FREE Lunch Notes

Going from having the kids daily over summer to a 7+ hour school day, is a bit exhilarating but also a bit saddening. I admit there is a point in the day where I think about what are they doing, how are they feeling, did they finish their lunch, etc. During the school year, one of the best ways I connect with my kids is school notes – they love them too! Sometimes I find my older daughter packing my younger child’s school lunch and tossing in a note so that she feels special. It truly is a pick-up.

I have a drawer full of school notes. We offered these Back to School Free Printable Lunch Notes and I have picked up others too. You can print it out on paper and toss after use or laminate them and use them over and over. The paper ones are easy to write a note on the back, the laminated ones hold well in the lunch boxes for re-use. I attach a post-it note to them so I can add my own special message.

Directions:

1.) Download your FREE Lunch Notes (see below).

2.) Print on an 8 1/2 by 11 paper (card stock is my preference)

3.) Optional: Laminate using a home laminator. (This is is the Scotch Laminator that I have.)

Thankful for You Gift Tag

As a former teacher, I am always looking for creative ideas for teachers. I don’t have too much wiggled room in the wallet as I have five kids and more than five teachers, but I do want them to feel appreciated. In an effort to not give them something they will shove in the back of an empty desk drawer, I try to do little homemade things that will be used. The school day can be long, especially during the holidays, so I know food is often used (and appreciated!) I made this teacher gift tag for my kids but also wanted to share it with you. Use your Thankful for You Gift Tag for a teacher, a neighbor or bring to a celebration for a host. Enjoy!

Supplies:

Homemade (or store bought) bread or muffins – We used Pillsbury Pumpkin Bread Mix
Fall Ribbon
Twine
Burlap
Parchment Paper
Cardstock
Printer ink

I like to order my prints at Staples. It saves on ink and is only a few short miles from my home. I pick-up at the store, but of course you can upload them online and then have them shipped to your home.

To Order Your Printables at Staples for Under $1*:

Download and save your image from this post. (Please note these images are for personal use only and cannot be sold or used for commercial use.)
Sign in or create a Staples account on their print service page.
Return to Staples print service page.
Go to Start Project.
Go to Documents Printing.
Select the Buy Now Button under color.
On the left column, select your file.
Select upload.
Select done.
Give your job a name.
Make sure your project is single sided. The orientation should be portrait (smaller tags) or horizontal (larger tags).
I changed my media to 8.5×10 and the media to 67 lb coverstock (I prefer a cardstock feel over printer paper feel.)
Select add to cart.
Proceed to checkout. My total was $0.17 for one print. You can choose to ship to your home or to pick up at your local store. Pay online and show your invoice when you pick up (I just show the order number on my phone at pick-up.) The order invoice will arrive in your email inbox.

Adorable Artist Paint Palette Cookies with free printable gift tag – Thank you for coloring my world! Sweet treat idea and thank you for a teacher or use as a birthday party favor. So many ideas for your little artist!

Artist Paint Palette Cookies with Gift Tag

We have the cutest, most easiest cookies for your little artist! First, this recipe requires no baking, just pick up sugar cookies at your local grocery store. Of course if you want a yummy sugar cookie recipe, we have one of those too! You will need some black Licorice Twizzlers Twists. If you have trouble finding those, we found some online. This will make the bristle of the brush and Air Heads will make your paint brush stick.

We also put together a sweet “thank you for coloring my world” gift tag. This free printable makes a sweet end of the year gift for a teacher or perhaps use as a birthday party favor for an artist paint birthday party!

Artist Paint Palette Cupcakes

Ingredients:

8 Sugar Cookies, prepared
1 Container White Frosting
1 Piece Black Licorice Twist
2 Orange Airheads Candy
2 Cherry Airheads Candy
1 White Mystery Airheads Candy
Food Coloring—red, orange, yellow, green blue
Frosting Piping Bags

Directions:

Take each orange and cherry Airheads candy and cut them in half. Cut each of the halves in half lengthwise so you now have 4 pieces of each flavor. Roll each piece into a paintbrush shape.
Cut ½” pieces of the black licorice. Slice each one open so it isn’t a tube shape. Lay each piece out and cut them each in half. Lay one piece of licorice over the end of each paintbrush.
Cut small thin rectangular pieces of the white Airheads candy. Wrap one of these around the seam where the licorice is laying on the paintbrush. Make sure you wrap them tight, so the paintbrush and licorice bristles don’t come apart.
Divide the frosting into 5 small bowls and color each frosting bowl a different color. You can put each color frosting into a small plastic bag for piping if you choose to, or just use a knife to dollop.
Cut out a small hole in the bottom half of each cookie so it looks like the hole on a paint board palette.
Pipe a dot of each color frosting along the top half edge of each cookie.
Use a dot of frosting to attach a paintbrush on top each cookie.
These little paint palettes are cute and easy to make for any party!

We love our Teachers and want to gift them with something that shows how much we appreciate their time and dedication to our kiddos. Most teachers get mugs filled with candy and while that’s also a lovely gift, we wanted to make something with a little more ‘pop’! That’s where this Movie Night Idea came in. One of our favorite things to do as a family is rent a Redbox movie, pop some popcorn and relax together. We figured our teachers would love that too! So, we packaged up some popcorn, you could also add a bag of un-popped corn and tied it up with twine attached the FREE Printables and the gift was ready to go! So easy!

End of the Year Printable Teacher Gift

It’s becoming that time, the end of the year. I have been in three places at the end of the year. I have been the student, the teacher and now I am the parent. As a student, I didn’t comprehend what I was leaving behind. I had amazing educators but I never walked out of the door in tears. As a teacher of 5th grades, I had such sadness seeing my babies walk down the hallway the last time, they had grown up and I was letting my baby birds fly. As a parent, having been in the previous place I have gratitude toward my children’s teachers. I know how much they care for my girls and I know how important their students are. With that, I want to thank them any and every way I can.

We love this end of the year printable – Thank you for PUSHING me to do my BEST this year! We find this to be the sweetest and a thoughtful gift to accompany anything else.

Supplies:

White Card Stock
Spray adhesive or glue stick
Scissors or 2.5 hole punch
Assorted Push Pins
Bead Stacker (we got ours at Hobby Lobby)
Optional: Ribbon

Directions:

Open the Push Pin Printable (get it above above) in your PDF viewer.
Place card stock in your printer.
Push Print.
Cut circles with scissors or use a 2.5 hole punch if you have one.
Spray the back of your image with spray adhesive or use a glue stick.
Press cut image onto the top of your container.
Tie with a ribbon and enjoy!

What is Elf on the Shelf?

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD.
