Christmas Gift Ideas for Your Neighbors, Co-Workers, Teachers and Friends. Creative easy gifts that require a gift tag and done!

Christmas Gift Ideas for Your Neighbors

Christmas Gift Ideas for Your Neighbors, Co-Workers, and Friends

Three and a half years I was displaced from Florida to the Washington, D.C. area.  I was no longer able call on my parents or friends of over thirty years. This becomes especially hard during emergencies and times I found myself in a bind. For example, my son tripped over his own two feet and hit his head on his train table. Immediately his eyebrow was bleeding and it was evident he had a cut about the size of one centimeter. Blood doesn’t bother me, but my first aid kit was not prepared, and I found myself trapped in a situation of needed to get the two older girls to school. For years, with his two older sisters, I carried Barbie band-aids that took care of runny noses or minor blood-less ouchies. I have three boys under the age of two, so I am just beginning to see the things I will need around the house that my empty first aid kit did not have. I digress…

Anyways, with his fall I began to see I needed help. All five kids were home and I was not in a place to take the girls to school as I had to take care of my hurting boy. My neighbor immediately jumped in and brought the girls to school while I could solve fixing his eye with a first aid kit full of barbie bandages.

My neighbors are amazing. I live in a melting pot of an area of our country. Every one of my neighbors is from a different country, but we all have come together as displaced people who help one another. None of us have family who can drop everything and help, thus, we all rely on each other. Whether you have this friendly neighborhood community or not, chances are you have some sort of relationship with your neighbor. If like me, they are close enough to think of over the holiday season, consider some of these Christmas Gift Ideas for Your Neighbors.

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD.

‘Tis the season for giving. These Free Printable Gift Tags for Christmas will step-up your present game. Adorable personalized gift tags, gift tags for kids and adults!

Free Printable Gift Tags for Christmas

Truthfully, this round-up was a little bit difficult. Maybe people are not using gift tags anymore on presents (are you?) Whether people are using labels or not, the internet didn’t have as many “Pinterest Worthy” gift tags as I would have assumed.

I have to admit, I don’t use gift tags often. In fact, the way I label the kids presents from Santa is with photo stickers I pick up from Shutterfly. I just add a photo of them this year, choose a different color frame for each child, and then write their name on the label. This is how they identify which gift is for them on Christmas morning.

Printable Gift Tags Personalized

These Shutterfly photo stickers come in a back of 24, which is always enough to get me through Santa’s gifts. They are $6.99 but often go on sale for much less.

Our White Christmas Gift Tag is the perfect hostess or neighbor gift. “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas but if the white runs out, I’ll drink the red!”

I personally love expensive wrapping paper but I am not always willing to buy it myself. Gift something unique and useful with this Wrapping Paper Christmas Gift Tag.

I gave this to my bible study girls and Awana leaders last year. This Punny Bible Study Christmas Gift Tag if a thoughtful gift to gift with a paper towel roll.

Humphrey’s First Christmas – MUST HAVE CHRISTMAS BOOK!

Humprehy’s First Christmas Christmas Book for Kids. This is a MUST HAVE CHRISTMAS READ. You will love this story of Humphrey and Baby Jesus.

humpherys-first-christmas

This seriously is our FAVORITE book during the holiday season. It is about a precious little camel named Humphrey who takes the long journey to visit Baby Jesus.

Right now on Amazon you can get Humphrey’s First Christmas for as low as $7.99.

A beautifully illustrated Christmas story presented in paperback for the first time. We’ve all heard the story of the three wise men who brought their gifts to Baby Jesus. But what about the camels who carried them? Here is the story of Humphrey the camel and his long, cold journey to Bethlehem. Humphrey has lost his blanket and schemes to acquire a new one. When the party reaches its destination, Humphrey is so drawn to the love surrounding Baby Jesus that he finds himself selflessly giving his new blanket to the Christ child. Carol Heyer’s rich acrylic paintings showcase the quirkiness of the camel and add humor to the story. Here is a book that both entertains and informs without ever straying from the meaning of the holiday.

I shared our book on Instagram (below). You can see how amazing the pictures are – actually my photographs don’t do it justice. This is a book you will hand down for generations, year after year. This is a MUST HAVE CHRISTMAS BOOK!

Less is the new more!

Daily Declutter Challenge

Girl, I got your back. As a mother of five, I have learned to swim in the chaos of motherhood. By swim, I mean tread water. (At least, I am not drowning, right?!) Speaking of drowning, some things I find I am drowning in is clutter. Boxes, stacked piles of mail, broken and mis-matched toys, single socks (right?!), clothes that are too small, clothes that are dirty – it’s piles and piles of “stuff!”

I accepted the KonMari Challenge with Dollar Store Solutions, but the clutter seemed to return. That is why I have to pull out a Monthly Declutter Challenge a few times a year. This spreads out my to-do list, gives me direction for cleaning up our home, and makes the task fun!

Declutter Tips, Tricks & Solutions

Initially, this Declutter Your Home Checklist seems very daunting. We have some declutter tips and hacks for your challenge to keep your sanity.

Where can I sell my stuff?

Want to make a few dollars? We have a few places you can sell your stuff when declutting. Two places are my favorite. First, Facebook Marketplace is great in my area and typically I make back close to the price I paid on many name brand items. I also like to send my kids clothes to Thread Up (get $10 credit and/or request a ThredUp Clean Out Kit bag.) This allows me to earn money on clothes that no longer fit and buy new consignment clothes that do fit. Lastly, take a look at Decluttr to buy and sell technology.

What if I skip a day on the Challenge?

Things come up, I get it. If you can avoid skipping a day, please do. It can be hard to catch up having to do 4 days of cleaning on Day 31. If  you do find you missed a day, move on and come back to that day at the end of the challenge.

What if the 31-Day Challenge is not enough?

Repeat the process the next month. In fact, if you are a real neat freak you can do this challenge every month, for 12 months. Just do a little bit each day!

How often do you do this Declutter Challenge?

I try to adopt the challenge twice a year. Typically January after the chaos of Christmas and then again in late spring/early summer as the end of the school year approaches. If I am doing extra well (or would it be extra bad?), I take on this challenge again at the start of the school year.

I work full time, how can I declutter my house quickly?

Honestly, this is a process. There is no way to tackle all of this in one day, but you can group days or take the challenge on a few weekend. If you are doing it day by day, some of these days require more time than others. For example, I can clean my junk drawer in a few minutes but my Kitchen Cupboards might take a few hours on Saturday. Skip more challenging days and save them for the weekend. Use the weekdays to tackle smaller tasks.
