Mermaid Games for Parties

Musical Islands

This fun party activity gets everyone up and moving. Plus it’s super easy to set up! All you need is some hula hoops, a die, and tropical music. Similar to the classic musical chairs game, party guests move around the area while the music is playing. When the music stops, everyone will choose a numbered hula hoop to stand in. Roll the die and everyone in the matching number are out. Keep playing until there is only one person left. The winner is the last person standing!

Seaweed Limbo

Using colorful crepe paper tied to poles, mermaids will swim under the seaweed. The rules are the same as traditional limbo. Each round the poles are lowered, making the game more challenging. Whoever can still fit under when the last pole is in place wins!

Pass the Treasure

Similar to a Christmas gift wrapping game, treasure is wrapped in layers of colorful wrapping paper and bubble wrap. Pass the treasure around the circle until the music stops. Who ever is holding the package unwraps one layer of the treasure.

Participants can either keep any small trinkets that are unwrapped in the layers. The party game ends when the treasure is unwrapped. The lucky mermaid that unwraps the last layer gets the prize!

Burst the Bubble

This is another great active game that can be set up in seconds and played with all ages. All you need for this game is two sets of bubbles for each team. Keeping the opposite team from popping all your team’s bubbles while popping their bubbles is the goal. The team with bubbles left at the end of the game wins!

Seaweed Tangle

Using rolls of crepe paper (shades of blue, purple and green streamers work best for a mermaid theme) party guests will decorate their “ocean” with “seaweed” to make a fun maze that they can swim through.

Participants can go to treasure chests and pick out rewards like candy, pearl necklaces, jewels, mermaid crafts, or sequin wands.

Even more rewarding will be the empty stomachs ready for mermaid party food and tasty cupcakes for dessert!

There is no perfect mother. In fact a good mother knows her imperfections. In fact, to quote Arianna Huffington “The fastest way to break the cycle of perfectionism and become a fearless mother is to give up the idea of doing it perfectly – indeed to embrace uncertainty and imperfection.”

If you are here today because you are also an exhausted mom, I get it. As a mom of five, I am also asked which number kid is the hardest. Honestly, each kid is unique and comes with their own joys and challenges. However, for me the answer to this question is always the same “the first is the hardest.”

If you are here, you are a mom. In that case, you at least have one. Hugs mama, it’s hard but you are strong. Remember, even in the day to day challenge, you are in this place, the present. And the present is the gift of your child(ren) even on days where you might not feel it.

What is a Bucket List?

A bucket list can be anything from things you want to do, places you want to go or people you want to see this time of year. For many people, a bucket list is a list of activities they would like to accomplish as a family. For others, a bucket list can include things to do before you die.

A bucket list can be short, like for a period of time like a season . Your list can be seasonal like a Christmas bucket list, or be made up of all the things that are unique to the months of March, April, and May. It can also be long like fun things you would like to accomplish in a lifetime.

The list can focus on indoor activities, things to do on vacation, or even over a school break Share these activities with others or make them solo. There’s really no limit to what you can put on your personalized bucket list or family bucket list.

A new season. A new tradition.

Spring Bucket List Ideas

Spring is the perfect time to start a new family tradition and make a plan to spend time together. We always have the best of intentions to do things as a family, but it seems like something always comes up. This year, make a plan and stick to it with this handy dandy spring bucket list!

One fun way to welcome the new season is to get outdoors and take in fresh air. Warmer weather opens up the list of ideas and outdoor activities you can do together. Of course, a list makes everything organized and together. Plus crossing things off your list is a great feeling and the reward of making great memories together is even better!

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Have a family game night.
Make s’mores over a campfire.
Go on a road trip.
Craft a spring theme art project.
Go for a swim in the lake or pool.
Visit a nearby amusement park or waterpark.
Volunteer.
Go on an insect or bug hunt.
Plant spring flowers or vegetables in the garden.
Have a picnic outdoors.
Visit a farmer’s market
Go for a nature walk.
Attend a festival or fair.
Have an Easter egg hunt.
Visit a farm or petting zoo.
Make homemade ice.
Visit seasonal festivals for a staycation.

Many of these ideas will offer the best time for kids of all ages – toddlers to adults.

St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner and it’s time to celebrate all things rainbow and lucky with a colorful St. Patrick’s Scavenger Hunt. Planning a fun for this Irish holiday can be a bit tricky, but with this St. Patrick’s Day leprechaun activity your kids will be over the rainbow looking for clues.

St. Patrick’s Day Traditions

St. Patrick’s Day is the day when we celebrate all things Irish, including a little bit of luck and magic. It’s a great time to spend with family or friends, eat delicious food, wear green clothes, and enjoy different Irish traditions!

There are plenty of ways to get in on the fun too – you can make your own lucky charms for good luck throughout the year, make your own DIY leprechaun trap or learn about traditional Irish music instruments and dancing.

St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt

That sneaky little leprechaun escaped the the Leprechaun Trap. However he left behind a fun St. Patricks’ Day activity. This printable is perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day party or family activity. Just download, print, and cut out the clues. Hide them around the house for a fun challenge and discover (perhaps) a Leprechaun’s pot of gold.

Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt Clues

In order to make this St. Patty’s Day Scavenger Hunt really fun, we added some rhyming clues that your child can solve as they race around the house in this at home treasure hunt. If you have toddlers or younger kids, pair them with older children to help solve the St. Patrick’s’ Day Scavenger Hunt riddles and clue cards.

A few examples of rhyming clues include…

I think I hear something jiggling like gold. Run to the place where you keep the food cold. (Refrigerator.)

You’re doing a great job on this treasure hunt, continue the fun when you look out front. (Lawn or front porch.)

Irish kisses and shamrock pinches, search in the place where you keep your riches. (Piggy bank or wallet.)

To get started, download and print the clues on white cardstock. There are twenty different clues for you to choose from, making it easy to set up a custom scavenger hunt that works for your home.

Instructions

Once printed, cut out the clues and hide them around the house so they match the list given. The idea behind the scavenger hunt is that a leprechaun has hidden treasure that your kids need to find.

You’ll want to put together a themed prize for the final clue location. This could be anything from a pot of gold coins to a special treat like some yummy candy or an Irish-themed toy.

Once everything is ready, gather the kids and explain the rules. Save the first card. Then, it’s time to get busy hunting!

The best part about this scavenger hunt is that it can be tailored to any age group, even adults! Just make sure to adjust the treats and small prizes at the end of the rainbow accordingly. Mini bottles of alcohol, chocolates, a rainbow charcuterie board and green beer would be a great adult prize for a St. Patrick’s Day treasure hunt!

Plan the perfect wine tasting party with these helpful tips and hilarious party games that will have your party guests talking about for years to come!

If you’re looking for a great way to spend an evening with friends, family or colleagues then consider throwing a wine tasting party. Plan a few classy wine tasting games, add some small bites that complement the wine flavors, and a delicious dessert and you have one amazing party that will have all the guests raving!

Which types of wine should I serve?

A sparkling wine is always a great way to start the night while people are arriving. Next, a nice white wine is fantastic and pairs well with a variety of foods (think savory appetizers). Reds are heavier in flavor so best for dinner parties or later in the evening when people have already eaten or paired with a dessert. Consider serving one red and one white to your guests if you’re not sure which they’ll prefer.

What should I serve while tasting?

A lot of people might think wine tasting is all about the wine, but it’s just as important to have something to go with it! If you’re hosting this kind of party at home, take some time beforehand to plan out what foods will match up best with each type of wine you’re serving.

For a wine & cheese party, serve light appetizers like cheese plates or olives when there are still plenty of gaps between courses so that no one feels too full after eating. Choose flavors that compliment the type of wines. For example, cheese like brie goes great with light white wines, goat’s milk ricotta tastes amazing with bolder whites and blueberries go perfect with sweet dessert wines.

Put together a charcuterie board with cheeses, grapes on the vine, pickles, olives, a few varieties of crackers and prosciutto for an impressive spread that your guests will love. You can also make individual charcuterie board jars or small plates that are served with each wine, to make sure the tastings match up seamlessly.

It’s also great to have a nice dessert to finish off the night. Try a sweet treat that pairs well with wine like tiramisu or a fruit tart.

What a party without entertainment and tons of laughs? Take the stress out of planning and grab these fun, printable wine tasting games for a great night that your guests (and you!) are sure to enjoy.

Planning a great party

Host a memorable wine tasting party with fun games and provide an opportunity to try new wines. But before you start planning, here are some tips on how to throw a successful party:

Choose plate and decoration colors that look nice with wine colors like pink, maroon, red, or even a black or gold accent.
Make sure there are enough seats or stools available in each area of the house where people might want to sit down, focusing on the area where games will be played.
Invite friends who like similar things as yourself
If possible, ask what guests’ dietary restrictions are ahead of time – it’ll save you from having to offer a bunch of different options
Don’t drink too much before people arrive! You’ll be stuck hosting things without even being present for half the event. Keep one glass on hand so guests know that they can get something to drink when needed, but don’t add more than two glasses – this will prevent you from becoming too tipsy as well.
Keep extra chairs around in case someone has an unexpected guest show up at the last minute. No one wants to feel like you weren’t expecting them.
