Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. Tea for Two Tea-rrific Tea Party Ideas

Have you ever dreamed of going to a high tea in London? It’s such a treat to imagine spending an afternoon in a fashionable outfit with all the tea party food (and tea, of course) that you could want! I’m sure that most of you have memories of tea parties you put on as a child. The great thing about a tea party is that it never goes out of style!

This is your sign to relive your childhood tea parties, with a grown-up twist. If your little ones want to get involved and have a tea party of their own, save these ideas for their next playdate or birthday party! These ideas for tea and tea party food inspiration are amazing for any tea-riffic tea party. Pinkies up!

What is a tea party?

A tea party is a festive, tea-centric gathering. While it can take place anytime, it is often in the afternoon and includes tea party food, namely mini cakes, bite-sized sandwiches, and other light refreshments.

Tea parties are especially lovely in the spring and summer, and even better if they take place in a sunny outdoor area. An outdoor party idea is great for distancing but still coming together in celebration.

Of course, you can’t forget the tea!

What teas are best for a tea party?

If the day is hot, it may be best to opt for an iced tea. To become the ultimate host, let your guests select from a complete list of teas, including…

  • Earl Grey Tea
  • Herbal Tea
  • Green Tea
  • Lavender Tea
  • Rose Tea
  • Chamomile Tea
  • Mint Tea

While many herbal teas are naturally decaffeinated, make sure to include a completely decaf option for those who are sensitive to caffeine. Looking to go the extra mile and include all the fixings? Serve up your tea with your guests’ choice of lemon, a sugar cube, milk, honey, or edible flower infused ice cubes!

Which foods should you serve at a tea party?

Your traditional bites include finger sandwiches, mini cakes or pastries, and light refreshments. A tea party spread is typically meant to be a light meal rather than a gigantic, opulent spread, so there’s no need to go crazy! Quality over quantity is the best way to go for your tea party menu.

Typical tea party food includes…

  • Finger sandwiches
  • Mini cupcakes
  • Macaroons
  • Fruit salads
  • Biscuits, scones or tea cookies
  • Tarts
  • Sponge cakes

You’ll be ready to host a tea party fit for a queen with these ideas for tea! These Tea for Two Tea-rrific Tea Party Ideas will prepare you to host a fabulous garden party with your friends. Enjoy!

Elf Portrait Printables Elf on the Shelf Ideas

I took a photo of my Elf and added a beautiful winterscape backdrop to create a Elf Portrait Printable for you all! Of course, this portrait must be his new school photo he wanted us to see!

Elf on the Shelf Ideas

As a reminder, we are bringing on the latest Elf on the Shelf Ideas. We have new ideas every day in the month of November and December, just for you! Don’t forget, for six years we have brought you new elf ideas.  You can view our Elf on the Shelf Master List for a full list of ideas including every idea we have ever done.

For many of these Elf on the Shelf ideas, make sure you have an elf that can bend. You can do that easily with our Bendable Elf on the Shelf tutorial.  This particular idea, doesn’t need a bendable Elf, but having a kit is important for future ideas.

Elf on the Shelf Portrait Photo Gallery Wall Frames

Elf Portrait Printable

For this Elf on the Shelf Idea, we printed off self portraits of Elf on the Shelf and plastered them all over our refrigerator. It was quite comical to look at in the kitchen all day. It was a reminder that our Elf is always watching.

Step up this Elf on the Shelf Idea by replacing family photos with Elf. This idea is perfect for a family photo gallery wall. If you have family photos, replace your photos with our Elf Portrait Printable.

I would suggest you carefully place your Elf in a watchful position. Clearly, putting Elf on the refrigerator handle (as we did for this photo) can cause some hungry tummies all day. If your placement wasn’t perfect and your Elf does happen to fall, don’t forget our Elf on the Shelf Magic Grippers (so no magic is lost) when you move Elf to his proper place for the day.

As always, we bring you unique ideas with very little Elf on the Shelf supplies. Use your Elf and portrait printable we will provide. If you decide to put your Elf in a Photo Gallery Wall, you will also need picture frames.

Elf on the Shelf Letter to Older Kids

Are your older kids involved in Elf on the Shelf. As the kids got older and still wanted visits from Elf, ideas became complicated. For one, sometimes I was in bed before the kids. That meant, either Elf did not move, or he/she moved when they were at school.

Elf on the Shelf Letter Template to Older Kids

This letter fully explains why Elf might move at different times of the day.

Maybe you knew it, or maybe not,
But I have been back awhile and watching you a lot.
Now that you’re older and staying up late,
Some of my trips to Santa, may have to wait.
I may travel at night, when you’re snuggled in tight.
I may travel when you’re in school, and out of my sight.
So please be patient when you’re looking for me,
Here or there we will have lots of Elf fun, you will see!

What is Elf on the Shelf?

What is Elf on the Shelf? This is Elf on the Shelf Explained in one minute.  Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. This holiday tradition has an Elf on the Shelf book and a Scout Elf doll. The Scout Elf book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits.

While Elf on the Shelf lives at the North Pole, he begins visiting families every Christmas season checking on naughty or nice behavior of children. The Elf on the Shelf first visits each Thanksgiving. Each family is able to name their special elf.  Each evening, Scot Elf returns from the North Pole to report to Santa on a family’s behavior. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. You must find him!

It is important VERY IMPORTANT, you do not touch The Elf on the Shelf or her/his Christmas magic will be lost! The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve.

Elf on the Shelf Rules

There are a few rules when it comes to adopting an Elf.

Name your Elf on the Shelf

Give your North Pole visitor a name. Look at our 50+ ideas of Elf on the Shelf Names.

Do Not Touch Elf on the Shelf

Elf looses his magic if he is touched by humans. Do not touch Elf on the Shelf. If you need to move Elf (for example, he/she has fallen) use our Magic Elf Grippers to move Elf. Also read about Elf being touched in the In Case of Elftastrophe an Elf on the Shelf Emergency Guide Book.

Elf Moves at Night

No matter what, Elf cannot move when you are watching. Elf on the Shelf moves at night when everyone is asleep. There may be a few occasion when Elf will need to move during the day when the kids are at school. Sometimes Elves fall asleep too. Look at our list of Reasons Elf Did Not Move plus a tip to make sure he/she moves each day.

Elf Cannot Talk

Elf is always listening, but Elf cannot talk. Tell Elf about your day, about your Christmas Wish List. You can even leave notes for Santa with Elf and he/she will deliver them at night to Santa Claus.

Elf Must Return Home at Christmas

Elf must go back to his home in the North Pole at Christmas. Look for a postcard. Elf might send you mail on his vacation or from his home! Typically Elf leaves on Christmas Eve night with Santa on the sleigh. Some elves stay and watch you open presents, returning to their home with magic the next day.

Can parents touch the elf on the shelf?

Frequently it’s asked, can adults touch Elf on the Shelf.   Parents, it’s important to follow the rules of Elf on the Shelf. Elf must never be touched. However, if Elf has an accident or falls, it is important to move Elf from any dangerous spots (for example, the floor where your pet dog might pick it up.) You can use these Magic Elf on the Shelf grippers, so parents can touch and move Elf on the Shelf without actually “touching” the Elf.

Parents may also use a gloved hand OR if Elf must be touched with the skin of a human, Elf should sit out for another 24 hours.

Attention Parents: See the list of frequently asked questions at the Official Elf on the Shelf Page.
