Here are some tips to get you started:
1. Decide what kind of scavenger hunt you want to do. Will participants be working in teams or individually?
2. Print out a copy of our Thanksgiving scavenger hunt clues & answer key.
3. Choose the cards that will work best with your home, players, and the length of time you want the activity to last.
4. Hide the clue cards around the house or in plain sight, depending on the difficulty level you’re going for. Older kids can work with younger kids if the clues become challenging. Make sure to keep the first clue to start the game.
5. Explain the rules and read the first clue. Then let them loose to start scavenging!

To get started, make a list of 10-15 Thanksgiving-themed items that can be found around your house or back yard. This can be a team scavenger hunt race as teams compete the finish the challenge in the allotted limit. Instead ditch the time limit and keep this Thanksgiving scavenger hunt checklist as an individual task where the goal isn’t to race but only to finish.
Here’s a list of Thanksgiving scavenger hunt items to get you started:

After you have your list of items, write each item on its own slips of paper (or as a checklist like a bingo card.) If you’re doing this scavenger hunt with younger kids, you may want to provide a picture of the item along with the word.
Once you have all the slips of paper ready, hide them around your house or yard. Make sure to put the first slip of paper in an easy-to-find spot so that kids know where to start looking.
As with the indoor scavenger hunt, explain the rules and then let the kids loose to search for all the Thanksgiving-themed items! This can easily become a neighborhood scavenger hunt as you walk the streets to work up an appetite before the Thanksgiving feast. Just assign the kids an area for where to look.
