Middle school can be intimidating. The big halls, the switching classes, feeling like a little fish in a large pond… but come on, when it comes to the locker (only), you know you wanna go back. To me, decorating a locker is like the graduation of decorating your childhood doll house. You have graduated from the dolls/Barbies, but this gives you your unique space to have fun and call your own. While my girls are still in elementary school, I had fun with this post. I love the rungs, the chandeliers, the shelving, the decor, all the little touches that would make your little (excuse me, big girl) feel special on the first day of school! And you know what mom, a lot of it is still fun and juvenile just to keep her from growing up too soon!

Locker Party Idea: with some of these homemade locker crafts, consider having friends over a few weeks before school starts. You could buy plush fabric and make your own locker carpets. You could also buy all the supplies you need to make some of these DIY locker decorations. It’s a fun way to celebrate and bond before the first school bell rings.

Batteries Not Included – Practical Battery Gift Tag for Christmas

Batteries not Included. Download this free Battery Gift Tag and become a child’s superhero this Christmas season with this practical gift idea! Or encourage someone with well wishes of ENERGY through the holiday break.

Battery Gift Tag for Christmas

Batteries Not Included - Practical Battery Gift Tag for Christmas

On Frugal Coupon Living, it’s the year of the practical gift. In year’s past, we shared with you our Fleece Navidad Blanket (that was a hit) and our M&M Mason Jar Poem. This year we brought you the Gift Wrap Printable and our latest one, a Battery Gift Tag.  Both are found in our list of Christmas Gift Ideas for Your Neighbors.

Okay, so it seems like a silly gift but how many times has Christmas morning arrived and you lack a battery for a toy? I cannot tell you the numerous times this happened to us. I am lucky enough that I stock up on Amazon Basic Batteries with our monthly Subscribe & Save, so luckily we have a battery box I can always run too, but others might not be as organized as you when it comes to remaining on top of your Amazon Prime needs (wink!)

Battery Gift Tag

If you want to be a super hero this holiday season, gift batteries. The kids will thank you when they can enjoy their new toys on Christmas morning. You can gift this to neighbors, co-workers, friends, teachers and more! It can be a small part of a larger gift if you just feel silly handing over batteries. Maybe you gift it with a child’s toy too!

Batteries Not Included Gift Tag

Battery Gift Tag Supplies

Not many supplies are needed for this craft. I actually used  curling ribbon I keep in my gift wrapping drawers. Seriously my favorite part of wrapping a gift is sliding the blade of my scissors along the back of the curling ribbon and Voilà – there it is, an adorable curl!

You obviously need batteries. Like I said, we have a stockpile of Amazon Basic Batteries but they don’t gift as well (unless you wrap with gift wrap.) They come in a cardboard box which could make a pretty wrapped present. I picked up these batteries at my local grocery store – just a quick add to my shopping cart!

Battery Gift Tag Directions

I print my gift tags at Staples Copy Center, more on that below. We order our four gift tags for under $1!  In your free download, are gift tags for those that celebrate Christmas and those that use more of a generic term like holidays… you can gift this for all!

Use ribbon you have on hand and tie your Battery Gift Tag to your batteries without wrapping or you can wrap in a small cardboard box ( the Amazon Basic Batteries will come in an easy to wrap box).

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup coconut oil (or other carrier oil)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon allspice
  • ½ teaspoon ginger
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • Additional Materials:
  • Mason-style jars with lids
  • Printable gift tags (print on white cardstock for best results)
  • Optional: Ribbon to wrap around jars

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Mixing with clean hands helps to warm up the coconut oil and better blend into the other ingredients.
  2. Scoop into mason jars and attach lids tightly. (Jars shown in photo are Ball Collection Elite Design Series Half Pint Jars)
  3. Cut out printed labels for jars. Use double sided tape or a strong glue to place a label on top of each jar. You may also use a single hole punch to punch a hole in the top of the gift tag and wrap it on the jar using a thin ribbon.

This recipe yields 2.5 cups of body scrub.

To use the Gingerbread Sugar Scrub: Gently apply a scoopful and scrub onto wet skin in a circular motion – concentrating on dry areas and rough patches. Rinse skin clean using warm water.

Sugar Scrub should be stored at room temperature and stays fresh for up to 4 weeks.

Wrapped Up Printable Wrapping Paper Gift

Looking for the most perfect, practical gift for the holiday season? Look no more as we have  a free Wrapped Up Printable tag for a Wrapping Paper Gift idea for teachers, neighbors, co-workers and more!

Wrapped Up Printable Wrapping Paper Gift

I plan ahead. I normally like to know what I am going to buy before Black Friday hits. Well let’s tell the truth. I normally like to know months in advance… like six months, that’s not too embarrassing, right? So upon entering the Christmas season, I began to consider Gift Ideas for Our Neighbors. I wanted to do something practical. In other years, Id id some really cute gifts like the Fleece Navidad blankets and also the M&M Christmas Tags.

This year I wanted to do something practical, something they could use rather than sit on the self… along came the the idea of the Gift Wrap Tag. With this free printable you attach it to a roll of wrapping paper (or gift bags) and gift a roll of wrapping paper. Seems a little silly, but I would love if someone gave me gift wrap that was nice!.. especially if it was a double-sided Hallmark brand!

Wrapped Up Gift Tag Supplies

Not many supplies are needed for this gift. In fact, I was able to go into our gift closet and find these rolls of Christmas gift wrap. I had bought them in January after the Christmas season – might I add that is the best time to buy Christmas wrapping paper.  My favorite rolls are the Hallmark rolls that are lined on the back ensuring a straight cut!

I used bows and curling ribbon I keep in my gift wrapping drawers. Seriously my favorite part of wrapping a gift is sliding the blade of my scissors along the back of the curling ribbon and Voilà – there it is, an adorable curl!

You will also need our free printable. I give the link to that printable below as well as how to order your printable online so it is printed in the store – save on ink and paper. We got our gift tags for under $1.

Keep cool this summer with this eos printable gift for friends. This eos Lip Balm cute idea for an end of year or last day of school gift for students and teachers alike!

EOS Printable – Keep Cool This Summer

Looking for a cute end of the year gift for students or teachers alike? This fun printable incorporates eos lip balm a fun summer wish – keep cool this summer. Use traditional lip balm flavors including sweet mint, passion fruit, strawberry sorbet or tangerine.

Most eos lip balms cost about about $3, so if you are doing this for an entire classroom, expect to pay about $60. You can buy eos bulk on Amazon, but I am not seeing it for much less than $3. In fact, some of the bulk packages cost over $3/piece.  You might be best running up to target and adding a bunch to your shopping cart. I saw them both in the health (near the band-aids) section, on end caps and also near checkout. At Walgreens, I have seen them for B1G1 50% off but they were at $3.99/piece. That would make each the same price as Target (not on sale at $2.99/each.)

If the price becomes too high for you to give to an entire classroom, consider use for a smaller gathering of friends or gift to a teacher! She will appreciate one in her pool bag this summer!

Keep Cool This Summer Supplies:

  • eos Lip Balm
  • eos printable (see below)

  10. Give your job a name.
  11. Make sure your project is single sided. The orientation should be portrait.
  12. I changed my media to 8.5×10 and the media to 67 lb cover stock (I prefer a card stock feel over printer paper feel.)
  13. Select add to cart.
  14. Proceed to checkout. My total was $0.65 for one print. You can choose to ship to your home or to pick up at your local store. Pay online and show your invoice when you pick up (I just show the order number on my phone at pick-up.) The order invoice will arrive in your email inbox.
  15. Enjoy!

Sending your child to a friend’s house for a sleepover is a rite of passage that every kid should get to experience. Sending them off with the right things packed will help the experience go smoothly and set your mind at ease about their being away from home somewhat. Here are some tips about packing for sleepovers so that your child has what they need:

Paperwork package

This is important for a number of reasons, and most people disregard it. If your child is going to be away from home, you need to make sure they have certain pieces of paperwork. These include a consent to treat for emergency medical situations, a picture and an emergency contact sheet that gives at least two options. This is also where you can put your name and number in case the parents happen to need to contact you.

Allergy and prescription medications

If you child has allergies, you need to inform the other parents up front. Also write these things down and include any medications they might need. These are very important things to share with whomever is watching your kids.

Pajamas and a change of clothes

Of course you want your kids to have a pair of pajamas and something to put on clean when they get up the next day. If you kid has an occasional accident, perhaps you should also include extra underwear or pull ups. Never embarrass your kid by speaking of this in front of them, however.

Video Games or Toys

If your kid wants to bring along his favorite toy or video game, run it by your fellow parent and make sure they are cool with it. Some parents prefer not to take responsibility for expensive electronics or special items. A quick heads up and you will be in the clear as far as knowing what to do here.

Pillow

It is usually a good idea to bring your own pillow for hygiene sakes. You don’t have to say why…simply that your child is used to a particular pillow. Better safe than sorry with lice concerns and so on.

Hygienic supplies

Make sure you send your kid’s toothbrush, hair brush or comb and deodorant at a minimum. Some folks like to send their own little carry bag that is full of these types of things and that works too. The last thing you want to do is depend on someone else to provide these things. Towels and washcloths are very different from deodorant. Pack what you would not want to share.

Packing for an overnight stay is really about paying attention to details and sending what you would want someone to have if they stayed at your home. Always think safety first and remember the things that might make your child comfortable.

Going on a ski trip is a rather exciting thing to do for vacation and it demands some very specific packing. Where lip balm is not very important on some vacations, it can be a life saver when you are out on the slopes. These types of specific items are often overlooked and then you have to pay a fortune at the lodge to get them. Here is a basic packing list of the primary things you will need on your ski trip:

● Glasses (Sunglasses and Regular)
● Contact Lenses
● Warm Clothing
● Gloves
● Boots for Snow
● Scarves
● Heavy Coat
● Hats
● Waterproof gear
● Ski Equipment
● Camera
● Cell Phone/Tablet/Chargers
● Toiletries
● First Aid Kit
● Medicines
● Lip Balm
● Maps
● Watch
● Compass
● ID/travel paperwork

Here are some packing tips to help you be sure to cover all your bases effectively:

Pack Layers of Clothes

The last thing you want to do on a ski trip is be cold. Layers are the key to warmth in the snow and you start with a good pair of thermals. Add in some turtlenecks, jackets, sweaters and some good ski pants and waterproof gear and you will be set. Make sure your ski coat is of top quality for optimal warmth.

Toiletries Matter

The last thing you want is to be buying hand and foot warmers at the cabin store. Pack plenty of toiletries that you will need and that includes lip balm and first aid kits. You never want to be caught without these types of things up on a mountain. If you do have to buy them, you will pay a premium that your wallet will certainly feel.

Rent or Buy?

Decide ahead of time if you are going to buy your gear or rent it. If you do decide to rent it there are certain things you should still buy for yourself. One thing is a quality pair of goggles. These are so vital to your comfort and safety that having your own is really important. Likewise, a solid pair of ski boots that fit are vital too. Like the old rental skates at the roller skating rinks, finding a good rental pair that fits is a challenge. Pick out a good pair and pay the price…your feet will thank you later.

Remember the Time Away From The Slopes

Not every moment will be spent on the slopes. Perhaps you will go to a nice, formal dinner and need a tux. Maybe you will take in a movie or spend some time walking around a nearby town. Whatever the case, you need to pack for some of these possibilities and be prepared. You rarely spend the entire vacation doing nothing but skiing.
