Cute Pennant Flag Ideas for Christmas Elves

In the true spirit of Christmas, we’ve put together a few fun Christmas sign sayings. These Christmas quotes are turned into Elf flag props. Take a look at these short Christmas quotes as well as ideas on how to use them and the props needed to execute your idea.

First, you need to make your printable signs. Follow these simple instructions and you will have 12 Christmas pennant flags. Download your pennant flag file, which you will print on regular paper or white cardstock. I really like this pack of letter-sized Astrobrights white card stock. Using scissors or a paper trimmer, cut out the flag shape (two triangles attached.) Use a glue stick to attach the flags to a bamboo kitchen skewer (aka mini wooden dowel) and connect the end pieces. You also can use a small piece of scotch tape. You will have twelve different signs displayed as black and white Christmas pennant flags.

Now for the magic of the season! Using your Christmas sign flags and holiday elf doll, try some of these cute Christmas Pennant Flag ideas.

I’m Watching You

Idea: Does your child have a messy room? Did they get in trouble at school? Talk back? Bring this  Prescription paired with a sign that reminds your child Elf and Santa are watching.

Materials: Prescription, pen, Elf

Team Nice

Idea: Everyone is looking to be on the nice list! Create your own naughty and nice list or print ours in the free printable library.

Materials: Naughty and nice list, pen, Elf

Elf on Duty

Idea: This arrival sign is a fun Arrival Idea for the first day. For Elf’s arrival, add this sign to remind everyone who is in charge of reporting to Santa.

Materials: Elf

Merry & Bright

Idea: There’s nothing brighter than a rainbow. Pair this sign with a cute Skittles Rainbow. Or find the brightest, loudest ugly Elf Christmas sweater for a cute idea.

Materials: Skittles, plate, water, ugly sweater, Elf

Santa Stop Here

Idea: Start a Christmas countdown of the days until Christmas and make sure your favorite little guy announces and reminds “Santa Claus to stop here.”

Materials: Construction paper, marker, Elf

Oops

Idea: Create a messy idea and deny all plausibility with this fun sign.

Materials: varies, Elf

Holly Jolly

Idea: This fun sign can be paired with any festive Christmas activity. We think it would be a great pair with Christmas cookies. Bring the ingredients let your child put together the recipe and enjoy cookies and hot cocoa. By the way, I cannot lie, Christmas calories don’t count.

Materials: Cookie ingredients, Elf

Better Not Pout

Idea: Are you trying to correct any behavior? If your child has seen some occasions that might be placed one the naughty list, use Elf to offer some encouragement with a “better not pout” sign. Deliver with a behavior note notice.

Materials: Behavior note, Elf

It Wasn’t Me

Idea: Need a little mischief or mess? For another fun idea, find a good messy idea and have elf deny any part of the mess.

Materials: varies, Elf

Deck the Halls

Idea: Sometimes these sayings just make no sense. Take some of these funny Christmas sayings and make them incredibly literal. Hang a deck of playing cards down the hall. Attach these cards to green and red ribbons and hang them like Christmas banners. Have Elf holding the deck the halls decorative flag.

Materials: Deck of cards, yarn or string, tape, Elf

Peace on Earth

Idea: The true spirit of Christmas lies in peace… or peas. Let me explain. What if you play with this phrase? Pose the Elf on top of a globe (You can print a world from Google if you wish.)  You could even add a bag of peas, for peas on earth. Have Elf holding the sign.

Materials: Globe or printed world, peas, Elf

No Peaking

Idea: Put some newly wrapped Christmas presents under the tree. The kids will love the anticipation of what might be inside. Place Elf holding a “no peaking” sign.

Materials: Presents, Elf

These are only ideas.

These fun pennants can also be used as gift tags and holiday decorations. You can pair these cute Christmas flags with whichever elf idea you desire or use them around the house as cute Christmas decorations and photo props.  Imagine all the members of your family holiday a Christmas pennant in the framed family photos during December.

Let’s talk about some you’ve been gobbled gift ideas that you might want to include inside of your Thanksgiving surprise basket. A hot drink mix like hot chocolate or apple cider would be perfect, a Thanksgiving-themed pot holder or dish towel, or a fall-scented candle.

Some other gift ideas include a boxed cake mix with frosting, some fall-scented hand soap, a coffee mug, a can of pumpkin (include your favorite recipe for it), or a coloring book and crayons. Novelty Thanksgiving toys, candy, and a Thanksgiving card are also nice additions to your basket. You can put whatever you like inside of your gift basket, the point is just to share the Thanksgiving spirit with others.

Once you’ve decided on who your recipients are and what to put in the basket, it’s time to decide on how to drop it off.

Make extra copies of the printable so when you Gobble the recipient, you can also drop off copies of the printable set.

Basically, you wait until a time that you know they are home, but are unlikely to run into them coming in or out, and set the basket on the porch with your you’ve been gobbled printable. Ring the doorbell and take off before you are seen!

Once that person has been gobbled, they will hang on the front door, the door hanger that says “we’ve been goobled.” The will use the extra copies of You’ve Been gobbled and gobble another friend or neighbor.

This can be a team scavenger hunt race as teams compete the finish the challenge in the allotted limit. Super Adorable Alphabet Handprint Art & Crafts

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

When it comes to creative and fun for kids, this adorable Alphabet Handprint Craft is the best. This printable alphabet handprint crafts activity is great for early learners as well as preschool-aged children who love messy play! Create an adorable handprint alphabet book or fun keepsakes for mom and dad. Have fun learning all the letters A to Z with these adorable Alphabet Handprint Crafts for Toddlers.

A to Z Alphabet handprint art for toddlers

When the kids are little, it’s fun to find creative activities and crafts to do with them. And let’s be honest, the kids will be super pumped to dip their little hands in paint and be a part of creating the alphabet sitting right next to you.

The really fun part about this handprint crafts activity is that every page focuses on a letter of the alphabet (and has a super cute and fun saying to go along with it!)

How do you keep the paint from staining kids’ hands?

Some paint will stain hands and sometimes, there isn’t anything that you can do about it. Instead of acrylic paint, the BEST way to keep the paint from staining their hands is to use a washable paint (like this low-cost set.)

You can also add a tad bit of lotion on their hands and have them rub it in before dipping their hands in the paint. This is a great way to add an extra barrier to their skin and can help avoid having stained hands for weeks!

Why are handprint crafts important?

I get it – I’m a parent (and former classroom teacher) and I know the thoughts that surround messy play. But, in my mind, messy play is great for creative play, imaginative play, and fine motor skills as well. In addition to working on fine motor skills and creativity, hand, and fingerprint art leaves a piece of history behind. It captures tiny hands on a certain date and year so you can look back at the little handprints and ask yourself through nostalgia “how did they grow so fast?!” It’s two birds with one stone – learning and sweet keepsake crafts.

Since each printable letter of the alphabet has a space for the kids to dip their hands in paint and be a part of the process, this will also keep them engaged during the entire alphabet activity. That is HUGE for little kids!

Super Adorable Alphabet Handprint Craft

Are you ready and excited to print out this activity and get started? Keep in mind that the kids can go at their own pace and don’t have to complete the entire alphabet in one sitting! But if they want to keep going – let them!

Many of these supplies are ones that you’ll probably already have at home. If you’re like me, you may have a special craft section in your house that you keep stocked with options at all times!

Download and enjoy this fun letter treasure hunt. Preschoolers & young readers race through the home/classroom as they discover objects that start with each letter of the alphabet in this cute alphabet scavenger hunt printable.

Alphabet Scavenger Hunt Printable for Toddlers

The alphabet is an important tool for learning to read and write. This alphabet scavenger hunt around the house (or classroom) is a fun way to help your child practice identifying letters from A to Z!

Letter Scavenger Hunt

Help your toddler and preschool child learn the alphabet a fun activity that not only uses review and repetition, but gets them moving!
To get started you’ll want to make sure that you’ve reviewed the alphabet and all 26 letters with your child previously so there’s no frustration with the activity- nothing slows learning more than boredom or confusion.

How to Play

The goal of this game is for your child to identify all 26 letters in the alphabet. For each letter, they will need to find an object that starts with that letter sound around the house.

Once they find the object, they will need to identify which letter of the alphabet the object starts with so you can write it down.
To make sure things go smoothly, you might want to make sure there are some special items laid out or on display for letters like X, Y, and Z that might be harder to find. Items like a yarn ball for Y or a zebra stuffed animal for Z work well.

If your child is younger and identifying objects by their starting letter is difficult, work as a team to talk about the objects. You can say the name of the item, sound out the first sound/letter, then have your child repeat it back to you. Ex. “T-t-truck. Tuh, tuh, truck starts with the letter T.”

For an advanced version for older kids or emergent readers, you can even set a timer or create a time limit. Make it a race between two kids and see who can do the letter treasure hunt the fastest and get the most letters correct. You can even award points of items that are not duplicates. For example, one person got a ball and one person got a baby for the letter B. The winner gets the most points.

When all 26 letters have been found and identified, review the objects and letters with your child again. You can even talk about what sound each letter makes and how that sound is different from other letters.

More Alphabet Ideas

For older learners, you can also use this opportunity to help your child practice their writing skills by having them trace the letters after finding the objects! You can include both uppercase letters and lowercase letters to trace.

Make a yummy lunch that features different letters of the alphabet such as ants on a log (celery, peanut butter, raisins), cheese and crackers, or animal crackers. Trader Joes has some fun graham cracker alphabet letter cookies. They are a perfect snack for letter recognition.

Get active with an alphabet hopscotch! Write down different letters on some construction paper or cardboard then lay them out in order on the ground. As you call out each letter, have your child hop on top of it.

Use post it notes. Label 26 post it notes, one with each letter of the alphabet. The kids have to go around the home or classroom and place one sticky note on an object that starts with that letter.

Have your child lay down on their stomach then call out different letters for them to find around the room and trace with their finger.
There are so many ways to play and learn with the alphabet- use your imagination!

How to Plan a Birthday Party

Most of us aren’t professional party planners, but that doesn’t mean when you’re having a party, you can’t throw a great birthday party with a few party planning tips!

Whether you’re planning a first birthday, a spa party or anything in between, there are some basic steps that you’ll need to follow to make sure that the party goes off without a hitch.

DIY Low-cost party planner

Follow this birthday party list to help you plan a great event:

1. Pick a date and time for the party. You’ll want to make sure that you pick a day and time that works well for both you and your guests. Take into account things like work, school and other activities that might conflict with the party.

2. Choose a venue. Once you have a date and time set, it’s time to start thinking about where the party will be held. If you’re having a small party, your home might be the best option. But if you’re expecting a larger crowd, you’ll need to look into renting a space.

3. Send out invitations. Once you have all the details worked out, it’s time to let your guests know about the party. You can either hand-deliver the invitations or send them out via email or snail mail.

4. Plan the food and drinks. No party is complete without food and drinks! Start thinking about what you’ll serve your guests. If you’re on a budget, finger foods and simple appetizers are always a good option.

5. Choose decorations. Decorations are optional, but they can really help set the mood for the party. If you’re stuck for ideas, try doing a quick search online or looking through party supply stores.

6. Pick activities. Depending on the age of your guests, you’ll want to have some activities planned for the party. This could be anything from playing party games to watching a movie.

7. Get supplies. Once you have all the details worked out, it’s time to start shopping for party supplies. Make sure you get enough plates, cups, napkins, etc. for all of your guests.

8. Decorate. If you’re having the party at your home, now is the time to start decorating. Put up some streamers, balloons and other decorations to really get your guests into the party spirit.

9. Set up for the party. A few hours before the party is set to start, make sure everything is ready to go. Set out the food, drinks, plates, cups, etc. so that everything is easy to find.

10. Enjoy the party! The big day is finally here! Take a deep breath and enjoy yourself. After all, it’s your party!
