Don’t forget our favorite Pumpkin Spiced Popcorn Balls with FREE printable Gift Tag.

Wait…What? Together? Yummy, salty popcorn, chocolate? AND marshmallows? Yes please. What a yummy way to celebrate the holidays! This would be and amazing snack after a hard day of shopping. Or while decking the halls, the tree, etc. I think if the Elf on The Shelf left a bag of this after a visit he would definitely gain some popularity and maybe even some good behavior? If the kiddos need a treat to bring in for the class Christmas party this would be darling in little gift bags, or maybe in a mug for teacher?

Ingredients:

  • 12 cups popped popcorn
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 2 hot cocoa packets
  • 10 oz. White chocolate chips, melting disks, or almond bark

Optional Ingredient:

  • milk or dark chocolate

Directions:

  1. Pop your popcorn anyway you like; on the stove, in an air popper or in your microwave. Place in a large bowl.
  2. Melt white chocolate in a double boiler or in your microwave, stirring frequently to make sure chocolate is smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Drizzle all over popcorn, stirring with a large wooden spoon to coat well.
  4. Sprinkle cocoa all over popcorn, stirring to coat again.
  5. Stir in marshmallows.
  6. Spread popcorn out on a cookie sheet to allow chocolate to set up.
  7. If desired drizzle additional white or dark chocolate over the top of popcorn.
  8. Store in an airtight container.

These adorable and delicious gingerbread flavored popcorn balls are a terrific way to shuffle in the holiday season I don’t think there is a flavor that tastes more like Christmas than gingerbread! Create a great twist on a traditional favorite, the popcorn ball, by adding in gingerbread flavor. Tuck a few into your mailbox for the mailman or drop some off to a neighbor with a little note!

Ready for the holiday season, looking for something fun and frugal to gift your friends and family. Pay attention to the Series 4  Days of 4 Popcorn Recipes!

Day 1: Cinnamon Bun Popcorn Recipe
Day 2: Hot Chocolate Popcorn Recipe
Day 3: Gingerbread Popcorn Balls Recipe
Day 4: Peppermint White Chocolate Popcorn Recipe

Don’t forget our favorite Pumpkin Spiced Popcorn Balls with FREE printable Gift Tag.

This yummy popcorn is a fantastic winter treat! Perfect with hot cocoa for a snack while driving around looking at lights, in your pj’s watching Christmas movies, or while decorating the Christmas tree. It would be fabulous packaged up to pass out to carolers, teachers, friends, family, kids, or as a thoughtful homemade gift for your mailman or stylist. If peppermint puts you in the mood for Christmas this combo will put it over the top! Vary the ingredients to create a combo that you and your family will love, use dark or milk chocolate instead of or in addition to white chocolate for a really decadent treat.

Ingredients:

  • 10 cups popped popcorn
  • 10 oz. White chocolate
  • 1 tsp. Peppermint extract
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ cup crushed peppermints or candy canes
  • 1 tsp. Coconut or canola oil

Directions:

  1. Crush candy canes. You can chop by hand but you will get better, and more consistent results from a small chopper or food processor.
  2. Pop your popcorn via your preferred method; stove top, air popped or microwave.
  3. Melt chocolate in a double boiler or in microwave, stirring frequently to make it smooth, stir in oil to create a very soft and smooth consistency. Add peppermint extract.
  4. Place popcorn in a large bowl, drizzled melted chocolate all over popcorn and toss with 2 large spoons to coat well. Toss in crushed peppermint before chocolate sets.
  5. Spread popcorn out on a cookie sheet lined with foil and allow chocolate to set. If your impatient (like me) you can put it in the fridge to set quicker.
  6. When serving popcorn you can sprinkle a bit more crushed peppermint on top for added crunch, flavor, and decoration.

I know you all have loved the Food Crafts We have been creating on Frugal Coupon Living. From Back to School Lunches, to Frankenstein Treats, to yummy Pumpkin Spiced Frappuccinos, I am so excited to share with you a Children’s Food Craft perfect for the Thanksgiving break with you and your little ones!

I have such a hard time keeping my mouth shut, but a few weeks ago I, Ashley, was able to tape and share some of these Turkey Food Crafts on the Rachael Ray Show. Airing on Tuesday 11/26/13, be sure to check your local listing and set your DVRs because you will not want to miss these fun activities for your little ones. Get ready to reuse your leftover Halloween Candy to create oodles of fun and laughter this Thanksgiving break!

Grab the Following Recipes:

Turkey Sugar Cookies (Pin it to Pinterest)

This recipe is the most simplistic. Make the attached sugar cookie recipe or grab a pre-made store brand. Use icing as glue and create decadent feathers with candy corn.

Turkey Nutter Butter Cookies (Pin it to Pinterest)

So far the most popular Thanksgiving Food Craft, the flexibility of this food craft is nice. How far you want to go with this cookie is up to you. You can have a stand up turkey or a lay down turkey instead.  Add left over Halloween candy to spruce up the design or keep it simplistic with icing and candy corn.

Rolo Pilgram Hats (Pin it to Pinterest)

On the show we made these with chocolate peanut butter cups but you can also do with caramel cups. Pick up store bought frosted fudge cookies and glue on the top of the hat to make the perfect little treat for your little Pilgrim.

Chocolate Covered Oreo Turkeys (Pin it to Pinterest)

This turkey craft is likely for experienced and steady of hands baker. Mix colors and create bright feathers on your Oreo Turkey using a pretzel as a template. Again, how little or how much of the activity and design you want to do is up to you.

What is Elf on the Shelf?

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf‘s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD
