Need some inspiration to keep the kids busy this summer? Check out our Visual Summer Bucket List for Kids on Frugal Coupon Living! Creative ideas and crafts for endless fun while school is out and tons of bucket list items to check off!

Visual Summer Bucket List for Kids

The days are getting warmer, kids are getting restless, and everyone is ready for that last school bell to ring! I’ve searched the internet high and low for some of the best summer bucket list ideas for kids, and I’ve put together my favorite finds. From rainy day fun to getting outdoors in the sun, take a look at this Visual Summer Kids Bucket List this school break! These bucket list items will get everyone excited for the summer days ahead. Enjoy!

How do I make a summer bucket list?

There are tons of different ways to create a summer bucket list! First, make a note of all the different kinds of activities you want to do. Then, you might want to consider making a calendar to organize your kids bucket list items.  We had a friend list all her summer bucket list ideas on a calendar with one bucket list activity per day. Alternatively, you can create a list on a dry erase board or a long sheet of paper and cross off your ideas as you get them done. You could even just keep a rough list in a journal and cross off ideas or add more throughout the summer. The kids are in for a memorable summer with these summer bucket list ideas!

How do you make a cute summer bucket list?

Get artistic with it! Wherever you write your summer bucket list down, make it cuter with little drawings and fun colors for each of the activities. Making your summer bucket list look nice will make you want to save it to cherish the memories you made. This is a great activity for the more creative and artistic kids. You could use glitter, paint, stickers, or any other art supplies to create a cute summer bucket list.

Turn into a Human Bubble like One Charming Bubble. We think this idea is so fun, and you could even make your own bubbles as an added activity!

Color the Entire Driveway in Sidewalk Chalk. This is always a fantastic idea when the weather is warm and there’s no rain in the forecast. Kids can get super creative, and even you can get out there and contribute some art if you’re up for it!

Incorporate some science with these 5 Minute Science Experiments for Kids or Glow in the Dark Volcano!

Make a Water Blob like this tutorial on Fabulessly Frugal. I had friends make this and the kids absolutely loved it. It’s a one and done type of craft, but you may be able to get a few uses out of it through the week to extend your summer bucket list fun.

Use a pizza box to make your own Solar Oven like this idea from I can Teach My Child. We suggest you take a look at our s’more recipes and give some a try inside your homemade oven. You can bake cookies in these if the sun is hot enough!

Take it to the beach with this Beach Scavenger Hunt on Frugal Coupon Living. Take a look at how we created this idea using a beach bucket!

Make your own Flower Crown from Fireflies and Mud Pies. I always wondered how to properly do this! I loved them when I was a kid but my technique was poor. These ones look downright professional!

Fill a truck or trampoline with pillows and blankets and have an outdoor campout under the stars! Source and Source

Try a game of Water Bag Pinata from Frugal Coupon Living. This one’s been super popular — who wouldn’t love some fun in the sun with a water game?

Turn Water Balloons into Canvas Art from Lasso the Moon. This is a great way to get messy and create some art while you’re at it. Make sure to give the kids a good shower afterwards!

Get messy! Take a classic board game and have fun with Shaving Cream Twister as seen on Pinterest. I would love to see an after photo of this game!

Build an Air Fort like this idea from Mom Trusted. It creates the perfect little hideaway. So fun!

Go Night Bowling with this idea from Growing a Jeweled Rose. And yes, it’s okay to extend the kids’ bedtime — it’s summer, after all!

Host a Backyard Movie Night like Ellie Petrov. We did this at a friend’s home. We brought over boxes of candy, she popped popcorn and it was such a fun memorable event!

Toss Glow Sticks Into the Pool. This looks so cool and is perfect for a night swim! Source Unknown.

Make the ultimate outdoor tent with two trucks and a tarp! Idea on LOL Pics.

Try another kind of chalk! Make this Frozen Popsicle Chalk for your ultimate masterpiece found on Reading Confetti.

Get crafty! Try your hand at these Homemade Tin Wind Chimes from Hands On As We Grow. I love that it lasts so much longer than one day!

Make this Waterfall Water Wall from Playing by the Book. This might take some effort but it looks like a fun project for a summer bucket list regardless!

On a rainy day, Make Abstract Window Art from And Next Comes L. You could probably google some abstract artists for inspiration and make an art lesson out of it!

Make a PVC Sprinkler like this idea from Make Zine. I think dad might have to get involved in the construction, but it’ll make your yard the hot spot of the neighborhood this summer — or should I say cool spot!

Weave with the Kids. This is a really nice tutorial on Artbar Blog. We worked on some of these recently and the kids had a great time making them!

Rainbow Popsicle Soap Recipe

How much joy would these bring to bath time? These Rainbow Popsicle Soaps are adorable and perfect for making scrubbing up fun! Layer bright colors, mix in a fun scent (like cucumber melon) and enjoy your homemade soap. These would also be great party favor ideas for a party or even nice to gift at a birthday party for someone on a budget!

Materials:

  • Cocoa butter block soap
  • Pink, orange, green, blue, and purple food coloring
  • Soap scent (we used cucumber melon, also consider an Essential Oil* like Lavender)
  • Small spray bottle of rubbing alcohol
  • Popsicle mold (also check the dollar store)
  • Wide craft sticks
  • Small sauce pot
  • 5 empty clean soup cans
  • Knife

*See where I get my Essential Oils.

Directions:

  1. Cut your soap block into about 10 large ice cube size pieces.
  2. Place 2 soap cubes in each tin can.
  3. Fill your pot about 1/4 way with water and bring to a boil on your stove.
  4.  Place one can in the boiling water to act as a double boiler.
  5. Stir occasionally for about 5 minutes until melted.
  6. Add in 1 very small drop of your pink food coloring and 1/8 teaspoon of your soap scent (any more food coloring will stain your hands when using).
  7.  Spray a very small amount of a non stick cooking spray inside your molds.
  8. Pour your pink melted soap 1/5 way up in your Popsicle mold, spray once with alcohol to prevent air bubbles.
  9. Freeze for 5 minutes, then stick Popsicle stick into the center.
  10. While your soap is in the freezer, place your next tin can with 2 soap cubes into the boiling water.
  11.  Add 1 very small drop of orange food coloring and 1/8 teaspoon soap scent, stir occasionally for 5 minutes.
  12.  Once melted, pour over your pink soap another 1/5 way and spray with alcohol.
  13. Freeze for 5 minutes.
  14.  Repeat steps 4-6 with each color.
  15. Once hardened, stick a Popsicle stick into each side of the soap to loosen, then pull out.
  16. Please supervise children around soap and while using soap as this smells and looks yummy but is still soap!
