The holiday season is upon us, and that means it’s time to get creative with your Elf on the Shelf antics! If you’re looking for a side-splitting, family-friendly prank to pull off this year, we’ve got just the idea for you. In this blog post, we’ll show you how to stage a rib-tickling Elf on the Shelf scenario where your mischievous Elf finds itself in a comical bathroom adventure: falling into the toilet with a giant pair of jaws waiting to ‘chomp’ away! And the best part? We’ve got a free printable of those menacing jaws that you can easily use to set up this hilarious scene.

Menacing Jaws Elf on the Shelf Shark Idea

In this Elf Bathroom idea, Scout Elf is about to fall into the toilet. Let’s set up the scene.

Materials Needed:

The materials are simple, you can put together this easy elf idea quickly.

  • The Elf on the Shelf Doll(s)
  • A bathroom with low traffic (to avoid any unintentional interactions)
  • Cardstock or printer paper (this is the best cardstock which is perfect for your Elf printables)
  • A printed copy of the free giant Jaws template (provided in the Free Elf on the Shelf Printables section)
  • Tape or adhesive putty
  • Scissors
  • Printer (Low-cost pick)
  • A sense of humor

Instructions:

  1. Print the Jaws Template: Start by downloading and printing our free Giant Jaws template. This will be 8.5″ x 11″ PDF. You can use scissors to cut down to fit your toilet bowl for maximum comedic effect. If the image is too small, add dark blue construction paper along the border to give the look of darker water.
  2. Prepare the Bathroom: For this Elf bathroom idea, choose a bathroom with low traffic for your Elf’s escapade. You don’t want anyone accidentally ruining the surprise! Ensure the bathroom is clean and tidy so you don’t get your Elf dirty.
  3. Set the Stage: Open the toilet seat and carefully place your Elf on the Shelf doll on the rim. Position it in a way that makes it appear as though it’s teetering on the edge, about to take a fall into the jaws of the toilet. Use tape to hang your elf there. You can also use clear elastics to connect your elf to another elf if you are doing this elf idea with two elves.
  4. Attach the Jaws: Now, take your printed jaws template and cut it out if needed). Use tape or adhesive putty to secure the jaws inside the toilet bowl, just below the toilet seat rim and above the waterline. Make sure they’re wide open, ready to ‘snap’ shut.
  5. Add Some Drama: To add a touch of drama to the scene, you can add some ketchup or stuffing as if another elf has gotten eaten.
  6. Leave a Note: To ensure everyone knows that the toilet is off-limits for the day, leave a humorous note from your Elf explaining the situation. You can have your Elf express its surprise at the ‘big catch’ it narrowly avoided and apologize for the inconvenience. You can also add caution tape to the door or around the commode.
  7. Watch and Enjoy: Now, all that’s left to do is wait for the reactions! Your family will undoubtedly get a good laugh out of this unexpected bathroom encounter.

Elf on the Shelf is all about creating unforgettable moments and making cherished memories during the holiday season. This year, take your Elf’s antics to a whole new level with this hilarious bathroom adventure featuring a daring plunge into the jaws of the toilet.

Supplies

  • The Elf on the Shelf Doll
  • Cardstock or paper (this is the best cardstock which is perfect for your Elf printables)
  • Scissors
  •  Tape
  • Printer (Low-cost pick)
  • Honk If You Love Elves Printable Sign
  • A car (preferably your own – wink!)

It’s pretty easy to pull off this prank. The hardest part will be your children trying to find Elf on the Shelf’s hiding spot.

Setting the Prank:

To execute this funny Elf on the Shelf idea, start by buckling your Elf into the car. Find an extra seat the the car. This elf is ready to roll. If you lack extra seats, secure him to the rearview mirror or the front dashboard. To add an extra touch of magic, consider decorating the car with Christmas car props like a car reindeer, festive garland, a lot of balloons, and if you are quite brave – glitter! (We won’t blame you if you skip the messy glitter.)

Download our specially designed “Honk if You Love Elves” signs and print them out. These signs are adorned with a festive heart and bold letters that are bound to catch the attention of anyone nearby.  Once printed, it’s time to place the signs on the car windows,

Hang your Honk If You Love Elves signs in on the windows ensuring they’re visible from all angles.. These printable Elf props come in two sizes. Elf-sized and Human Sized. Mix it up and use a lot of Elf signs. In fact, the louder you all with your sign placement the more embarrassing the car ride. Just make sure you don’t have too many signs in blind spots. Also, leave a clear opening by the window where your teen sits. You don’t want to block their face for this car ride.

Now that your Hilarious Elf on the Shelf idea is staged, it’s time to go to bed. Before you do, go to the bathroom mirror and practice your wave. You will be getting a lot of honks tomorrow morning. Make it a regal wave like Princess Diana (know your worth, mama) or it a very aggressive and over-the-top wave causing a little added humiliation to your children’s car ride. This is your time to shine mama – own it! Now go to bed. It’s going to be a busy day with the extra excitement you have to give this occasion.

In the morning, after the rooster crows, your child will likely be really upset they cannot find their elf. Absorb the desperation. Take a deep breath. You are about the save the day. You can guide them with questions like “Did you check outside,” “Go put your backpack in the car,” or “I think I left my sunglasses in the car, please go grab them?” Get creative with your ideas to get your child to the car. Or you can just be at a total loss and them them go for a while without finding their North Pole friend until it’s time for your road trip.

The Adventure Begins:

Picture the scene as your family embarks on their day-to-day activities with Elf in the driver’s seat. Whether it’s the morning school run, a trip to the grocery store, or a commute to work, the “Honk if You Love Elves” signs are sure to create laughter and joy for everyone involved. Creative Entrance Ideas

  1. Zip Line: Have the Elf arrive via a zip line from the ceiling. This is sure to impress the kids and get them excited for the holiday season.
  2. Balloon Ride: It’s a special delivery! Tie a bunch of helium balloons to the Elf and have him float down to his landing spot. The kids will love seeing the Elf floating through the air in his own DIY hot air balloon.
  3. Magic Portal: Create a magic portal using an Elf door. The Elf can pop out of the portal and surprise the kids one morning.

These are just a few ideas to get started with the Elf on the Shelf before you jump into a Christmas countdown. Get creative and have fun with it!

Countdown Calendars

Countdown calendars are a great way to build excitement for the holidays and keep track of how many days are left until Christmas. Here are some fun and easy ideas for DIY countdown calendars that you can make at home:

DIY Calendar Ideas

As the festive season approaches, there’s no better way to count down the days to Christmas than with these charming and interactive DIY calendars. From filling Santa’s beard with fluffy cotton balls to crafting colorful paper chains, we’ve curated a collection of fun and festive ideas that will add a touch of magic to your Scout Elf on the Shelf tradition.

Santa Beard Cotton Balls

For this countdown calendar, all you need is a picture of Santa Claus and some cotton balls. Each day, glue a cotton ball onto Santa’s beard until it’s full and fluffy on Christmas Day. It’s a fun and silly way to count down the days. Each day your Elf can deliver a cotton ball with his elf antic.

Toilet Paper Roll

Save up your empty toilet paper rolls and turn them into a festive countdown calendar. Cut them into equal pieces and decorate each one with wrapping paper, stickers, or paint. Then, stack them up and fill them with treats or small gifts for each day. This creates a cute DIY Advent Calendar. Elf can deliver the toilet paper roll presents daily. As a fun Elf idea, one extra roll of toilet paper and create a toilet paper roll Elf on the Shelf Countdown where there are a few days left until Christmas. (See more Elf on the Shelf Ideas with Toilet Paper.)

Cereal

If you have cereal lying around, you can turn it into a fun countdown calendar. Use cereal (fruit loops are great) and write out the number of days until Santa’s arrival with this cereal countdown idea.

Paper Chain Craft

Elf on the Shelf paper chain countdown

For a classic countdown calendar, make a paper chain out of construction paper. Cut strips of paper and glue them together to create a chain. Write a number on each link and hang it up. Each day, tear off one link until you reach Christmas Day. This can be done from the ceiling fan or another area of your home.

Dry Erase Board

Store-Bought Alternatives

If you don’t have time to make your own countdown calendar, there are plenty of store-bought options available. Look for Advent calendars with pockets, doors, or drawers that you can fill with treats or small gifts. You can also find reusable calendars that you can use year after year. If you are using something that is opened daily, consider adding small treats like these Advent Calendar Fillers.

No matter which type of countdown calendar you choose, it’s sure to add some excitement and anticipation to the holiday season.

Elf Departure

As the holiday season comes to a close, it’s time for the Elf on the Shelf to say goodbye. Here are some fun ideas to make the Elf’s departure just as exciting as its arrival.

Saying Goodbye

  • Elf Thank You Note: Have the Elf leave a note thanking the family for the fun and memories shared during its stay. The note can also include a small gift, such as a candy cane or a mini toy.
  • Elf Photo Album: Create a mini photo album of the Elf’s adventures during its stay. Include pictures of the Elf getting into mischief, hiding in silly places, and having fun with the family.
  • Elf Goodbye Party: Host a mini party for the Elf’s departure. Decorate with balloons and streamers, and serve Elf-themed treats like sugar cookies shaped like the Elf’s hat.

With these fun ideas, saying goodbye to the Elf on the Shelf doesn’t have to be sad. It can be a fun and memorable event that the family will look forward to every year.

The holiday season is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to dust off your creative thinking cap and come up with some fun and festive Elf on the Shelf ideas for your kids. If you’re looking for a unique and entertaining twist on this beloved tradition, we’ve got just the idea for you: Elf on the Shelf feeding dinosaurs! In this enchanting setup, your Elf will be surrounded by plastic dinosaurs enjoying a tasty treat of mini marshmallows.

Before we dive into the details of how to create this magical scene, let’s look at list of dinosaur Elf on the Shelf ideas that will leave your little ones thrilled.

What are some good ideas for Elf on the Shelf and Plastic Dinosaurs?

Combining Elf on the Shelf with plastic dinosaurs is a fun and imaginative way to create memorable holiday moments for your children. Here are some creative ideas to get you started:

  1. Dinosaur Snowball Fight: Set up a scene where your Elf has enlisted the help of some dinosaurs for a snowball fight. Use small cotton balls as snowballs and position the dinosaurs and Elf with cotton balls in their hands as if they’re in the middle of a friendly winter battle.
  2. Dino Explorer Elf: Create a scenario where your Elf has become an adventurous dinosaur explorer. Surround the Elf with dinosaurs and place some miniature explorer props nearby, like a tiny backpack, a map, and a flashlight. You can even set up a “dinosaur dig” by burying small dinosaur toys in a tray of sand for your Elf to discover.
  3. Elf’s Ark: Any idea why the dinosaurs are extinct? They forgot to get on Elf’s Noah’s Ark! Create Elf’s Ark with the dinosaurs left in the background. On the Elf’s boat will be animals two-by-two and the dinos holding a sign that saying, “Oh no, was that today!?” This can be used with other Christian Elf on the Shelf ideas.
  4. Dino Dance Party: Arrange the dinosaurs in a circle, and your Elf can be in the center with a mini boombox or musical instrument. It looks like they’re leading a dinosaur dance party! Add some colorful tissue paper or confetti for a festive touch. You can even invite friends over and host a dinosaur party with fun dinosaur games for kids.
  5. Dino Spa Day: Give the dinosaurs a day of pampering and relaxation at a dinosaur spa. Your Elf can be the spa owner or masseuse, offering massages or beauty treatments to the dinos. Use tiny washcloths, toy beauty supplies, and miniature towels to set the scene. Everyone knows how rough a dinosaur’s skin can get!
  6. Dinosaur Movie Night: Set up a tiny movie theater with a small screen and seats. Your Elf can be the projectionist, and the plastic dinosaurs can be the audience. Place popcorn (small popcorn pieces or white pom-poms) and little 3D glasses on the dinosaurs for a cute touch. Watch something like The Land Before Time.
  7. Reading to Dinosaurs: Have Elf read to a set of plastic dinosaurs. Encouraging reading by leaving a note from the Elf asking your child to read their favorite book.
  8. Dinosaur Dentist: Create a scene where the Elf is playing the role of a dentist for the dinosaurs. Set up a small dental chair, tiny dental tools (which can be craft supplies), and maybe even some dental X-rays (tiny drawings or printouts) to inspect the dinosaurs’ “teeth.” This idea is exceptionally great if you are waiting on the arrival of a Christmas Tooth Fairy.
  9. Dinosaur Bakery: Your Elf can be the head baker at a dinosaur-themed bakery. Arrange the plastic dinosaurs around a tiny kitchen setup with playdough or clay as “dinosaur treats” being prepared. You can even add a little apron on the Elf or use dinosaur cookie cutters.
  10. Dinosaur Eating the Elf: If you have two or more elves, have the Dinosaur eating one of the elves with the other elf trying to get the North Pole friend out of the grip of the dino’s jaws.
  11. Dino Train Adventure: Have your Elf lead a dinosaur parade or adventure with a toy train. You can set up tracks, and the dinosaurs can ride in train cars. Make it more fun by placing a small “North Pole” sign at the destination, signifying a journey to the North Pole. If you are exceptionally into naughty Elf on the Shelf pranks, tie Elf to the train track.
  12. Dino Art Class: Position the dinosaurs around a table with art supplies, and your Elf can be the art teacher. Use tiny canvases, paintbrushes, and colorful paints (non-toxic) for the dinosaurs to “create” masterpieces.
  13. Dinosaur in the Garden: Take Elf and the dinosaur outside and place them in the garden. See how long it takes for your child to find elf. You can leave clues inside.
  14. Dino Tug of War: Set up a scene where the Elf and some dinosaurs are engaged in a friendly game of tug of war with a small ribbon or string. Make it look like a playful and spirited competition between the Elf and the dinos.
  15. Dino-Store: Bring a funny elf note using a dinosaur toy that says “Let’s shop with T-Rex as the Dino-Store!”

Remember, the key is to let your imagination run wild and have fun with these Elf on the Shelf and plastic dinosaur ideas. The goal is to create magical and memorable moments that your children will cherish during the holiday season.

Let’s look at one last idea we can set up together.

Elf on the Shelf Dinosaur Feeding Idea

elf on the shelf dinosaur feeding mini marshmallows

On to the sweet 16 of dinosaur Elf on the Shelf Ideas – Elf feeds the dinosaurs.

Materials Needed

Before we get started, gather these essential materials:

  1. Elf on the Shelf doll
  2. A small sign that reads “Do Not Feed the Dinosaurs”
  3. Plastic toy dinosaurs
  4. Mini marshmallows
  5. Small toy food dishes (optional)
  6. A sense of adventure and imagination!

Setting the Scene

  1. Choose a location: Find a suitable spot in your home where the Elf on the Shelf can interact with the plastic dinosaurs. A bookshelf, mantel, playroom, kitchen countertop, or even a cozy corner of your living room can work perfectly.
  2. Arrange the dinosaurs: Place the plastic dinosaurs in a semi-circle or group them together as if they’re enjoying a meal. Be creative with their positions; some can be standing, while others may be sitting or even lying down.
  3. Add the mini marshmallows: To make it look like the dinosaurs are munching on something, sprinkle mini marshmallows around their “meal” area. You can also place a few marshmallows in the toy food dishes for added detail or even in the dinosaur’s jaws.
  4. Position the Elf: Carefully position your Elf on the Shelf in the middle of the dinosaur gathering. Ensure they have a good view of the marshmallow feast.
  5. Display the sign: Place the “Do Not Feed the Dinosaurs” sign next to your Elf. You can prop it up on a small stand or simply lean it against a nearby object. This adds a humorous touch to the scene as if your Elf is trying to maintain order among the rambunctious dinos.

Creating the Magic

Once you’ve set up the scene, it’s time to let the magic unfold! Here are some ideas to make this Elf on the Shelf scenario even more engaging for your children:

  1. Write a note: Leave a note from the Elf explaining that they caught the dinosaurs sneaking marshmallows and had to remind them of the rules. This personal touch can add an extra layer of enchantment to the setup.
  2. Encourage imagination: Encourage your children to come up with their own stories about what’s happening. Are the dinosaurs behaving themselves, or are they causing mischief? The possibilities are endless!
  3. Morning surprises: You can stay with the dinosaur theme if you want. We offered plenty of Elf ideas. Each morning, have your kids excitedly search for their Elf and discover what mischief the dinosaurs got into overnight. This daily surprise can become a cherished holiday tradition.

Elf on the Shelf is all about creating magical moments and cherished memories during the holiday season. The Elf on the Shelf feeding dinosaurs idea is a delightful way to captivate your children’s imagination and make the holiday season even more special. With a little creativity and a few simple materials, you can bring this enchanting scene to life and keep the holiday spirit alive in your home. So, get ready to embark on a prehistoric adventure with your Elf and the dinosaurs, and watch your kids’ faces light up with wonder and joy!

What is Elf on the Shelf?

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and an elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror, or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, that the Elf is not touched each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD.

The holiday season is a time of magic, wonder, and delightful surprises. And what better way to celebrate the holiday spirit than with everyone’s favorite mischievous little elf – the Elf on the Shelf? If you’re looking for a fun and hilarious way to entertain your kids this year, look no further! We’ve got a fantastic Elf on the Shelf idea that’s sure to bring smiles and laughter to your home: the Elf on the Shelf filling water balloons in the kids’ bathroom sink!

Elf on the Shelf Water Balloon Antic

In a sweet little narrative, follow the story of Jingles and repeat the same Elf on the Shelf Idea.

Chapter 1: Meet Our Elf on the Shelf

Before we dive into the watery antics of our mischievous elf, let’s get to know our pint-sized troublemaker a little better. Our elf is named Jingles, and he’s here to spread holiday cheer and laughter wherever he goes. Jingles is a tiny elf with a big personality, and he’s known for his creative and sometimes downright silly ideas.

Chapter 2: The Kids’ Bathroom Surprise

It was a chilly December morning when our family discovered Jingles’ latest escapade. As the kids rushed to the bathroom (because Elf Bathroom Antics are funny) to get ready for the day, they were met with an unexpected and delightful sight. The bathroom sink was filled with colorful water balloons! Jingles had clearly been hard at work, filling up balloon after balloon, and he wasn’t finished yet.

Chapter 3: Balloon Bonanza

Jingles, the mastermind behind this watery wonderland Elf prank, had about a dozen water balloons filled and was currently working on filling another one. His tiny elf-sized hands were definitely at work, and his mischievous smile was contagious. The kids couldn’t believe their eyes and burst into fits of giggles.

Chapter 4: The Giggle Factor

One of the best things about Elf on the Shelf antics is the joy and laughter they bring to the whole family. Jingles had certainly outdone himself this time, turning a simple bathroom sink into a water balloon paradise. The kids couldn’t resist the temptation – they grabbed a few balloons and started a friendly water balloon fight right there in the bathroom… okay, they didn’t because mom doesn’t like an Elf on the Shelf mess.

How to Stage Elf on the Shelf Water Balloons

elf on the shelf water balloon idea in the bathroom

Elf on the Shelf brings a touch of magic to the holiday season, and Jingles the Elf certainly knows how to make memories that will last a lifetime. Filling water balloons in the kids’ bathroom sink was just one of his many creative ideas, but it’s a moment the kids will treasure forever. So, if you’re looking for a funny and memorable Elf on the Shelf idea this holiday season, consider surprising your little ones with a water balloon extravaganza in the bathroom. Just be prepared for lots of laughter and perhaps a little cleanup – after all, that’s all part of the holiday magic!

Supplies:

  • The Elf on the Shelf Doll
  • Water Balloons
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Get together some water a balloons. Fill and tie off a few and add them to the bottom of your child’s bathroom sink.

  3. Wrap your Elf doll around the sink faucet.
