Let’s tell the story of Barbie and the Elf on the Shelf.
Elf Meets Barbie: The Beginning
Barbie had always been a fan of Christmas, and she loved decorating her house with all sorts of festive ornaments. One year, she decided to add a new member to help her with the Christmas decor family – an Elf on the Shelf. Little did she know that this tiny elf would soon become an integral part of her life, and the two would embark on many adventures together and one day get married.
The First Encounter
It was a cold December morning when Barbie first met her new elf friend. She was sipping her coffee and admiring her Christmas tree when she noticed a small figure perched on one of the Christmas branches. It was the Elf on the Shelf, and he had come to keep an eye on her and report back to Santa.
Barbie was delighted to have the elf in her home, and she quickly introduced herself. The funny elf, who went by the name Rupert, was shy at first, but he soon warmed up to Barbie’s friendly demeanor. They started in the kitchen baking cookies for Santa. (Photo credit Ellie and Mac)
The two spent the whole day getting to know each other, and Rupert was amazed by Barbie’s kindness and generosity. Of course, under the mistletoe, Elf and Barbie shared their first kiss. (Photo credit Little Hiccups)
Falling in Love
As the days went by, Rupert grew more and more attached to Barbie. He loved spending time with her and watching her go about her daily routine. Elf fell in love with Barbie. He let her know in a candy cane heart letter.
Barbie and Elf spent the next summer at the beach. She dressed as a mermaid and Elf rode the Barbie Jet Ski.
The Proposal
One day, he decided to take their friendship to the next level and Elf proposed to Barbie. It might look like it moved rather quickly, but we both know Elf is a doll and well, Barbie is too. Let’s keep the story rolling, please…
Barbie was taken aback by the elf’s sudden proposal, but she couldn’t deny that she had grown fond of him too. She accepted his proposal, and the two became inseparable. They went on many adventures together, from exploring the North Pole to baking Christmas cookies.
The Wedding
First comes love and then comes marriage… After a few months of blissful dating, Rupert and Barbie decided to tie the knot. They had a beautiful winter wedding, with snowflakes falling gently from the sky and carolers singing in the background. (Photo credit Not Quite Susie)
The ceremony was attended by all of their friends and family, including Santa Claus himself. Their reindeer pet held the sign and acted as the ring bearer. (Photo credit Polar Square Designs )
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in a cozy cabin in the woods, snuggled up by the fire and sipping hot cocoa and (of course) sugary syrup. They knew that their love would only grow stronger with each passing Christmas season, and they were excited to spend many more holidays together.
In the cabin was a special, couples-only mini marshmallow bath. It was a romantic honeymoon. (Photo credit Source.)
And so, the story of Elf on the Shelf and Barbie began. They would go on to have many more adventures, bringing joy and laughter to children all over the world.
Barbie’s Dream House Adventures
Barbie’s Dream House is the perfect place for Elf on the Shelf to have some fun and mischief. After their honeymoon, they settled home and began to enjoy the daily life of being newlyweds.
Here are some ideas to inspire you:
Elf House Tour
Barbie’s Dream House has endless rooms and stories, which means there are plenty of places for Elf on the Shelf to explore. Create a tour of the house for Elf on the Shelf, complete with stops at all the best spots. As a member of the Elf moving committee who needs adult Elf humor just as much as the kids, you can even make it a little funny and act like you are on MTV Cribs.
Here are some ideas for stops on the tour:
- The kitchen, where Elf can cook up some mischief with Barbie’s cooking supplies
- The living room, where Elf can relax on the couch and watch TV
- The bathroom, where Elf can take a bubble bath in Barbie’s tub
- The bedroom, where Elf can try on Barbie’s clothes and accessories
- The closet, where Elf can hide in Barbie’s shoes or clothes
Make sure to take plenty of pictures of Elf on the tour to share with your family and friends.
Barbie and Elf Slumber Party
What could be more fun than a slumber party with Barbie and Elf on the Shelf? Set up a sleeping area for Elf in Barbie’s room, complete with a mini bed and blankets. Then, have Barbie and Elf stay up late playing games, watching movies, and snacking on popcorn and other treats.
To make the slumber party even more fun, create a list of activities for Barbie and Elf to do together. Here are some ideas:
- Play dress up with Barbie’s clothes and accessories
- Host a movie night with popcorn
- Have a pillow fight (Photo credit Travels with Choppy)
- Tell ghost stories
- Make friendship bracelets
- Play board games or card games
- Play a game of Twister with Elf
At the sleepover, everyone can enjoy a roller coaster ride. Elf on the Shelf loves the dryer runs and Barbie and his friends will love the ride too.
For the slumber party idea, incorporate sleepover party games for your child. They can have their own slumber party too. Beside the Elf, you can even have a letterboard note announcing how much sleep was not gotten.
Barbie even let Elf have a sock sleeping bag slumber party with his best friends – what a doll!
With these ideas, Barbie’s Dream House is sure to be a favorite spot for Elf on the Shelf.
Fashion Frenzy
Barbie’s Wardrobe Raid
Barbie’s wardrobe is a treasure trove of fashionable items that can inspire some creative Elf on the Shelf ideas. Elves can raid Barbie’s closet and use her clothes (or Ken’s clothes – guess he left some behind?) to create fun and unique outfits for themselves. (Photo credit Source)
One idea is to have the elf dress up in Barbie’s clothes and strike a pose on a miniature runway made of cardboard or paper. The elf can also accessorize with Barbie’s jewelry and shoes for added flair.
Another idea is to have the elf create a mini fashion shoot with Barbie’s clothes. The elf can use a toy camera and set up a scene with a miniature backdrop and photo booth props. This can make for a fun and playful photo opportunity for kids and parents alike.
Elf’s Fashion Show
The elf can also put on a fashion show with Barbie’s clothes for the other toys in the playroom. The elf can use a makeshift runway and invite other toys to be the audience. The elf can also make fun commentary about the outfits as they are modeled. Just write down personalized messages on Elf Speech Bubbles – oh the things Elf might be caught saying! (Photo credit Little Hiccups)
To make the fashion show even more exciting, the elf can create a scorecard and rate each outfit on a scale of 1 to 10. This can encourage kids to get creative and come up with their own unique outfits for the elf to model.
Overall, raiding Barbie’s wardrobe can be a fun and creative way to come up with Elf on the Shelf ideas. It can also inspire kids to think outside the box and come up with their own fashion-forward ideas. You can have your child lay out Barbie/Elf clothing the night before of what they want their family elf to wear the next day!
Holiday Mischief
Barbie and her Elf on the Shelf friend have been up to some holiday mischief! Check out these fun hijinks to add some mischievous ideas to your holiday season.
Christmas Tree Chaos
Barbie’s Elf on the Shelf friend decided to have some fun with the Christmas tree. They rearranged the ornaments and made everything pink, hung boas from the branches, and even tied a string of lights around the tree like a scarf. It was a silly sight, but Barbie couldn’t help but laugh at the cleverness of her mischievous friend and how adorable her pink Chrsitmas tree was.
Snowball Fight
One morning, Barbie woke up to find her Elf on the Shelf friend had started a snowball fight with some of her other dolls. They had created a fort out of pillows and blankets and were having a blast throwing cotton balls and mini marshmallows “snowballs” at each other. Barbie couldn’t resist joining in on the fun and soon the whole house was filled with laughter, snowball fights, and (of course) snow angels. (Photo credit Source)
Later, Elf on the Shelf camped out with his friend in a snowball igloo. Of course, Barbie stayed inside because anyone who loves a Dream House doesn’t prefer the great outdoors or anything less than a 5-star hotel.
Barbie’s Convertible Joyride
Barbie’s Elf on the Shelf friend decided to take Barbie’s convertible for a joyride. They buckled up, put on some shades, and hit the open road. Barbie was shocked when she found her car in a different spot than where she left it, but couldn’t help but laugh when she saw her Elf on the Shelf friend behind the wheel. Barbie’s Car Repair
After the joyride, Barbie needed to repair the flat tire on her car. Of course, her husband Elf was able to fix Barbie’s car so she and her gal pal could quickly get back on the road.
These Elf on the Shelf ideas with Barbie are sure to bring some holiday cheer and laughter to your home. Get creative and have fun with your own mischievous ideas!
Culinary Capers
The Elf on the Shelf is always looking for new ways to have fun and get into mischief. One way to do that is by teaming up with Barbie in the kitchen. Here are some culinary capers that your Elf can get into with Barbie.
Baking with Barbie
Barbie loves to bake, and she’s always looking for a new recipe to try. Your Elf can help her out by leaving a recipe book open to a page with a delicious-looking dessert. Barbie will be delighted to find the recipe and start baking. Your Elf can even leave a note with a suggestion for a fun twist on the recipe. (Photo credit Source)
To take it up a notch, your Elf can rearrange the ingredients in the kitchen. For example, he can replace the sugar with salt or swap the flour with baking powder. Barbie will be in for a surprise when she starts baking or your child starts baking delicious cookies with the ingredients Elf on the Shelf left out!
Elf’s Candy Cane Craze
The Elf on the Shelf loves candy canes, and he can’t get enough of them during the holiday season. Barbie can help him out by making some candy cane-inspired treats.
One idea is to make candy cane cookies. Barbie can make a simple sugar cookie dough and add crushed candy canes to the mix. The result is a delicious, festive cookie that your Elf will love. Another idea is to make candy cane hot chocolate. Barbie can melt some white chocolate and add crushed candy canes to the mix. She can then add the mixture to hot milk for a delicious and festive drink.
Your Elf can leave a note with a suggestion for a fun twist on the recipe or leave some candy canes for Barbie to use in her baking. Elf can also leave a candy cane hunt out for your child to participate in with all the extra candy canes around. Once the candy canes are found, recipes can be made!
Your Scout Elf on the Shelf can have a lot of fun in the kitchen with Barbie. Whether they’re baking together or making candy cane-inspired treats, there are plenty of culinary capers to be had.
The Grand Finale
The Elf on the Shelf has been up to mischief for weeks, and now it’s time for the grand finale. Here are two ideas for the final night with Barbie and her Elf on the Shelf.
The Christmas Eve Ball
Barbie loves to dance, and her elf is no exception. For the grand finale, the elf can set up a mini ballroom with a tiny disco ball, streamers, and balloons. He can even invite some of Barbie’s other dolls to join in the fun. The elf can be dressed up in a tuxedo or a ball gown, and he can dance the night away with his new friends.
“Dancing with the girls and partying all night, you should have seen us, it was such a sight!” Grab this Elf on the Shelf Free printable note and add it to your festive Elf ball.

To make the ball even more special, the elf can leave a note for Barbie inviting her to the ball. The note can be written in glitter or on a fancy piece of paper. Barbie will be delighted to receive an invitation to the Christmas Eve Ball. At the Christmas Eve Ball, make sure to have a kissing booth!
Barbie’s Suprise
And of course, first comes love, then comes marriage, and then comes baby. Grab a cute Elf on the Shelf baby for Barbie and her man. There are plenty of cute little Elf on the Shelf baby ideas for the end of your Elf season and the year to come.
With these two ideas, the Elf on the Shelf can end his visit with Barbie on a high note. She will be thrilled with the Christmas Eve Ball a baby surprise, and she will remember her time with the Elf fondly until next year.
