Understanding Treasure Hunts

Purpose of Treasure Hunts

Treasure hunts are a fun and engaging activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The main purpose of a treasure hunt is to challenge participants to solve clues and puzzles in order to find a hidden treasure. Treasure hunts can be used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Team building: Treasure hunts can be used as a group game for a team-building exercise to encourage collaboration and communication among team members. They are great icebreakers and can be used to foster connections and relationships as well as improve communication and create camaraderie.
  • Education: Treasure hunts can be used as an educational tool to teach children about history, geography, science, and other subjects. Treasure hunts at school can be light-hearted like entering a new classroom, or STEM challenges like creating DIY simple machines.
  • Entertainment: Treasure hunts can be used as a fun and entertaining activity for parties, family gatherings, and other events. A birthday treasure hunt can be used to find party favorites or birthday presents. A treasure map can be used as an indoor scavenger hunt with a fun pirate theme.

Types of Treasure Hunts

There are many different types of treasure hunts, each with their own unique challenges and objectives. Some of the most popular types of treasure hunts include:

  • Scavenger hunts: Scavenger hunts are a classic type of scavenger hunt that involves searching for a list of items or clues in order to find the treasure. Participants are given a list of items or clues that they must find within a certain time limit. The items or clues can be hidden in a specific location, or they can be scattered throughout a wider area. Scavenger hunts can be done indoors or outdoors, and they can be customized to fit any theme or occasion. Participants may work individually or in teams, and the hunt can be as easy or as challenging as desired. Scavenger hunts are a fun and exciting way to engage participants, encourage teamwork and problem-solving skills, and explore new places.
  • Clue-based hunts: Clue-based hunts are a type of scavenger hunt that involves following a series of clues to find the final destination or treasure. Participants are given a clue that leads them to the next clue, and so on until they reach the final destination. Clues can be in the form of rhymping riddles, puzzles, or cryptic messages that require participants to use their problem-solving skills to decipher.
  • Geocaching: Geocaching is a type of scavenger hunt that involves using GPS coordinates to locate hidden containers called “geocaches”. Participants use a GPS-enabled device, such as a smartphone or handheld GPS unit, to navigate to the geocache location. Once the geocache or “cache” is found, participants can sign a logbook, take a trinket, or leave a trinket for the next person to find. Geocaching can be done anywhere in the world, and there are millions of geocaches hidden in various locations, from urban areas to remote wilderness areas. Geocaching is a fun and exciting way to explore new places and engage in outdoor activities while searching for hidden treasures.
  • Puzzle hunts: Puzzle hunts are another popular type of scavenger hunt that involves solving puzzles to find clues and complete the hunt. These hunts usually involve a series of complex puzzles, each of which provides a clue to the next puzzle. Similar to the tasks of an escape room, the puzzles can be a variety of types, such as word puzzles, logic puzzles, or visual puzzles.
  • Treasure map hunts: Treasure map hunts are one of the most popular types of scavenger hunts. This type of hunt involves a map that leads participants to a hidden treasure or a prize. The map may be hand-drawn or printed, and it usually contains clues or riddles that must be solved in order to find the treasure. Often X marks the spot at the end of a treasure map hunt.

Each type of treasure hunt has its own unique challenges and can be tailored to suit the needs and interests of the participants. Treasure hunts can fit a theme, occasion, or holiday.

Planning a Treasure Hunt

When planning a treasure hunt, there are several factors to consider to ensure that the event is successful and enjoyable for all participants.

how to plan a treasure hunt

Here are some important things to keep in mind:

Choosing a Location

The location of the treasure hunt is crucial to its success. The location should be safe, easily accessible, and have enough space for all participants to move around comfortably. Treasure hunts can be done indoors or outdoors. It is also important to consider the theme of the treasure hunt and choose a location that complements it. For example, a pirate-themed treasure hunt could be held at a beach or park with a nautical theme.

Determining the Number of Participants

The number of participants in a treasure hunt can affect the level of difficulty and the types of clues used. It is important to determine the number of participants beforehand to ensure that there are enough clues and prizes for everyone. It is also important to consider the age range of the participants and tailor the clues accordingly. Older kids can be paired with younger kids for challenging scavenger hunt clues. When working with larger groups, it’s important to split up into teams. Come up with a fun team name and a set of treasure hunt rules for a bit of friendly competition. Having a list of expectations for the hunters will create a clear winner at the end of the hunt.

Setting a Time Limit

Setting a time limit for the treasure hunt adds an element of excitement and urgency to the event. The time limit should be long enough for participants to complete the hunt but short enough to keep them engaged. It is also important to factor in any breaks or rest periods during hard treasure hunts that might take over the entire city or shopping center. These can be called check-ins and can be monitored by a scavenger hunt “grand marshall” or moderator.

Overall, planning a treasure hunt requires careful consideration of the location, number of participants, and time limit. This allows each scavenger hunt to be different and adaptable. By taking these factors into account, organizers can ensure that the event is enjoyable and memorable for all participants.

Creating a Treasure Hunt

how to create a fun treasure hunt for a group of kids or adults

Creating a treasure hunt can be a fun activity for any occasion, whether it’s a birthday party, family game night, holiday, or a family reunion. Here are some tips on how to create a memorable treasure hunt that will keep everyone engaged and excited.

Developing Clues

The key to a successful treasure hunt is developing clues that are challenging but not too difficult. Here are some ideas for creating clues:

  • Use riddles or puzzles that require players to think creatively.
  • Incorporate physical challenges, such as obstacle courses or scavenger hunts.
  • Use maps or directions to guide players to the next clue.
  • Make clues specific to the location, such as hiding a clue under a specific rock or tree.

It’s important to keep in mind the age and skill level of the players when developing clues. Clues that are too difficult or too easy can lead to frustration and boredom. Either plan a different set of rhyming clues or pair younger children with teenagers, parents, or older children.

Setting up the Treasure

Once the clues have been developed, it’s time to set up the treasure. Here are some tips for setting up the treasure:

  • Choose a location that is easy to find and accessible to all players.
  • Hide the treasure in a location that is not too obvious but also not too difficult to find.
  • Consider adding a secondary prize or reward for the player who finds the treasure first.
  • Make sure the treasure is age-appropriate and relevant to the theme of the treasure hunt.

Overall, creating a treasure hunt requires some planning and creativity, but the end result is a fun and engaging activity that everyone can enjoy.

Executing a Treasure Hunt

how to plan for treasure hunting

When it comes to executing a successful treasure hunt, there are a few key factors to keep in mind. In this section, we will discuss the role of a game master and ensuring safety during the hunt.

Role of a Game Master

The game master is responsible for overseeing the treasure hunt from start to finish. They are like the grand marshall of the treasure hunt. Scavenger hunt game masters are the ones who will create the clues and riddles, set up the anchor points, and provide any necessary instructions to the players.

During the hunt, the game master should be available to answer any questions that arise and provide hints if necessary. The person in charge should also keep track of the progress of each team and make sure that everyone is on track to complete the treasure hunt within the allotted time frame.

Ensuring Safety During the Hunt

Safety should always be a top priority when planning a treasure hunt. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • Choose a safe location: Make sure that the location you choose is safe for all participants. Avoid areas with dangerous terrain or potential hazards. Similar to capture the flag, create a perimeter so everyone knows the treasure hunt boundaries.
  • Provide clear instructions: Make sure that all participants understand the rules of the game and any safety guidelines that need to be followed. Allow time for questions and answers before the treasure game begins.
  • Have a first aid kit on hand: In case of any accidents or injuries, it’s important to have a first aid kit available. I mean, sometimes younger kids just like bandaids – am I right?
  • Monitor the weather: Keep an eye on the weather forecast and be prepared to reschedule the treasure hunt if necessary. Some outdoor scavenger hunts can be easily adapted to indoor scavenger hunts, other times you just need to reschedule or enjoy a little bit of rainy day fun!

By keeping these tips in mind, you can help ensure that your treasure hunt is not only entertaining but also safe for all participants.

Pass the parcel is a fun activity to play during a birthday party or another special event. Learn how to play this gift exchange game plus print this adorable pass the parcel game with rhyming game tasks today!

how to play pass the parcel game printable

Pass the Parcel is a classic party game that has been enjoyed by children and adults alike for generations. The game involves passing a wrapped parcel (present) from person to person based on a series of directions or while music plays.  The aim of the game is to be the one holding the parcel. The person holding the parcel at the end of each round (or at the end of the game) gets to unwrap a layer of paper to reveal a small gift or prize inside.

The origins of Pass the Parcel are unclear, but it is believed to have originated in Britain in the early 20th century. The game of pass has since spread around the world and is now a popular party game in many countries. Pass the Parcel is a simple game that requires no special equipment, making it a popular choice for children’s parties and other social gatherings for adults.

Pass the Parcel is also called the left-right game as the present can jut quickly to the left and again quickly to the right. This gift exchange game can be enjoyed by people of all ages and is a great way to bring people together and create a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Whether you’re playing with friends, family, or colleagues, Pass the Parcel is sure to provide low-cost entertainment and laughter. So, if you’re looking for a fun and easy game to play at your next party or gathering, why not give Pass the Parcel a try?

What is the Pass the Parcel Game?

Pass the Parcel is a game that involves a present wrapped in one or multiple layers of wrapping paper or reusable fabric bags of different sizes. A prize or gift is placed in the center of the parcel. The game is played by a group of players who sit in a circle. The parcel is passed around the circle from player to player.

How to Play Pass the Parcel Game

There are multiple versions of the Pass the Parcel gift game.  You can play this gift exchange game with music or with rhyming directions.

Musical Pass

To play Pass the Parcel with music, players must sit in a circle. The person who is hosting the party or event should start the game by playing music and passing the parcel to the person sitting next to them. Similar to hot potato only when the music stops, you want to be holding the package. When the music stops, the player holding the parcel unwraps one layer of wrapping paper. The music begins again. With each break in the music, a new layer of the parcel is unwrapped. The game continues until the final layer is unwrapped, revealing the prize or gift inside.

To make the game more challenging, the host can add additional rules, dares, or “forfeits”, such as requiring players to perform a task or answer a question before passing the parcel. This can add an element of fun and excitement to the game. In addition between each layer of the package can be a smaller gift or prize.

Rhyming Riddles Pass

Another fun version of the pass the parcel game is with a series of directions or rhyming riddles. In this game, directions are provided which where to start the package. Then as each new rhyme is read aloud, the parcel or package moves around the circle. You can have layers of the package where with each new player, a new layer can be unwrapped or you can have the package rotate the circle and at the end of the game, there is only one winner. This last person gets to unwrap the entire package.

Rhyming Pass the Parcel Game Tasks

To get a general idea of directions, take a look at these pass-the-parcel game task examples.

  • We will start this game with a little rhyme, who has known you the longest time?
  • A very important person gets to start the game, pass now to the one with the longest first & last name.
  • The first person to your right is wearing blue, Is now allowed to grab the parcel straight from you.
  • To be fair we have to share, Pass now to the person with the longest hair.
  • We know how time can get away. Pass to the one who had the most recent birthday.

Materials Needed for Pass the Parcel Game

To play Pass the Parcel, you will need the following materials:

  • Wrapping paper or reusable fabric bags
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Music player and fun music
  • Prize or gift to be placed in the center of the parcel
  • Printable Pass the Parcel Game Tasks
  • Optional: Small prizes in-between layers

Examples of smaller prizes between the layers of gift wrap can be candy bars, plastic toys, gift cards, chocolates, and lolli pops.

It is important to ensure that the wrapping paper or fabric bags used to wrap the parcel are of different designs and sizes. This will make it easier to distinguish between the different layers of wrapping paper and add an element of surprise to the game.

When Can Pass the Parcel Games Be Played?

What’s great about this gift game is there are many reasons you can play. In fact, we provide a generic list of directions for the game of pass that can played at any time, during any occasion, with any audience. Cancer Bible Verses about Healing & Comfort

Share these uplifting scripture cards as a thoughtful gift or keep them close for personal reflection and inspiration with your own cancer journey.

Printable Bible Verses About Cancer and Christian Gift Idea

Before I start this post, I want to tell you about an amazing friend, Heather at Passion for Savings. It was about 10 short weeks from the time Heather found out she had cancer until the time she took her last breath. She left an incredible impact on many in her short life. When I first discovered Heather had cancer, I made these cards immediately. In fact, the photos taken in this blog post of this set on the keychain are actually the Bible verses I sent her in the mail a few short weeks before her passing. (You can do the same, I got the keychain here.) Heather leaves behind a beautiful family including her husband Jonathan, and four precious children.  Because I lack the words right not to tell you more about Heather, I will share with you the post I left on my personal Facebook page. I am forever grateful for this 13-year friendship. It will impact me until the day I pass, as well.

Ashley Langston and Heather Schisler cancer story

When I started blogging in 2008, I didn’t realize the direction it would take me. A little side hobby turned into a small business formed many deep friendships. One of those greatest friendships was with Heather Story Schisler.

Heather and I started our websites at about the same time. I initially found the internet to be very similar to a middle school hall of mean girls. There were few people I trusted outside of a tiny circle of friends.

I remember feeling like I had just entered the cool crowd when I got invited to a Skype room of 20 female bloggers. Heather was in that room and a side chat began. We made plans to hang out at our first conference, BlogHer in 2010. We were instant friends.

Heather’s smile was infectious. She had a love for Jesus. She had so much wisdom, really understood the profession, and was optimistic. She was always trying something new and with success. Often this profession holds secrets because (honestly) we are a bit in competition for real-estate space on the web. Heather and I both understood there was space for us both. I learned so much from her.

At our first conference, people confused us often. While some might find themselves annoyed, I loved it. This girl was amazing and I didn’t even care if they called me Heather. Later, we were identified as a twosome at conferences and Heather was my right-hand girl.

Since that time, Heather and I have been roommates maybe a half dozen times. We would travel to fun cities together nearly double that. Nashville, Chicago, San Diego, New York City, and even my home, Washington D.C. The times I wasn’t sharing a hotel room with her, she gave me the key to crash or drop off my belongings. I belonged. She was my girl.

“I’m starting hospice tomorrow” were some of her last words to me. I knew already but I took comfort in her telling me. I shared a quick message about our shared memories and being an amazing roommate. However, this conversation just felt so backward. An internet friendship with some of the last words about cancer and hospice… ironically shared over a social media platform that had first bonded us.

Yesterday, Heather lost her earthly body and joined Jesus in Heaven. My heart broke but I took peace in her new body. I took peace in that infectious smile entering the gates of Heaven. I took comfort in her relationship with Jesus and her final home.

I love you, Heather. I am thankful for our memories. When they come back I will rotate them into prayer over the Lord’s plans for your precious family. It will be a joyous reunion when we are one day roommates again in Heaven!

Now you know my amazing friend, Heather.

Cancer is a disease that affects millions of people worldwide. It can be a devastating diagnosis, not only for the patient but also for their loved ones. During this difficult cancer diagnosis time, many people turn to their faith for comfort and healing. The word of the Lord is a source of strength and hope for many, and there are numerous Bible verses that offer comfort and encouragement to those who are battling cancer or any illness or disease.

Understanding Cancer Through Bible Verses

Cancer is a complex illness that can be difficult to understand. Many thoughts and questions can run through one’s head when battling a sickness that feels out of control. However, the Holy Bible provides comfort and hope for those who are facing cancer equipping individuals with the power of the Holy Spirit and the truth of the Lord’s word. The following comforting and healing scriptures can help individuals understand cancer from a biblical perspective.

God is Sovereign

One of the most important things to remember when facing cancer is that God is sovereign. He is in control of all things, including cancer. Job 12:10 says, “In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” This verse reminds us that God is the one who holds our lives in his hands. He is the one who gives us breath and sustains us. Therefore, we can trust him even in the midst of cancer to take care of us and our loved ones.

God is Good

Another important truth to remember is that God is good. Psalm 145:9 says, “The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” This verse reminds us that God is a good and compassionate God. He cares for us and desires our well-being. Even in the midst of cancer, we can trust that God is faithful and that he has our best interests in mind. We are children of God. He is writing an amazing book of our life and this day of trouble is a chapter.

God Provides Comfort

Finally, it is important to remember that God provides comfort to those who are suffering. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” This verse reminds us that God is the source of all comfort. He is our living hope. He is the one who can provide peace and hope in the midst of an illness.

In summary, understanding cancer through a biblical perspective involves recognizing that God is sovereign, that he is good, and that he provides comfort to those who are suffering.

Having the word of God in our hearts acts as a shield and sword. Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that “The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Proverbs 30:5 states “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” The word of the Lord acts of armor to protect us from attacks from the enemy including worry, fear, and strife.

These truths can provide hope and comfort to those who are facing cancer.

These Bible verses serve as a beacon of hope, reminding us of God’s faithfulness and His ability to bring healing, comfort, and peace amidst the storm. For example, if they are undergoing chemotherapy, they may appreciate a gift that will help them feel more comfortable during treatment, such as a cozy blanket or a soft pair of socks. Alternatively, if they are feeling anxious or stressed, a gift that promotes peace, such as a keyring of comforting bible verses may be more appropriate. This gives them encouraging scripture cards they can take with them anywhere.

Turn this gift idea into a chemo care package. You can extend his gift by pairing it with additional thoughtful gifts for someone with cancer. Add everything together in a tote bag they can carry to radiation therapy. Alternatively, make a gift basket they can keep beside them on the bed or couch using some of the following gift ideas.

  • Care package: Put together a care package filled with items that can bring comfort and relaxation from the side effects of treatement, such as a soft blanket, lip balm, cozy socks, scented candles, a journal, ginger candy for nausea, or a soothing lotion for dry skin.
  • Inspirational books: Select books that offer encouragement, inspiration, and hope. Look for memoirs of cancer survivors, devotionals, or books that provide guidance for navigating the challenges of illness.
  • Personalized items: Consider personalized gifts, such as a custom-made bracelet, keychain, or necklace featuring a meaningful symbol or the person’s name. It can serve as a reminder of love and support.
  • Supportive clothing or accessories: Look for clothing items that prioritize comfort, such as soft pajamas, a cozy robe, or silk headscarves. Additionally, a stylish and comfortable hat or cap can help during hair loss due to treatments.
  • Subscription services: Gift them a subscription to a service that can provide entertainment and distraction during treatment, such as a streaming service like Netflix, audiobook service, or a magazine subscription tailored to their interests.
  • Meal delivery service: Arrange for meal deliveries or gift cards to local restaurants to make meal preparation easier for them and their family. Alternatively, you can prepare and freeze homemade meals they can enjoy at their convenience.
  • Quality time and support: Offer your time and companionship by organizing activities or outings that align with their energy levels and preferences. A thoughtful gesture could be planning a relaxing spa day, getting a massage, a picnic in the park, or simply spending quality time together.

Ultimately, the best gifts for a breast cancer patient or someone with cancer are those that show your love and support while also being practical and helpful. It’s important to remember that everyone’s experience with cancer is different, so it’s essential to take the time to understand their needs and preferences before choosing a gift.

May these uplifting Bible verses provide you peace, a joyful heart, and strength.  My prayers are with you as you or your family member battles this illness.

Lord God, you are the father of mercies. A great physician. I pray for those mourning. I pray for those in fear and fighting cancer. Please protect these individuals. These faithful servants. May you wipe away every tear in a time of distress. May you be their steadfast love and treasured portion in a time when their flesh feels weak. Get ready to break the ice with a bit of mall madness! A Mall Scavenger Hunt Checklist is fun for everyone from youth, to teens, and even adults. It can be used for birthday parties, office parties, or even youth groups. Print this mall scavenger or make your own with the scavenger hunt template. Let the games begin!

awesome scavenger hunts at the mall

Mall scavenger hunts have become increasingly popular in recent years as a fun and interactive way to spend time with friends and family. These scavenger hunts typically involve teams of players racing through the mall to complete various challenges and collect items on a predetermined list.

The challenges can range from taking selfies with strangers to finding specific items in stores, and the first team to complete all the challenges and return to the starting point wins. Mall scavenger hunts are a great way to explore the mall, discover new stores, and have fun while doing it.

Reasons for a Scavenger Hunt at the Mall

Whether you’re planning a birthday party, team-building event, or just looking for a fun activity to do with friends, a mall scavenger hunt is a great option. With so many malls to choose from and endless possibilities for challenges, it’s no wonder why these hunts have become so popular.

Birthday Parties

A mall scavenger hunt birthday party is pretty epic for a birthday girl or boy. It is best for older kids, tweens, and teens. It does take a brave parent and requires forethought to establish how to do a mall scavenger hunt birthday party but with a little bit of preplanning your son/daughter will create amazing memories that people talk about forever. When creating a scavenger hunt at the mall, make sure you have party guests you trust, establish a few rules, and have several meet-up locations so you can check on the safety of all players. It’s not a bad idea to enlist the help of a few party animal adults who can join each team so the youth always have an adult with them.

Office Parties

If you are in charge of planning office parties, you know how challenging coming up with new ideas can be. Scavenger hunts are great for team-building and icebreakers for getting to know your events. Adults have to work together while doing something juvenile and silly. At your next Christmas Party, employee onboarding, or even summer celebration, try out this fun office party idea.

Youth Group Activities

Church youth groups are always looking for clean fun. If you want something a little different and out of the box, try a public scavenger hunt. This can be used as a selfie challenge or photo scavenger hunt. Players can text items they find back to a central person or everyone can spread out and the score can be tallied once everyone returns at an assigned time. Before playing, remind the youth group who they represent so they don’t run like wild cats and dogs around the mall.

How to Plan a Mall Scavenger Hunt

how to have a mall scavenger hunt

Planning is an essential part of organizing a successful mall scavenger hunt. In this section, we will discuss the three main aspects of planning: selecting a mall, creating a scavenger hunt list of items, and setting the rules.

Selecting a Mall

When selecting a mall for the scavenger hunt, it is important to consider the size and layout of the mall. The mall should be large enough to provide a variety of locations and items to search for, but not so large that it becomes overwhelming for the participants. Additionally, the layout of the mall should be easy to navigate, with clear signage and maps available.

Creating the List of Items

The list of items is a crucial component of the scavenger hunt. It should be challenging enough to keep participants engaged, but not so difficult that it becomes frustrating. It is important to include a mix of items, such as specific stores or products, landmarks within the mall, and unique or unusual items that require creativity to find.

Example Mall Scavenger Hunt Checklist might include:

  • Team with a french fry they did not buy.
  • The team posed with a mannequin.
  • The entire team wearing sunglasses.
  • With a gumball Machine.
  • The team riding the escalator.

To make the list of items more organized, it can be helpful to categorize them by location or theme. For example, items located in the food court, items related to fashion, items in a particular department store, or items that require participants to take a photo with a stranger.

To keep things simple, we have created a list of scavenger hunt items to get you started. You may edit the mall scavenger hunt list to your own mall. Having a personalized list of your local mall or even guest of honor makes the scavenger hunt quite personalized.

Setting the Rules

Setting clear rules is important to ensure that the scavenger hunt runs smoothly and safely. Rules should include guidelines for behavior, such as no running or pushing, as well as instructions for how to approach store employees and other mall patrons.

It is also important to establish a time limit for the scavenger hunt and to provide participants with a clear start and end point, as well as potential meet-up spots in between.

Finally, is this a contest with teammates and one clear winner? In this case, scavenger hunt prizes should be determined in advance, and rules for determining winners should be established. Does photographic evidence matter? Does the entire list need to be completed? Is there a bonus for the first team o finish? Etc.

Execution

Dividing into Teams

To start the Mall Scavenger Hunt, the participants should be divided into teams. The number of teams will depend on the number of participants and the size of the mall. Ideally, each team should have at least three members. It is recommended to have a team leader who will be responsible for keeping track of the clues and making sure the team stays on track. An adult is a great option for a team leader when doing this activity with tweens and younger kids.

Starting the Hunt

Once the teams have been formed, the hunt can begin. Each team will be given a list of clues and a time limit to complete the hunt. The entire team needs to stay together. The teams should start at the same time and meet back at a predetermined location at the end of the time limit. It is important to make sure everyone understands the rules and expectations before beginning the hunt.

Keeping Score

To keep the score, each team will be awarded points for each clue they find and complete correctly. The team with the most points at the end of the time limit is the winner. It is recommended to have a neutral party keep track of the scores to avoid any disputes. Before the hunt begins, consider if there are bonus points for funny photos, finding the same clue in multiple ways, or completing the treasure hunt first.

The execution of a Mall Scavenger Hunt can be a fun and exciting activity for all participants. By dividing into teams, starting the hunt, and keeping score, the participants can have a competitive and enjoyable experience filling all participants with warm memories and plenty of friendly banter. How to Plan a Museum Scavenger Hunt

planning a museum scavenger hunt

Planning a museum scavenger hunt can be a fun and exciting activity for groups of all ages. Here are some tips and tricks to help make your museum scavenger hunt a success:

Step 1: Choose a Museum

The first step is to choose a museum that is appropriate for your group. Consider the age range and interests of your participants, as well as the size and layout of the museum. You may also want to consider the cost of admission and any special exhibits or events that are happening at the museum. If hosting a birthday party, connect with the museum staff ahead of time and see if they have party packages. Make a reservation and be sure to set a time and place for your guests.

Step 2: Determine the Rules

Before you start planning your scavenger hunt, you need to determine the rules. Will participants be allowed to use their phones or other devices to help them find clues? Will there be a time limit for completing the scavenger hunt? Does only photo evidence count? Does everyone need to complete the entire list or are the winners the hunts that complete the most items? Go over the info prior to the treasure hunt mission. Make sure everyone is clear on the scavenger hunt rules before you begin.

Step 3: Create Clues

The next step is to create clues for your scavenger hunt. Make sure the clues are challenging but not too difficult, and that they are appropriate for the age and interests of your group. For older kids, you may want to include a mix of questions, riddles, and physical challenges.

To make your life easier, we have created an editable Museum Scavenger Hunt Printable. This means you can use the scavenger hunt template we created or make your own creating a scavenger hunt list that fits your local museum. The list is so much fun and saves you a lot of time. Plus it’s cute too.

Step 4: Map Out the Hunt

Once you have created your clues, it’s time to map out the hunt. Create a map or diagram of the museum, and mark the locations of each clue. Some museums will have a virtual map online that you can print and mark on. Then make copies to print out copies to participants. Make sure the clues are spread out evenly throughout the museum, and that they are not too close together.

Step 5: Test the Hunt

Before you launch your scavenger hunt, it’s a good idea to test it out. Have a few people try out the hunt to make sure the clues are clear and that the hunt is fun and challenging. If you cannot make a museum trip ahead of time, try a virtual tour to test out the hunt.

Step 6: Launch the Hunt

Once you have tested the hunt, it’s time to launch it. Make sure everyone is clear on the rules and the locations of the clues, and then let the scavenger hunt begin! You can provide as much information as you want ahead of time or let participants go blindly into the museum on their own.

Step 7: Decide a Prize

Will this scavenger hunt have fun awards for the winners? Come up with themed prizes or even “participation trophies” like ice cream for the entire group after the event is over. Fun scavenger hunt prizes might include…

  • Medals
  • Trophies
  • Souvenir Shop Gifts
  • Birthday Party Favors
  • Candy
  • Treats
  • Stickers
  • Sketch Pads
  • Art Kits

Planning a museum scavenger hunt can be a fun and rewarding experience. By following these tips, you can create a scavenger hunt that is challenging, engaging, and fun for everyone involved.

Want a super fun office party game for your next event? Try this printable office scavenger hunt for the workplace. This game for work is a great icebreaker game and team-building activity. Turn this hunt into an office-wide competition. Let the games begin!

super fun office scavenger hunt ideas

Perhaps the word epic and office party aren’t usually attached. I mean, for a party to be epic it requires fun decor, good food, laughter, and good conversations. That isn’t always accomplished especially with hanging out with a crowd you might not choose socially. That being said, it is possible to pull off an epic office party with a little bit of planning. This office party treasure hunt creates a bit of friendly competition, turning a dull office event into a good office party.

Let’s take a look at how to pull off an epic office party that everyone will enjoy.

What are good Office Party ideas?

fun office party ideas including scavenger hunt

To quickly boost company culture, come together with a fun office party idea. There are many of creative ideas for office parties including office Olympics, murder mysteries escape rooms, amazing races, and themed parties. No matter what you choose, there is one thing they all should have in common.

The best office party ideas include…

  • A fun theme
  • Entertainment
  • Music
  • Awards and rewards
  • Adult beverages
  • Activities

One item hat brings forth fun prizes, great entertainment, and a fun theme is an office scavenger hunt. Let’s look at the 5 w’s of workplace treasure hunts nad how to create one epic party game that everyone is talking about for a long time.

Work Scavenger Hunt

In order to create a good scavenger hunt for the workplace, it’s important to address the who, what, when, where, and why. Answering the five Ws gives you direction and purpose for hosting a team building scavenger hunt. Once you have a purpose, the rest can fall into place.

Who can participate in scavenger hunts?

While this is meant to be an office scavenger hunt for adults, the truth is it’s easy-peasy. Even kids could do it. That being said, focusing on the purpose of the scavenger hunt (icebreakers, team-building, office party entertainment) gives you the proper audience. This scavenger hunt for the workplace is intended for many people.

Adult players can include:

  • The boss
  • HR
  • Team leaders
  • Team members
  • Coworkers
  • New employees
  • Office divisions
  • Workgroups
  • Administrative assistants
  • Custodial crew
  • Interns

Since an adult scavenger hunt brings people together, decide what team or group of people need a pick-me-up, team bonding, or deeper connections.

When to have an office scavenger hunt

The whens can include any time of the year. In fact, the more spontaneous, the more appreciated. Removing the traditional workday and playing fun games gives everyone a breath of fresh air.

Try this work scavenger hunt for the following “whens”:

  • Team-Building Event
  • New Location Change
  • Milestone Celebrations & Anniversaries
  • New Management Introduction
  • Office Training
  • Family Events
  • Employee Orientation
  • Holiday Party
  • End of the Year Accomplishments
  • New Employee Onboarding
  • Birthday Parties for Boss or Employees
  • No Reason

Where

Have this hunt in a small place like the cloffice or (even better) a huge place like the entire office building. For most people, this office scavenger hunt will take place in the office. If having this office treasure hunt at a venue or event location, then you might have to stage office items (like do you really have a highlighter at the office Christmas party?) You can display items around the venue or you can use the editable office scavenger hunt template to add your own ideas that fit your party theme.

Why have an office scavenger hunt?

Now to the why have a scavenger hunt? I bet you could give me a billion reasons of why this office worksheet would be a perfect fit for your company event. However, if you need a few ideas, we have them.

  • Boost Employee Engagement
  • Create Employee Morale
  • Build Team Bonding
  • Build Company Culture
  • Improve Communication
  • Enhance Team Problem-Solving Skills
  • Break the Ice with Random People
  • Get out of your comfort zones

Scavenger Hunt Rules

Once you understand the 5 Ws for the reason for your event, you can focus on the rules.

Types of work scavenger hunt…

  • Individuals vs Indivudals – It’s every man/woman for themselves
  • Teams vs Teams – Divide your colleagues into smaller teams.
  • Team vs Clock – Stay Focused on Interaction Within the Team

Once you have established teams or individuals, you can focus on the time limit, how will items be collected, and team meeting points.

Time: Set time. Can this be done with 30 minutes of activity? Have all players start at the same spot and end at the same spot. Dock points for teams that arrive late to the finishing spot.

Items: How will evidence be collected? Are photos enough evidence or do the items need to be collected? Or do both as snapping photos as evidence creates some great photos for the employee bulletin boards.

Checkpoints: As a scavenger hunt option, you can require checkpoints at certain times for a general idea of how players are doing or to capture the fun with videos.

It’s important the scavenger hunt host has these Scavenger hunt rules established ahead. Then once everyone is ready to play, go over all the scavenger hunt directions before the amazing race begins.

Office Scavenger Hunt List

Planning an office scavenger hunt doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, it can be as easy as pressing the printer button (unless you have one of those large industrial printers that always get jammed and the repair company has to be called.)

printable office party scavenger hunt list

This scavenger hunt list for the office includes…

  • Ream of paper
  • A Starbucks Cup
  • Leftover food
  • Read plant
  • 3 different colored rubber bands
  • Fax cover sheet
  • Orange highlighter
  • Stress-free relief toy
  • Pink paper clip
  • Roll of toilet paper
  • Anything with a cat on it

If you don’t like the ideas on this list of items, don’t worry – there are plenty of fun scavenger hunt list ideas you can add.

How to personalize a workplace scavenger hunt

The best thing about this work scavenger hunt is this is an editable PDF. That means you can add your own clue ideas. By adding your own scavenger hunt ideas, you will create inside jokes and office humor. Add fun ideas like “John’s red stapler” or “Sarah’s unicorn tape dispenser.” With each of these office items, there is only one. That means when you make this a team vs team scavenger hunt, only one team will come back with the item causing different results and different scores.

In addition to fun-specific items that fit individuals, you might be hosting a workplace icebreaker for new employees. In this case, add items to your list that include company history, missions, and values. Have new coworkers hunt for a sign or plaque that lists the company’s mission and values. Don’t forget the company’s history like who founded the company, grab his business card. Or when did the company begin?

Get creative with your ideas like…

  • Find a penny with the company start year
  • Find a picture of Paul’s cat
  • Get the owner’s business card
  • Find a copy of the company’s mission statement
  • Grab Millie’s slippers (hint: they are under her desk!)

How can you make this list of scavenger hunt ideas perfect for your office?

Office Party Scavenger Hunt Prizes

When it comes to workplace scavenger hunt rewards, there are two options. For party prizes, presents, and gifts for the winners of an office party hunt, you can use both tangible rewards and intangible rewards.

Intangible rewards have no monetary value. They can be as simple as declaring a team “the winner” or giving a verbal “thank you” or the day off. The other idea is tangible prizes. These are things you can physically touch like a cash bonus or gift certificate.

While the winners will mostly appreciate the prize of leaderboard bragging rights, there are plenty of fun ideas for prizes for an office party scavenger hunt.  The more tangible the gift, the great the stakes and the more likely your participants will get into the game.  These items will bring a feeling of appreciation.

See what’s in the budget and come up with some great ideas for tangible rewards that motivate your employees.

what are good office party prizes and rewards

Scavenger hunt prizes can include…

  • Travel vouchers
  • Trophies
  • Wine bottles
  • Small liquor bottles
  • Lottery tickets
  • Gas cards
  • Fun office supplies
  • Lunch
  • Restaurant certificates
  • Spa vouchers
  • Movie tickets

Now that we know how to put on an epic office scavenger hunt, grab the printable scavenger hunt for the office and go ahead and make it your own! Let the amazing race begin.
