Supplies:

  • The Elf on the Shelf Doll
  • Clothing hanger with clips
  • Cardstock or paper (this is the best cardstock which is perfect for your Elf printables)
  • Marker or Pen

Instructions:

  1. Gather Your Materials: Start by collecting the necessary materials. Retrieve The Elf on the Shelf doll, a clothing hanger (preferably with clips), a piece of paper, and a marker or pen.
  2. Prepare the Note: Take a piece of paper and write a simple and festive note on it. You might consider something like, “Just hanging out until Santa comes.” This adds a playful touch to the setup and lets your children know that their mischievous Scout Elf is eagerly awaiting Santa’s arrival.

  6. Set the Scene: Enhance the festive atmosphere by adding some holiday decorations or small props around Scout Elf doll. This could include mini ornaments, tinsel, or a small gift wrapped in holiday paper.

How to Create Tight Rope Walker The Elf on the Shelf

Supplies

  • Push pin
  • String of holiday lights
  • Concealing materials (tape, hooks, or adhesive strips)
  • Christmas-themed decorations (optional)

Instructions

Choose the Perfect Spot

Select a strategic location in your home where The Elf on the Shelf can showcase their tightrope walking skills. Ideal spots include entryways, living rooms, or any area with a high ceiling that will allow for a captivating display but something the kids can’t touch or look over closely.

Secure the Push Pin

Through Scout Elf’s red hat, carefully place the push pin into the ceiling, ensuring it’s stable and well-hidden. Be mindful of the surroundings to avoid damage to your home. The push pin will serve as the anchor point for your little red friend’s tightrope.

Conceal the Pin

If needed, using creative ingenuity, conceal the push pin with decorations or other items in the room. You want the focus to be on the magical tightrope walker rather than the mechanics behind it.

String the Lights

Unravel the string of holiday lights and carefully drape them below Scout Elf’s legs, creating the illusion of a festive tightrope. Adjust the lights as needed to achieve the desired effect.

Position The Elf on the Shelf

Gently perch The Elf on the Shelf atop the string of lights, ensuring the North Pole friend is secure and balanced. Make sure Scout Elf is facing forward, ready to embark on its tightrope adventure.

Power Up the Lights

Plug in the holiday lights to illuminate the tightrope, adding a touch of magic to the scene. This step not only enhances the visual appeal but also captivates your kids with the sparkling brilliance of the Christmas elf’s high-wire act. Be sure that the lights are safe to touch fabrics like Scout Elf’s red clothes.

Add Festive Touches (Optional)

Enhance the overall holiday ambiance by incorporating additional Christmas-themed decorations around the North Pole visitor’s tightrope. This could include ornaments, tinsel, or other festive elements that complement the scene.

The Elf on the Shelf Tightrope Walker is a show-stopping holiday display that will have your kids believing in the magic of the season. With a bit of creativity and some simple materials, you can create a memorable and enchanting experience that adds an extra layer of joy and excitement to your family’s Christmas traditions. Watch as your children’s eyes light up with amazement, and enjoy the enchantment of the holiday season with this delightful idea!

So you’ve gotten an elf doll! Now what?

Introducing The Elf on the Shelf is a fun and interactive way to get kids excited about the Christmas season. This beloved Christmas tradition involves a magical Scout Elf who keeps an eye on children and reports back to Santa each night. The Elf moves around the house each day, getting into mischief and creating a sense of wonder and excitement for kids of all ages.

Understanding the Tradition of The Elf on the Shelf is important before introducing it to your family. The story of Scout Elf and its purpose in watching over children can be explained to kids in a way that is both fun and informative. Once kids understand the magic behind the North Pole visitor, they will look forward to its arrival each year and enjoy coming up with creative ideas for its daily antics.

Understanding the Tradition

what is the elf on the shelf explained

The Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas tradition that has become increasingly popular in recent years. The tradition involves a Scout Elf who flies to the North Pole each night to report back to Santa about the children’s behavior. Santa’s helper then returns to the family’s home and perches in a new spot, waiting for someone to spot them. Children love to wake up and race around the house looking for their family elf.

The tradition started back in 2005 when Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell self-published the book “The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition” along with a small Scout Elf. The book explains that elves love to report to Santa to tell him about each day’s activities. The Scout Elves help Santa manage his nice list by taking note of a family’s Christmas adventures and reporting back to Santa at the North Pole nightly.

Parents often move the Scout Elf each night to create a sense of excitement and anticipation for the children. The tradition is easy to uphold and follows three simple rules: First, children cannot touch the little guy or he will lose his magic. Second, the helper can’t speak or move while anyone is watching. And third, the little friend is only allowed to move at night.

The Elf on the Shelf tradition has become a beloved Christmas tradition for many families. It’s a fun way to create lasting memories and build excitement for the holiday season.

  • Scout Elf Cannot Talk: You can talk to The Elf and Elf will listen but he/she cannot talk back.
  • Movement of Elves: The North Pole visitor will move to a new location each night, but you cannot move him/her. If he falls, get Magic Grippers to move him.
  • Holiday Reporting: The holiday visitor is meant to report back to Santa each night about the children’s behavior. It’s important to remind children that Santa’s helper is always watching and to encourage good behavior and kindness throughout the day.
  • Scout Elf Goodbye: On Christmas Eve, the Christmas visitor will leave for the year and return to the North Pole with Santa. It’s important to explain this to children so they don’t become upset when The Elf on the Shelf is no longer around.
  • Names for Elves: While not necessarily a rule, giving the elf a name can make the experience more personal and enjoyable for children. Encourage children to come up with creative and fun names for their family elf.

Remember, the rules you establish for The Elf on the Shelf can be customized to fit your family’s needs and preferences. You can print out free printable Christmas elf rules to guide you. The most important thing is to have fun and create lasting memories during the holiday season.

1. Naming the Christmas Elf

The Scout Elf can be a mischievous little guy and having a narrative for his antics can add fun and excitement for the entire family. Have a back pocket of explanations of Santa’s helper’s location, what to do if he/she is touched, or even a list of reasons why he/she did not move (for the time you forget to move him!)

4. Encouraging Good Behavior

The Elf on the Shelf is not just about fun and games, it’s also a way to encourage good behavior during the holiday season. You can involve the family by having the little friend leave notes for good behavior or by having the helper reward good behavior with small treats or surprises.

Saying Goodbye to The Elf on the Shelf

the elf on the shelf last night ideas

Saying goodbye to The Elf on the Shelf can be an emotional moment for both children and parents. After all, the friend has been a part of the family’s daily routine for weeks, if not months, leading up to Christmas. However, there are ways to make the farewell less sad and more memorable.

One idea is to have the little guy leave a goodbye letter for the children. This letter can thank the children for being such great hosts and recap some of the Scout Elf’s favorite moments during his stay. There are many free printable templates available online, making it easy to create a personalized letter that the children can keep as a memento.

Another way to say goodbye to The Elf on the Shelf is to throw a farewell party. This can be a fun way to celebrate the end of the Santa’s helper’s visit and create lasting memories. The party can include festive decorations, snacks, and even a special performance by the little guy himself. Involving the children in the planning process can make the party even more special.

For those who prefer a simpler approach, a hug and a thank you may be enough to bid the little friend farewell. Reminding the children that the Scout lf will return next year can also help ease the sadness of saying goodbye.

One last way to say good-bye is a retirement letter. This says goodbye forever as The Elf on the Shelf moves to a new family.

No matter how the family chooses to say goodbye to The Elf on the Shelf, it’s important to remember that the visit is just one small part of the holiday season. The memories and traditions created with family and loved ones are what truly make the season special.

The Elf on the Shelf has become a beloved holiday tradition for many families, bringing joy and excitement as children eagerly anticipate the mischievous adventures of their festive visitor. One question that seems to arise among those new to The Elf on the Shelf phenomenon is whether the Scout Elf’s hands come connected. In this blog post, we’ll delve into this intriguing inquiry to provide clarity for parents, guardians, and anyone curious about the inner workings of this magical holiday tradition.

The Origins of The Elf on the Shelf

Before we unravel the mystery of the Scout Elf’s hands, let’s briefly revisit the origins of this enchanting tradition. The Elf on the Shelf was first introduced in the form of a children’s picture book written by Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell. The story revolves around a Scout Elf who observes children’s behavior during the day and reports back to Santa Claus each night.

Are you supposed to cut The Elf on the Shelf hands?

Now, let’s get to the heart (or rather, the hands) of the matter – the anatomy of the little red guy.  The Elf on the Shelf arrived with his hands stitched together. This is a small white stitch that can easily be cut with scissors. The Elf on the Shelf Doll does not come with instructions. Most parents of the Scout Elf Moving Committee (EMC) prefer to cut The Elf on the Shelf hands allowing for a variety of creative and mischievous positions for how they can stage Christmas elf. Once their hands are cut, you have the option to make The Elf on the Shelf poseable. Creating movable limbs, arms, and legs, can be done with a new-sew technique, paper clips, or The Elf on the Shelf sewing kit. This flexibility enables parents and guardians to set up fun and imaginative scenes for their children to discover each morning during the holiday season.

Can The Elf on the Shelf be touched?

You cannot touch The Elf on the Shelf with your bare hands. If you need to move your North Pole visitor, you can use Magic Grippers for The Elf on the Shelf. These are standard kitchen tongs with a magic gripper printable sign. Holiday elves loose their magical powers if touched by humans. Not touching the Scout Elf helps maintain the little red guy role as Santa’s Scout, returning to the North Pole each evening to continue to report on children’s behavior without interference every evening. If Scout Elf has been touched, you might notice he does not move his spot for one or two days. You can print rules here.

So how do you keep The Elf on the Shelf hands together?

If you have taken the plunge and cut little red guys hands, there are “no see” options to keep your The Elf on the Shelf hands together for staging Scout Elf. There are many ideas that have Sout Elf’s hands together (we will get to that later.) Some options are temporary ways to connect The Elf on the Shelf hands and can be undone with each new elf idea. Parents can get creative with the poses, making the North Pole visitor seem even more lifelike and mischievous. From ziplining on a candy cane to hanging from a light fixture or roasting a marshmallow for a s’more, the possibilities are endless.

We are going to take a look at three easy and temporary options for how to connect The Elf on the Shelf’s hands.

If you want to be really creative and fun, do them all in order for the entire season. Grab an calendar and plan out your nights!

Let’s tell the story of Barbie and The Elf on the Shelf.

Barbie Meets an Elf: The Beginning

Barbie had always been a fan of Christmas, and she loved decorating her house with all sorts of festive ornaments. One year, she decided to add a new member to help her with the Christmas decor family – The Elf on the Shelf. Little did she know that this tiny elf would soon become an integral part of her life, and the two would embark on many adventures together and one day get married.

The First Encounter

It was a cold December morning when Barbie first met her new elf friend. She was sipping her coffee and admiring her Christmas tree when she noticed a small figure perched on one of the Christmas branches. It was The Elf on the Shelf, and he had come to keep an eye on her and report back to Santa.

Barbie was delighted to have the elf in her home, and she quickly introduced herself. The funny Scout Elf, who went by the name Rupert, was shy at first, but he soon warmed up to Barbie’s friendly demeanor. They started in the kitchen baking cookies for Santa. (Photo credit Ellie and Mac)

The two spent the whole day getting to know each other, and Rupert was amazed by Barbie’s kindness and generosity. Of course, under the mistletoe, Santa’s helper and Barbie shared their first kiss. (Photo credit Little Hiccups)

Falling in Love

As the days went by, Rupert grew more and more attached to Barbie. He loved spending time with her and watching her go about her daily routine. The North Pole visitor fell in love with Barbie. He let her know in a candy cane heart letter.

Barbie and her boyfriend spent the next summer at the beach. She dressed as a mermaid and the holiday elf rode the Barbie jet ski.

The Proposal

One day, he decided to take their friendship to the next level and Scout Elf proposed to Barbie. It might look like it moved rather quickly, but we both know elf is a doll and well, Barbie is too. Let’s keep the story rolling, please…

Barbie was taken aback by Scout Elf’s sudden proposal, but she couldn’t deny that she had grown fond of him too. She accepted his proposal, and the two became inseparable. They went on many adventures together, from exploring the North Pole to baking Christmas cookies.

The Wedding

First comes love and then comes marriage… After a few months of blissful dating, Rupert and Barbie decided to tie the knot. They had a beautiful winter wedding, with snowflakes falling gently from the sky and carolers singing in the background. (Photo credit Not Quite Susie)

The ceremony was attended by all of their friends and family, including Santa Claus himself. Their reindeer pet held the sign and acted as the ring bearer.  (Photo credit Polar Square Designs )

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in a cozy cabin in the woods, snuggled up by the fire and sipping hot cocoa and (of course) sugary syrup. They knew that their love would only grow stronger with each passing Christmas season, and they were excited to spend many more holidays together.

In the cabin was a special, couples-only mini marshmallow bath. It was a romantic honeymoon. (Photo credit Source.)

And so, the story of The Elf on the Shelf and Barbie began. They would go on to have many more adventures, bringing joy and laughter to children all over the world.

Barbie’s Dream House Adventures

Barbie’s Dream House is the perfect place for The Elf on the Shelf to have some fun and mischief. After their honeymoon, they settled home and began to enjoy the daily life of being newlyweds.

Here are some ideas to inspire you:

As a member of the Christmas elf moving committee who needs adult elf humor just as much as the kids, you can even make it a little funny and act like you are on MTV Cribs.

Here are some ideas for stops on the tour:

  • The kitchen, where the little guy can cook up some mischief with Barbie’s cooking supplies
  • The living room, where Santa’s helper can relax on the couch and watch TV
  • The bathroom, where the North Pole visitor can take a bubble bath in Barbie’s tub
  • The bedroom, where he can try on Ken’s and/or Barbie’s clothes and accessories
  • The closet, where the tiny red guy can hide in Barbie’s shoes or clothes

Make sure to take plenty of pictures of elf home tour to share with your family and friends.

Barbie Slumber Party

What could be more fun than a slumber party with Barbie and The Elf on the Shelf? Set up a sleeping area for the little guy in Barbie’s room, complete with a mini bed and blankets. Then, have Barbie and the little red guy stay up late playing games, watching movies, and snacking on popcorn and other treats.

To make the slumber party even more fun, create a list of activities for Barbie and Scout Elf to do together. Here are some ideas:

  • Play dress up with Barbie’s clothes and accessories
  • Host a movie night with popcorn
  • Have a pillow fight (Photo credit Travels with Choppy)
  • Tell ghost stories
  • Make friendship bracelets
  • Play board games or card games
  • Play a game of Twister

At the sleepover, everyone can enjoy a roller coaster ride. Elves loves the dryer runs and Barbie and his friends will love the ride too.

For the slumber party idea, incorporate sleepover party games for your child. They can have their own slumber party too. Beside Santa’s helper, you can even have a letterboard note announcing how much sleep was not gotten.

Barbie even let Santa’s helper have a sock sleeping bag slumber party with his best friends – what a doll!

With these ideas, Barbie’s Dream House is sure to be a favorite spot for Elf on the Shelf.

Fashion Frenzy

Barbie’s Wardrobe Raid

Barbie’s wardrobe is a treasure trove of fashionable items that can inspire some creative Elf on the Shelf ideas. Elves can raid Barbie’s closet and use her clothes (or Ken’s clothes – guess he left some behind?) to create fun and unique outfits for themselves. (Photo credit Source)

One idea is to have the holiday elves dress up in Barbie’s clothes and strike a pose on a miniature runway made of cardboard or paper. The little guy can also accessorize with Barbie’s jewelry and shoes for added flair.

Another idea is to have the elf create a mini fashion shoot with Barbie’s clothes. The elf can use a toy camera and set up a scene with a miniature backdrop and photo booth props. This can make for a fun and playful photo opportunity for kids and parents alike.

Fashion Show

The little guy can also put on a fashion show with Barbie’s clothes for the other toys in the playroom. The North Pole visitor can use a makeshift runway and invite other toys to be the audience. Santa’s helper can also make fun commentary about the outfits as they are modeled. Just write down personalized messages using quote boards – oh the things holiday elves might be caught saying! (Photo credit Little Hiccups)

elf on the shelf fashion show with barbie clothes

To make the fashion show even more exciting, elves can create a scorecard and rate each outfit on a scale of 1 to 10. This can encourage kids to get creative and come up with their own unique outfits for the family elf to model.

Overall, raiding Barbie’s wardrobe can be a fun and creative way to come up with The Elf on the Shelf ideas. It can also inspire kids to think outside the box and come up with their own fashion-forward ideas. You can have your child lay out Barbie/Elf clothing the night before of what they want their family elf to wear the next day!

Holiday Mischief

Barbie and The Elf on the Shelf friend have been up to some holiday mischief! Check out these fun hijinks to add some mischievous ideas to your holiday season.

Christmas Tree Chaos

Barbie’s friend decided to have some fun with the Barbie Christmas tree. They rearranged the ornaments and made everything pink, hung boas from the branches, and even tied a string of lights around the tree like a scarf. It was a silly sight, but Barbie couldn’t help but laugh at the cleverness of her mischievous friend and how adorable her pink Christmas tree was.

Snowball Fight

elf on the shelf snow angel snow ball fight

One morning, Barbie woke up to find The Elf on the Shelf friend had started a snowball fight with some of her other dolls. They had created a fort out of pillows and blankets and were having a blast throwing cotton balls and mini marshmallows “snowballs” at each other. Barbie couldn’t resist joining in on the fun and soon the whole house was filled with laughter, snowball fights, and (of course) snow angels. (Photo credit Source)

DIY Elf on the Shelf Igloo House Craft & Idea

Later, The Elf on the Shelf camped out with his friend in a snowball igloo. Of course, Barbie stayed inside because anyone who loves a Dream House doesn’t prefer the great outdoors or anything less than a 5-star hotel.

Barbie’s Convertible Joyride

Barbie’s The Elf on the Shelf friend decided to take Barbie’s convertible for a joyride. They buckled up, put on some shades, and hit the open road. Barbie was shocked when she found her car in a different spot than where she left it, but couldn’t help but laugh when she saw her holiday friend behind the wheel. (Photo credit Crystal & Comp)

Barbie’s Car Repair

After the joyride, Barbie needed to repair the flat tire on her car. Of course, her husband was able to fix Barbie’s car so she and her gal pal could quickly get back on the road.

These Elf on the Shelf ideas with Barbie are sure to bring some holiday cheer and laughter to your home. Get creative and have fun with your own mischievous ideas!

Culinary Capers

The Elf on the Shelf is always looking for new ways to have fun and get into mischief. One way to do that is by teaming up with Barbie in the kitchen. Here are some culinary capers that your Scout Elf can get into with Barbie.

Baking with Barbie

Barbie loves to bake, and she’s always looking for a new recipe to try. Your little elf can help her out by leaving a recipe book open to a page with a delicious-looking dessert. Barbie will be delighted to find the recipe and start baking. The family elf can even leave a note with a suggestion for a fun twist on the recipe. (Photo credit Source)

To take it up a notch, Santa’s helper can rearrange the ingredients in the kitchen. For example, he can replace the sugar with salt or swap the flour with baking powder. Barbie will be in for a surprise when she starts baking or your child starts baking delicious cookies with the ingredients The Elf on the Shelf left out!

Scout Elf’s Candy Cane Craze

The Elf on the Shelf loves candy canes, and he can’t get enough of them during the holiday season. Barbie can help him out by making some candy cane-inspired treats.

One idea is to make candy cane cookies. Barbie can make a simple sugar cookie dough and add crushed candy canes to the mix. The result is a delicious, festive cookie that your Scout Elf will love. Another idea is to make candy cane hot chocolate. Barbie can melt some white chocolate and add crushed candy canes to the mix. She can then add the mixture to hot milk for a delicious and festive drink.

Your visitor can leave a note with a suggestion for a fun twist on the recipe or leave some candy canes for Barbie to use in her baking. The little red guy can also leave a candy cane hunt out for your child to participate in with all the extra candy canes around. Once the candy canes are found, recipes can be made!

The Elf on the Shelf can have a lot of fun in the kitchen with Barbie. Whether they’re baking together or making candy cane-inspired treats, there are plenty of culinary capers to be had.

The Grand Finale

The Elf on the Shelf has been up to mischief for weeks, and now it’s time for the grand finale. Here are two ideas for the final night with Barbie and The Elf on the Shelf.

The Christmas Eve Ball

Barbie loves to dance, and her husband is no exception. For the grand finale, the holiday visitor can set up a mini ballroom with a tiny disco ball, streamers, and balloons. He can even invite some of Barbie’s other dolls to join in the fun. The little red guy can be dressed up in a tuxedo or a ball gown, and he can dance the night away with his new friends.

“Dancing with the girls and partying all night, you should have seen us, it was such a sight!”  Grab this free printable note and add it to your festive Christmas ball.

The Elf on the Shelf and Barbie can have their own special dining table for the winter date. (Photo credit Source and Source)

To make the ball even more special, the elf can leave a note for Barbie inviting her to the ball. The note can be written in glitter or on a fancy piece of paper. Barbie will be delighted to receive an invitation to the Christmas Eve Ball. At the Christmas Eve Ball, make sure to have a kissing booth!

Barbie’s Suprise

And of course, first comes love, then comes marriage, and then comes baby. Grab a cute elf baby for Barbie and her man. There are plenty of cute little baby ideas for the end of your holiday visitor and the year to come.

With these two ideas, The Elf on the Shelf can end his visit with Barbie on a high note. She will be thrilled with the Christmas Eve Ball a baby surprise, and she will remember her time with the Scout Elf fondly until next year.

Once you have the perfect scene, it’s time to dress up your friend in a bow-tiful outfit. Here are some ideas:

  • Use a ribbon to create a bow tie for your Noth Pole friend. Simply tie the ribbon around their waist and adjust the size to fit.
  • Create a bow headband for your red guy by gluing a small bow to a plain headband. Your Scout Elf will look adorable with this accessory.
  • Create a bow skirt for your Christmas Elf by using a piece of tulle or ribbon. Simply tie the tulle or ribbon around the Noth Pole friend’s waist and fluff it out to create a full skirt. (DIY Inspired)

With these ideas, your elf will be ready for a bow-tiful adventure this holiday season.

Bows as Props

One of the best ways to keep the Christmas tradition alive is by coming up with creative ideas for your elf’s daily antics. One way to do this is by incorporating bows as props into your elf’s mischief. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Rock Climbing Bow Wall

Your Noth Pole friend can show off their adventurous side by scaling a wall made entirely of bows! Simply attach bows of varying sizes and colors to a wall using tape or adhesive strips. Your family elf can then use the bows as hand and footholds to climb up the wall. It’s a fun and festive way to add some excitement to your elf’s daily routine.

Bow-tie Shenanigans

how to make a bow tie for elf on the shelf

Why wear a boring old tie when you can wear a bow-tie?  The Elf on the Shelf can show off their fashion sense by sporting a bow-tie made from a festive holiday bow. Simply use velcro, ribbon, and fabric glue. Your North Pole visitor can then wear the DIY bow-tie with pride and maybe even start a new fashion trend like The Celebration Shoppe.

In addition to the DIY bow tie for Santa’s helper, you can print your own bow ties in our Photo Booth Props Printables. In addition to festive Christmas ties for elves, there are cute elf-sized props including lips, a beard, a snowman, a penguin, Christmas sayings, and more.

Rainbow of Bows

Why settle for one color when you can have them all? Santa’s helper can create a rainbow of bows by lining up bows of different colors in a row. It’s a simple yet colorful way to add some pizzazz to your little guy’s daily routine.

Toilet Bow

Yes, you read that right. Your little friend can create stilly bathroom antics and make a toilet bow by attaching bows to the toilet seat and bathroom mirror. It’s a silly and unexpected way to add some humor to your daily antics. Just make sure to remove the bow before anyone uses the toilet!

Incorporating bows as props into your holiday mischief is a fun and festive way to keep the tradition alive. These ideas are just the beginning – let your imagination run wild and see what other creative ideas you can come up with!

Bow Games

Looking for some fun and creative ideas with bows? Look no further than these exciting bow game ideas for The Elf on the Shelf! Your kids will love playing along with their favorite North Pole elf and competing in these festive challenges.

Bow Tug of War

In this classic game with a holiday twist, your little guy can play tug of war using a bow, twine, or ribbon!  In this cute Scout Elves at Play, The Elf on the Shelf sets up the Scout Elf game for you.

Bow and Arrow Challenge

elf on the shelf bow and arrow game

For a more advanced bow game, Santa’s helper can set up a bow and arrow challenge! Using a small toy bow and arrow set, your kids can take turns trying to hit a target. To make it more challenging, your holiday friend can move the target around each night!  Or stage the little guy with a miniature bow and arrow. You can shoot this printable Target Practie for Elves or a reindeer (oh no!)

Tic-Tac-Toe Bow Game

diy elf on the shelf tic tac toe

For a fun and festive twist on the classic game of tic-tac-toe, your little friends can set up a game board using bows! Simply arrange the bows in a tic-tac-toe grid on a flat surface, and use smaller bows or other small objects as game pieces. Your kids will love playing this holiday-themed game with their family Christmas visitor! Add a cute sign that says Tic-Tac-BOW!

Whether you try one of these bow games or come up with your own, your Scout Elf is sure to bring lots of fun and festive cheer to your home this holiday season.

Bow Crafting with Elf on the Shelf

Bow-making Workshop

The Elf on the Shelf loves to craft bows, and what better way to get in the holiday spirit than by creating your own bows for your visitor to wear? To get started, gather supplies such as ribbon, scissors, glue, and any other embellishments you want to add. One evening, you can have your North Pole friend deliver all the supplies and write a note “let’s make bows!”

One easy way to make a bow is to cut a length of ribbon and fold it into loops, securing each loop with a twist tie or wire. Then, tie a smaller piece of ribbon around the center of the loops to create the bow shape. The Scout Elf can wear the bow as a hair accessory or use it to decorate a gift or tree.

For more advanced bow-making techniques, check out online tutorials or visit a craft store for inspiration. The Elf on the Shelf will love showing off their new handmade bows! Once your handmade bows are done, the next day, cover bows all over all over your elf doll.

Decorating with Bows

Once you’ve made some bows, it’s time to decorate with them! The Elf on the Shelf can use wrapping paper bows or handmade bows to add a festive touch to any room.

You can use peppermint patterned washi tape and make your own Christmas tree on the wall. Instead of having a star on top of the tree and ornaments adorned throughout, add really cute bows like The Lumistella company.

Try tying bows around doorknobs, chair backs, or even the Scout Elf’s arms and legs. For an extra special touch, use glittery or patterned ribbon to make the bows stand out spelling fun words like the name. Alternatively, you can use bows to write a number as you countdown the days until Santa comes.

Don’t forget to take a photo of the little guy’s handiwork and share it with friends and family on social media like Scout Elves did.

Christmas Elf Wrapped in a Bow

For a fun and silly idea for elves, wrap the little guy up in a giant bow! To do this, first, make a large bow using a long piece of ribbon.

Then, carefully wrap the North Pole visitor in the ribbon, making sure to leave their face and arms free. The Christmas elf will look like a present waiting to be unwrapped, it is a fun way for The Elf on the Shelf to arrive.

If you have a pair of elves, try The Elf on the Shelf ideas for two elves – simply roll one doll up in ribbon.  If the Chrismtas visitor is supper tied up, leave a pair of kids’ scissors nearby so he/she can escape when they’re ready to get back to their mischief-making.

Conclusion

Well, that’s a wrap! In this article, we’ve explored some of the most creative ideas for Christmas elves using bows. From bow-ties to bow-wreaths, these ideas are sure to make your holiday friend stand out and bring joy to your household during the holiday season.

Elf Mates are adoptable elves that help Santa Claus bring back the true spirit of Christmas. The trio of Elf Mates are closely associated with everyone’s favorite The Elf on the Shelf, a children’s book that has become a cultural phenomenon. There are three Elf Mates: the Toy Maker, the Chef, and the Cobbler, each with a unique personality and mission to spread kindness and cheer during the holiday season. Let’s learn more about these Elf companions!

Elf Mates are a beloved Christmas tradition that has been gaining popularity in recent years. An Elf Mate is an adoptable elf that partners with children to help Santa Claus bring back the true spirit of Christmas. Armed with a magical golden heart and a special mission from St. Nick, each workshop elf proves they are Santa’s truest pals by reminding us all why it is better to give than to receive.

Elf Mates are closely associated with The Elf on the Shelf, a children’s book that tells the story of how Santa Claus sends a Scout Elf to watch over children during the Christmas season. The Elf on the Shelf has become a cultural phenomenon, with millions of families adopting the tradition of hiding elves in different places each day to create a sense of magic and excitement during the holiday season.

But guess what, these Elf dolls were not always associated with the Lumistella Company. In fact, these workshop elves first originated from Dollar General. They gained popularity quite quickly, and in true Elf adoption fashion, the CCA and B (aka the home of The Elf on the Shelf and Scout Elf) quickly adopted these lovely friends into their line-up of The Elf on the Shelf friends.

There are three Elf Mates: the Toy Maker, the Chef, and the Cobbler. Each Elf Mate has a unique personality and mission, but all three are united in their desire to spread kindness and cheer throughout the holiday season. The Toy Maker creates toys to donate to children in need, the Chef bakes treats to share with those who are less fortunate, and the Cobbler collects shoes and clothing to donate to those in need. Together, they remind us all that the true spirit of Christmas is about giving, not receiving.

I have a feeling that we will not be seeing the last of cute mates and this cute adorable trio. As these triplets gain even more popularity, you will begin to see the rise of other companions. This might include Baby Elves, more girls elves, elves of different races, or even the rumored new generation of Elf Mates…

This new generation of Elf companions, Enchanted Forest Elf Mates, are leaving the Enchanted Forest to help Santa share the secret of the true spirit of Christmas around the world—kindness and generosity to all! The Enchanted Forest Elf Mates are known for the magical heart on their collar, the swipe of color in their hair, and the glittery freckles on their cheeks! Be on the lookout!

Elf Mates & The Elf on the Shelf

elf on the shelf with elf mates

Elf Mates are a group of adoptable elves who partner with children to give Santa Claus a helping hand by bringing back the true spirit of Christmas. Along with The Elf on the Shelf and the Elf Pets, there’s a set of heroes who actively inspire kids through imaginative play! These elves are armed with a magical golden heart and a special mission from St. Nick, each Elf Mate proves they are Santa’s truest pals by reminding us all why it is better to give than to receive.

Elf Mates are designed to encourage kindness in children and remind them that the holiday season is not just about receiving gifts but also about giving and spreading joy to others through acts of kindness. Kindness Elves are a fun and interactive way for kids to learn about the true meaning of Christmas.

elf doll velcro elf hands

In addition to purpose, Elf Mates are different than Elf on the Shelf in that they are slightly smaller and can be touched. Elf Mates are about an inch smaller than Elf. Unlike Elf on the Shelf, Elf Mates come with velcro on their hands so Elf Mates’s hands easily connect. Elf on the Shelf does not come with velcro on their hands though you can use an Elf kit to add velco. Elf Mates are not wired.

The Three Elf Mates

Elf Mates are a group of three characters that help Santa Claus during the holiday season. They are Elves sent by Santa with helping hand ideas. The trio of elves are Santa’s helpers who inspire children to spread kindness and joy during the holiday season. Each Elf Mate has a unique personality and a special mission from St. Nick.

Here’s a brief overview of the original three Elf Mate friends:

Elf Mates Chef

The Elf Mates Chef helper knows the true way to the heart is through cooking up a dose of good cheer.  The Chef is a culinary genius who loves to cook and bake. In Fact, Chef Elf Mate is a jolly and fun-loving guy who inspires children to spread joy through cooking and baking. He inspires kids to share food with others by donating meals to those in need. Chef encourages children to share their favorite recipes with friends and family too. He uses food as a way to spread kindness and remind kids to give something to those who need something yummy.  The Elf Chef Mate is known for his delicious recipes and his ability to make any dish look and taste amazing.  Chef proves that food is not just nourishment for the body but also for the soul.

Elf Mates Toy Maker

The Elf Mates Toy Maker is a creative genius who loves to make toys. The toy maker is known for his incredible imagination and his ability to turn any idea into a toy. He is a creative and imaginative little fellow who inspires children to spread joy through play. The Toy Maker Elf Mate encourages children to share their toys with friends and family and to donate toys to those in need. With his magical golden heart, this creator proves that toys are not just objects but also a source of happiness and imagination.

Elf Mates Cobbler

The Elf Mates Cobbler is a kind and caring guy who encourages children to put themselves in other people’s shoes. He inspires kids to put themselves into others’ feelings, situations, and roles and recognize their struggles while also being grateful for what they have – an excellent reminder for the Thanksgiving season when Scout Elf returns.  The cobbler friend reminds us to be grateful for what we have and to share warmth with others by donating shoes, clothing, and other essential items to those in need. With his magical golden heart, the Cobbler proves that it is better to give than to receive. The Cobbler Elf Mate is a kind soul who loves to help others.

Each Elf Mate comes with a magical golden heart and a special mission from St. Nick. They prove that they are Santa’s truest pals by reminding us all why it is better to give than to receive. Each friend from the trio has a unique mission to help Santa Claus and inspire children to spread kindness and joy during the holiday season.

Elf Mates in Literature and Media

trio of elf dolls called elf mates

In addition to the trio of elf dolls, you might have a desire to extend the lessons and ideas through media like books and film.

Elf Mates in Books

Elf Mates have been featured in several books that encourage kindness and good deeds. One such book is “Elf Mates: The Story of Elf Mates,” which explains how Elf Mates help Santa by inspiring acts of kindness and cheer. The elf book is an enchanting 16-page soft-cover book that is perfect for children. It comes with a single or three-pack bundle that includes all three Elf Mates (Chef, Toy Maker, and Cobbler).

Elf Mates in Films

As of right now, Elf Mates have not been featured in films. You can see a list of The Elf on the Shelf Characters featured in films.

Overall, Elf Mates are beloved characters in literature and media that encourage kindness and good deeds so they would be excellent for film: the non-Hollywood type! Whether in books or films, Elf Mates remind us all of the true spirit of Christmas and the importance of giving to others.

Misconceptions About Elf Mates

who are Elf Mates three dolls for christmas

Elf Mates are often misunderstood, and there are several misconceptions about them that need to be cleared up. Here are some of the most common misconceptions about Elf Mates:

Misconception #1: Elf Mates are just like The Elf on the Shelf

Many people assume that Elf Mates are just like The Elf on the Shelf, but this isn’t true. While both are elves that help Santa Claus, Elf Mates have their own unique personalities and missions. Elf Mates are adoptable elves who partner with children to give Santa Claus a helping hand by bringing back the true spirit of Christmas. Armed with a magical golden heart and a special mission from St. Nick, each Elf Mate proves they are Santa’s truest pals by reminding us all why it is better to give than to receive. You can also touch these elves.

Misconception #2: Elf Mates are only for children

Another common misconception about Elf Mates is that they are only for children. While Elf Mates are designed to partner with children, they can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Elf Mates encourage kindness, generosity, and the true spirit of Christmas, which are values that everyone can appreciate.

Misconception #3: Elf Mates are just another toy

Some people think that Elf Mates are just another toy, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Elf Mates are more than just a toy – they are a symbol of the true spirit of Christmas. Elf Mates encourage children (and adults) to keep the spirit of the season and to give back to their communities. They are a reminder that the true meaning of Christmas is not about receiving gifts, but about giving to others.

So Why Choose Elf Mates?

Elf Mates are magical creatures that are sent by Santa Claus to partner with children and help them bring back the true spirit of Christmas. Armed with a magical golden heart and a special mission from St. Nick, each Elf Mate proves they are Santa’s truest pals by reminding us all why it is better to give than to receive.

Unlike Elf on the Shelf, this set of multiple elves do good: They aren’t up to mischief. They don’t pull many pranks. They never hide.

Elf Mates are more than just toys. They are companions that inspire acts of kindness and cheer. They are huggable and playable, and they come in different professions such as Chef, Toy Maker, and Cobbler. Each Elf Mate has a unique personality and role in Santa’s workshop. They can be purchased in single sets or sets of three.

Elf Mates are not just for Christmas. If you want, these Christmas visitors can be enjoyed all year round and can help children develop important values such as kindness, generosity, and responsibility. They are a fun and interactive way to teach children about the true meaning of Christmas and the importance of giving back to others.

Embrace the cherished Christmas tradition of The Elf on the Shelf, which revolves around a captivating storybook and an adorable Scout Elf doll. This enchanting book, filled with poetic rhymes, unveils the purpose behind the Scout Elf’s visits.

Like clockwork, the little red visitor graces our homes each Thanksgiving and embarks on a nightly journey to and from the North Pole. Every morning, the thrill lies in discovering the Scout Elf in a brand-new, imaginative hiding spot within the house. From peeking out of the refrigerator to fishing in the sink, leaving mirror messages, or swinging from the lights, the North Pole Visitor’s antics never cease to amuse. But remember, there’s a cardinal rule to uphold: never touch the Scout Elf, for it’s the key to preserving their Christmas magic! Each family has the privilege of christening their very own Scout Elf with a special name. Finally, as Christmas Eve dawns, these loyal Scout Elves bid us farewell, returning to their North Pole workshop alongside Santa, awaiting their next wondrous adventure
