Valentine Envelope Snacks

Valentine's Day Cookie Envelopes

What do you do with the kids to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Every day in the month of February (until the 14th), we put a heart on the kids door sharing why they are special/loved. This has been done for as long as I can remember, we still have last years hearts on the door! It used to be something only my husband and I did, but as the kids multiplied (we would be doing 5 hearts a night for 14 days), I started including the children in the tradition so they could encourage and love one another. So we assign them a night they write a sweet note to each other. It gives us a few days off! I love watching, as well, how much they enjoy encouraging each other!

Ooey, Gooey, cheesy goodness – this Sausage and Ricotta Pizza Stuffed Cheese Bread really hits the spot. An easy homemade pizza recipe the entire family will enjoy.

Sausage and Ricotta Pizza Stuffed Cheese Bread

Sausage and Ricotta Pizza Stuffed Cheese Bread

So late last year (2017), I gave birth to twins. Everything was as smooth sailing as smooth sailing goes (with twins that are your 4th and 5th children) until the reflux it. Let me tell you. I had 5 kids, two who suffered mild colic but this colic was the worst. Constant screaming. Weeks of it. It was in my research and talking to others, I discovered my son had a dairy allergy. With that came a 6 month strike of dairy – it was awful. No cheese, no milk, no butter – you try and find meals that have no dairy in them. Anyways, upon the graduation of breast feeding (I was really pumping), came all the cheese I could eat. All the GOOD cheese I could eat. That included this heavenly dinner recipe – Sausage and Ricotta Pizza Stuffed Cheese Bread.

As a woman CRAVING cheese, this stuffed pizza recipe hit the spot. I mean really hit the spot. This dinner recipe is so delicious. You, and your family, will love it! I promise.

Ooey, gooey, cheesy goodness – enjoy!

Be the Good Kid Quote. We turned one of our favorite quotes into a Canvas for under $20.  Inspirational quote for girls and boys turned into DIY bedroom artwork – no canvas or paint required!

Be the Good Kid Quote

I have so much I want to teach my girls. I think of the most random “lessons” I want to share with them, but something makes it not the right timing. I quickly retain those ideas in my head and often they get buried beneath mundane day to day information.  Recently, I have found the best way to inspire my girls is through quotes that lead to their own self reflection. I have them read a quote, think about it and then we discuss it. This gives them ownership in their own beliefs without me instilling my own ideology in their head.

Be the Good Kid Quote:

So this craft project actually took no supplies. I am not joking. Using my computer mouse and keyboard, I created this DIY canvas online… you guys it was ridiculously easy!

First, I ordered this Be the Good Kid Quote online on Etsy. This was an instant download so as soon as I made my purchase for under $5. I paid $4.99 to be exact. This is the only “supply” you need for your kid’s quote project.

Tip: If you cannot see your download after you purchase, go to purchases and reviews under your account. From there, find your purchase and click Download Files.

Directions for Your DIY Canvas:

Once you have downloaded your Be the Good Kid Quote you will want to purchase a discounted canvas voucher online. One of my favorite places to purchase canvas prints is on Canvas on Demand, Canvas Champ and Canvas People. I normally take a look at Groupon to find a discounted canvas voucher first.  I found this Canvas on Demand Groupon Voucher, one 16×20 Canvas Print for $15. I doubt this price/voucher will last – so get it while you can!

Tip: This PDF printable from Etsy is 8 x 10 inches, so you want to order a canvas size that will fit. Order an 8×10 canvas, 16×20 canvas, or anything with a ratio of 4:5.

Canvas Print Deals
After I purchased the voucher, I went to my Groupon account and under my account chose My Groupons. There you can get your unique promo offer for your free canvas (you have already purchased it.) Follow the directions on your voucher. On the canvas merchant page, you will upload your Etsy download (instead of a photo.)  Your canvas will arrive and look like you hand lettered it yourself!

What a creative way to place some inspiration in your child’s room. Remind them to be the good kid. Remind them to be the kind kid!

Homemade Disney World Mickey Mouse pretzels. This copycat recipe is just like the salty dough snack you have at your favorite theme park.

Mickey Mouse Pretzels

Copycat Disney World Mickey Mouse Pretzels

Since we left Florida in 2015, I realize how much I took advantage of Disney World. It was a set of theme parks I went to almost every summer when growing up. I never had huge earning to go, but when we did go it was a huge treat. I never understood how family or friends (from other states) found it such a big family vacation to go. After all, we could just hop in the car and be at the Disney gates in a mater of hours. Now that I live in DC, I realize I took this park for granted. I am a mom of five and I dream of the day I can take my entire family to the Magic Kingdom. I want them to experience Space Mountain, to get wet white going down a surprise drop in splash mountain, and to experience all the treats I had while growing up – like Mickey Mouse Pretzels.

Are you a fan of Mickey Mouse Pretzels? These beloved theme park snacks were found originally at California’s Disneyland but have not made it to parks in Florida including the Magic Kingdom,  Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, and Disney’s water parks including Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. If you don’t have one of these theme parks in your backyard, we are happy to share our easy, three-ingredient, Mickey Mouse Pretzels. These are perfect if you are hosting a Disney party, make sure to pair with this dessert Chocolate Covered Mickey OREOs.

This recipe makes four Mickey Pretzels.

Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces of premade pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • Sea salt (I strongly prefer this brand)

These directions are pretty simple. After you have your three ingredients,  premade pizza dough,  melted butter, and sea salt, your step by step directions are pretty simple. Add as much or as little salt as you want. You can also add butter, cheese dip or ranch dressing for dipping. Enjoy!

Go With Me Chair Black Friday Savings – Double Dipping Savings!

Go With Me Chair Black Friday Savings

This might be one of my favorite Black Friday week deals to share with you – the Baby Delight Go with Me Chair. I have an Amazon sale, a clipable coupon AND an exclusive coupon code for Frugal Coupon Living… more on that soon!

First, I have to tell you about my new favorite chair, the Baby Delight Go with Me Chair! The chair is comfortable for my boys. the chair has support as well as cushion. This chair is strong and it is evident the stitching is very well made. I love the bright colors. It doesn’t look like a fabric that fades easy and the chair comes in 7 awesome colors – orange, lime green, true red, pink, grey, blue and teal. The polyester fabric cleans up very easily – which is great for our current puree pouch baby food stage!

I love the 5-point removable harness. It gives me options for the different ages of all five kids. The younger boys are very stable and secure when they are buckled. As they grow, the straps can be adjusted to the size of the child or even removed all together.

We have used these chairs in the home by our breakfast table as moving the high chairs around the house is a big difficult (and annoying!) Not only can the be used in the home, they travel well for trips or for outdoor occasions.

One of my favorite features is that this chair goes from 3 months to 75 pounds. I don’t have to worry when my 68 pound girls sit down on the boys’ chairs. I know it will hold them and still be in great shape  for the younger boys when I need them to be held too!

Notice the different positions – in the photo above, we put our guys in all three stages.  Use with or without the tray.

Stage One

Sit and relax. Stage one allows your child to sit securely with a 5 point harness. This begins at three months even if your child is not sitting on their own yet. There are straps to secure their back to the back of the chair.

Stage Two

Stand and Play. As baby grows the seat can unvelcro to reveal two leg holes perfect for letting baby stand with support.  This is great for kids that are more active, using their feet, and ant activity. We are currently using this position and the sit and relax position for our 11 month old boys.

Stage Three

Sit and Play. We are using this for our two year old boy who is about 30 pounds. As he ages we can remove the 5 point harness. The girls sometimes take a quick seat when they chair becomes open (it isn’t often.) This stage can be used with our without the tray.

Product Highlights

  • Seats from baby (approx. 3 mos.) to 75 lb. child
  • Chair converts to three child growth stages: Sitting, Standing, and Big Kid
  • 5 point removeable harness keeps baby secure and comfortable
  • Includes a emoveable snack tray and a removeable sun canopy
  • Indoor/outdoor polyester fabric is resistant to fading, stains, and mold
  • Carry bag included
  • Dimensions: 24.5″ tall x 23″ wide x 22.75″ deep
  • Weight: 4.9 lbs

Indoor Outdoor Use

My most favorite think about this chair is the ease of use and the possibilities. It can be used as a soccer game (where it gets the most use for us), in the dinning room for dinner time, in front of the television for quick afternoon snacks, at the beach or on an adventure to grandmas and grandpas for the weekend.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

My two year old is used to seeing us get the foldable chairs at our weekend soccer games and he often uses his hands to pull me to grass while he sits in my chair. (This totally defeats the purpose of me bringing a chair to the game!) Having his own chair has been a life saver. The twins are also outgrowing their patience in the stroller when they are not “strolling.” This provides an outdoor option that keeps them contained without me having to hold them.

The sun canopy is great for days where extra shade is needed. There also is a very nice carry all bag so we can carry all three chairs without issue. Each chair weights 4.9 lbs, so carrying three is no issue at all!

DIY Flower String Lights Tutorial

DIY Flower String Lights

We have a fun craft for you. Best of all, you likely have all of these supplies in your home – Christmas Lights and an Egg Carton. Open up your Christmas box and grab a strand of Christmas lights. We used white lights, but colorful lights will be cute too. We used a green light strand, but a white strand will work as well. For your egg carton, you will want to use a cardboard cotton as plastic or Styrofoam carton will not paint well.  We chose to paint with one paint color but consider getting creative with your strand. You can add many colors to make a rainbow or use a darker color on the outside and a lighter color on the inside. Whatever your technique, this craft is easy, affordable and adorable – three adjectives I love to hear!

These lights can be placed teen bedroom, an outdoor enclosed patio, or even used in a college dorm room for accent lighting. However you use, be sure to share your ideas but adding your image to  our Pinterest Pin under “tried this!” We love to see your creativity too!

Feeling crafty? Don’t forget our Upcycled Christmas Lights.

Upcycled Egg Carton Craft

Supplies:

  • An empty cardboard egg carton (from a dozen eggs)
  • Scissors
  • X-ACTO knife
  • Pink craft paint
  • Small bowl
  • Water
  • Paint brush
  • Wooden skewer
  • Strand of lights
  • Glue gun or E600 glue

Instructions:

To begin, get your cardboard egg carton and cut down the center of the egg carton.

You will then want to cut each individual section/cup from the carton.

To form a petal, cut 4 upside down triangle shapes evenly spaced around each “cup”. Cut the sections that are sticking up into round petal shapes to form your flower.

Once your flowers are formed, add paint and water to the small bowl. We used a 50/50 ratio of paint to water. We used one color but this is where you can get creative with your own technique.

Paint each flower inside and out. Consider doing a darker color on the outside and lighter on the inside for more of an ombre look. Let each petal dry completely before moving on to your next step.

After your petals are dry, use an X-ACTO knife or a skewer to make a small hole in the center of each flower. (This step should be performed by an adult.)

Lastly, press the flowers onto the lights using the glue gun to secure each flower. For a stronger hold, you can use E600 craft glue.

Hang and Enjoy!

TIP: You can repeat this process to make as many flowers as you want to make a longer strand of lights.
