The Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a Scout Elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of Scout Elf’s visits. The little red guy visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The North Pole Visitor has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror, or hanging from the lights. It is a very important rule, that Scout Elf is not touched each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family can name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve.

If you’re looking for a delightfully humorous twist to add to your elf’s escapades, look no further than the “Melted Snowman” The Elf on the Shelf idea. This creative and easy setup will have your kids laughing and wondering just what kind of winter magic their mischievous Scout Elf is up to.

Materials Needed:

• The Elf on the Shelf Doll
• Cardstock or paper (this is the best cardstock which is perfect for your Elf printables)
• Scissors
• Marker
• Glass tray or shallow dish
• Water
• Two googly eyes
• Three black buttons
• A small carrot

Setting the Scene:

1. Prepare the Glass Tray: Begin by placing the glass tray or shallow dish in a noticeable spot. This could be the kitchen counter, dining table, or any area where your kids are sure to spot it.
2. Add Water: Fill the glass tray with a small amount of water. Just enough to cover the bottom and create the illusion of a melted snowman.
3. Assemble the Features: Carefully arrange the two googly eyes, three black buttons, and the small carrot on the tray. Imagine the hilarity as The Elf on the Shelf attempts to reassemble a snowman who couldn’t withstand the warmth of the indoors.

If you want an Elf on the Shelf, it is important to ask your parents. An Elf can only be welcomed to the family when a mom, dad or guardian agree. There are many places for where to find an Elf on the Shelf.

Why do we not have an Elf on the Shelf?

In some cases a family is assigned an Elf on the Shelf if Santa has observed naughty behavior during the year. Do all Elves look the same?

No, just like people a family Elf can come in different shape, sizes, and colors. Your Elf might look different from your friend’s elf. That is okay. Embrace differences.

If you are wondering if you have the real Elf on the Shelf, as long as your Elf brings Christmas magic to your home, it is real to your family. The official Scout Elf Doll only comes in a box set with the Elf on the Shelf book. You cannot buy the Elf doll alone in the store or online.

When does Elf arrive?

Elf arrives on Thanksgiving or shortly after. There is a long line of Elves waiting to get magic to leave the North Pole. Once your Elf is released from customs he will visit your family as soon as possible.

When does an Elf leave?

The Elf on the Shelf leaves on Christmas Eve for their home, Santa’s North Pole Work shop. They catch a ride in Santa’s sleigh. Don’t worry an Elf on the Shelf will say good-bye on their last night.

In the case of emergency, parents can touch Elves. Parents touch do not have as much magic pull as children’s so hopefully magic is not lost. In the case of a real emergency, Elf might not be able to move for a new days.

What happens if Elf falls?

If Elf fall, Elf on the Shelf must not be touched. Use North Pole Magic Grippers to save Elf from the pet dog or getting stepped on.

When does the Elf move?

Elves move at night when boys and girls are sleeping. In cases where an Elf might have fallen asleep before the family, an Elf might have to move during the day. There is a special Elf letter for older kids about moving during the day.

Why didn’t My Elf move?

There are a lot of reasons why Elf on the Shelf didn’t move. These are the most frequent reasons. 1.) Elf was touched and lost his/her magic to return to the North Pole 2.) What is Elf on the Shelf?
