iBotta Money-Earning App – Earn $5 just for signing up!

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

January 3, 2013 by FrugalCouponLiving Filed Under: Store Deals, Ways to Earn Leave a Comment

YAY!  There’s another money-earning app that is not entirely new; but it’s new to me and is now available for iPhone, iTouch, iPad and Android users!

It is called ibotta and it’s completely FREE! Plus, when you sign up through that link, you’ll get an extra $5 in your account!

ibotta just launched with Winco, meaning you can now earn cash when you purchase products at Winco, Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Target, Walmart and 26 other retailers!

Here’s how it works:

  • Open the app and select certain things you want to buy before you shop. There are various items available at numerous stores nationwide.
  • When you go shopping, take a picture of your receipt with your phone.  Ibotta will verify your purchase and credit your account!  In many cases, you will receive word from Ibotta in under 1 hour. It is super simple to upload your photo and money was added to my account within an hour.
  • Get cash back via Paypal (easy-peasy) or have it donated to a school of your choice.
  • Once you redeem an offer they will send you a new one.
  • Personalize your profile and tell them what you like and don’t like and you’ll get more tailored offers for you.  Also, be sure to check out the product detail page on the app itself in order to view the offer’s expiration date. Offers can sell out, so it’s important to redeem them before they’re gone!
You’ll earn money by watching quick videos, viewing recipes, taking polls, posting to your Facebook Wall, etc. AND then actually going to the store to purchase these specific items.  In addition to getting cash back, you can also use manufacturer’s coupons to lower your out of pocket expense.

This seriously takes no time to set up – maybe 5 minutes!  When you are all set up, you will see the offers listed on your screen. Make sure to scroll over because you should have a bunch!

Make sure to sign up through the link I provided so you can get your $5 bonus!  You won’t get it by just going through the App Store.  Once you register, download ibotta on your phone and do your first offer and you should see the $5 bonus added to your account.

I just love these apps because they earn me more money for just going shopping.

Thanks, My Frugal Adventures and Hip 2 Save for all the info!

Stephen King’s 11/22/63 – $3.99 for Kindle Download!

December 22, 2012 by FrugalCouponLiving Filed Under: Amazon, Hot Deals, Kindle, Online Shopping Leave a Comment

This new book 11/22/63 by Stephen King is really good!  I’ve actually been listening to it on Audible!  It’s about the JFK Assassination and what may have happened differently – much different than his other books.  If the JFK event interests you, you need to check this out:

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? Stephen King’s heart-stoppingly dramatic new novel is about a man who travels back in time to prevent the JFK assassination—a thousand page tour de force.

Following his massively successful novel Under the Dome, King sweeps readers back in time to another moment—a real life moment—when everything went wrong: the JFK assassination. And he introduces readers to a character who has the power to change the course of history.

Jake Epping is a thirty-five-year-old high school English teacher in Lisbon Falls, Maine, who makes extra money teaching adults in the GED program. He receives an essay from one of the students—a gruesome, harrowing first person story about the night 50 years ago when Harry Dunning’s father came home and killed his mother, his sister, and his brother with a hammer. Harry escaped with a smashed leg, as evidenced by his crooked walk.

Not much later, Jake’s friend Al, who runs the local diner, divulges a secret: his storeroom is a portal to 1958. He enlists Jake on an insane—and insanely possible—mission to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So begins Jake’s new life as George Amberson and his new world of Elvis and JFK, of big American cars and sock hops, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake’s life – a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.

A tribute to a simpler era and a devastating exercise in escalating suspense, 11/22/63 is Stephen King at his epic best.

Head to Amazon to download it now!

This giveaway is closed. Winners are Sandra, Cheryl, and Mari Jean

I first heard of Gutzy Gear when I met them at BlogHer this year and I fell in love with their product right away!  So when they approached me about doing a review, I knew the perfect person to let you know what they thought – my VA’s daughter!  She’s school age and has plenty of friends to share it with.

Gutzy Gear are Velcro straps that attached to your child’s backpack, messenger bag, suitcase, guitar strap and more.  Your child can customize their strap to fit their personality with all kinds of Velcro patches that attach directly to the strap.  There are actually over 100 patches to choose from, each with a fun, unique design to show off your child’s personality, favorite foods, etc.  They even have patches with Marvel Comic Superheroes, Monster High and more!  And since they’re completely removable, they can be traded at any time like collector’s items.

Ellie’s friends had so much fun picking patches that suited them and bartering with each other for something else until everyone was content with their design!  They played Gutzy Gear Bingo to win another Gutzy Gear patch of their choice and even took a stab at creating one of their own.  It’s been fun to walk up to school and see them all with their straps on their bookbags, each reflecting their own personality!

Gutzy Gear can be ordered online or you can look for it in select Target, Walmart, Kmart, Toys R Us and Office Depot.  We found some at the Walmart near us right by the backpacks!

A Sweet Thank You – Lemon Blueberry Cake Bread

As your family wraps up the school year it’s a great time to say thank you to the people who have lent a hand in your child’s school day.  Whether that’s teachers, volunteers, or a bus driver, a homemade treat always does the trick.  As teachers and mothers ourselves our hearts are full of gratitude for volunteers in our classrooms, and the educators of our children.

This Lemon Blueberry Cake Bread is sure to create sweet smiles and memories.

Bread Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 ½ tbsp lemon zest
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 ¼ cups blueberries

Bread Lemon Glaze:

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.  Spray 8 ½ x 4 ½ non stick loaf pan with cooking spray.  Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; set to the side.  In a medium bowl, cream the butter and 1 ½ cups sugar until fluffy in consistency.  Add the eggs; beat well.  Add in the lemon zest.  Pour in the flour mixture alternating with the milk.  Gently fold in the blueberries.  Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

To add a glaze mix the sugar, lemon juice, and zest in a small saucepan.  Bring to a boil.  Using a fork, poke holes in the bread and pour glaze on top.  Allow to cool for 30 minutes.

Simply download our thank you note, print on card stock paper, write a sweet message on the back, and attached to a cellophane wrapped yummy loaf!  For other end of the school year ideas visit us at  www.simplysprouteducate.com.
