Up

It’s all about working on those pop flies! There is a thrower and a catcher and points that can really add up fast!

Sardines

This is the backward version of hide-and-seek. If the seeker finds the hidden person, they join them and continue on with the game.

Grab a hula hoop, hold hands, and see if you can get the hula hoop moving up and down the line of players. The first time to get the hula hoop down the line while staying on the arms, wins!

Spud

This is all about catching and releasing! One person throws the ball in the air and screams someone’s name. That person has to come forward and catch the ball and yell “SPUD” at the same time.

Supplies needed: ball

This game of hide-and-seek starts with the seeker kicking the can. Once reached 100, the can gets set up and the seeker seeks. Everyone has to try to make it back to the can to kick it without getting tagged!

Freeze a few t-shirts the day before for this fun activity. How fast can a team put on t-shirts and continue the race? It’s bound to be a bit tough when that shirt is frozen into a ball!
