Felt Board Quotes and Funny Felt Board Ideas

I caved and I finally picked up a felt board for our family! They are so cute and I felt it was a really fun way to express yourself. You can see our first message. As a mother of five, I felt it was very fitting “Langston Family. Party of 7. If you think our hands are full, you should see our hearts!” It works, right? Often at the store, I get the expression – “Wow, your hands are full!” I am aware, no need for anyone in my grocery aisles to remind me! But you know what!?! My hands might be full, but these kids also fill my hearts. This felt board is just a little way for me to get that off my chest!

We found some of the cutest, creative and even funny felt board quotes. From ideas about food (namely donuts) to ideas to inspire you to make a difference in the world, these quotes are sure to make your felt board full the rest of the year!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube sugar cookie dough (16.5 oz)
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • 3–4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a round pizza pan with cooking spray.
  2. Press the cookie dough evenly onto prepared pizza pan. Bake for 14-16 minutes. Allow to cool completely.
  3. Prepare chocolate ganache: Add chocolate chips and heavy cream in a microwave safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds, then whisk until smooth. If needed, heat for an additional 10-15 seconds. Set aside until ready to use.
  4. While pizza is cooling, beat butter and cream cheese until smooth. If using an electric mixer, use the paddle attachment. Beat in pumpkin, and then slowly mix in powdered sugar. For a thicker frosting, use 4 cups. Mix in pumpkin pie spice and vanilla.
  5. Spread frosting over the top of the cooled cookie pizza. Place chocolate ganache into a sandwich bag and cut off a small corner. Pipe circles around the cookie pizza, approximately ½ inch apart until you reach the center.
  6. To create the spider web, use a toothpick and starting at the center, pull the toothpick through the frosting to the outer edge. Repeat at desired intervals around the cookie.
  7. Chill until the frosting hardens slightly. Cut into slices and serve.

Notes

If you don’t want to use pumpkin frosting, you may use vanilla frosting and tint it orange with food coloring. You may use a 9” size pizza pan, but there will be extra cookie dough and frosting left.

Turkey Nutter Butter Cookies (Pin it to Pinterest)

The most popular Thanksgiving Food Craft, the flexibility of this food craft is nice. How much you want to go with this cookie is up to you. You can have a stand up turkey or a lay down turkey instead.  Add left over Halloween candy to spruce up the design or keep it simplistic with icing and candy corn.

Rolo Pilgram Hats (Pin it to Pinterest)

On the show we made these with chocolate peanut butter cups but you can also do with caramel cups. Pick up store bought frosted fudge cookies and glue on the top of the hat to make the perfect little snack for your little Pilgrim.

Chocolate Covered Oreo Turkeys (Pin it to Pinterest)

This turkey craft is likely for experienced and steady of hands baker. Mix colors and create bright feathers on your Oreo Turkey using a pretzel as a template. Again, how little or how much of the activity and design you want to do is up to you.

Inspiring Farmhouse Fall Decor

Fall Decor

This unpretentious style is distinctly all-American. Nodding to its homegrown roots, farmhouse style homes have a collected-over-time look, complete with old-school prints, distressed furnishings, and vintage finishes. When it comes to Farmhouse Decor, we never tire. From bedrooms to kitchens to porches, we have you covered for the fall and Thanksgiving season.

While putting together these beautiful Farmhouse Vignettes, we noticed some trending patterns. White pumpkins for sure. Use orange pumpkins to pop when you are using a neutral palette. Of course, pull from cursive and chalk lettering, rustic metals, and distressed woods. Pulling form the outside and bringing elements in the house is perfect for the fall season. Print in wheat, pine cones, cotton, stand out mums and of course pumpkins.  No need to kill time carving. The pumpkin alone is a perfect touch.

Science Experiments at Home for Kids on Frugal Coupon Living. Take a look at the chemical reaction produced from baking soda and vinegar!

Kids Science Experiments at Home | Baking Soda and Vinegar

The kids and I love to do crafts at home. Sometimes they enjoy it a little bit more than me! However, I try to be a good mother and do what I can to create excitement at home that is minimal and is an easy clean up. The former teacher in me, also makes sure the activity has some education involved. This baking soda and vinegar experiment is creative, crafty and something you as a mother can walk away from as they have fun playing with the patterns and colors – I think you can get away with telling them it is art!

So a quick description so you and your child understand what is going on. Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and vinegar (acetic acid) react with each other because of an acid-base reaction. One of the products this reaction creates is carbon dioxide, which creates all the fizzing as it escapes the solution.

Hey Mom! Did you know that you can unclog a drain with baking soda and vinegar! Pour a pot of boiling hot water down your drain and then ad about 1/2 cup of baking soda. Let that sit for a bit. After, pour 1 cup vinegar and 1 cup very hot water. Cover your drain with a plug to keep the chemical reaction going down. Let sit 5 to 10 minutes and flush out with more hot boiling water!

Baking Soda and Vinegar

Supplies:

  • 3 cups baking soda
  • 3 colors of food coloring
  • 16 oz bottle of vinegar
  • Straws
  • 9×13″ baking pan

Directions:

  1. Separate your baking soda evenly into 3 bowls, 1 cup in each.
  2. Add several drops of food coloring to each bowl to turn each cup of baking soda a different color.
  3. Mix your baking soda and food coloring together, you will have to use your fingertips as the food coloring tends to clump together.
  4. Pour your colored baking soda into your baking pan and lightly shake the pan so it spreads out evenly.
  5. Place your straw into your bottle of vinegar, place your finger tip on the top of the straw to hold the vinegar inside the straw, lift over to the pan of baking soda, and release your finger.
  6. You will notice the reaction of the vinegar combining with the baking soda.

Extension:

When baking soda and vinegar are combined they create an chemical reaction. Baking soda is a bicarbonate and vinegar is an acetic acid it creates carbon dioxide and water.

Have the kids place the vinegar where the colors connect too, do they mix together and make new colors?
