“April Fools!”

Ahhh, that phrase is all too familiar! I love to love and I love to share jokes with my kids. My humor is always is fun and never meant to hurt or be at the expense of others.

April Fools’ Day is an annual celebration that takes place on April 1. Filled with playing practical jokes and shouting April fools at the unfortunate victims. This isn’t a new tradition. In fact, the first April Fools took pace in the 1500s when the C Gregorian calendar took over from the Julian calendar and the first day of the year moved from late March/early April to January 1st.

Grab the crayons for this easy coloring DIY Easter Card. This Cricut Craft Tutorial makes a cute classroom gift for classmates or use as a Sunday school gift for friends.

DIY Easter Card Cricut Craft Tutorial

When Valentine’s Day is behind you but you really want to spread the next holiday’s cheer, take a look at these DIY Easter Cards. An adorable Cricut Design Space craft perfect for a classroom of students or a Sunday school class of friends.  By choosing a Linetype image you create a Easter card perfect for coloring. Gift with Crayola Crayons.

The images in this post were free with Cricut Access in Cricut Design Space. What is Access? Unlimited choices. Jaw‑dropping benefits. 60,000+ images. Hundreds of fonts. An ever‑growing collection of ready‑to‑make projects. And deep, exclusive discounts on everything Cricut. It’s all yours for the taking, but only with a Cricut Access plan.

DIY Easter Card  Supplies:

  • 4 sheets 12 x 12 white cardstock (to make 8 cards)
  • 1 Colored  Cricut Fine Point Pen
  • 1  Black Cricut Fine Point Pen
  • Cricut Lightgrip Cutting Mat
  • Cricut Premium Fine Point Blade
  • Cricut Maker
  • Cricut Spatula & Scraper
  • Crayons – 2 per Easter card

There is a nice sale on the Cricut Fine Point Pens. I really like these tips, but buying them when they are on sale is the best time to buy them. The blade was the fine point tip and they do sell a 10 pack blade set on Amazon!

DIY Easter Card Cricut Directions:

First, open Cricut Design Space.

Click on projects and do a search for the Valentine Cricut Card Set (we are using that template to make an Easter card.)

When you find it, click on it and then click the customize button to open it in Design Space.

Duplicate one of the pre-made cards in Design Space by right clicking on it and selecting duplicate.

Now drag the duplicate card template to an empty spot on the mat.

Next, all of the text boxes need duplicated by right clicking on them and dragging them to the appropriate spot on the new card.

Double click on the text to change it to say what you want it to.

Once the text is in place, the next step is to click the image button and choose an image.

Once the image is in the right place, be sure you are still clicked on it so it is highlighted and go to the top of Design Space and look for the Linetype box. Change it from cut to draw. This will change how your image looks.

Once the new card is set up the way you want it, highlight the larger card area and look on the side of the screen where you can see the different layers.

Now you will notice a highlighted grey box, this is your main card. Right above it you will see two text areas under the group heading and the design you chose This is all under a main attach heading.

Highlight all of these sections then go to the bottom and click attach. If you have done this right, the entire card will move where you want it to in Design Space instead of just individual sections of the card.

Make as many cards or different designs as you want repeating the steps above.

When you are done, be sure to click save and name your project.

Now you are ready to click the make it button.

Once the design is opened and ready to make you might notice the cards are spread out over several mats. This is ok.

Place a piece of 12 x 12 white cardstock on the light grip Cricut Mat.

Press the continue button at the bottom of the screen.

The software will look for your Cricut Device and automatically find it.

Now you are going to be asked to choose the material. Click popular and choose either the 60 pound or 80 pound cardstock depending on which you are using.

Once you make your choice, the load tools and mat section will come up. It will tell you to load the Cricut Pen in clamp A and the fine point blade in Clamp C. Be sure to listen for the pen to click in place because if it does not, it will not work. The machine will still work however.

Once this is done, press the load/unload button on your machine to load the Cricut Mat with the paper on it.

As soon as the C on the machine begins to blink, press that button and the machine will begin to draw.

The machine will ask you to change ink colors once the text is done. This is optional. I chose to change the fine point pen to a different color (a brown named tawny).

Let the machine finish drawing the design then it will automatically start to cut the rest of the design. Just let the machine work.

Once the machine is done, the load/unload button will begin flashing. Press it to unload the mat.

Now use the Cricut Spatula to carefully loosen the design from the mat. Doing this keeps it from bending or rolling when you remove the cardstock from the mat.

Finally, once the design is removed, simply add two crayons to each card.

Fill out the to and from areas or let your kids do that.

Now the cards are ready to be given out for Easter. Receivers can use the crayons to color the card!

Thanks to you, I’m no fool! Adorable April Fools Day Teacher Printable for the classroom! Pair with popcorn, apples, cookies, or Smarties!

April Fool’s Teacher Gift Idea & Printable Gift Tags Tags

April Fool’s Day Teacher Printable

Thanks to you, I’m no fool! Happy April Fool’s Day!

April Fool’s Day Teacher Gift Tag + Digital Downloads
Do you remember the teacher that really impacted your life? I had a lot of great teachers growing up. Perhaps that is why I went into education, myself, in college.  One of the teachers that really made a difference was Mrs. Cassels. She taught me Art History and even took me to Europe for a month were we toured museums, cathedrals, ancient ruins and more.  Years later, I moved to Washington, D.C. and was able to wow my kids through the Smithsonian Art Museum where I shared my love of painting and sculptures with my kids – they were quite impressed with my knowledge and I was honestly impressed with all I had not forgotten!

April Fool’s Day Teacher Printable

On a regular basis, I try to show my kids’ teachers love. Usually it is through singing up for a thankful Thursday and sending in a candy bar or coffee. Other times it is during a holiday season and attaching a cute printable to a small gift. That was our intention with this freebie. Print your free No Fool gift tag and pair with caramel popcorn, cookies, an apple, or whatever you desire! Maybe a coffee will go far too – who doesn’t love caffeine?

I’m No Fool Supplies:

These are the supplies we used for our gifts, you can of course adapt to your own needs!

  • Red polka dot ribbon
  • Red and white twine
  • Apples
  • Cellophane goodie bags
  • Caramel popcorn
  • Mason jar
  • Chocolate chip cookies
  • No Fool Printable

April Fool’s Day Teacher Gift Tag + Digital Downloads
You will also need material to print your gift tag. Use white card stock or send online to Staples to pick up. (see below.)

I’m No Fool Directions:

Have fun with this free teacher printable gift tag. Your directions will differ from ours based on how you use the printable, but this is how we created our gifts.

We baked cookies according to package directions. Once they cooled we added them to clear cellophane bags and tied them off with red and white twine. We cut our gift tags out and whole punched them on the right side. We tied the bag to the twine with a bow.

We had some mason jars and added some tasty caramel popcorn to the inside. You can make your own or pick up a store bought brand – have you tried POPT! Caramel Buttery Popcorn?  Once your mason jar is full, screw on the lid and tie on a red polka dot bow. Add your gift tag before gifting.

Another great idea is a classic apple – an apple a day keeps the doctor away!  If you feel like an apple is too cliche, step it up by gifting a caramel or candy apple! Wrap in a clear cellophane bag and tie with a red and white polka dot bow. Don’t forget to add your no fool April Fool’s Day gift tag!

We have two versions of tags. One that says Happy Fool’s Day and one that does not.

Fish Dollar Store Valentine – You’re a Great Catch!

You’re a Great Catch! Easy to make fish Dollar Store Valentine with free printable. Made with everyone’s favorite Goldfish and Mike and Ike Candy.

Fish Dollar Store Valentine

We have given you a number of free Printables for Valentine’s Day including our favorite Hooked On You Bag Topper. We decided to go the fish direction again with this You’re a Great Catch Fish Dollar Store Valentine Craft. Grab all your supplies at the Dollar Store and make these cute valentines for your friends. You can use the printable for other things if this isn’t your cup of tea. We personally love these adorable Goldfish toys – how cute are those? Tie the printable with a Curling Ribbon as if the fish were hooked!

You’re a Great Catch Valentine Supplies:

  • 1 package of Goldfish Snack Crackers (we chose a package of rainbow colors)
  • 4 Sandwich Bags, fold-top
  • 1 Box Mike and Ike Candy
  • 4 Wooden Clothespins
  • 2 Blue Pipe Cleaners
  • 4 Tiny Rubber bands
  • 4 Googly Eyes, self-stick
  • 4 Small Sheets Foam, any colors
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Black Permanent Marker
  • Curling Ribbon
  • You’re A Great Catch Printable (see below)

You’re a Great Catch Valentine Directions:

First you will make your fish hooks. Cut the pipe cleaners in half and shape each one into a fish hook. Hot glue each one onto a clothespin.

Then, separate the goldfish by color, you should have 4 different colored piles. If you went with all orange Goldfish, you can skip this step.

Take one color of fish and put them into a baggie, push them towards the front side. Take a small amount of the candy and put them into the baggie towards the back corner. Take the small rubber band and tie it around the baggie so the goldfish and candy are separated. The goldfish are the fish body and the candy end is the tail. Repeat this step with the other 3 colors of goldfish.

Wrap the excess baggie top around the rubber band and clip a clothespin over it to hold it. It should look like a little fish with a fish hook on it.

Next, cut out 8 different color foam pieces for the fins. You’ll need 2 pieces for each fish. Have one fin be a little larger than the other and glue together to create one multi-color fin. Then hot glue each fin on towards the bottom of the fish.

Place 1 eye at the front end of the fish and draw on a smile with your marker.

While your eyes dry, print out You’re A Great Catch Printable (see below). Attach to the bag between the paperclip hook or tie on with ribbon.

Enjoy these fun little snack bags!
