Doesn’t Mother’s Day breakfast in bed sound delightful? Here is a breakfast that a dad and kids can handle without you. These mini pancakes are a great recipe to have your mini chefs help out with.

Ingredients:

  • Your favorite pancake mix (like Bisquick) or recipe
  • Syrup or vanilla
  • Powdered sugar
  • Assorted berries
  • Skewers cut in half

Preparation:

Whip up some pancake batter and use a measuring spoon or cantaloupe scooper to make your mini pancakes on a griddle. If you are having little ones help serve, you might put a few drops of vanilla in the batter to sweeten up the pancakes. If not, feel free to drizzle syrup galore. Have your kids help you stack a few mini slap jacks on a skewer. Shake some powered sugar over the batch. Then top each stack with yummy seasonal berries. Serve them up on a plate with fruit and a nice cup of coffee or tea.

There you have it. A simple breakfast for dads and kids to prepare for the Queen of the House! Happy Mother’s Day!

This Pumpkin Spice Coffee Frappuccino Recipe provides a sweet and delicious autumn treat. If Fall is not quite the weather you expect, especially for us here in Florida, but you still want an Fall taste, this treat will keep you cool but still satisfy your pallet.

There is no need to spend $5 or more on a yummy coffee drink when you can make it at home yourself for a fraction of the cost! Don’t get me wrong I completely understand the call of the enchanting green siren, and do on occasion give in. But going in with the kids also means 2 cake pops and 2 organic milks, and don’t forget your drink! It becomes hard to make it out of the store for less than $15! When not indulging your self and saving the cash in your wallet, It’s nice to have an alternative recipe for home.

Frugal Tip: Anytime you have leftover coffee (ya me neither, but just in case you do) freeze it in ice cube trays to use for yummy iced coffee drinks.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup coffee, frozen ( coffee ice cubes)
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 3 Tbsp. canned pumpkin
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar

Directions:

Blend all ingredients in a blender until completely smooth, pour into glass. Top with whipped cream, a dash of pumpkin pie spice, and if you really want to be decadent, drizzle some caramel and sprinkle with candy sugar.

Love the Love Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Flavor for your Coffee? Then you will love this Cinnamon Dolce Syrup recipe fantastic over pancakes, ice cream, brownies and more. When I discovered I could make this at home, you know in my pajamas, I was ecstatic. Even better? The taste is amazing. The sweet flavor begs to be added to your hot or iced coffee drinks. Most ingredients are probably already in your pantry. Stock up on cinnamon sticks and make a triple batch or even an entire case of jars . It’s a thrifty treat too, large bottles of this syrup sell for around $20, this recipe is about $2.00 to make so that is an INSTANT 90% savings.

Cinnamon Dolce Syrup Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan place water, sugars, cinnamon, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a low boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stir in vanilla.
  2. Remove from heat, and remove cinnamon stick. If desired strain through a cheesecloth or coffee filter to remove excess cinnamon powder.
  3. Allow to cool for 10 minutes and pour into container of choice.

Tuck a jar or dispenser bottle of this yummy homemade delight alongside some coffee, a pretty coffee mug, a seasonal inexpensive candle, and small package of chocolate covered espresso beans for a thoughtful and crafty gift. For storage, I love using mason jars. Tie it off with raffia and include a cinnamon stick and handmade label to finish it off. Perfect for gift exchanges, secret santa, or any coffee lover in your life.

Easter Centerpiece and Chicken & Orzo Recipe

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

March 5, 2014 by Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living Filed Under: Crafts, Education, Pinterest, Recipe

published date: March 26, 2012

Who wants to be in the kitchen when you could be outside enjoying the extra sunlight and spring temperatures in your neck of the woods? We’ve put together a simple one dish wonder for your family to enjoy on a weeknight or on a lazy Sunday. Since Easter is approaching, of course we had to include carrots in our recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces dried orzo
  • 2 cups fresh green beans
  • 1 whole roasted deli chicken
  • 1 8 ounce container of semisoft cheese with garlic and herbs (we used the light version)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 sliced carrots
  • 1/8 tsp of salt
  • 1/8 tsp of ground pepper
  • 2 tablespoons snipped fresh Italian (flat-leaf) parsley or fresh Sage

Cooking Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9x2-inch baking dish or 3-quart oval casserole; set aside. Cook orzo according to package directions, adding green beans during last 5 minutes of cooking; drain. Meanwhile, cut chicken in 6 pieces; set aside. In large bowl whisk together cheese and milk until combined. Add hot orzo mixture, salt and pepper; stir until coated. Stir in carrots. Spoon into prepared baking dish. Top with chicken pieces. Bake, covered, 30 to 40 minutes or until heated through. Let stand 5 minutes. Sprinkle with parsley or Sage. Six servings.

Add some chick-a-dee fun to your tabletop with this kid friendly Easter centerpiece. All that you need to complete the look is a large vase and a smaller vase to fit inside the larger one. Have your children help you count out Easter candy of your choosing (we used Peeps and Starburst jellybeans). Pour the jellybeans at the base of the larger vase, layer Peeps in rows until you’ve reached the top of the larger vase. Slide your smaller vase inside, being mindful not to damage your Peeps! Fill the smaller vase with water and your favorite springtime flower.

There you have it, a meal and a centerpiece that will have everyone hopping to the table!
