Visual Summer Bucket List for Kids

The days are getting warmer, kids are getting restless, and everyone is ready for that last school bell to ring! I’ve searched the internet high and low for some of the best summer bucket list ideas for kids, and I’ve put together my favorite finds. From rainy day fun to getting outdoors in the sun, take a look at this Visual Summer Kids Bucket List this school break! These bucket list items will get everyone excited for the summer days ahead. Enjoy!

How do I make a summer bucket list?

There are tons of different ways to create a summer bucket list! First, make a note of all the different kinds of activities you want to do. Then, you might want to consider making a calendar to organize your kids bucket list items.  We had a friend list all her summer bucket list ideas on a calendar with one bucket list activity per day. Alternatively, you can create a list on a dry erase board or a long sheet of paper and cross off your ideas as you get them done. You could even just keep a rough list in a journal and cross off ideas or add more throughout the summer. The kids are in for a memorable summer with these summer bucket list ideas!

How do you make a cute summer bucket list?

Get artistic with it! Wherever you write your summer bucket list down, make it cuter with little drawings and fun colors for each of the activities. Making your summer bucket list look nice will make you want to save it to cherish the memories you made. This is a great activity for the more creative and artistic kids. You could use glitter, paint, stickers, or any other art supplies to create a cute summer bucket list.

How to Make Soundwave Art | DIY Father’s Day Gift Soundwave Art Generator

Follow this quick and easy tutorial for how to make soundwave art plus create an adorable DIY Father’s Day Gift idea – I love you Soundwave Art Generator craft for kids. The best father’s day gift yet!

Soundwave Art

We have been so blessed to have some of the most amazing preschool teachers! While I have loved every mother’s day (and father’s day gift) my children have created, this years gifts for parents have knocked some other’s out of the park.

For a preschool mother’s day gift, I got adorable photo holders made out of beads and a painted rock. For a preschool Father’s day craft, my husband got the most adorable I Love You Soundwave Art Craft.

How to make soundwave art

It is very easy to make your own soundwave art. I was surprised by how remarkably quick it was with no instruction.

First, open the voice recorder app on your cell phone. Record an I love you memo. If you are an educator (preschool or elementary school), save each file as the child’s name so you can easily identify who is who when creating your soundwave pattern.

How do I get soundwaves from a recording?

Once you have your personalized recording, you want to use a free soundwave art generator. How do you do sound wave art? I looked at a few soundwaves generators, but I found https://convert.ing-now.com to be incredibly easy and straight forward.

Soundwave Graphic Generator

1.) Visit the free soundwave art generator.

2.) Select the circle button, let’s go.

3.) Upload your sound recording.

4.) Choose your foreground color and wavelength size (I chose black and 1800 x 280.)

5.) Click the okay button to generator your soundwave art.

6.) Right click on the soundwave art image and download your I love you soundwave pattern.

I Love You Soundwave Art DIY

Once you’ve created your I love you sound wave art generator, it’s time for a fun father’s day preschool craft (or elementary and older kids too!)

How do you do sound wave art?

Supplies

  • I Love You Soundwave Art
  • Paint Supplies (we love Do A Dot Art! Marker Paints for younger kids)
  • Printer (or print at Staples)
  • Scissors
  • Cardstock
  • Laminator

Instructions

How do soundwave gifts work? Once you have your your personalized sound wave art, it’s time to print the pattern.

First follow the steps above to create a voice memo recording converted to a to sound wave file (png, jpeg, etc.)

Open Microsoft Word and rotate your new document to a landscape design.

Write the phrase “I love you” in the center of the document.

Paste below the phrase, your soundwave file.

Print on cardstock and cut into the shape of a heart.

Using markers or paint (we like Do A Dot Art! Marker Paints) allows your child to color the heart.

Allow the heart to dry.

Once the painted heart is dry, laminate your painted heart sound wave art DIY.

Gift to dad as a DIY Father’s Day craft to keep forever!

Can You Play Soundwave Art?

Do you want to take this a step further? In our memorial crafts for loved ones, I shared one way to play soundwave art. You would basically need a QR code to create soundwave art that plays. A QR code is a pixelated number of black squares and dots that form a square. When scanned with a camera app it opens a browser or browser that holds the sound recording.

Can you play soundwave art? Yes – create a soundwave with a QR code! For this process, you will either purchase a soundwave QR code or create your own URL to hold your recording. Once you have the URL with your sound recording, you can quickly create a QR code on QR-Tiger. If your voice memo is a MP3, you can also upload this on QR Tiger.

Our Pinterest community and I would love to see how this worked out for you. Share your sound wave art block or final DIY Father’s Day Soundwave Craft.  Leave a comment and/or add a photo here on Pinterest!

Also visit our Memorial Craft Ideas post. Make memorial crafts or learn how to record the voicemail of al oved one and purchase soundwave art for deceased family or friends. Pin to Pinterest.

Summertime Popsicle Recipes – Cool Off Your Hot Days with these ice pop recipes.

Summertime Popsicle Recipes

summertime-Popsicles-Recipes-Collage-frugal-coupon-living

Who doesn’t love an ice-cold popsicle on a hot summer’s day? When the temperature spikes in the middle of summer, everyone is searching for ways to cool off. Our usual method is to visit the beach or the pool to take a dip. Whatever it may be in your home, I am sure it is paired with a refreshing summer snack. And one of the best refreshing summer treats on a hot day are popsicles!

We are so excited to share these Summertime Popsicle Recipes with you. Not only are there yummy recipes for the kids, but we snuck in some adult only treats you will be sure to make over and over. Whether you are looking for homemade popsicles for kids or DIY popsicles for the grownups, you’ll keep coming back to these recipes all summer long. Take a look at these DIY Popsicle Recipes with Fruit, Spirits, Chocolate and more – and be sure to let us know your favorites!

How do you make DIY popsicles creamy instead of icy?

Icy popsicles can work if they are a fruit variety. But if you are making chocolate or any other cream-based popsicles, you will want to have a smooth texture, not an icy one. A tip I saw online is to add a tablespoon of cornstarch to your DIY popsicles before pouring the mixture into your molds! If anyone tries this, I’d love to know how it works for you. It sounds like a great little hack to make sure your creamy popsicle texture stays on point!

What can you make you DIY popsicles in?

You might think that you need molds specifically designed for popsicles in order to make your own at home, but that actually isn’t the case! Of course, a popsicle mold would be the easiest way, and you can always grab some inexpensive ones off of Amazon or at the Dollar Tree if you would prefer. But if you are in a pinch, you can easily use these household items in place of a mold!

  • Plastic or paper cups
  • Ice cube trays
  • Clean, recycled yogurt containers
  • Any small baking tins, like muffin tins

If you don’t have popsicle sticks to use, a sturdy straw, plastic spoon, or plastic knife would work as well. We do recommend popsicle sticks though, as they are relatively easy to find, super inexpensive, and they have the name “popsicle sticks” for a reason — they are made for the job!

I’ve always been a patriot, but ever since we moved to DC, I’ve felt even more of that patriotic spirit! It’s so special living in the heart of our great nation’s capital. I am so grateful to live in the land of the free, a land with diverse minds and thoughts, a country of so many cultures, and a place where we all can accept and embrace our differences. There is just something so special about the stars, stripes, and red white and blue! In the District, you can always count on there being a lot of festivity and fun going on when July 4th rolls around. Following the festivity, there is a beautiful display of fireworks over our nation’s capital and monuments – you and your family probably catch the event each year as it is telecast live. This Fourth of July I wanted to get together some tips, hacks and tricks for creating the perfect 4th of July party. Whether you are celebrating with a neighborhood of 100 or just with your family in the backyard, enjoy these 4th of July ideas and tips to make your Fourth of July memorable, patriotic and full of fun!

What’s the best way to celebrate the 4th of July?

As long as there is plenty of red, white and blue involved, the festivities are totally up to you! Some people prefer to grill up some hamburgers with just their family and keep things small, while others will gather in throngs and really go all out. The great part about these 4th of July ideas and hacks is that they work for both types of celebrations! Deck out your house, put some colorful decorations in your hair, or make your own Fourth of July lanterns. Have fun with these 4th of July ideas, and enjoy!

You have to be safe with fireworks. Use Red SOLO Cups to protect children’s hands from sparklers. Idea from Love 2 Dream, Do You.

Have fun before the fireworks begin with these Glow in the Dark Water Balloons from The Scrap Shoppe Blog.

Recycle a Pallet! Make a welcome American Flag Pallet from The Pink Punk (this doesn’t appear to be the original source, which is unknown, but it provides a great tutorial.)

The fireworks don’t have to be the only light show of the night. Make your own Mason Jar Lanterns! Take a look at these Fourth of July Lanterns with a tutorial from Momtastic.

 Red, White & Blue Foods

I am a big fan of Patriotism. When I see documentaries on the founding of our country and the freedom our founders pursued, it seriously brings tears to my eyes. There’s just really nothing more inspiring than what they were fighting for. I know that myself and many others take these freedoms for granted these days, and the fourth of July holiday helps us gain perspective of our blessings every year. July 4th (and other American Holidays) remind me of the sacrifices that the founding fathers made for us, and really makes me want to celebrate!

For Memorial Day, July 4th and other red, white and blue occasions, I think it’s only right to celebrate with festive foods in those special colors! From red, white and blue desserts, to fresh fruit salads, to other tasty recipes for the 4th of July, I challenge you to make your entire Independence Day table red, white and blue!

What are the best red, white and blue foods for the 4th of July?

I think you will notice a theme among many of these 4th of July recipes — lots of them use red, white and blue fruits and vegetables, while a few of them rely on food coloring to fit in with the festive color palette. If you’re going the healthy route, opt for the 4th of July recipes with those fresh ingredients. On the other hand, if you’re searching for red, white and blue desserts, you will want to stock up on red and blue food coloring and other baking supplies.

Whether you want to keep things relatively simple with a fruit salad or go all out with a summer berry tart, consider this your one stop shop for all of your red, white and blue recipe inspiration. Delicious, festive, and easy to make, everyone will go wild for these recipes!
