Elf Certificate of Adoption

Only a few short days until the the turkey is lifted off our dinning room tables and Elf on the Shelf braces our home. Are you ready for the Christmas spirit? Have you done this Christmas Tradition before?

This is our sixth year of Elf on the Shelf. I began this Christmas Family Tradition when my oldest daughter was 4 (but began with the blog when she was 5.) If you have been with us a long time, you know every day in the month of November and December we give new Elf on the Shelf Ideas.

How to Adopt Elf on the Shelf

First, you will need to pick up an official Elf on the Shelf. This will be the job of the parent to agree.

Once you acquire your elf. Decide when Elf will start coming. You could put out an Elf Door to welcome your elf on Thanksgiving evening or on December 1 (an Elf door is not necessary – he/she might just start showing up!) We have a number of ways to Say Hello to Elf – Arrival ideas for the first night!

Explain the elf rules. The number one rule is Elf on the Shelf cannot be touched. If he/she is touched, Elf looses his elf magic. We have a magic Elf on the Shelf gripper printable if Elf falls!

Elf on the She reports back to Santa who has been naughty or nice. Elf will show up in a new spot each day – typically Elf flies to the North Pole in the night and is in a new spot in the morning. During this period of time, your home is under Elf Surveillance.

At Christmas Even night, Elf leaves. We let our kids hug Elf. Since Elf is heading back to the North Pole, he can loose some magic with a human hug since he doesn’t’ have a round-trip journey that night. Look at all of our ways Elf on the Shelf Says Good-Bye on the Last Night.

Elf Adoption Certificate

It’s important to create a name for your Elf on the Shelf. We offer some creative ways to name your family elf as well has a list of Fifty Elf on the Shelf Names.

Once your elf is named, of course you family need an Elf Adoption Certificate. We have the perfect printable for you and it is approved by the the man himself, Santa Claus. It also has the official head workshop Elf stamp of approval too!

Our Elf Certificate of Adoption Reads:

This is to certify that (enter Elf name) has been formally adopted by (enter family name) on this date (enter date).

We think it’s kind of colorful and bright and cute to hang in your home.

Register Elf on the Shelf

After your Certificate of Adoption process with us is complete, you may want to officially Register Elf on the Shelf. Verify your Scout Elf as an official North Pole elf on the official Elf on the Shelf Elf Registry page. This page is from the creators of The Elf on the Shelf.

During the Elf registration process, you will first choose your Elf outfit color. Red is the official Scout Elf on the Shelf color. Next, you will choose what came with your elf. Keepsake boxes come with the official Scout Elf on the Shelf. After your selections, you can enter your Family Name, Scout Elf Name, and Scout Elf Adoption Date.

Upon entering this telling Elf information you will get your own Official Scout Elf Registry documents including a Personalized Adoption Certificate and a Personalized Letter From Santa. This completes the process to register Elf on the Shelf.

Register Elf on the Shelf Pets

Everyone loves their pets and that includes Elf. If you have Elf pets, you can also officially register Elf on the Shelf Pets too. Right now, this adoption process includes the Arctic Fox, St. Bernard, and Reindeer Elf on the Shelf pets.

What is Elf on the Shelf? Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD.

Well my husband spent almost a year living in India. Once, with Campus Crusade for Christ another time with work. The people became a part of his heart and before we got married, I promised him I would take a trip over there. It took our 5th wedding anniversary for me to finally got there but instantly our hearts had another thing in common, our love for India and it’s people.

What should I eat for dinner tonight Indian?

If you want to take your taste buds on a trip across the world, enjoy some of the most popular Indian recipes. I’ve gathered some of our family’s favorite easy Indian dinner recipes so you too can enjoy flavorful Indian spices of cumin, clove, cinnamon, turmeric, coriander, and cayenne. Use these fun recipes for your family or at your next dinner party.

Indian Spices Tip: a few things you should know about Indian spices 1.) Indian dishes use a lot of spices, so buy in bulk or large quantities. 2.) Quality Indian spices on line are not cheap. Look around, but don’t be intimated by the sticker price. Trust me, the flavor is worth it! I personally like the Rani Brand Spices.

One important fact about India is there is a northern and southern region and Indian cuisine can vary by locations. The difference between southern and northern Indian food? North Indian food get’s it’s influence from countries it borders and includes thick curries, kebobs including chicken and lamb as common meats. Southern Indian food is vegetarian-focused with lentils, beans, vegetables, and rice. Southern Indian recipes have coastal influences like fish and shrimp as well as touches of coconut milk thinning out curries.

Where is a good place to set up a lemonade stand?

It’s all about visibility! Anywhere where there is good foot traffic or cars that are driving by is a great place to set up the stand. Just be sure that you’re in an area where it’s safe for the kids and that they’re away from the side of the road and traffic.

In October we had my son’s second birthday. I was sure it was going to be a Thomas the Train party and so we purchased the most adorable 2 year old train shirt. In addition to my purchase, I did amazing research on making the perfect train party. I tend to do that. Posts that go up on my blog are because we are moving and I need moving hacks or because I am expecting a baby after a big gap in my children and need reminders of newborn tips. I digress…

The Construction Cake

So my son’s two year old birthday rolled around and after purchasing our train shirt, I went on a hunt to find the most appropriate cake at our grocery store (I am frugal, I wasn’t headed to a stand alone bakery.) The train cakes were not cute, so we settled on a bulldozer cake and thus our party went from a cute little train theme to a Constriction Party with a precious little boy in a train shirt!… I am proud to say, I didn’t care!

Now that the party is behind us, I decided to go ahead and get that Construction Themed Birthday Party on the blog because getting things done late work when you are mother of five!

With the invention of Pinterest, a collection of wedding ideas awaits but so does the cha-ching when you add all these wedding inspirational photos to your Pinterest idea boards. I am here to tell you, it’s possible to have an amazing wedding and lots of fun while saving a penny or two on the entertainment when you add party games.

What are some Unique Wedding Reception Ideas?

If you want your big day to be memorable, it’s important to make it unique. Come up with your own trends and add special touches and unheard of ideas to your wedding celebration. This makes your wedding stand out so that the couple and guests are talking for years to come .

A few unique wedding ideas for the reception include…

Repurpose Vintage Décor. Visit Goodwill, thrift stores and your grandmother’s attic. Use old finds to repurposed wedding decorations.
Decorate with Fruit. The cost of flowers can add up quickly. Decorate with fruit. Not only do you have an edible table runner, citric fruit looks beautiful in a bowl or can be used in the center of a plate as a place card holder.
Wine Tasting. Turn the event into wine tasting party. You control the amount of alcohol served saving on the bar tab.
Hire a Band for One Hour. To get the entertainment and festivities started, hire a mariachi band or carnival dancers. This gets everyone up and moving. Once your wedding party is glued to the dance floor these individuals can slip out while you keep the music playing on a pre-set wedding playlist.
Video Game Station. It’s its fitting to the bride or groom, set up a video game station. this can be fun for younger guests or adults who are still kids at heart.
Wedding Piñata. Who doesn’t love candy? Have a wedding Piñata for the guests and wedding party. You also can have a candy bar for everyone to enjoy more sweet treats.
DIY Ribbon Wands. Tie ribbons to wooden dowels. They bring wedding décor to the dance floor when the guests sway them in the air. They also are a fun exit for the bride and groom.
Hire an Artists. Art work can be expensive plus sometimes the art isn’t even personal. Get a painted portrait of your big day when you hire a local artists. It’s two birds with one stone as you are left with a beautiful canvas to display in your home after the big event.
Play Wedding Games for Entrainment. Entertainment like DJs, bands, an emcee can be quite costly. Have a member of the wedding party lead the entire group in wedding reception games. This an be played at any location and with any size guests list but it is especially perfect for a backyard wedding or small wedding.

Of course, we think the best ideas is adding games to your wedding reception. Games are great way to get people talking, laughing and getting to know one another!

When planning the entertainment for your reception, wedding games are a must when it comes to budget wedding ideas. They are very affordable, are excellent ice breakers for meeting new people, and they provide activities for the venue.

These wedding games are not for everyone but they make a perfect activities addition to a backyard wedding or intimate wedding. Take a look at some of our favorite wedding games. These games can be played on the wedding day, at a rehearsal dinner or even during a bridal shower.

Donuts on a String

Who said this is a kids party game. While this would be a great wedding game for the kids, adults will love it too! Forget the donut wall for a wedding, have donuts on a string. Guests have to work for this tasty snack. It provides oodles of fun and a sweet treat as a reward.

Wedding Story Mad Libs

In this wedding Mad Libs version, you need someone who knows the bride and groom well. It might actually be the bride and groom themselves. Have the bride and groom write a narrative. This can be a story about meeting, their favorite vacation, getting engaged or another memorable event. Remo common adjectives, nouns, verbs and even adverbs. Have guests replace these missing words with their own words. These stories can be collected for the couple later or one person can share this wedding table game aloud to the guests. Plenty of laughter ahead.

The Shoe Game

When you are removing the garter or tossing the bouquet is an excellent time to introduce the shoe game. The bride and groom sit back to back. Each holding one of their own and one of their spouse’s shoe. A leader asks a series of questions like “who is the spider killer” or “who is most likely to run late?” Instead of answering the question aloud, the couple raises the shoe of the corresponding question. See how well the bride and groom know each other!

Prosecco Pong

Just like beer pong, only classier. In this fun tabletop game, line up plastic glasses in a triangle. Allow players to toss ping-pong balls into prosecco filled glasses. There is no loosing in this adult drinking game as everyone gets tasty sips while playing.

Wedding Dare Cards

I bet you have never played truth or dare at a wedding. Well this wedding table game is just a series of dares. Each table is given a dare on their name place card. For every guests that completes their dare, the table scores points. The table with the most points at the end of the evening, wins.

Stand Up, Sit Down Wedding Game

This is a great ice breaker game for many events. In this trivia game, guests will stand up and down based on questions either about the bride and groom or about the wedding guests. For example, stand up if you are wearing blue, stand up if you think you have known the bride and groom the longest, etc.

Building Block Centerpiece Creations

If you love an interactive activity that is hands-on, this activity is for you. Instead of spending on costly centerpieces, add LEGO blocks to the table. Guests will create their own wedding centerpieces and tablescape using building blocks. Best centerpiece wins dips at the buffet line or an extra slice of cake.

Wedding Photo Scavenger Hunt

Save on the cost of the wedding photography when you bring forth a wedding photo treasure hunt. Each table will get a disposable camera and a checklist of wedding photos to take. This an include the bride and groom sharing kisses, the best dance moves on the dance floor, a funny face, cutting the wedding cake and more. You can even get a photo of all your guests by asking each table in the wedding hunt to take a group selfie in the photo booth or with the hand held camera reversed. It gives you a variety of photos for your wedding photo album as seen through the wedding guests eyes and not the wedding photographer.

Have paper fortune tellers at the table. Guests can spend time crafting fun date ight ideas…..

If you love a good minute to win it game, this wedding idea is for you! Using those pastel soft mints and straws, move mints from one bowl to another. The trick is you cannot use your hands. Only your mouth and the straw. See who can complete this task the fastest to be declared the winner.

If you don’t have an Emcee master of ceremonies, DG or a wedding party member that is willing to lead these games, you can also consider getting some common wedding games online. These games will be self lead. While these wedding game ideas are not as budget-friendly as our printable wedding games, but they are fun nonetheless.
