Teacup Mother’s Day Card Craft

Tea Cup Mother's Day Card Craft

Who doesn’t love the chance to celebrate Mom? (And as a mom myself, of course I’m totally unbiased!) Regardless of how much I love having a special day dedicated to moms everywhere, kids get so excited to express their appreciation and love for their moms, too. If your house’s day-to-day activities get as hectic as mine do, you’ll know there’s just not much time typically to stop and say how much we appreciate each other.

I know you all love our Mother’s Day resources as much as I love the holiday — one of our more popular posts is our Mother’s Day Preschool Crafts.  Since you all loved those curated Mother’s Day craft ideas, we wanted to come up with something creative and craft our own Mother’s Day Card Craft! This Teacup Mother’s Day Card Craft is for a tea-rrific mom! I mean, whose mom doesn’t love relaxing with a hot cup of tea? Best of all, it’s simple and easy for the kids to create on their own or with Dad’s supervision. This Mother’s Day Card Craft uses upcycled egg cartons, scrapbook paper, and pipe cleaners. Even with it’s humble supplies, this Mother’s Day card for kids looks so impressive. Mom is sure to appreciate all the crafting work that goes into this special Mother’s Day craft!

Be sure to pick up our favorite tea bags! We think your mom will love them too – they make an amazing gift and perfect accompaniment to this Mother’s Day card craft!

Want to really take the tea theme to the next level on Mother’s Day? Have a Beau-TEA-ful Mother’s Day incorporating some of these Tea Party Ideas! Throw Mom a tea party with beautiful decorations, table settings, and tasty treats to make her day truly special.

Supplies:

  • 1 Cardboard Egg Carton
  • Watercolor Paints
  • 1 Sheet White Cardstock Paper
  • 2 Sheets Patterned or Colored Paper (scrapbook paper)
  • 1 White Pipe Cleaner
  • 2 Pipe Cleaners, any color
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • 2 Tea Bags
  •  Scissors

Directions:

1. First, cut 2 pieces of cardstock about 4”x 6” in size and cut 2 pieces of patterned/colored paper about 3”x 5” in size. We used white card stock and colored scrapbook paper.

2. When you have your paper cut, center each piece of patterned paper on top of each white piece, and glue down on them. These are your two cards.

3. Grab your egg carton. Use the bottom part of the egg carton and cut 2 of the egg holders from the end of the egg carton. Cut off one side of each egg holder, making sure to leave the other 3 sides intact. When you lay it down on the flat cut off side, it will look like a little round cup.

4. Once your teacups are cut, use the watercolors to paint each little egg holder cup any color you choose, we used blue and purple. Let these dry for a few minutes.

5. While your tea cups are drying, cut 2 pieces of the white pipe cleaners each about 3” long. Cut 1 piece each of the colored pipe cleaners about 3” long. Twist a white piece with each colored piece so you now have 2 pieces that looked striped.

Gluing Tea Cups Mother's Day Card Craft

6. Make each one into a small handle shape and glue each one to the egg holder cups. I glued one end on the inside top, and the other end to the outside so they look like cup handles.

7. Glue each teacup with the flat cutout side down onto the cards. Put one of the tea bags into each little cup and let the string dangle over it.

These make cute cards for Mother’s Day or anytime! They would be SO fun for a tea party, too!

This Chicken, Squash & Spinach Keto Casserole is a tasty low-carb dinner with everyone’s Keto favorite – Parmesan cheese! Yes, please!

Chicken, Squash & Spinach Keto Casserole

Chicken, Squash & Spinach Keto Casserole

We love the introduction of spaghetti squash and rice cauliflower. I understand the veggies have been around a long time, but it is so nice to have an option to substitute for high-carbohydrate foods such as white rice. If you love csseroles, this low-carb dinner does not disappoint.  This Chicken, Squash & Spinach Keto Casserole incorporates everyone’s keto favorite – cheese!

According to Healthline.com, a ketogenic diet (often termed keto) is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and low-carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake, and replacing it with fat. The reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis.

A Keto diet can be very flavorful, you really are not limited on taste but you are limited on some foods. In short, you should eat REAL food such as meat, eggs, nuts, yogurt, vegetables and occasionally some fruits. Apart from the obvious limitation of carbohydrates in foods, it is also recommended to avoid processed food and any food that may contain preservatives and colorings. Again, low-carb, high-fat!

Glamping Ideas for the Ultimate Camping Trip for the Girls! Glamping: where stunning nature meets modern luxury.

Glamping Ideas for the Girls!

If I get a chance to get away with the girls, sleeping arrangements are often more like a 4/5 start hotel over an outdoor camping facility. I have always wanted to get one with nature, but I really enjoy the comfort of a nice bed and the enjoyment of a temperature controlled environment.  Since camping was always polyester tents and sand in my toes, and bed, I never really considered it. With the evolution of glamping, camping has one again peaked my interest!

If you have always desired a camping trip but feared loosing your comforts of electricity and down comforters, take a look at these Glamping Ideas for your next trip with the girls! Glamping is doing things outside of your comfort zone, while not straying too far!

Enjoy this Thanks a Latte Printable. This makes an adorable Starbucks Gift Card Tag. Toss in a clear coffee cup and gift to a teacher for teacher appreciation week. Also great for a coach, neighbor or friend!

Thanks A Latte Coffee Gift Tag Printables

Thanks A Latte Printable

I taught for years before having my first child. If you are a parent or a teacher, you know during the year often sweet sentiments are gifted. They can be something as small as a thank you note or something as large as a gift card. My favorite “gifts” were small muffins or candy bars sent in or even a sweet coffee delivered to school with the child. For me, it was the little things that said a lot.

We created this adorable “thanks a latte” printable. Send in with a Starbucks Gift Card and use for teacher appreciation week, the end of the school year or just a Thankful Thursday gift idea!

Do you have someone else to thank? This gift tag goes beyond Teacher Appreciation Week. Share with neighbor, friend, or coach. We gifted this to our soccer coaches last spring and they were a hit!

Only a few supplies are needed to create the most adorable gift with a Starbucks Gift Card gift tag.

  • “Thanks a Latte” Printable
  • Starbucks Gift Card
  • Clear Disposable Coffee Cup
  • Crinkle Cut Paper (we used green)
  • White Cardstock
  • Ribbon (we used green and gold)

You can print at home as well just have a printer and printer ink on hand.

I picked up a Frappuccino cup at Starbucks when I got my gift card. Inside my cup, I put my Starbucks gift card and green crinkle cut paper, though I think brown crinkle cut paper could be cute too since it looks like coffee. Maybe top with white crinkle cut paper for the foam!

Tie off with a cute bow. We love burlap ribbon with wire (to shape the bow) otherwise green ribbon is cute too.

Teacher Coffee Gift Tag with No Gift Card

Even if you can’t afford a gift card, have your child draw a cute little cup of coffee and attach this sweet note of appreciation. Hand written thoughts, mean a lot! Often more than a gift card!

Another option is when you brew your own at home in the morning, poor and extra cup for the teacher and send it in a disposable coffee cup with your child to school. Attach this sweet note. Going the extra mile or showing a little bit of thanks, doesn’t have to cost you a lot.

Teacher Appreciation Gift Tag Set

Before you go on, take a look at this! Solve an entire year of gifts with this Teacher Appreciation Gift Tags set. Included in this set are 12 months of gift tags. Each gift tag can be paired with a small low-cost gift just to show an appreciation of thanks.

The Thanks A Latte Gift Tag is included in this set. From coffee to chocolate bars, these Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas can be used the entire school year!

PLEASE repin it for others to enjoy on Pinterest. Share HERE. Not required, but I would love if you would share images of your gifts on “Tried It” on Pinterest

Gardening Hacks and Tips

Gardening Hacks and Tips for the Wannabe Gardener

Guys, I have always wanted to be able to say I have a green thumb. But to be honest, I’ve never been very successful with my gardening attempts. No matter how much I want a dream yard with a beautiful garden, I just can’t find the motivation or my black thumb gets in the way. We can’t all be gardening experts, but there are some amazing gardening hacks out there that make it a little easier for all of my black thumbs!

Recently, we were lucky enough to move into a new home with the most beautiful and spacious yard. Even more, the previous owners were gardeners, so the yard was in amazing shape when we purchased it. I thought that it shouldn’t be too hard to keep up their amazing gardening work. Boy, was I wrong!

As time went on after we purchased our home, I quickly realized that it wouldn’t be as easy as I thought. The weeds came in quickly, and while I wanted to restore the yard to its former glory, I had no clue where to start. I had a hard time distinguishing the difference between what was supposed to stay and what was supposed to head straight to the trash. Needless to say, I needed a LOT of help from my friends on the internet.

How do you make a garden more attractive?

When you boil it down to the basics, attractive gardens have plenty of well-tended plants, controlled weeds, and the perfect decorative touches. If I learned one thing from these DIY gardening hacks, it’s that you don’t have to spend a ton of money or hire a professional to make your garden look its best. I’ve spent a lot of time gathering these DIY gardening hacks, so I figured I should share my findings with all of you! After making your way through these gardening hacks, I hope you will leave with the inspiration to try some out and turn that thumb green. Good luck out there, and happy gardening!

Gnome Cookies – Inspired by Gnomeo & Juliet, this Gnomes Garden Craft is fun for a garden party or afternoon kids food craft for the kids! Enjoy.

Gnome Cookies

Gnome Cookies

Did you catch the movie Gnomeo and Juliet? If so, you might find gnomes as adorable as our family. The movie is basically a creative twist on the classic Shakespeare tale. Two young garden gnomes, Gnomeo and Juliet, try to avoid tragedy and find lasting happiness together when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors.

If you enjoyed this movie, be on the look out for Sherlock Gnomes. When the gnomes go missing, there’s only one gnome for the job. This fun mystery is released in theaters on March 23, 2018.

Before kitting the theater or perhaps after you enjoy the show, make this adorable Gnome Cookies. If you don’t make them to go along with the movie, they are also fun for a garden party!

Enjoy!

Lovevery Play Mat Review – Playtime With Purpose. Educational play products and baby toys that designed by child development experts for stage-based learning.

Lovevery Play Mat | Playtime With Purpose

Shopping for a baby is hard. Babies don’t require much beyond food, warm clothing, diapers, and a bed. There have been a few times I have wondered how to shop for my little ones at a holiday that was pretty close to birth. If investing in something for your child’s first year, take a look at the Lovevery Baby Activity Mat. This sweet gift not only invests in your child’s first year, it invests in your child’s development which invests in a lifetime. This mat has years of play in one box!

The Lovevery Baby Play Mat is designed by child development experts for fun and growth at every stage. It is eco-friendly, non-toxic, and is grounded in science for playtime with purpose.  We had a play gym with our last baby, but when finding something for the twins, I wanted to to find something large enough for them both but also a mat that focused on developmental milestones.

The mat was just that, large. You can see it easily fits Henry (twin A) and Elijah our toddler. The packaging was very thoughtful. Not only was it adorable, it was very easy to put together.   I really appreciate the FSC-certified wooden structure. It makes the piece very solid so I can trust (to an extent) my older son around the younger boy. The structure is sturdy meaning he can lean on it and it isn’t going to collapse. It can easily be broken down as well for storage or moving purposes.

The mat is also intuitive. This play Gym is designed by experts for your baby’s developing brain. The fabrics are soft and colorful – very aesthetically pleasing. The mat comes with toys as well as cards. One of our favorite feature are the gym’s activity cards. We used them for our 15 month old to identify parts of the face but we also used the black and white cards for the 8 week old twins as their eye site develops. It was amazing how they both tracked and focused on the cards. (You can see the video of Max above.)

We use our play gym at the very beginning of the day. Their brains are well rested and they are ready for tummy and back time. The mat is incredibly soft and great for room to roll over and move. I have placed all three babies on the spacious mat, though I usually spend time holding one while the other two play.

Each edge of the mat has a purpose for your child.  On the mat, there are five development zones that reveal or conceal to prevent over stimulation and promote brain and motor skill development:

  • Learning to focus
  • Making sounds
  • How things feel
  • Hiding and finding
  • Exploring colors

The play gym comes with…

  • The Play Guide – 24 stage-based play activities and ideas for fun stage-based play from newborn through 12+ months.
  • BPA-free Montessori organic ball & teether
  • Sustainable wood batting toy designed for grasping, mouthing and passing hand to hand.
  • 4 interchangeable learning card sets – black & white, body, objects, mirrors
  • Sustainably-sourced wooden legs for stability

You can also hold on to this toy for longer. The wooden legs can be covered and convert to a play fort or small tent, perfect for our toddler!  The Play Gym becomes a cozy space for your growing baby and their friends to play.

All in all, there were a few features that were very appealing. On this mat, I could focus on fun with my babies without worrying about things I need to do for their development; a book came along with some ideas! Another favorite feature, was the two minute setup and take down, no tools required.  You hear me mothers? no tools, no batteries!
