Attention witches, ghouls, goblins, monsters and more. We have your Halloween Party Ideas! Get ready to enjoy a spooky and spectacular; wonderfully frightening – Spooktacular Halloween Party!

How do you make a good Halloween party?

In order to create a good Halloween party, you need to create an atmosphere that screams fun! I do not speak of the deathly hallows type of scream, of course, but the squeals and giggles of happy children. If creating a themed event, give everyone a guideline of  Halloween Party Costumes. You can even have a few props and Halloween costumes for those that did not wear one.

If hosting a group of children over a period of time, make sure you have tasty treats and engaging activities like these Halloween Games. A good Halloween party will have full bellies and and party games to create large toothly-fanged grins. Create a spooky atmosphere with a Halloween playlist. For the younger crowd, Kidz Bop Halloween party music is a good start. In addition,

Halloween Party Ideas

The best way to enjoy a party is to plan ahead. These Easy Halloween Party Ideas have all you need to create a spooktacular party.  From easily DIY Halloween party décor to Halloween Menu Ideas, get inspired by these Themed Halloween Celebrations. We even through in some Halloween activities to keep your party from turning into a ghostly bore. Let’s get ready to PAR-TAY!

Halloween Party Decorations

The easiest way to set the theme of a party is through party décor. Halloween Party Decorations and be simplistic, like these Farmhouse Halloween Decor, or can be a tittle spooky like scary Halloween decorations ideas with the most perfect Halloween Lighting Effects. Colored lightning like pinks, oranges, reds, greens and purples can change the entire ambiance of a space.

You spend a lot of time on the party food, so decorations should be easy. My favorite DIY Halloween party decoration is Stretchable Spider Webs. Just the outdoor spider webs alone create an immediate Halloween effect, are budget-friendly and really easy to clean up.

Cheap Halloween party decorations may mean running to a dollar store. These Dollar Tree Halloween Crafts are easy to make and best of all, low-cost.

Decorate with Halloween Letter Boards and change out your family photos’ to Halloween Portraits. Letter boards allow you to express fun messages. Changing out portraits for monsters, witches, and zombies makes it feel more like a haunted house.

Decorating the mantle is the first place to begin. Fireplaces are found in common spaces, so have a beautiful Halloween Mantle will create a perfect backdrop for photos or foreground for a party setting.

If you create party food crafts for kids, many times this will act as a pretty Halloween display. These Halloween Tablescapes create spook and fun party décor.

Halloween Party Themes

There is no reason to create a Halloween Party Theme; Halloween is a theme in and of itself.  However, if you want to create a Halloween themed party, there are many reasons to thick to a theme. This allows people to dress the same, have a similar focus on décor and party food, and of course easily help people get into character.

If you are throwing a 30th birthday, try this Halloween birthday party theme – Death to My Youth Adult Birthday Party Idea. Basically it’s hosting a funeral for your 20s with fun Halloween party décor. Cute for any time of the year, but most fitting for the day of the dead.

A Murder Mystery Party is always fitting for a Halloween themed party. We threw a fun Trailer Park Party, but consider hosting a murder mystery dinner theater which creates a fun adult party idea.

Mix up a potion with a Mad Scientist Themed Halloween Party. This creates many ideas for Halloween party foods and also supplies many activities for kids to do during the gathering. If you love to bake and enjoy mixing drinks, this just might be the perfect opportunity to try out new recipes. Send out invitations shaped like bubbling potions and have lab coats and goggles available for each guest.

Speaking of potions, how about wizards and muggles. A Harry Potter Party is perfect for Halloween. Decorate your home or backyard with Harry-themed objects, like the Sorting Hat, broomsticks, golden Snitches, magic wands and a cauldron.

This is one of the most fun Halloween party ideas. Host a Jack-o’-Lantern Carving Party. Everyone brings their own pumpkin and works on carving together. It’s a fun way to get your pumpkin decorating with the company of others while munching on some pumpkin seeds and tasty treats. Don’t forget these No Carve Pumpkin Ideas and be sure to judge the best jack-o-lantern at the end.

Halloween Party Food

Let’s be truthful, we are all at the party for the food. Enjoy our 31+ Halloween Party Food Ideas  which include adorable food crafts and Halloween recipes for kids and adults alike. Also take a look at these Halloween food ideas for a party, what’s your favorite?

Charcuterie boards are really great for feeding a large group of people. I love how color and the placing of various foods can bring many different images to life. This Halloween Charcuterie Board (Foxes Love Lemons) has our favorite recipe, Mummy Jalapeno Poppers.

Mummy Hot Dogs are perfect for filling the kids. Add candy eyes and serve with or without cheese. They are perfect before you go trick or treating as they fill the belly rather well.

I swear the Halloween recipes somehow get spookier and spookier but somehow remain cute! If you find yourself walking in spider web, try this Spider Web Halloween Dip with Guacamole  (Palatable Pastime). Serve with a bag of chips and perhaps some oven or walking tacos for a perfect Halloween appetizer.

Before the candy hits the belly, make sure to serve the kids a healthy Halloween food. This Orange Jack-o-Lantern Fruit Cup is perfect for little hands. If carving the orange becomes too difficult, just draw the face on with a Sharpie.

When I was growing up, there was no fall festival without a Candy Apple. Take the candy apple to the next step, with something a little more poison. Create this Poisson Apple Recipe.  Serve with our poison apple dip.

When serving drinks, have these Halloween Drink Label Wraps. They turn an ordinary drink into something spook-tacular. These shocktails are perfect for mocktails.

Get ready to create family traditions in the month of October. This Family Bucket List for Halloween has 31 days of fun. Print your Halloween bucket list and start checking off the activities as you go!

Family Bucket List for Halloween

We just shared our Fall Bucket List. I actually printed mine and put it on our refrigerator. The kids were pretty excited to see the different activities we have planned over the next few weeks. With this family bucket list, we wanted to make it a little more specific. Halloween themed.

We created a family bucket list that can begin October 1. You can do a new idea each day. Go in order, or change it up. It does end with October 31, putting on your costume and going trick-or-treating. However, some days might not work in order. For example, visiting a pumpkin patch on a Wednesday might not work for a family working and in school.  You might be able to tackle some of these bucket list ideas on one day. You might make candy apples, eat candy corn and and bake pumpkin pancakes in the same day. So take a weekend and make it as Halloween focused as you can, working on your Halloween Family Bucket List.

Family Bucket List for Halloween

Create new Family Traditions for fall! This Halloween Bucket list is listed for 31 days of activity. Feel free to adapt it to your family and change it up as needed during the month of October. You can combine bucket list ideas into one day or skip ahead and go back depending on your family schedule.

Quick & Easy Church Halloween Costumes. Ideas for trunk or treat, Sunday school parites, bible study, Awana and more!

Quick & Easy Church Halloween Costumes

When I had one child, I think I was ready for Halloween around August. Even if I did not have my child’s costume (I always did), I knew what my child was going to dress up as. So things have changed. Preparing ahead isn’t a thing anymore ( I say that, preparing this post in May), in fact I am lucky to get it all done last minute. I have learned to perfect the last minute.

If you are last minute like me, we put together some quick and easy Halloween Costumes for Church. These are not necessarily biblical Joseph and Mary costumes, but they are fun costumes (some quite funny/punny) that are appropriate for church. The bible costume we did for Awana last year, was all done within a few minutes before we had to leave.  Some of these costumes, you might want to do a few days ahead as paint or dyeing could be involved, others can be done in just a few short minutes!

Happy candy collecting… Happy Halloween!

We share with you earlier in our 31+ Family Halloween Costume Ideas, our Awana costume – the Bible, Old Testament and New Testament.

One of my girls was the Red Sea (a red C – get it.) We planned for her to wear red but the clothes were too small, so some confused it with the Black Sea.

Another daughter, was a Blessing in Disguise! Get it?

Having a scavenger hunt for kids is always a good idea and with this one being Halloween-themed, you know it’s going to be a great time!

Not only with this get their mind working on things to do during the scavenger hunt but it will also mean that everyone in the family can spend some time together and join in on the family. You know what they say…the family who plays together, stays together!

What is a Scavenger Hunt?

It’s basically a long list (or shortlist) of clues or riddles that leads the person searching towards the prize. Some of the clues are about objects while others are a riddle to be solved to get the next clue. The fun thing about scavenger hunts is that they can be changed up easily to whatever works best for those who are participating.

How do you make Hints for a Treasure Hunt?

Depending on the age of the person hunting for treasure, you might want to give a few clues along the way. This is as simple as being there with them to help guide or answer any questions that they might have. You can also draw pictures of extra clues or have other riddles in mind to add just in case they’re having trouble.

You can have some Halloween Scavenger Hunt Clues if the need arises for a bit of extra help.

Can you do a Virtual Scavenger Hunt?

You bet! The one thing to keep in mind is that you’ll need to have someone at the local of the person that you’re doing the virtual scavenger hunt with so that they can help to “plant” a prize there in their area!

Easy Ghost Halloween Craft for Adults

Halloween is coming up, and it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to make this year spooky. You could go the traditional route of telling ghost stories in front of a roaring fire or dressing up as your favorite character for trick-or-treating. But if you want to make something that is fun and easy to make, then this Tide Pod ghost craft is just the thing!

Halloween Ghost Craft

How to make a Halloween ghost craft

This upcycled craft is inexpensive to make and uses supplies you might already have  in your home. Even if you don’t use Tide Free & Clear Pods, you can purchase the laundry soap and use it while repurposing the container for this Halloween ghost craft.

Materials needed:

  • An empty, clean Free & Gentle Tide Pod container
  • Ghost eyes and mouth template – download and save it to use later
  • Black adhesive vinyl for the ghost’s face – you can also use black Sharpie, construction paper or an adhesive printer label
  • Liquid glue (if not using adhesive vinyl)– to attach the eyes and mouth onto the ghost head. I found that regular craft adhesive works well but you can also use Modge Podge and it looks great.
  • Scissors (if not using a vinyl cutting machine)

Instructions:

First remove the top from the container and discard. We won’t be using the lid for this project.

Next I removed the label from the laundry pods container by soaking in hot water until the label softens. Then I scraped the label off carefully, using GooGone to remove it completely.

Tip: You can also use a heat gun to warm the label but the ease of this option varies based on the brand. For instance, I found using a heat gun to be easy on Gain containers but difficult on Tide containers.

ghost craft materials

Once the container is ready, print out the ghost face template and cut out the pieces. Place the ghost face pieces on the back of the adhesive vinyl and trace them with a pencil. Cut out the pieces.

For a Cricut Halloween project, if you’re using a cutting machine, open the template in your software and trace the pieces. Cut the eyes and mouth out of the adhesive vinyl.

Peel the backing off the vinyl and apply the face pieces to the side of the container.

If you’re using colored paper, trace the shapes and cut them out. Apply glue to the pieces and place them on the side of the container.

If you’re using printable labels, print out the template, cut the pieces out and apply them.

If you are using a black permanent marker, use the ghost face cut out as a guide to trace your own face.

Can I use a different container?

Although I used a Tide Free & Clear soap container, you can substitute a different brand that’s white or use a colorful one like the orange Tide container. Perhaps turn it into a fun pumpkin or spray paint it white.

Got milk? In our Halloween Hacks, we shared light up ghost crafts using a gallon milk jug for iSave A to Z. Just incorporate upcycled Christmas lights and you have a boo-tiful luminary. Don’t be afraid to get creative!

Ways to display your Halloween ghost craft

There are so many fun ways to display your ghost craft. You can place your ghost on a table or counter to set up as the perfect Halloween night scene. You might want to include other Halloween decorations like spiders, black cats, and witches hat bowls filled with candy for trick-or-treating.

This cute ghost would also be a great addition to your Halloween front porch décor with some pumpkins around him. Get a small hay bale from your local craft store and set up a spooky setting with spider webs that will impress your trick-or-treaters. Or use as fun Halloween lighting displaying up and down the staircase.

Ghost Template Printable

There are two formats you can get this FREE Ghost Template printable. Choose either a PNG for your Halloween Cricut Craft or download at a ghost PDF to use the ghost face as a template for tracing with a sharpie marker.
