So if you don’t know, I am pregnant and already dreaming about loosing this third baby “baby weight.” I will have my son full time during the day so it was important to find a “gym” that was affordable, fun, and incorporated my little man. Sometimes your best gym is home. It’s free, it’s convenient, and it’s flexible (even if you are not!) Enjoy these Home Workout Hacks WITH your baby – and if he/she is sleeping, you can even do them without!

American Girl Breakfast

If you have an American Girl or even a similar off brand you know how expensive the accessories can be! I am almost ashamed to admit that I have paid more for doll clothes and accessories than I pay for my daughters! But there are many items you can make very inexpensively that are just as cute or even cuter than anything you can find in the store..food happens to be one of them. The girls and I love using a few craft items to create frugal food for the dolls. Today I am bringing you a simple tutorial for an American Girl Breakfast in Bed that you can make in about 15 minutes with your child.  Hours of pretend fun are ahead!

Supplies:

  • Craft Foam – white, yellow, tan, brown, burgundy.
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue/Glue Gun
  • Hole Punch
  • Small Bottle Cap – about half dollar size

Directions:

To make this a totally kid friendly craft project you can use craft glue instead of hot glue.

Pancakes – Trace 2 or 3 (or as many as you want) round bottle cap shapes onto tan craft foam, cut pieces out, apply hot glue between each and layer together. Cut a small piece of brown into a syrup puddle shape glue to the top. Cut a small square of yellow and secure to the top of syrup for your butter.

Fried Eggs – Cut random white blobs from foam about the size of the end of your thumb. Use a hole punch to make the yolk with a piece of yellow foam, glue to center.

Bacon – Cut wavy strips from tan craft foam about ¾” long and ¼” wide, repeat with burgundy foam but make it only b ⅛” wide, secure to the top of tan piece.

Make as many sets as you like and toss them on a doll plate for loads of fun and play!

How to Connect as a College Freshman

How to Connect as a College Freshman

Pint to Pinterest

College can be a scary time in your life. From leaving home and meeting new people to becoming an adult and having responsibilities life is changing and pulling you along with it. However, as life changes it’s still important to make connections, build relationships, and enjoy life around you. Here are some great ways to get connected in college:

Volunteer in the Community

Organizations, parks, and community outreach programs are always seeking out healthy college students to volunteer in the community. This is a great way to meet other college students with like minds. If you want to volunteer and make other friends who share your love for others, talk to your advisor about ways you can volunteer in the community.

Go to Sports Events

Whether you are a sports fan or not, sports events are great ways to meet new people. Trust me, there will be some other poor soul who got dragged to the game and needs someone to hang with. Break out of your comfort zone and stop by track events, basketball games, soccer games, and football games. You are sure to find various people to chat with.

Get Involved in School Activities

It is always important to go to class and study, but if you don’t get out there, you won’t meet anyone new. If you like drama, get involved in the drama club. If you like to study, join a study group. Look on billboards, in the registrar office, and throughout campus for opportunities to get involved in activities you enjoy.

Join a Church or Religious Organization

Not all colleges offer religious opportunities. If you are religious, look out into the city for places of worship. Join a church that fits your views and get involved. College is the time to step out in the world and find what makes you happy.

Get Involved in Rushing

Don’t know what rushing is? Well, you’re not the only college student that doesn’t know. Rushing is the first step of deciding whether or not you want to be in a fraternity or sorority. Rush week is the week you get involved in going to parties or social opportunities in which you can learn more about them or you can just enjoy the social event by socializing with others. If you are really interested in a fraternity or sorority, here are a few things to look into:

  • Ask about the history of the sorority or fraternity.
  • Find out if they participate in any community service events.
  • Find out the day to day operations of the fraternity or sorority.
  • Find out if they share the same interests or hobbies as you do.
  • Determine the cost of housing, food, and commitments.
  • You may, also, want to find out about any and all initiation requirements upon agreeing.

I love a good savory meal. I am not sure there are many people who would not agree with me on that. I also love a meal that brings great flavors but doesn’t take many hours for me to make on a week night. The quicker the better.

Recently I worked with Cans Get You Cooking and was inspired by their “Cantry” pantry focus. How many times is your family ready for dinner and you have no idea where to begin? Did you know this fact? 60% of moms think that coming up with dinner ideas is more difficult than getting their children to go to bed on time. This is true for me! With canned food staples like canned fruits, veggies, broth and sauces on-hand, you can easily make it a Cantry night! Cans seal in foods’ natural goodness and nutrition so it’s there for you any time. Not only are they available and fresh, but they cut the prep process by a lot – that speaks volumes to me!

Asian-Pineapple-Meatballs-Recipe-Ingredients-Frugal-Coupon-Living

This Asian Dinner Entree is a big hit. Using 4 canned ingredients, meatballs, and brown sugar and sauce this meal is basically a dump, heat, and eat dinner recipe. It’s simple and will become part of the regular dinner routine.

Canned foods can be a hallmark of a healthy diet. An analysis of NPD data shows that adults and children who ate 6+ canned food items over two weeks were more likely to meet or exceed their recommended daily allowance for 17 essential nutrients than those who ate 1-2 canned food items over the same two-week period. To me, it can be as easy as eating a healthy rounded diet at home or resorting to takeout or go out to eat because I don’t have the ingredients on-hand to make dinner! If I didn’t have the above ingredients at home, it would only be a quick 15 minute run to the store and plenty of money saved in the store over running to my nearest restaurant trying to fill an entire family’s likes and tastes. That adds up, on both calories and price!
