What is Elf on the Shelf?

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD

How to make Elf on the Shelf Bendable. A no sew Tutorial for your North Pole Visitor.

How to Make a Bendable Elf on the Shelf

Have you paid close attention to the Elf on the Shelf Ideas found on Frugal Coupon Living. Hundreds of ideas and so many more to come!

Find plenty of Elf on the Shelf Photo Ideas in our Master Elf List with more photos coming regularly. Also take a look at our Elf on the Shelf Printables.

How to Make Elf on the Shelf Bendable

Looking to get creative with your Elf on the Shelf ideas. Do you want your special Scout Elf boy or girl doll to bend, hang, hug, groove, jig or more.

By inserting craft wire into his limbs in this DIY (Do It Yourself) Step by Step Tutorial, you will have a bendable elf in 5 minutes flat!

I used 16 to 20 gauge for my various Elf Dolls. This 16 gauge wire one is most like the one I used in this post. This 18 gauge craft wire comes with cutters!

How to make My Elf on the Shelf Bendable

Step by Step Elf Bendable Tutorial

1.) First, the thicker the better but you want to make sure you can easily cut it and slip it through the seam of the elf.

2.) Lift up the arm pit and slide about three inches of wire into the the seam of elf’s arm pit. Adjust as needed. I folded my wire to thicken it.

3.) Trim excess wire. Repeat under the second arm pit.

4.) Most Elf on the Shelf dolls  have a seam at the knee so you will need to have a lower and upper wire (calf and quad) in each leg.

5.) Go behind the Elf’s bottom, slide in a new wire in the seem. This one will only be around an inch and a half as you are only going the length of the quad. Repeat behind the second leg.

6.) Slide a new wire into the toe seam to the knee. This is about an inch in length.

7.) Trim all excess wire.

It is really that easy to make a bendable elf!

No Sew Elf Bendable Tutorial

Bendable Elf on the Shelf Kit

I lost my first Elf on the Shelf (long story, found here in our Unboxing Elf on the Shelf). With our second Elf, I did this with a paper clip. I used our Kitchen Knife Block Scissors to cut the wire.

On Amazon, you can also get a Bendable Elf on the Shelf Kit. We have purchased this too. It was fine. It was actually very cute and creative. It comes with a needle and thread and velcro, but let’s be real. I just don’t sew. If I had any sort of sewing talent (and time) I would take 10 minutes to use this kit.

DIY SnoFlock Christmas Hack – Inexpensive Tree Upgrade!

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

November 26, 2019 by Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living Filed Under: Amazon, Christmas, Crafts, Facebook, Hacks, Instagram, Online Shopping, Pinterest, Seasonal, Social Media

Interested in an Inexpensive Tree Upgrade? Take that artificial Christmas tree and make it look brand new with this DIY SnoFlock Christmas Hack. Snow flocking is so incredibly easy and can be done in an few simple steps!

Many of you remarked on the Christmas Hacks you adopted from this post. Two of my favorite are the pool noodle wreath and hanging Christmas wreaths on kitchen cabinents.

I have another idea for you. If you have been on the hunt for a new Christmas tree, but have a lovely working on at home, trying this DIY SnoFlock Christmas Hack! It’s an Inexpensive Tree Upgrade and will totally change the look and feel of your home.

To get started you will need to purchase a 2 lb or 5 lb page of SnoFlock. This Self-Adhesive Snow Flock Powder will decorate an Artificial Christmas Tree with a Snowy Ice Flake look.

SnoFlock Supplies

Safety first, as when working with any airborne product, I suggest using a simple face mask, protective gloves and safety goggles. SnowFlcok is all natural, but you definitely want to keep the dust exposure to a minimum.

Take your tree outdoors, and lay down a protective tarp or drop cloth to prevent unnecessary cleanup.

Three things needed for DIY Snow Flock

  • SnoFlock The Original Premium Artificial Decorative Self-Adhesive Snow Flock Powder with IceFlakes
  • Strainer with Single Fine Mesh
  • Plastic Spray Bottle (to spray water)

How to Flock a Christmas Tree

These SnoFlock directions are simple.

Step 1: For your snow flock application, you will need a few common household items: a spray bottle of water, a kitchen sifter, a simple face mask, safety googles, gloves and a protective tarp or drop cloth.

Step 2: To begin, generously spray your Christmas tree with water, this will help set SnoFlock into place.

Step 3: Fill your sifter half full with SnoFlock. With one hand, begin to shake or sift so that SnoFlock snow falls on the tree. As the snow is falling, spray water on the falling powder with your other hand. Repeat this process covering the entire Christmas tree.

Step 4: Once a light snow is achieved on your tree, begin the process of creating thicker areas by sprinkling the Ice Flakes left in your sifter onto the wet SnoFlock.

Step 5: Simply use your spray bottle with water and spray all of the SnoFlock until it is saturated, but not dripping wet.

Step 6: Allow you newly SnoFlocked creation to dry!

More details on Seasons Reflection.

SnoFlock Tips!

Concerned about your talent? Buy a Christmas Tree or Wreath from The Dollar Tree and experiment there first. Then move on to your home Christmas tree.

After talking to a friend about her experience, I asked if her’s shed. She said not really. She noticed more shedding with her artificial pine needs than the SnoFlock.

After reading reviews from others, you do want to be careful with storage as the snow can fall off a little. You would store it carefully as any fake tree.

We, personally, have a snow flocked tree and have no trouble with hanging ornaments.

How Much Snow Flock Do I Buy?

SnoFlock 2 Pound Bag:  Perfect for medium sized trees and a variety of SnoFlock looks, or to adore wreaths, garlands, or other festive foliage. This bag will cover a 3 to 5 foot tree with a very heavy, blizzard look or 7-8 foot tree with a medium snow look.

SnoFlock 5 Pound Bag: A 5 lb bag can cover a standard seven-foot Christmas tree to a heavy, blizzard white appearance.

The best thing about buying from Amazon is you can always order more and it will arrive in 1 to 2 days time, especially with Amazon Prime.

SHARE WITH US!

Let us know how flocking an artificial Christmas tree or Christmas wreath works for you! We would love if you would share your final product on this Pinterest Pin or in our comment section below!

I know for me, personally, I always try something else after seeing other’s experience. I live by Amazon reviews, anyone else?

Good luck and happy flocking!

Roll a Santa Dice Game Printable and How to Play Directions.

Roll a Santa Dice Game Printable

This is such a cute game! Played with multiple players, the first one to roll a Santa wins. You can play it in the classroom with a large class of students or play at home over the winter break to eliminate shrills of “I’m bored!” The game can be played with one person but it more fun being played with 2 or more.

Roll a Santa Dice Supplies:

  • Roll a Santa Dice and Santa Template
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Crayons or colored pencils

Roll a Santa Directions:

First print out your dice template and Santa template.

Next cut out your dice template.

Fol at the dotted lines to shape your dice.

Apply glue to the edges of the dice (looks like a trapezoid.)

Fold into the shape of a dice.

Apply tacky glue edges into the dice and press together to close.

Apply tape to any exposed edges

Finally enjoy the game.

How to to Play Roll a Santa Game

It’s very easy to play this game. You need at least two players if turning this into a game (of course, your child can play alone too.)

Play one rolls the dice and draws the Santa part facing the top of the dice.

Play two rolls the dice and draws he Santa part facing the top of the dice.

This occurs with player one, two, three and so on.

If at any point during the game, the player rolls directions to draw apart of the Santa that they already have drawn, that player looses a turn.

Player one and two (etc.) alternate until the first person has the entire Santa drawn. The first person to draw a complete Santa, is the winner!

Online you can find ENDLESS Elf on the Shelf Accessories, Books, Games and Toys.
