The viral Tik Tok Hot Chocolate Bombs food trend began to take over the world and now they are all the rage and they have created the best seasonal gifts.

What are Hot Chocolate Bombs?

Hot Chocolate Bombs are hollow chocolate spheres. The hallow space if fill with cocoa powder and hot chocolate add-ins like marshmallows. Chocolate spheres are placed in a mug and hot milk is poured over the chocolate sphere creating the bomb effect where the chocolate melts, bursts open and all the goodies come out and float to the top. It’s a fun way to make hot chocolate with all the goodies including caramel, peanut butter, coffee, marshmallows, sprinkles, adult beverages and more.

What Size Mold for Hot Chocolate Bombs

When determining the size mold for your Hot Chocolate Bombs, you need to measure the cups you will be using. To be safe, you want to keep your silicon mold between 2 and 2.5 inches in diameter.  You can go smaller or larger, but too small limits the goodies you can put inside and too large means the cocoa bomb will not fit in your mug. The average 6 cavity Hot Cocoa Mold is about 2 inches.

How to Make Hot Chocolate Bombs without Mold

While Silicon Hot Chocolate Bombs Molds are the best for creating Hot Chocolate Bombs, it is possible to make a hot chocolate bomb without a mold.

To make Hot Chocolate Bombs with Ice Balls, follow these directions.

  1. Pour 1/4 water in a small glass bowl (like these.)
  2. Repeat this process for 2 to 4 glass bowls.
  3. Put a metal spoon in the 1/4 bowl of water.
  4. Put your glass bowls in the freezer for 5 hours (or until they freeze.)
  5. After your water is frozen, melt chocolate in a bowl following package directions.
  6. Hold on to your spoon and gently wiggle your frozen ice from the bowl and dip into your chocolate for about ten second.
  7. Lay your ice covered in chocolate on a plate for 2 – 3 minutes to harden.
  8. Follow these step for all of your ice spoons.
  9. After the chocolate has hardened, wiggle your chocolate off the ice creating the first half of your Hot Cocoa Bomb.
  10. Follow this step for all ice spoons.

Yield: one chocolate bomb for every 2 spoons.

Tip: Once your have taken your chocolate off ice, you can continue to dip your ice in chocolate making new molds until your ice begins to melt and loose shape.

Have you tried hot chocolate bombs? They are the newest food trend. We couldn’t stop with hot cocoa, we had to make the best coffee bombs too. Mixing chocolate and espresso, these mocha coffee bombs hit the sweet spot.

The Best Coffee Bombs

I remember the first time I was introduced to fusion food. It was the early 2000s and I recall going to a restaurant that mixed all sorts of flavors together. I do not recall the meal, very well, but I do remember the still water was $4 – isn’t that crazy? I also recall that the dessert was a hamburger made with chocolate and a donut. The restaurant didn’t make it long (perhaps because of the expensive water, perhaps because it was a little ahead of it’s time for the area I lived), but my love of fusion was built during that time.

When I think of coffee bombs and hot chocolate bombs, I think of fusion food. It is mixing something creative and unique and creates a beautiful display – sometimes too beautiful to enjoy or eat. Since I love chocolate drinks, but don’t drink hot chocolate enough, I wanted to create my love of chocolate with my love of a need – coffee.

What is a coffee bomb?

To first answer what is a coffee bomb, you must know what is a chocolate bomb? A coffee bomb, similar to a chocolate bomb, is a round hard shelled chocolate ball with instant coffee inside. When added to hot milk it breaks apart and creates a Mocha Coffee. Chocolate bombs and coffee bombs are fun recipes you can make at home that are excellent for gift giving.

If you love Coffee, you likely love Starbucks. Look at our Starbucks Inspired Chocolate Bombs too!

Mocha Coffee Bombs

With instant espresso powder and some hot milk, you can create your own chocolate latte bomb in a matter of seconds. The hardest part is the prep but we promise that taste is well worth the effort!

Makes 6 bombs
Prep time: 30 minutes
Setting time: 4 hours

Coffee Bomb Ingredients

  • 1 12-ounce package dark chocolate chips
  • 6 tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • ¼ cup white melting chocolate
  • 6 cups hot milk to make the bombs

In addition to the Mocha Coffee ingredients, you will also need a round silicone mold.

Gift giving?  Have these plastic chocolate bomb containers for gifting coffee chocolate bombs.

Coffee Bomb Recipe Directions

It is really easy to make Coffee Hot Chocolate Bombs. Follow the following directions to get your started.

First, place one 12-ounce package of dark chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave the dark chocolate chips in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate chips are fully melted.

Next, take a spoonful of melted chocolate inside a half circle of the silicone mold. Use the back of the spoon to spread the chocolate up the sides of the rubber mold. Continue this process until all the molds are coated (approximately 12 half circles).

Set the remaining melted chocolate aside for sealing and decorating the bombs.

Allow the chocolate in the molds to set completely, around 2 to 3 hours. You can speed up the process by placing the chocolate in the refrigerator.

When the chocolate is set, remove each of the chocolate pieces from the mold. Add around one tablespoon of instant espresso powder in each piece.

Reheat the dark chocolate in the bowl in 15 second intervals until melted. Pick up an empty chocolate piece and dip the edges into the melted chocolate. Carefully place it on top of a filled piece and lightly press it into place. Using your finger, smooth melted chocolate around the seam. Continue until all the chocolate bombs are sealed.

Melt the white chocolate according to the package instructions, then place the melted white chocolate into piping bags. Lightly drizzle white chocolate over the top of the bombs to decorate.

Allow the chocolate decorations to set before using, around 1 hour.

To make the mocha bombs, place the bomb in the bottom of a mug. Pour one cup of hot milk over the top of the bomb to melt the chocolate. When the chocolate is completely melted, stir to combine.

Enjoy or wrap in hot chocolate bomb plastic containers for Hot Chocolate Bomb gift giving.

Coffee Bombs Gifts

As a former teacher, I can tell you coffee was one of my favorite gifts. I did not enjoy a coffee gift for the holiday season but the “just because I was thinking of you” type of day. If you want to give a teacher some thanks, attach our adorable C is for Caffeine or I Like you A Latte Gift Tags.

Next, evenly spread the canned pumpkin puree across the dough rectangles, leaves ¾ inch untouched on the edges.

Take your brown sugar and sprinkle across the pumpkin spread. Do the same with the pumpkin spice.

Once complete, start to roll up the dough at the shorter end and pinch the seams to seal well. Repeat with the second roll.

Next, slice the rolls into 8 rounds and place into a greased baking pan. This is our favorite cinnamon roll baking pan.

Bake at 375 degrees for 20-24 minutes or until golden brown.

Preparing the Cream Cheese Frosting

While baking, prepare the cream cheese icing.

First, blend together cream cheese and butter in a large mixing bowl. This is our favorite Hand Mixer.

Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla. Set aside or transfer to a piping bag (or Ziploc with one corner trimmed off) to drizzle frosting when rolls are ready.

Once rolls finish baking, allow to cool before adding frosting.

Serve warm and Enjoy!

Dish It Out! Plate Wall Decor

Kitchen shelves and decorative plates for wall display might create your new favorite corner of the house. This wall art using decorative plates. Take your picture gallery wall to the next level!

What can I use to hang plates on the wall?

First, let’s talk about how to hang plates on the wall. For a farmhouse home decor, you might start with Kitchen floating shelves décor. Display colored glassware, white plates, mason jars and more.

If looking for a Grandmillenial display, go for an easy plate solution using – E6000 adhesive and D Ring Hangers to display your blue & white chinoiserie dishes. Just glue your D ring on the back and hang on the wall after it dries. (Example from Rockin Redesigns.)

You also can pick up a adhesive plate hangers or, if glue is not your thing, spring wall plate hangers come in all sorts of various sizes.

How can I decorate a large wall cheaply?

So guess what? Here is the good news. Plate Wall Decor is actually, in most cases, cheaper than a gallery wall with photos. Of course, you can buy expensive plates, but plates are in abundance. You can use the hand me down plates you have or head out to Goodwill or a thrift store.

Another resource, I personally love, is Facebook Marketplace to pick up many things for our home including dishes like antique blue and white porcelain plates. The most common collection are Willow Ware by Royal China which are perfect for hanging. Or for every day eating, find almost an exact replica on Amazon or Walmart – it’s actually how I am collecting mine as every day dishes so they are lead-free.

Collect and invest in eye-catching dinnerware, from fun colored glassware to copper cookware and even handmade clay plates. Hang and display decorative plates. Let’s get started with Dish Gallery Wall Ideas & Plate Wall Decor.
