Well with April, we are approaching the end of the year. I wanted to share with you the Creative and Affordable Teach Gifts that I wrote for Baby Cheapskate.

Labels: Teachers will have to pack up and move many things. To easily identify their belonging, these FREE 140 ct of labels is great. Shipping adds around $3.

Postcards: Teachers often have to send home notes. Having a generic note, perhaps with their first name on the front, their classroom grade, school mascot/name, etc makes a nice personalized card. Pick up 100 for FREE! Shipping adds around $5.

Business Cards: Business Cards are great for teachers to share contact information with one another or with parents. Pick up 250 for FREE! Shipping adds around $5.

Flip Books: Make them a small flip book of the year. Combine with this great Snapfish offer. Buy one book and get two for FREE! You can also pick up a FREE Flip Book with around $4 S&H.

Gift Cards: Use services like Groupon, Living Social, or Eversave to find deals for your area. If you get credit to a restaurant/spa use that certificate price to go buy a gift card.

Daily Deal Sites: I find that Rue La La, One Kings Lane, Jasmere, and Gilt are great daily deal sites. Check back each day to see what new items they have as unique gifts. Shopping now ensures arrival in time for the end of the year.

Closed. Holiday Giveaway – Vtech MobiGo System #wingiveaways

This giveaway is closed. Congratulations, Laura R!

From early on as parents we realized our kids did not always like their toys.  Remote controls, phones, and ipods were the gadgets of choice – even at 6 months of age.   We have come from us, parents who lived in a generation of prehistoric computers, now to our children who are using gadgets at the same time of learning to walk. Technology has definitely evolved.

One of my favorite evolutions is technology that allows kids to have fun while still learning but engaging in cognitive thinking and other areas of the brain.  VTech’s MobiGo is a HOT item this season for just that. Geared toward children ages 3 to 8, this item retails at $59.99. These hot games include characters from Cars, Disney Princesses, Shrek, Toy Story and more! This gadget emulates kid’s parent’s technology.  With touch-activated screen and featuring games like Disney and Dora, kids can slide, flick, and tap their way to fun via colors, spelling, math, shapes and more. As if its use wasn’t easy enough, finding it is easy too. Sold in major retailers including Amazon, Toys R Us, Target, etc.

If VTech’s MobiGo doesn’t interest you, perhaps one of their other products from infants, to preschool to grade school might. Choose among their Jungle Gym Bike, V.Smile Motion, KidiZoom Camera, Bugsby Reading system and more. One of the features on their site I really enjoy is their product demo. I get frustrated at stores when I see a product in packaging that I cannot touch. Especially if I am paving the way and no friend’s kids have the product or me to demo. Online, you can get a clip sharing the different features of the products as if you were playing it yourself.

VTech is providing one lucky Frugal Coupon Living reader a MobioGo Touch Learning System and two games.

Guess what, for every 50 entries or comments or trackbacks on each of their posts, VTech will donate one product (up to three) to the Ronald McDonald House Charities! That means by entering, you are giving back!

Land O Lakes & Box Tops for Education

School is back!  And Land O Lakes wants you to know that they are now a partner with Box Tops for Education.  I’m sure many of you are good Boxtop clippers.  I have to admit that since I don’t have kids in the local public schools yet, I really haven’t paid much attention to this great program.

Box Tops for Education is a program that takes the Box Tops (the trademarked logo with the points) from participating products and credits your school with the amount they’ve allotted for each top you turn in.  Land O Lakes Box Tops are worth 10 cents each.

For more info on Box Tops for Education and the participating products, go to their web site.  You’ll be able to create your own account and register it for your school(s), print valuable coupons for Box Top products, etc.

At the beginning of the new school year, most schools are working hard to get the campaign out in front of the parents.  Be sure to find out how your school prefers you turn them in and make it a regular activity with your child(ren).  What a great way to make your frugal shopping deals go even farther!

Guest Post – How Do You Save Money on Ink?

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

September 21, 2009 by Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living Filed Under: Uncategorized

published date: September 21, 2009
modified datt: September 21,2009

We are in the business of finding all the great deals for you, helping you cut the cost of your shopping bill & we are always telling you to go here and print this coupon, but how can we cut the costs on our ink usage? Here are a few ideas on things you can do to help cut your printing costs:

1) Refill your ink cartridges. In my town there is a local shop that fills them for ½ of what it would have cost to buy a new one. Check around your area, you can even find refill stations in your local mall. Walgreen’s refills your cartridges for $10-$15 typically. Also you can recycle your old ink cartridges at Staples & they will give you a $3 voucher which you can then use toward a new one!

2) Use recycled paper for your printing. This can include the kid’s leftover assignments from school, scrap papers, newsletters, etc. Any paper with a blank backside. I simply turn them over and print on the back. When using clean brand spanking new white paper I print coupons on both sides…You know how you print off a coupon and it has a whole bunch of writing below it….what a waste! I print another single coupon on the other side running the opposite direction. My printer even does a great thing: When I am printing a single coupon, right after it shows the coupon coming out of my printer I can hit cancel and it doesn’t print all that extra wording. Saves ink there!

3) Set your printer to “draft quality”. Simply go into your printer settings and select options and adjust accordingly. This uses half the ink and you still get the full coupon printout effect. I also print my coupons in black ink only. Color ink is so much more expensive to purchase, so not using color saves me a lot of money there. I haven’t had a coupon denied yet due to the fact that I print in black only.

Do you have other helpful ways to save money on your printing costs?
