How to Set Up for a Secret Spy Party

Set up is easy with the right secret agent equipment. You’ll need a few things to make your spy party games realistic and fun.

  • Tables and chairs for all of your guests
  • Various crime scene props such as fake blood, weapons, money, etc.
  • A outline of a body on the floor with tape
  • A bulletin board for pictures or photos of the suspects (guests)
  • Weapons, disguises, sticker mustache and gadgets that are appropriate for children
  • Name badges for each of your guests
  • Nerf guns and bullseyes for party décor target practice.
  • Obstacle Course for agent training.

On the spy party invitations, ask each child to come dressed in all black or dark clothing. Every good spy needs dark sunglasses, which makes a fun take home prize or party gift.

Of course take a look at all our Spy Party Ideas. Find party favors, birthday cake ideas, costumes and planning and executing the best secret agent party details.

Secret Agent Training

Before starting the spy party games, you’ll want to have a little secret agent training for your guests. This will help them get into character and understand the rules of the games.

Explain that they are all undercover agents working for a secret organization. You can supply each child at the secrete agent party with a manila envelope or folder. Use the Find Your Code Names PDF to get each agent’s spy name. Provide sharpies and name tags so that each agent can refer to the other players by their spy name.

They will have to have their photo taken so you can post it on the “Wanted” bulletin board. A small black briefcase is also a cool decoration if you have access to one.

  • Explain that they are all undercover agents working for a secret organization.
  • Give them their mission briefing and explain the rules of the game.
  • Distribute any props they will need for their mission, such as fake weapons, disguises, or ID cards.

The first game is always best to start with some training so that everyone is on the same page.

Spy Party Games

The following are some of the included unique ideas that are fun for kids of all ages.

Spy Game #1 – Pin the target on the enemy spy! Use a picture of an enemy spy, downloaded from the Internet or drawn yourself, and give every guest a target to pin onto it. Be sure to cover the agent’s eyes before they each pin their target onto the picture.

Spy Game #2 – Shoe Print Expert. In this game the agents will examine the shoe that was found near the crime scene and search for matches.

Spy Game #3 – Find the Suspect. Use the clues to rule out suspects and find the true culprit. Just print out the pages and provide a pencil or pen for this fun spy game for kids.

Spy Game #4 – Identify the Fingerprints. For this cool game you’ll need a few washable ink pads so your guests can see what type of fingerprints they have.

Spy Game #5 – Create Secret Agent Names. Using letters of the alphabet and your birthday month, create your own James Bond codename. Will it be Golden Slayer, Lone Wolf or Invisible Viper?

Have kids that love scavenger hunts? Or simply need an activity for your inner child? We’ve collected the best printable scavenger hunts from all over the web! Have tons of fun hunting with the whole family. Enjoy!

Printable Scavenger Hunts for Kids

Year-round Printable Scavenger Hunts for Kids

I’ve loved scavenger hunts since I was a kid. Well, I still love them! Some of my best memories are from scavenger hunts with family and friends. They got me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to meet new people. Plus, I love a good challenge and a prize, so I always gave my all to win the hunt! Scavenger hunts are amazing ice breakers for group scenarios, like at camp or a birthday party. Or, you can make a special scavenger hunt for a loved one to show them how much you care!

We had so much fun gathering the best printable scavenger hunts for kids from all over the internet. Whether you’re looking for a scavenger hunt at home or an outdoor scavenger hunt for kids, we’ve got a scavenger hunt for every season and occasion. Happy hunting!

What is a Scavenger Hunt?

A scavenger hunt is an engaging game played by children (and adults, too!). Every scavenger hunt begins with a list of objects to find and riddles or clues to help the players locate the items. To play the game, divide the players into at least 2 teams and give the teams or individual players copies of the list of clues. A scavenger hunt is similar to a treasure hunt in that there are clues to solve and at the end is typically a scavenger hunt prize or present.

What are the Scavenger Hunt Rules?

Scavenger hunts can be played individually or in groups — either way, whoever finishes first wins! There are two types of hunts. Hunts can be consecutive where a team or individuals are given the first clue which leads to the second, third, fourth, and so on. Alternatively, hunts can be done using a checklist where the full list of “must do’s” are provided at the beginning. Provide players with a writing utensil, and they can check off their finds as they go!

Individual Scavenger Hunts

Individual scavenger hunts are a great way to busy a child or give them individual gifts on a special day. At each stopping point, before the next scavenger hunt riddle clue is given, gift your child a piece of their larger present. You can do this on birthday or even collecting their Back to School Supplies. Yes, you can do a scavenger hunt at home to make even Back to School Supplies exciting!

To begin, supply the player with the first scavenger hunt clue. The first riddle will lead them to the second. The second will lead them to the third clue and so on until the scavenger hunt is over. You can also provide a scavenger hunt checklist where the entire list must be completed before a prize is given.

Group Scavenger Hunts

Group scavenger hunts are perfect for sleepovers, lock-ins, class parties, and more. Even adults can find their inner child and have fun challenging each other in outdoor venues like parks, concerts, the mall, or in a city hunt challenge around town.

Either supply your groups with a scavenger hunts riddle and clue #1 or provide them a list of things to get on a piece of paper. This list is their checklist and must be completed in order to declare a winner. A checklist Scavenger Hunt is typically easier for large groups, so you don’t have to go around hiding multiple sets of clues for each team.

Use some of these Printable Scavenger Hunts for Kids below or search Pinterest for scavenger hunt ideas for adults.  Make sure to follow us on Pinterest too!

Scavenger Hunt Prize Ideas

Customize your prizes to the size of your scavenger hunt group. If you’ll have a lot of people winning, opt for smaller prizes. If you are doing an individual hunt, you can make the prize larger.

Scavenger Hunt Prize Ideas include:

  • Cheap trophies (fill with candy)
  • A cheap medal
  • Candy Bars
  • Gift Cards
  • Carnival prize toys
  • Seasonal prizes based on the scavenger hunt theme.

What are some ideas for Scavenger Hunts?

Before choosing a scavenger hunt, think of a theme. What season is it, is the a holiday that is close by are you having a scavenger hunt just because. Scavenger hunts can take two shapes, they can including good clues, perhaps in the form of cute rhyming riddles older kids need to solve. Alternatively, they can have images or pictures which are perfect for younger kids.

Adult Birthday Party Games

What are some good games for a birthday party?

I’m Going To A Bar

This memory game is fun to play after the drinks have been flowing for a while. Guests will go around the circle naming what items they would bring to the bar in alphabetical order. Start with the birthday person. Then each person builds onto the list, but if you forget an item, you’re out. Last person left is the winner!

In this classic Minute to Win it Game, get ready to shake it to win! This hilarious game will have your guests working hard to jiggle all of the ping pong balls out of the container attached to their waist the fastest. Imagine the moves that will go down in history with this game!

Straight Face

This game of skill is a challenge to see who can read the silliest sentences without cracking a grin. Each player writes a crazy sentence on a slip of paper and adds it to the basket. Players them take turns reading a sentence aloud while trying to not laugh or smile. Anyone who laughs, snickers, or grins is out. You can also up the punishment by making offenders take a shot!

Charades

You can’t go wrong with a fun game of charades. To get things started, use the cards included in the packet for the game. You can also give each of your guests a few minutes to come up with some funny suggestions with the blank cards to personalize the game to your friend group. This game is all about creativity and using your imagination, so the more outrageous the charade, the better!

Scavenger Hunt

If you have some time, do something unusual like a one hour scavenger hunt. Instead of doing this at home, go around town trying to find some of the strangest things like a Refrigerator box, coin from 1983, town clock, egg carton, deposit slip, take-out menu or even a photo of the entire team in a shopping cart.

LEGO Games for Kids

Skee Ball Toss – This is always a popular game choice for any children’s parties! But why not make it more interesting with a LEGO twist? Kids will love trying to toss the building bricks into the circles to get the highest points for their team.

Pin the LEGO Head – Played much like a traditional pin the tail on the donkey game. Each child gets a chance to put his or her blindfold on and then try to pin the LEGO head on the minifigure’s body.

LEGO Relay Race – Spoon race is a classic game. Using spoons and building bricks, create a LEGO themed relay race for your kids and their friends. Kids will love seeing who can get their pieces across the line and build the tower the fastest!

Building Challenge – A classic game that is now even better with a LEGO twist! Use the PDF of challenge cards to give the kids a building challenge and a time limit and see what they come up with. Each player will have the same number and kind of blocks to complete the challenge. You can give small prizes for the creations like “tallest creation”, “most unique build” and “most LEGO bricks used” for added excitement.

Mini Figure Knockdown – The classic-style game is turned into a fun LEGO destroying challenge! Players will use NERF guns or water blasters to knock down as many LEGO man mini-figures as possible within the time limit.

Tallest Tower – How tall can your LEGO tower go? Players will race the clock and other players, stacking their bricks to see who gets the highest tower and is declared the winner! For a variation, kick the game up a notch and have the players wear blindfolds!

LEGO Chopstick Shuffle – A simple challenge, but a fun one with a twist! Give each player a bowl or pile of bricks and an empty bowl. Set the timer, and have them use only the chopsticks to transfer the LEGO blocks to the empty bowl. The player with the most building bricks in the second bowl when the timer goes off, wins!

These entertaining games are sure to make your child’s party one the kids will be talking about for weeks! Best of all, you likely have most of the supplies – LEGO pieces!

Valentine Taboo Words

There are so many ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day and the people you love. Nothing is more fun than playing a holiday themed game with your favorite people. Playing these Valentine taboo cards is a great way to have fun, share a laugh and maybe even get a bit competitive this February.

The game can be played with friends or family members. If you’re planning a Galentine’s party or a fun game night, this forbidden words game is a light-hearted way to break the ice and make new friendships.

Valentine’s Games

Valentine’s Day games are a great way to spend some time with your friends and family. Whether you’re playing alone, with a spouse or in groups and teams, Valentine games can liven the celebration!

What are some fun Valentine Games?

Fun ways to liven a small gathering are with games. There are plenty of games you can play with kids, adults, in the classroom, youth group and more. Celebrate the season of love with these Valentine’s Day game ideas.

  • Valentine Party Games
  • Valentine’s Minute to Win It Games
  • Valentine Scavenger Hunt
  • Valentine Bingo Cards with Conversation Hearts

… and for a very special Valentine’s Day Party Games, take a look at our 128 Valentine Taboo Cards.

Valentine Forbidden Words Games

These Valentine taboo cards can bring out the competitive side of you. This game is especially fun for friends who love to get creative with their language- whether it’s swearing or talking about things that are typically taboo it’s a ton of laughs.

Use these Valentine cards for inspiration, but you can also make up rules that work best for you and your guests- whether it’s limited words or using only one word at a time. The possibilities are endless when it comes to taboo!

What You Need to Play Taboo

  • Taboo cards printable
  • A timer or stopwatch to keep the game on track
  • Pencil/pen to keep score
  • Writing paper
  • Optional: electronic buzzer

To prep the game, print out the Taboo cards pdf on cardstock for extra durability and to reuse the cards again. The file has 128 creative Valentine’s Day words cards that you’ll love. There are plenty of cards but in case you want to add your own, we included blank cards so you can add some clues of your own.

Who are the Taboo Cards For?

These February Taboo Cards are best used as an Adult Valentines’ Day Party idea. Some of the words may be too difficult for younger players or more PG-13. If you wish to adapt for a kids’ party, read through the cards before you get started if you’re playing with kids or teens.

Just remove the cards that you’d like to avoid and store them with the adult set of clues separately.

We also included blank cards so you can add your own forbidden words that might be age-appropriate for younger kids.

How to Play Valentine Taboo Cards

The taboo game rules are simple. To get started, players will break into small teams of 3-4 people each.

The first player begins the guess game by drawing one card and then reading the “guess word” to themself. The word at the top of the card is the word/phrase they will be describing so the other players on their team will guess it.

The words below are the “forbidden words” that the clue giver should avoid.

Clues are given one Valentine word at a time, with the team members guessing until they get the word. To make sure the game stays on task, a one minute timer can be used.

If the teammates guess the word, the team gets a point.

The game works well for groups as small as 4 and doesn’t need an even number to play, making it easy to plan activity for any party, gathering, or event. Players will be on the edge of their seats trying to delcare their team the winner!
