Kid’s Camping Journal Printable

Create a memorable outdoor adventure with this Kid’s Camping Journal Printable.  Using guided prompts have your child share favorite events, who they traveled with, memories and more. Continue the tradition each year and add to your camping printable as a kid’s camping logbook.

Kid’s Camping Journal

Many of us have taken our kids camping and it was a great experience. However, there is a way to take your camping adventures a step further. If you’d like to get your kids even MORE involved in the camping experience, then it’s time to check out a camping journal. I want to walk you through how to utilize a kid’s camping journal and how it can be a great asset to learning.

Camper’s Profile

I love the idea of a camping journal because kids camp more than once in their lifetime. Each time you take your child camping, they can have a new profile. It’s so fun to look back on the camper’s profile and see what age, grade, location, etc, for each camping trip. Putting together the camper’s profile is one of the best parts for kids and creates a memory page you can keep forever!

Camping Education

When we do something with our kids, we strive to make it a little educational. I have found that this camping journal for kids is an excellent way to teach them about camping and where it all started. Everything we do didn’t just happen, there is always a story behind it and a camping journal is a great way to track that history!

Camping Education Answers:

What is Camping? Camping is a _____ activity. It is usually done _____ for _____ . (These can all be personalized to your child.)

Who is Thomas Hiram Holding?Thomas Hiram Holding is the founder of modern recreational camping. He made the first camping handbook in the world.

Camping Buddies

Whether your child is going off to camp with a recreational group or you are taking them camping, they always meet someone new. It’s always a lot of fun to get their information, so that you can keep in touch. There is space in this camping journal for kids to be able to keep track of their camping buddies and even get in touch with them when they get home and get settled. Perhaps a future pen pal!

Camping Lessons

You can’t live if you don’t learn. While camping, your child is bound to learn a lot from camping. This camping diary will allow your child to keep track of what they have learned from camping. It’s fun to use this journal as a memoir as well. Your child can hold onto these journals and look back to see what they’ve learned through their camping experiences.

Extra Options

I have to say that this camping notebook is an excellent way to add to a kid’s camping experience. Some of the extra options of this camping journal that I really like is that your child can keep track of their favorite memories, draw or paint their favorite scenes, and even add to their camping photo wall. Print every where and you can keep a running journal and watch your child age.

And for you and to create family memories, grab this The Camping Logbook (Camping Journal) to Record Your Adventures.

Use this camping journal to record the details of your camping adventures so you can look back on and share experiences and favorite spots.  Use fill-in the blank pages that act as a guided prompt to write in such camping details such as location, date, notable amenities and attractions, who shared the trip, who you met, favorite events, and things to avoid next time.

Camping Journal Printable and Kids Outdoor Games

Camping Games

Do you need a few games to keep you busy while you camp?  There are plenty of ways to keep children entertained while outdoors. Keep this camping journal by their sleeping bag at night. You can also find creative ideas in our overnight camping ideas including camping crafts and camping games. We have a large series of Outdoor Games for Night or print our Flashlight Scavenger Hunt for fun memories and family traditions.

You’ll enjoy camping with your child and ensuring they are learning as much as possible while being in nature. Continue this tradition by printing new pages each year and creating a yearly camping logbook for kids!

Worry less about what to pack and more about the excitement of the trip . This free camping list printable will keep you organized on your next camping adventure. Full list of camping supplies for the family.

free camping packing list printable

Going on a camping trip is a great deal of fun, but it can be a bit of a nightmare if you don’t arrive prepared. For this reason, packing is a very important aspect of your camping trip.

What do you bring camping?

There are four primary areas to think about on a camping trip and things you simply must pack for each. Here is a quick overview to get you started:

Shelter

Your shelter is one of the primary things you will need on a camping trip and you have to give some serious thought to it based on where you are camping. Unless you are staying in an RV or camper, you will need to determine how you plan to sleep. Will you go the route of sleeping under the stars, or will you use a tent?

Perhaps you are planning on doing an old fashioned lean-to and rough it like the people of old. Whatever the case may be, you have to pack the supplies needed to make it happen.

Regardless of which method you plan to use, pack an extra blanket or two and a high quality sleeping bag for each person.

Camping Food and Sustenance

Again, you have to consider whether you are bringing food or hunting your food. Either way, you need to pack some food for emergency because hunting is not always successful.

If you are cooking, then bring foods that are easy to make over a fire and that will not attract a ton of animals such as bears. Canned beans, eggs, sausage, marshmallows, sandwich stuff and hot dogs are good examples of foods to bring. Dehydrated foods are good as well. Just be sure all food is in bear proof containers to prevent smells from emanating into the forest.

If you are hunting your food, be sure you are properly licensed and bring it along. Bring your fishing tackle and gear and perhaps your firearm if you are hunting that type of food. Some prefer to carry a bow and arrow. Whatever your method of hunting, be sure you bring plenty of gear.

Finally, make sure you bring cooking gear if you are making your food at the site. You will need a pot, grill top, utensils, coffee pot, spatula and something to boil water in should your water run out. Bring a bit more than you think you need if possible.

Clothing

Clothing is not something you need to pack heavily as you will be living a minimized lifestyle in the woods. Pack plenty of good, warm clothing if you are heading into cold weather and a warm coat. Most people bring two changes of clothes so that they can rotate their outfits each day. Bring separate sleeping clothes so that you can air out your gear each evening or wash them as needed. Extra socks and an extra pair of boots are advisable if you have room in your pack.

Emergency

This section can be as large or small as the area demands. For example, if you live in the area of the country where bears are quite common, you need to have bear spray and a sidearm at least. First aid kits are also necessary along with extra bandages, a splint, allergy meds and some antibacterial spray. Sunscreen is always a good thing to keep as well as a good, safe bug spray.

Finally, make sure you have a means of communication to the outside world if you are going deep into the woods. A cell phone is important these days, as well as a good solid compass that you can trust. Never put anything above your safety and know your limitations.

This should get you the majority of what you need for your packing, but be sure to consider your own personal needs as well. Some folks need specific foods or medicines and that should always be top of the list. Also, make sure you keep identification on you as well in case you get lost or disabled.

A healthy and delightful twist on the classic banana split – banana split on a stick. Easy to make, a few simple ingredients and still low-calorie and delicious.

banana-split-sticks-recipe-frugal-coupon-living

Headed to the beach? Hosting a pool party? These banana split sticks put a twist on the classic banana split recipe. Plus, they are cool because who doesn’t love dessert on a stick?

What are the main ingredients in a banana split?

when creating a traditional American Banana split there are a few key ingredient: Ice cream, chocolate syrup, bananas, nuts, whipped cream, and cherries. You can add other favorite ingredients like strawberry ice cream, chocolate ice cream, strawberries, pineapples, and caramel topping. The rules are your own and each individual’s Banana split can be created differently.

Are Banana Splits healthy or unhealthy – why?

Traditional banana splits would not fit many diets. Banana splits contain dairy (ice cream), chocolate, whipped cream and nuts which might be a problem for those with nut allergies. however, you can adapt the classic banana split recipe and create a healthy snack that doesn’t add too many calories but still is quite tasty and pleasing to your taste buds.

If making banana splits in a bowl or dish, try Greek yogurt. You also could add low-calorie whipped cream or leave it off. For those with nut allergies, leave off the peanuts or add granola instead! We personally find our banana splits on a stick are just at ouch of a treat but are also still very kind to those with diet restrictions.

How to make Easy Banana Split Sticks

American’s favorite dessert is now improved – Place freshly cut fruit on a stick and enjoy this twist on a classic – Banana Split Sticks!

Ingredients:

  • 3 Bananas
  • 1/4 pound Cored Pineapple
  • 6 Strawberries
  • 1 cup Dipping Chocolate
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Peanuts
  • 12 Popsicle Sticks (or skewers)

Tip: have a nut allergy, instead of chopped peanuts, try adding granola.

Directions:

Cut strawberries in half.

For each strawberry half, cut an equal size piece of banana and pineapple.

Place pineapple on first, then banana and lastly strawberry.

Place in freezer for 10 minutes.

Line a tray with wax paper or parchment paper.

Put chopped nuts in small plate to use for dipping.

Melt chocolate by heating in microwave for 30 seconds, stirring and repeating until melted and smooth.

Dip cold fruit in chocolate, then into nuts, then place on prepared tray.

For an added mess, consider serving with whip cream for dipping!

With only a few minutes prep, you can create these Beach Party individual pudding cups. Using teddy grahams, graham crackers and a few candies, you have adorable kids’ pool party snacks for a birthday, beach vacation or even a class party.

Beach Scene Vanilla Pudding Cups

vanilla-pudding-beach-cups-frugal-coupon-living-short-collage

These tasty treats are almost too cute to eat. Turn a vanilla pudding cup into a beach scene complete with a circle float, umbrella and bear laying on a towel above the beach sand. While these snacks are the embodiment of sand and surf, they are best served at a beach themed party or at a pool party as they would not go well with wind and sand.

What kind of food do you serve at a pool party?

For a pool party, you will find most of your guests snacking. While it’s nice to serve things like hamburgers, hotdogs or even pizza, make sure that you have a good selection of individual pool party snacks. That way people can eat on the go or as the sun and water develops their hunger.

Consider the following kid-friendly pool party snacks…

  • Seasoned Oyster Crackers Snack Mix
  • Strawberry Salsa
  • Banana Split Sticks
  • Cantaloupe Sailboats
  • Watermelon on a stick
  • Under the Sea Marshmallow Pops
  • Crab Sandwiches
  • Crab Cupcakes
  • Clam Cookies
  • Fruit Pizza Beach Ball

Beach Themed Snacks

The end of school is quickly approaching and if you are looking for an EASY last day of school snack, summer party idea, or something fun for a beach-themed celebration try out these Beach Scene Vanilla Pudding Cups.

Easy pool party snack for kids

Ingredients:

We used Snack Pack Vanilla Pudding Cups, make sure you have one pudding up per child/serving. Follow with one Teddy Graham, Life Saver, Air Head Extreme and Umbrella to perfect your individualized beach scene!

  • Snack Pack Vanilla Pudding Cups
  • Crushed graham crackers
  • Airhead Extreme Bites
  • Life Saver Gummies
  • Honey Teddy Graham’s
  • Drink Umbrellas

Where do I find Cocktail Umbrellas?

There are a number of places to find small drink umbrellas. I would recommend hitting the Dollar Tree first, but also look on Amazon, Target or at your local party store.

vanilla-pudding-beach-cups-frugal-coupon-living-facebook

Directions:

First Take the tops off of your pudding cups and fill to the top with your crushed graham crackers to look like sand.

Place a Teddy Graham onto an Airhead extreme and place onto the “sand.”

Stick your umbrella into the sand with a gummy life saver next to it.

Serve with a spoon and enjoy these cute little beach treats!

Can I make these the night before?

If you want to prep your beach themed party snacks the day before, prep the topping ingredients. Go ahead and set aside the number of pudding cups you need. Crush your graham crackers and store in an air tight container. Count out your number of umbrellas and peices of candy. For 30 beach snacks, it should take no more than 10 minutes prep.

When determining the size mold for your Hot Chocolate Bombs, you need to measure the cups you will be using. To be safe, you want to keep your silicon mold between 2 and 2.5 inches in diameter.  You can go smaller or larger, but too small limits the goodies you can put inside and too large means the cocoa bomb will not fit in your mug. The average 6 cavity Hot Cocoa Mold is about 2 inches.

Have you tried hot chocolate bombs? They are the newest food trend. We couldn’t stop with hot cocoa, we had to make the best coffee bombs too. Mixing chocolate and espresso, these mocha coffee bombs hit the sweet spot.

The Best Coffee Bombs

I remember the first time I was introduced to fusion food. It was the early 2000s and I recall going to a restaurant that mixed all sorts of flavors together. I do not recall the meal, very well, but I do remember the still water was $4 – isn’t that crazy? I also recall that the dessert was a hamburger made with chocolate and a donut. The restaurant didn’t make it long (perhaps because of the expensive water, perhaps because it was a little ahead of it’s time for the area I lived), but my love of fusion was built during that time.

When I think of coffee bombs and hot chocolate bombs, I think of fusion food. It is mixing something creative and unique and creates a beautiful display – sometimes too beautiful to enjoy or eat. Since I love chocolate drinks, but don’t drink hot chocolate enough, I wanted to create my love of chocolate with my love of a need – coffee.

What is a coffee bomb?

To first answer what is a coffee bomb, you must know what is a chocolate bomb? A coffee bomb, similar to a chocolate bomb, is a round hard shelled chocolate ball with instant coffee inside. When added to hot milk it breaks apart and creates a Mocha Coffee. Chocolate bombs and coffee bombs are fun recipes you can make at home that are excellent for gift giving.

If you love Coffee, you likely love Starbucks. Look at our Starbucks Inspired Chocolate Bombs too!

Coffee Bomb Recipe Directions

It is really easy to make Coffee Hot Chocolate Bombs. Follow the following directions to get your started.

First, place one 12-ounce package of dark chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave the dark chocolate chips in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate chips are fully melted.

Next, take a spoonful of melted chocolate inside a half circle of the silicone mold. Use the back of the spoon to spread the chocolate up the sides of the rubber mold. Continue this process until all the molds are coated (approximately 12 half circles).

Set the remaining melted chocolate aside for sealing and decorating the bombs.

Allow the chocolate in the molds to set completely, around 2 to 3 hours. You can speed up the process by placing the chocolate in the refrigerator.

When the chocolate is set, remove each of the chocolate pieces from the mold. Add around one tablespoon of instant espresso powder in each piece.

Reheat the dark chocolate in the bowl in 15 second intervals until melted. Pick up an empty chocolate piece and dip the edges into the melted chocolate. Carefully place it on top of a filled piece and lightly press it into place. Using your finger, smooth melted chocolate around the seam. Continue until all the chocolate bombs are sealed.

Melt the white chocolate according to the package instructions, then place the melted white chocolate into piping bags. Lightly drizzle white chocolate over the top of the bombs to decorate.

Allow the chocolate decorations to set before using, around 1 hour.

To make the mocha bombs, place the bomb in the bottom of a mug. Pour one cup of hot milk over the top of the bomb to melt the chocolate. When the chocolate is completely melted, stir to combine.
