On your beach vacation, be sure to download a free Beach Scavenger Hunt printable and beach craft. Keep the kids busy with a sand bucket & cute outdoor treasure hunt!

Okay, we all know vacations aren’t always relaxing. Often family vacations are echoed with “what’s next?!” While the sand and waves are really fun, it’s possible you will hear cries of “I’m bored” or my favorite “I don’t know what to do!” If you are looking for activities for the beach, take a look at this fun list of beach activities for the kids (and kids at heart!)

What are some fun things to do at the beach?

Summer is the perfect time of year to head to the beach. If you are looking for fun beach activities, we have a really good checklist of ideas for kids of all ages. From games, to water play, contests and more, you will have so much fun you might have to set a timer to remind you to reapply sunscreen! It’s easy to burn when you are distracted!

Some of our favorite activities include…

fun beach games to play at the beach

  • Beach Games: Beach games are perfect for using common items you already have in the sand. Ideas include beach Frisbee golf, water relays, beach bowling and more. They are beach activities that will fill the entire day and give someone the claim of victory!
  • Sand Castle Contest: Divide in teams and see who can build the best sand castle. The whole team can look for natural decorations like seashells, seaweed and more.
  • Sand Pictionary: Use the sand to play Pictionary. Divide in teams. Teammates will draw pictures in the sand while their team tries to guess. Items can include an ocean animal, objects found on the beach and more.
  • Fly at Kite: We all know about kites but how often do you get the perfect day to do this outdoor activity? The beach is perfect for giving the right amount of wind to fly a kite.
  • Beach Crafts: Using sea shells and other beach items, turn your finds into art work. You can also upcycle trash found on the beach for a fun beach craft. Ideas include water bottle jelly fish, sand Play-doh and more.
  • Beach Party: While on your beach vacation, have a beach themed party. This can include a pirate party, kid’s baby shark party, adult white party, or even a teen glow in the dark neon party.
  • Minute to Win It Games with Water: Enjoy these water games for kids  that last only 60 seconds.
  • Have a Beach Treasure Hunt: Divide in groups for a team building scavenger hunt. Use a beach scavenger hunt list to find items commonly found on the beach.

If you are headed to the beach this summer, consider this free printable Beach Scavenger Hunt for the kids. It will busy them for awhile. Consider filling as well, their bucket with a snack and drink while they look! This is also good for red flag days when the sea is rough and you can’t get in the ocean.

Beach Tip: consider shipping beach toys from amazon to your beach vacation home. Alternatively, when you arrive at your rented beach house, see if toys were left behind. Many houses end up with renters leftover beach items and supplies. You can also hit the dollar store when you arrive at the beach and leave behind any beach supplies you do not want to cart back home.

By using this digital download you are accepting the terms that this is for personal, non-commercial use. Please contact Frugal Coupon Living with any questions. If you do not have a printer, follower directions on how to print at a local print shop like Staples Copy Center.

Directions

It’s very easy to create this craft once you have your beach scavenger hunt digital download.

Open the printable scavenger hunt in your PDF viewer.

Place card stock in your printer.

Push Print.

You may out the square and trim the corners with a Corner Punch (we used a Martha Stewart punch. It’s a fun craft too to have on hand.)

At this stage, you have the option to laminate your printable to keep it water proof.

Use a glue gun or adhesive spray to stick the beach scavenger checklist to your beach pail.

Tie the pencil with twine to the bucket.

We think a fun option is to fill pail with a few beach items. Consider adding a water bottle, sunscreen and a snack. Everyone knows the sun makes you crave a tasty beach snack.

Beach Photo Scavenger Hunt

This scavenger hunt is perfect for young kids but you can easily convert it into a beach scavenger hunt for adults, teens or youth. Turn this checklist into a Beach Photo Scavenger Hunt.

beach photo scavenger hunt for youth and adults

Race to see who can find the items first. In order to put a check by the beach item, teams must take a photograph of the item. This can be done with a camera or cell phone.

Leave a comment below. On your next adventure, be sure to share what ocean activities you did and add your own ideas too.

Happy fun in the sun and enjoy your beach travels!

Camping Flashlight Hide and Seek

Have you ever heard of flashlight tag? This is one of the most fun camping activities, and it helps the kids get some energy out before it’s time for bed.

How to Play Flashlight Tag

Flashlight Tag Directions: Similar to hide and seek. Everyone carries their own flashlight but only the person who is IT has their’s on. Instead of tagging with hands, you tag with light. Once you’ve been tagged, you turn on your flashlight, point it toward the sky and stand still. Another player can free you by crawling in between your legs (or tagging you). Once everyone is frozen IT wins and the game starts.

Before everyone hides, establish a perimeter (area you cannot go past.) This is especially important for campsites or unfamiliar areas.

We have plenty of other night games you can play outdoors! Print our night games for kids. This includes Glow Sardines, Flashlight Tag, Gloweyball, Ghost in the Graveyard, Firefly, Kick the Can in the Dark, and Night Statues.

Best Outdoor Water Games for Kids

Here are a few of the splash-tastic water games included in this set:

Water Balloon Toss

Supplies: Water Balloons

You know the drill. Toss the water balloon until it drops – splash! See which pair can continue to get the farthest apart from one another, without dropping the water balloon, to be declared the winner!

Pass the Water

Supplies: Buckets, Water, Plastic Cups

Get ready to get soaked with this exciting team competition game. Be the first team with the most water in your bucket and you win! All you need is water, enough plastic cups for each player, and two buckets.

Spray Off

Supplies: Balloons, Buckets, Squirt Bottles

Think you can control your balloon with a squirt of a water bottle? Show off your skills by guiding your balloon through the air and into the waiting trash can before your opponent does. All it takes for this game are two trash bins or storage buckets, balloons, and two squirt bottles.

Puddle Jumper

Supplies: Ping-Pong Balls, Water, Cups

This is a game of skill that puts your lungs to the test as you blow your ping pong ball from one cup of water to the next. Clear all the cups before the other team does and your team will be declared the winners!

Frozen T-Shirt Relay

Supplies: Frozen T-shirts

This game is a classic, classic as in it was played in the 80s (and maybe even before.) Freeze a wet t-shirt and each team must unravel that frozen t-shirt and get it over their head in… you guessed it, 60 seconds!
