Summertime Popsicle Recipes – Cool Off Your Hot Days with these ice pop recipes.

Summertime Popsicle Recipes

summertime-Popsicles-Recipes-Collage-frugal-coupon-living

Who doesn’t love an ice-cold popsicle on a hot summer’s day? When the temperature spikes in the middle of summer, everyone is searching for ways to cool off. Our usual method is to visit the beach or the pool to take a dip. Whatever it may be in your home, I am sure it is paired with a refreshing summer snack. And one of the best refreshing summer treats on a hot day are popsicles!

We are so excited to share these Summertime Popsicle Recipes with you. Not only are there yummy recipes for the kids, but we snuck in some adult only treats you will be sure to make over and over. Whether you are looking for homemade popsicles for kids or DIY popsicles for the grownups, you’ll keep coming back to these recipes all summer long. Take a look at these DIY Popsicle Recipes with Fruit, Spirits, Chocolate and more – and be sure to let us know your favorites!

How do you make DIY popsicles creamy instead of icy?

Icy popsicles can work if they are a fruit variety. But if you are making chocolate or any other cream-based popsicles, you will want to have a smooth texture, not an icy one. A tip I saw online is to add a tablespoon of cornstarch to your DIY popsicles before pouring the mixture into your molds! If anyone tries this, I’d love to know how it works for you. It sounds like a great little hack to make sure your creamy popsicle texture stays on point!

What can you make you DIY popsicles in?

You might think that you need molds specifically designed for popsicles in order to make your own at home, but that actually isn’t the case! Of course, a popsicle mold would be the easiest way, and you can always grab some inexpensive ones off of Amazon or at the Dollar Tree if you would prefer. But if you are in a pinch, you can easily use these household items in place of a mold!

  • Plastic or paper cups
  • Ice cube trays
  • Clean, recycled yogurt containers
  • Any small baking tins, like muffin tins

If you don’t have popsicle sticks to use, a sturdy straw, plastic spoon, or plastic knife would work as well. We do recommend popsicle sticks though, as they are relatively easy to find, super inexpensive, and they have the name “popsicle sticks” for a reason — they are made for the job!

Fishing Cupcakes Ingredients

Ingredients*:

  • 8 Prepared Cupcakes, unfrosted
  • 1 Container Aqua Blue Frosting
  • 1 Package Pull N’ Peel Licorice
  • Mini Pretzel Sticks

  • Red Hots Candy Candy

*Yields 8 cupcakes, multiple as needed.

Fishing Cupcakes In Process

Directions:

  1. Frost cupcakes with the blue frosting with a smooth layer. Using a knife or offset spatula, touch the frosted cupcake and gently pull up so it creates a little peak to look like a water wave. Do this all over the top of each cupcake.
  2. Melt the candy melts per package directions and dip each gum ball until half covered. Shake off any excess and set the bobbers white side up on top of each cupcake. Put a red hot on the white chocolate on top of each bobber and let these set about 15 minutes so the chocolate hardens.
  3. Take a half piece of licorice and tie the end on to the end of a pretzel stick. Press the other end of the pretzel into the cupcake so it sticks up in the air and the licorice hangs down like fishing line. Trim the licorice if it is too long. Repeat this for each cupcake.
  4. Place a fish on each cupcake right in front of the licorice fishing line.
  5. These very cute cupcakes would be great for a little fisherman’s party!

I’ve always been a patriot, but ever since we moved to DC, I’ve felt even more of that patriotic spirit! It’s so special living in the heart of our great nation’s capital. I am so grateful to live in the land of the free, a land with diverse minds and thoughts, a country of so many cultures, and a place where we all can accept and embrace our differences. There is just something so special about the stars, stripes, and red white and blue! In the District, you can always count on there being a lot of festivity and fun going on when July 4th rolls around. Following the festivity, there is a beautiful display of fireworks over our nation’s capital and monuments – you and your family probably catch the event each year as it is telecast live. This Fourth of July I wanted to get together some tips, hacks and tricks for creating the perfect 4th of July party. Whether you are celebrating with a neighborhood of 100 or just with your family in the backyard, enjoy these 4th of July ideas and tips to make your Fourth of July memorable, patriotic and full of fun!

What’s the best way to celebrate the 4th of July?

As long as there is plenty of red, white and blue involved, the festivities are totally up to you! Some people prefer to grill up some hamburgers with just their family and keep things small, while others will gather in throngs and really go all out. The great part about these 4th of July ideas and hacks is that they work for both types of celebrations! Deck out your house, put some colorful decorations in your hair, or make your own Fourth of July lanterns. Have fun with these 4th of July ideas, and enjoy!

You have to be safe with fireworks. Use Red SOLO Cups to protect children’s hands from sparklers. Idea from Love 2 Dream, Do You.

These Red, White and Blue Foods on Frugal Coupon Living are perfect for chowing down on under the fireworks this July 4th. From red, white and blue desserts, to colorful 4th of July drinks, and everything in between, save these recipes for your July 4th festivities this year!

 Red, White & Blue Foods

I am a big fan of Patriotism. When I see documentaries on the founding of our country and the freedom our founders pursued, it seriously brings tears to my eyes. There’s just really nothing more inspiring than what they were fighting for. I know that myself and many others take these freedoms for granted these days, and the fourth of July holiday helps us gain perspective of our blessings every year. July 4th (and other American Holidays) remind me of the sacrifices that the founding fathers made for us, and really makes me want to celebrate!

For Memorial Day, July 4th and other red, white and blue occasions, I think it’s only right to celebrate with festive foods in those special colors! From red, white and blue desserts, to fresh fruit salads, to other tasty recipes for the 4th of July, I challenge you to make your entire Independence Day table red, white and blue!

What are the best red, white and blue foods for the 4th of July?

I think you will notice a theme among many of these 4th of July recipes — lots of them use red, white and blue fruits and vegetables, while a few of them rely on food coloring to fit in with the festive color palette. If you’re going the healthy route, opt for the 4th of July recipes with those fresh ingredients. On the other hand, if you’re searching for red, white and blue desserts, you will want to stock up on red and blue food coloring and other baking supplies.

Whether you want to keep things relatively simple with a fruit salad or go all out with a summer berry tart, consider this your one stop shop for all of your red, white and blue recipe inspiration. Delicious, festive, and easy to make, everyone will go wild for these recipes!

The best way to celebrate Independence Day is with delicious food and treats shared with loved ones! Before July 4th rolls around, plan your menu with these creative, adorable and explosive red, white and blue recipes: 4th of July edition! From 4th of July appetizers to 4th of July cake and cupcakes, these festive recipes will be a hit. Also great for Memorial Day, too!

Fourth of July Recipes

Fourth of July Recipes

Ready for July 4th, Memorial Day, or even Labor Day? One of my favorite traditions during the 4th of July is grilling, cooking, and of course eating all of the tasty food! Whether you are going on a picnic, celebrating at home, or meeting up with some friends, don’t go about your plans empty handed. Scroll through these recipes for the 4th of July and recreate some of these creative and tasty red, white and blue Fourth of July recipes. From tasty cheese boards for the adults to food crafts for kids, there is something for everyone. You can never be too prepared with these 4th of July snacks, cupcakes, and appetizer inspiration! More used to having the traditional grilled options on the 4th of July? We also included a twist on your favorite Independence Day recipes like a classic hamburger and hot dog!

What is a traditional 4th of July meal?

Most Americans enjoy grilled meals on the 4th of July, including hamburgers and hot dogs. These are often accompanied by sides like potato salad, corn on the cob, and more. The great thing about the 4th of July is that there is no “official” meal, so you can experiment with new recipes and ideas year after year!

What is not usually served at a July 4th cookout?

Since July weather is hot, it’s best to avoid hot beverages while you’re celebrating Independence Day. It’s also not typically the time to serve something fancy. In our house, we usually celebrate outside with the kids running around and games being played, so food that’s easy to serve up and eat is always the best option.

Enjoy these 4th of July Recipes, and happy 4th everyone!

Take your regular lemonade stand game to the next level this summer! Learn How to Build a Lemonade Stand with a Recycled Pallet. Easy step by step directions to make your own DIY lemonade stand the best on the block!

How to Build a Lemonade Stand with a Recycled Pallet

How to Build a Lemonade Stand

Are you raising little entrepreneurs? Setting up a lemonade stand in the neighborhood is one of my favorite summer traditions. The kids always get so excited to earn some money and make their lemonade. And of course, I never get tired of having a refreshing glass of lemonade on a hot summer day!

We upcycled a wooden pallet to make a DIY Lemonade Stand. I have seen these stands for a few years now and I have always wanted one. I never knew how easy it was to make your own! My friend made one too, and she omitted the words “Lemonade Stand” to let it serve multiple uses. She’s used hers to sell girl scout cookies and even let it serve as a concession booth for her annual backyard movie theater. Seriously, it is so versatile and great for so many different things! In light of that, we used a little flag to say “Lemonade Stand” rather than write it on the stand itself. You can do it our way or commit to the lemonade stand by painting it on — it’s up to you!

How much does it cost to make your own kids’ lemonade stand?

The best part about this DIY lemonade stand is that it only cost me $1.00 to make! I bought the pallet from a local hardware store and sourced the other materials from leftover scrap wood and paint from other projects! If you don’t have paint, consider getting the sample sizes from your local hardware store.

Upcycled Pallet Project

Supplies:

  • Pallet
  • Circular Saw
  • Hammer
  • Drill
  • Screws
  • Pencil
  • Tape Measure
  • 1/2 inch thick board (plywood or any scrap wood) for top
  • 2 – 4 inch wide by 33 inches long boards for bottom braces
  • 2 – 2 inch wide by 44 inches long boards for side braces
  • 1 – 2×4 length of pallet
  • Sandpaper and or power sander
  • Paint and Brush

Measurement Note: These measurements can be changed and will be different if you make your stand a different height. Feel free to customize how it suits you or your child.

Upcycled Pallet Lemonade Stand Tutorial

Directions:

  1. Pound in any nail heads that are sticking out. This is easier than puling them out.
  2. Turn the pallet so the slats are vertical.
  3. Start by deciding how high you want your stand to be. I made this one to be 30 inches high.
  4. Draw a line across the top of the pallet at your height and cut off the top of the pallet.
  5. Measure how long your pallet is, and cut your 2×4 that same length.
  6. Pound in the 2×4 with a hammer where there is a gap in the pallet where you just cut until it is flush.
  7. Place some screws in the 2×4 from the front and back of the pallet to reinforce the 2×4 and make sure it doesn’t shift.
  8. Cut your 1/2 inch board or plywood to the size you want your top to be. Mine measured 53 inches by 12 inches. I actually used some scrap wood and pieced two together to make my top.
  9. Make sure the table top is placed further towards the back of the pallet, as you don’t want it to tip.
  10. Turn the stand upside down and screw in your bottom braces to the bottom of the pallet on each side.
  11. Double check the length of the side braces, and make some 45 degree marks on the ends of the side braces so they are flush with the top and bottom braces.
  12. Screw the side braces in to the 2×4 on top and the bottom brace for the bottom.
  13. Flip back over and sand away. (I recommend a power sander as this will go much faster. You will still need good old sandpaper to get the hard to reach places too.)
  14. Once it’s smooth, your ready to paint! Enjoy!
