Easy No Sew Fleece Tie Blanket – Instructions plus a step-by-step YouTube Video tutorial. Turn this cute project into a homemade Christmas Gift using our Fleece Navidad gift tag and a discounted Photo Fleece Blanket. Enjoy!

https://www.frugalcouponliving.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Fleece-Blanket-Video-Pin-Frugal-Coupon-Living.mp4

I really think I have creative ideas but I don’t consider myself artistic… First, I lack time. Second, I lack follow-through. Third, I just have a large family. Other things come before crafting!

One item I can say that was VERY easy and CHEAP to make was a No Sew Fleece Tie Blanket.

This craft was also enjoyable for the kids. it was a unique way to give a handmade gift to grandparents – some of the grandparents who have everything! They didn’t have this. And the kids grow, so with my Photo Fleece Blanket, the photo can be adjusted to the current year. Grandma might end up with 18 years of blankets.

No Sew Fleece Blanket Instructions

The steps for making this blanket are simple. It was one of the easiest crafts I ever did. Plus, I don’t sew, so no machine was required!

No Sew Fleece Blanket Supplies

  • 1 square Fleece Blanket (60″ x 60″ is what I used)
  • 1 Additional Square Fleece Blanket (cut to the same size)
  • Scissors

Optional Supplies

  • Square 4″ x 4″ template or index card
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Measuring Tape

I like making the fleece blankets coordinating but not the same. I got a solid pink and a cupcake pattern. You can mix up prints too.

No Sew Fleece Blanket Directions

This is the best way to tie no sew fleece blanket together.

First, lay down your first square fleece

Second, lay your second square fleece lined up on top. Make sure all edges line up. Trim where needed.

Cut a 4 inch by 4 inch square on each corner. Use your template if needed.

Next, cut strips about every two finger lengths (an inch and a half – give or take) along the edges. Cut about 4 inches in length.

Once strips are cut along all 4 sides of the blanket, choose a corner. Tie the right bottom of one side with the left top strip of the other side of the blanket. Begin tying all strips in a double knot.

Repeat along all four edges/side until your no-sew fleece blanket is complete!

Ta-da! You are done with your easy No Sew Fleece Blanket. Makes a great gift!

No Sew Fleece Blanket Instructions Video

If you are a visual, learning we get it! This Tie Fleece Blanket Instructions YouTube video is available to help you. Watch the video below for a complete 2 minute tutorial.

Photo Fleece Blankets

This can also be done with photo blankets. We found a Photo Fleece Blanket Sale on Shutterfly, and followed the exact same steps when creating a blanket for my mom!

THIS is your Christmas Gift!.. and Mother’s Day… and Father’s Day… and so on!

A few things to keep in mind. Shutterfly blankets come in three sizes. 30 x 40, 40 x 60, and 60 x 80. So whichever blanket you order form Shutterfly, make sure your backing blanket is cut the same size. If you have a craft store do this, then you can ask them to cut it to size. Otherwise purchase it larger and when your Photo Fleece Blanket arrives in the mail, you cut down your backing blanket to size.

If you want to be detailed about your backing fabric, head to Fabric.com. There are some of the cutest Discounted Fleece Fabric Patterns on the website. Either find one that coordinates with your photo fleece blanket or mix it up and personalize something to your gift recipient (i.e. unicorns, gardening, astronomy, etc.)

Converted Old Crib into New Desk #DIY #Craft #Pinterest #Tutorial

Do It Yourself Child’s Desk from Old Crib

(Scroll over image to Pin to Pinterest)

Crib Desk

Well I did it! I converted my daughter’s crib into a desk! I had a Pinterest “you must be drunk” moment when I saw an example online and I found this project to be incredibly easy. I did it without help and no sewing! It was a great way to recycle an old crib and reuse my little girl’s oversized furniture.

How to Turn a Crib into a Desk:

  • I took off the front part of her bed (her bed can easily convert into a day bed or a full bed.)
  • I placed the crib in the highest position. This gave elevation for a desk and room for my child’s legs.
  • I measured the width and length of where the mattress pad normally lays. I had a board cut to size. Note: Home Depot cut it up for FREE. This was about $20 with plenty of extra scrap board for other craft projects (the wheels are already turning.)
  • I primed and then painted the board which chalkboard paint. This was about $20.
  • I used my daughter’s old bed skirt to hide the area below the crib. Underneath the desk, I have plenty of hidden storage! This is probably my favorite feature.
  • For less than $40 at Home Goods, I was able to get baskets and display suitcases to place paper, crayons, markers, and other desk activity items. This was $40 and included the price of a lamp on clearance for $20.
  • I hot glued ribbon that I had already around the edge of the cut board. This gave the trim extra detail and prevented the “rough” sides from rubbing against my kids when they played.
  • I used two chairs I had in the house to complete the seats for the desk.
Total: My total out of pocket to repurpose the crib was about $80.

Save More: I could have saved at Home Goods by using items I had around the house or hitting the Dollar Store for possible storage solutions. I also purchased a board that was more expensive. There were cheaper options at Home Depot.

Love this idea, pin it to Pinterest! Scroll over the image to upload.

It is a great idea for a future craft!

Teacher appreciation gift ideas with free printables. Ideas for each season of the school year.

Easy and Creative Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas

Prior to blogging, I was a teacher and I absolutely loved it. Teaching brought about some of my most memorable years and I would go back in a heart beat if it fit my life and schedule. One of my favorite time of the year was spring for both teacher appreciation and volunteer appreciation week. It wasn’t getting huge gifts but it was the heart felt wishes my students gave that mattered most. By spring we had built meaningful relationships and when they would write me notes of appreciation, they always brought tears to my eyes. Cleaning out a cabinet with my daughters this past week, I came across some of those notes and half a dozen years later, they still warm my heart.

Valentine's Day Mini Cherry Heart Pies

Mini Cherry Heart Pies Directions:

First, preheat oven to 350.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Lay out your Refrigerated Pie Crust.

I like to lit the pie crust get slightly room temp before the next step.

Using a 3 to 4″ heart shaped cookie cutter, you should get 8 to 10 pies from 1 box of crusts.

Cut as many heart shapes as you can. Reroll scraps as needed for more pieces. You want an even number of hearts to make the top of the pie and the bottom of the pie.

After you are done, mix together your egg egg and milk to make an egg wash.

Place half of the hearts on prepared pan(s).

Next, use egg wash to wet the edges of the hearts on the pan.

Place a small amount of the pie filling in the center of each heart.

Make a small x cut in the center of the remaining half of the hearts.

Place an x heart on top of each filled heart and press and crimp edges. A fork would be nice to help crimp your edges (see our Baking Hacks and Tips for more ideas on how to perfect pie edges!)

Finally, brush sealed pie with egg wash and dust with sparkling sugar.

Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until crust is slightly browned.

Allow to cool and enjoy!

Take the challenge! This recipe was featured on Brit+Co – we would say it has two thumbs up!

Hair Bows can be such a mess in our house – especially a home with two young girls. This weekend I took a 16×20 picture frame (no glass or backing) and added some ribbon in 5 straight lines to the window of the frame. I simply hot glued the ribbon to the frame back. I added all my girl’s hair bows. It makes not only for a great organizational tool, but a pretty look on your wall.

If you don’t have a little girl, these bows make precious little gifts and would save some momma a lot of money. So take a look before you pass the concept.
