Learn what is a time capsule and what to put inside. Plus, download and print this adorable Kindergarten to High School Time Capsule Printable: A printable time capsule to keep throughout your child’s school years filled with the best of memories.

Time stands still for no one and that is especially true when your kids are growing up. Turn back time and celebrate how things have changed with a time capsule! This time capsule printable is so much fun and it’s a great way to keep those precious memories alive.

What is a Time Capsule?

A time capsule is a container that is filled with items that represent a specific time period. Time capsule ideas are items including anything from photos and clothes to toys and trinkets.

The purpose of a time capsule is to put these items in the keepsake and bury it somewhere so that it can be opened at a later date to remind people of what life was like during that time. Burying it, might just be putting it in the deep crevices of a utility room or other hidden room in the house. A perfect time to open this is a milestone event like a birthday, graduation or wedding.

What to Put in Your Time Capsule?

what to put inside a time capsule photos

There are no set rules for what you should put in your time capsule, but here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Photographs of you, your friends, and your family
  • Newspaper clippings from the time period
  • A list of songs that were popular during that time
  • Movie tickets or posters
  • Clothing items from the time period
  • Sports memorabilia

In our time capsule worksheets, we include the following…

  • Teacher
  • School
  • Photo
  • Favorite Subject
  • Favorite TV show
  • Favorite Movie
  • Favorite Book
  • Favorite Song
  • Favorite Food
  • Favorite Activity
  • Favorite Saying/Quote

The sheets also provide an opportunity to answer the following time capsule questions…

  • When I grow up I want to be…
  • My best friends are…
  • I’m really awesome at…
  • After school I like to…
  • Next year I look forward to…
  • This year I got better at…
  • Something new I learned

How to Make a Time Capsule?

There are lots of different ways to make a time capsule, but here is one easy way to do it:

  1. Choose a time capsule container. This could be anything from a cardboard photo box to a plastic Sterilite container with a lid.
  2.  Decorate the container however you like. You can paint it, draw on it, or use stickers to decorate it.
  3. Collect items that represent the time period. As mentioned earlier, these could be photos, newspaper clippings, clothing items, etc. Anything that is important during the time you’re representing works.
  4. Put the items in the container and seal it shut. The sealing process depends on how you’re going to store the container until you open it. If the plan is to bury the time capsule, you’ll want to make sure it is sealed tightly so that water cannot get in. If you’re going to store it inside, a simple piece of tape over the lid will suffice.
  5. Choose a date for when you want to open the time capsule. This could be 5 years from now, 10 years from now, or even 50 years from now.
  6. Label the container with the date and a description of what is inside.
  7. Bury or store the capsule somewhere safe.

How to Open a Time Capsule?

There are two ways to handle a time capsule. The first way is to simply bury it and forget about it until the date that you have chosen to open it. The second way is to store it in a safe place and then open it on the date that you have chosen.
If you want to bury your time capsule, it is a good idea to mark the spot so that you can find it later. If you choose to store your time capsule, make sure to put it in a place where it will not be damaged by water or bugs.

Christian Easter Crafts – Resurrection Gardens

Why do we celebrate Easter? As Christians, we celebrate Easter because it recognizes the RESURRECTION of Jesus. Jesus was killed by crucifixion on a Friday (Good Friday) and then actually came back to life on the following Sunday (Easter.) Easter is often adorned with bunnies, eggs, and pretty dresses, but there are many ways we can still incorporate the “cute” things of Easter by not forgetting the reason for this season.

Before you get started, be sure to save this Easter Games List PDF for gatherings large and small, family Easter parties, youth groups, neighborhood playdates and more. See more Easter Games for Kids.

Copycat Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese

A home-style side dish you can perfect at home. This Copycat Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese uses elbow macaroni, butter, garlic and a blend of cheddar and Parmesan Romano cheeses.

copycat chick-fil-a home-tyle mac and cheese recipe

Oh man! Second to the chicken, one of the biggest gifts Chick-fil-A has given us is the Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese. I had the privilege of sampling Chick-fil-A’s Macaroni and Cheese at a private dining when this yummy goodness hit the market. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical before arrival (there isn’t much that can pull me away from Chick-fil-A Waffle Fries) but you guys, this side decision is going to be a hard one. It was incredibly tasty and reminded me of my own Home-Style Macaroni and Cheese recipe.

If you love a classic macaroni side dish, this one is easy and oh so tasty. It’s a simple recipe that you can make as an entrée from your family any night of the week. It also has easy prep if you want to prepare everything and then store it in the freezer for another day. I love freezer meals you can grab and go!

Copycat Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese

Before we begin, let’s talk about the goodness… cheese.

What cheese do you use for copycat Chick-fil-A mac and cheese?

According to the company website, Chick-fil-A mac and cheese uses Parmesan, Cheddar, and Romano cheese. that is the type of cheese we including in our copycat recipe. However, you could also use different kinds of cheese including American cheese, Colby-jack cheese or even a strong gouda cheese for a unique flavor!

Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese Ingredients

While we can’t perfect anything on the Chick-fil-A menu, we sure do hard work trying. This is the closest we got to perfecting the Copycat Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese recipe in our home.

  • 16 ounce box large elbow noodles
  • 2 Cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 Cup Parmesan Romano cheese, shredded
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 9 x 13” pan

These simple ingredients will give you the homemade taste you look for in a mac and cheese dish.

copycat chick-fil-a mac and cheese recipe

Home-Style Macaroni and Cheese Directions

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees and grease a 9 x 13” pan with butter.

In a large pot, boil and then drain your noodles. (Prepare to boxed instructions)

Stir your noodles with 3 tablespoons of butter.

Blend your two types of cheeses in a bowl.

Scoop 1/3 of the noodles into the bottom of your pan.

Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese on top of your noodles.

Sprinkle garlic powder, salt and pepper on the cheese.

Repeat steps 4-6 with 3 layers of noodles and cheese.

Poor your milk carefully over the mixture.

Bake for 30 minutes uncovered until you see the cheese melt.

Tips for perfect Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese

To get an extra crispy topping, add extra shredded cheese on the top of your baking dish ingredients. The last two minutes, set your oven to broil on high, careful not to burn.

Can you make this Protein Mac and Cheese?

Did you know? As a mom I am always trying to sneak protein in my kids meals. Using cheese is such a great way to hide added protein. The kids never know. Barilla makes a ProteinPlus Multigrain Pasta perfect for this recipe. Stock up because you might never use another type of noodle again!

See our other Hidden Vegetable Recipes including more Protein Mac and Cheese Recipes.

Save this recipe for later. Print your recipe and add it to your recipe box or recipe binder! This is my favorite Recipe Binder – I get tired of printing the same recipe over and over. A binder keeps me organized and gives me a place to store my recipes.

Calling all Starbucks fans! You’re not going to want to miss out on this Starbucks Chocolate Bomb recipe! Why spend a ton at the store when you can make them at home for a fraction of the cost? With just six simple ingredients needed, you can’t go wrong with this easy and delicious treat.

STARBUCKS CHOCOLATE BOMB

I’m a huge fan of literally anything with the words chocolate and Starbucks. But combined? I’m over-the-moon crazy about this simple treat. So much so that I find myself making this easy hot cocoa bomb recipe all year long.

Because why wouldn’t you want to have a treat that is all your own? I love Starbucks and being able to have a bit of “me” time and make something that I don’t have to share. (don’t judge me – I literally share everything else all the time!)

The other really great thing about this simple hot chocolate bomb is that it’s an awesome gift idea, too. Make these up for a family member, friend, teacher, or coach. Use these fun “Thanks a Latte” gift tags as a way to spruce up the gift and complete the look!

HOW DO YOU USE HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS?

There are a couple of different ways that you can use them. I prefer to put them in the bottom of my mug and cover them with warm milk, but some people use hot water instead. (I think it’s to cut down on the fat content but in my opinion, the milk adds a much-needed and delicious sweetness!)

HOW DO YOU STORE HOT COCOA BOMBS?

They’re actually quite shelf-stable! You can put them in a container with a lid and store them for a few weeks without worry. Although I highly doubt that they’d hang around that long, waiting to be enjoyed.

WHERE TO BUY HOT COCOA BOMBS

While I highly suggest making them homemade, you can also buy them to save time, too. Some of the best places that I recommend buying hot chocolate bombs are:

HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS AMAZON

HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS ALDI

HOT COCOA BOMBS COSTCO

HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS WALMART

HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS TARGET

ETSY HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS

All are going to be different flavors and looks so you’ll have a ton of great choices to choose from.

For even more awesome DIY hot chocolate bombs, don’t miss out on this massive Chocolate Bombs list!

  1. Put the candy melts into a bowl that is microwave-safe and melt according to the directions on the package.

  4. Take them out of the freeze and peel the mold away to get the chocolate out.
  5. Put 1 T of hot chocolate mix and 1 tsp of chai tea into 6 of the molds. Give the tea time to soak in the hot chocolate mix for about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Put in some sprinkle and up to 8 marshmallows.
  7. Put a plate in the microwave and warm until the surface is warm to the touch.
  8. Take one of the empty chocolate bombs and put the open side down gently on the warm plate for up to 10 seconds. You’re wanting to melt the rim just a little bit.
  9. Once melted, take and put it on top of one of the filled halves. This connects the two and creates the circle.
  10. Melt the white candy melts the same way that you did the chocolate ones.
  11. Using a fork, drizzle the melted white melts over the top of the cocoa bombs and add on more sprinkles.
  12. Put them in the freezer for 5 minutes.
