My inspiration when decorating the home always goes to Pinterest. Anyone else? I love a good ole home magazine, but sometimes the colors are extreme or the craft technique seems impossible. For this reason, I feel Pinterest gives me a great glimpse of real life and home of real people (yes, I do realize that behind that camera is a mound of dirty laundry and toys that are broken and never put away – well, at least I hope!) When it comes to Christmas Decor and the Christmas season I went after some Inspiring Christmas Mantels. I can do a great job with the tree, but sometimes other areas of the home get neglected and mantels are perfect even in homes with  young kids barbecue they are high and out of reach. They also are typically not a spot that would mess up the efficiency of day to day life. Happy Decorating!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…. maybe in the home, but not on the porch? The front porch is one of the last places I get to when decorating for the holidays. I think it is because it is often the last thing i look at and often requires a bit of cleaning/dusting before I can get started. We searched Christmas Decor high and low to find some of the best and most creative Christmas Porches to inspire you this holiday season.

Spruce greenery framing the front door? Check. This is a must when creating the perfect holiday curb appeal! | How to Decorate by Ballard Designs

Give lanterns some love by filing them with shiny ornaments and adorning with a black and white polka-dot bow and some greenery – how very Kate Spade of you! | Dimples and Tangles

Have you heard of an olive bucket? I hadn’t either but don’t they look so rustic and Christmas farm decor-ish? We love these Christmas trees in olive buckets welcoming guests at the front door! | On Sutton Place

If you really want some Southern Christmas Inspiration, take a look at this! Wreaths, wreaths, wreaths… a Christmas wreath on every window! | Mt Carmel Church Lane

I am a bit obsessed with boxwood wreaths and think they bring the perfect touch to a Christmas porch – especially when stacked in threes. Grab some plaid ribbon and make your own! | Remodelando La Casa

We love the basket of snowballs by the front door entrance. You can get the tutorial too with the free printable snowball sign. | Cottage in the Oaks

Have you ever thought to decorate with magnolia during the holidays? We love this Magnolia Christmas Wreath – it totally screams southern Christmas decor. | Style Your Senses

The Christmas Decor on this front porch is easy enough. Pull up your little red wagon, wrap boxes with butcher paper and a red bow, and light up a mini Christmas tree. | Talk of the House

Providing nighttime illumination is a great way to keep the spirit of the holidays alive. You don’t have to reinvent the wheels when it comes to decorating the porch and walkway… don’t forget paper lanterns. Timeless and classy. Fill each bag with sand and a flameless candle. | HomeBNC

Use your throws or indoor plaid blankets and create a place that is cozy and inviting. | Southern Seazons

So let’s bring it home with this precious rocking chair. Who says pillows can’t outside. We love the wooden crate of pinecones – frugal and fun. If we had to go with one of our favorite Christmas pillows, it would be this Christmas tree on a red car. | Home Stories A to Z

Canned Pumpkin Recipe Ideas for Fall

We recently moved to the “woods.” The woods meaning we have a lot of trees in our backyard but we still are three miles from the District of Columbia. I have been used to starting out a small kitchen window watching the leaves of the two trees I had in my backyard change colors. As soon as that first leave fell, all things pumpkin came forth. Who are we kidding, I was mixing pumpkin puree in recipes well before that leaf fell but it definitely aided in the fall recipe choices.

These fall recipes include some of your favorites using canned pumpkin puree. A collection of the best and easiest recipes for fall. Find healthy pumpkin recipes, savory pumpkin recipes, and sweet pumpkin recipes. Enjoy a warm pumpkin soup, twist up your favorite pasta dish, and blend a pumpkin puree smoothie for a healthy start to the day.

Give your family “pumpkin to talk about!” (full pun – wink!)
