Moving Binder Printables & Moving Organization Tips

In the past two years my family and I have moved – TWICE. One was a cross country move (with movers), the second was moving four houses down (on the same street) while six months pregnant. I {almost} prefer the cross-country move! There was nothing pretty about me walking up and down the street with a huge belly and a load of boxes (yes, protective readers, I know carrying boxes when pregnant is a no-no and I am happy to report, we had a healthy baby boy this past October.)  Regardless, I learned my lesson that hot summer, with the worse abdominal cramping. We settled in our new home, though, and with a young baby at home, I am ignoring the boxes in the corner that never got unpacked… because that just happens.

Home Staging Checklist Printable

Moving Binder Printables

When moving, I discovered the key to having sanity while moving is being organized. Because of my own need, I created a Moving Binder Printable, just for you! Enjoy it and personalize it for your home!

Inside the Moving Moving Binder Organizer

I ordered a 1 inch white 3-ring notebook. I love the ones that have the clear slip outside. This was my bible for moving (lowercase b – wink). For this printable you can get a 1 inch, 1.5 inch or 2 inch binder as I included a spine for all three sizes (then again, go as large as you want and just use a smaller spine printable!

This printable Moving Binder includes 26 pages of content to keep you organized. Many sections have multiple pages.

1.) Cover Page and Spine Title

We made this cover page bright so it is easy to find in the clutter. I recommend, however,  always keeping it in the same place in your home so it isn’t lost. Typically the kitchen counter is best.

2.) Important Dates Calendar

Print out as many as you need. We have left the dates open so you can personalize the number and months to your schedule. Add the moving date, moving truck arrival date, home closing date, bill due dates, etc.

3.) To Buy Chart

Organize your purchases with a list of where you bought the item, the budgeted amount and how much you spent. This can be more purchases bigger and smaller! Add these 3-ring binder envelope organizers to store receipts in case returns or claims are needed.

4.) Essential Basket Checklist

When you move you need a basket that has all your supplies. This includes a box cutter, sticky notes, packing tape, scissors, permanent markers, tool kit, etc. I provide a checklist and keep some areas blank for you to add your own content.

5.) Car Inventory Checklist

You also want to include some items in the car – things that do not get stuck on the moving truck. Get cleaning and laundry supplies, pet food, perishable groceries, 7 days of clothing, etc.

6.) Box Inventory

Label each box with a number, the room where it is going and what is inside (this part is optional, but for some boxes you will really care!) If you are moving your entire house, you will need many pages of this document.

7.) Moving Budget Checklist

This checklist includes the cost of moving supplies as well as opening and closing utilities accounts.

8.) Change of Address Checklist

You will appreciate this resource. We list all the places you want to notify for changing and updating your address.

9.) Utility Service Information

This includes the name of the company, account numbers, cost, etc. This would be a good resource/page to print multiples. It also allows you and your spouse to communicate on one page without the question – did you do this? Or what’s that password agian?

10.) Move-in Cleaning Checklist

If time permits, even if just a day, we provided a checklist to clean your new home BEFORE you move in. Trust me, you will thank me later. This also provides a deep clean before furniture and boxes get in the way. Use it for your old home and your new home.

11.) Donation Tracker

For taxes, keep track of all your donations and the value.

12.) Thank You Notes

Thank those that help you move!

13.) Color Codes Box Labels

We have created a color coded label for each area of the home. We left some blank for your personalized use. We also included labels for fragile boxes! The white circles provided allow you to number the boxes. For example Master Bedroom 1, Master Bedroom 2, Master Bedroom 3…

For all of these sections, you can print as much as you need! If you have a really large donation list, print two or more pages of the donation tracker.

Essential Moving Basket

I told you above I included a essential moving basket checklist. Have a small basket in which you keep sharpie markers (for marking on boxes), packing tape, scotch tape, a box cutter, tool kit, paper towels, scissors, something to write with and your moving binder. This will be your best friend when packing boxes and unpacking boxes. Do not forget this basket!

Moving Labels Printable

I personally prefer to have my printables professionally printed at Staples. I can save on printer ink and get quality paper. All of these are fine for your home printer, but below are directions if you would like to do the same.

How to Print at Staples

Please follow the steps below to print your printables at Staples. You can also follow this video tutorial.

  1. Have your PDF, Word Document or printable saved to a folder on your computer.
  2. Sign in or create a Staples account.
  3. Return to the Staples Printing Service Page.
  4. Scroll down to Self-Service printing.
  5. Go to Start Project.
  6. Go to Documents Printing.
  7. Select Browse.
  8. Select the Buy Now Button under color.
  9. In the left column, choose add file(s).
  10. Select upload files (to upload a file from your computer).
  11. Add more files or select the blue upload button.
  12. Select done.
  13. Give your job a name in the top left column.
  14. Choose color or B&W.
  15. Make sure your project is single sided. (You can choose double sided if you need.)
  16. Choose the correct orientation of your project – landscape or portrait.
  17. I changed my media to 8.5×11  67 lb card/coverstock (I prefer a card stock feel over printer paper feel. It makes the paper very durable and sturdy.)
  18. Save your product to Staples or select add to cart on the bottom right.
  19. Proceed to checkout.

You can choose to ship to your home or to pick up at your local store. Pay online and show your invoice when you pick up (I just show the order number on my phone at pick-up.) The order invoice will arrive in your email inbox.

Moving is hard! There are a few posts you will want to read and save to get you organized.

DIY SnoFlock Christmas Hack – Inexpensive Tree Upgrade!

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

November 26, 2019 by Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living Filed Under: Amazon, Christmas, Crafts, Facebook, Hacks, Instagram, Online Shopping, Pinterest, Seasonal, Social Media 1 Comment

Interested in an Inexpensive Tree Upgrade? Take that artificial Christmas tree and make it look brand new with this DIY SnoFlock Christmas Hack. Snow flocking is so incredibly easy and can be done in an few simple steps!

Many of you remarked on the Christmas Hacks you adopted from this post. Two of my favorite are the pool noodle wreath and hanging Christmas wreaths on kitchen cabinents.

I have another idea for you. If you have been on the hunt for a new Christmas tree, but have a lovely working on at home, trying this DIY SnoFlock Christmas Hack! It’s an Inexpensive Tree Upgrade and will totally change the look and feel of your home.

To get started you will need to purchase a 2 lb or 5 lb page of SnoFlock. This Self-Adhesive Snow Flock Powder will decorate an Artificial Christmas Tree with a Snowy Ice Flake look.

SnoFlock Supplies

Safety first, as when working with any airborne product, I suggest using a simple face mask, protective gloves and safety goggles. SnowFlcok is all natural, but you definitely want to keep the dust exposure to a minimum.

Take your tree outdoors, and lay down a protective tarp or drop cloth to prevent unnecessary cleanup.

Three things needed for DIY Snow Flock

  • SnoFlock The Original Premium Artificial Decorative Self-Adhesive Snow Flock Powder with IceFlakes
  • Strainer with Single Fine Mesh
  • Plastic Spray Bottle (to spray water)

How to Flock a Christmas Tree

These SnoFlock directions are simple.

Step 1: For your snow flock application, you will need a few common household items: a spray bottle of water, a kitchen sifter, a simple face mask, safety googles, gloves and a protective tarp or drop cloth.

Step 2: To begin, generously spray your Christmas tree with water, this will help set SnoFlock into place.

Step 3: Fill your sifter half full with SnoFlock. With one hand, begin to shake or sift so that SnoFlock snow falls on the tree. As the snow is falling, spray water on the falling powder with your other hand. Repeat this process covering the entire Christmas tree.

Step 4: Once a light snow is achieved on your tree, begin the process of creating thicker areas by sprinkling the Ice Flakes left in your sifter onto the wet SnoFlock.

Step 5: Simply use your spray bottle with water and spray all of the SnoFlock until it is saturated, but not dripping wet.

Step 6: Allow you newly SnoFlocked creation to dry!

More details on Seasons Reflection.

SnoFlock Tips!

Concerned about your talent? Buy a Christmas Tree or Wreath from The Dollar Tree and experiment there first. Then move on to your home Christmas tree.

After talking to a friend about her experience, I asked if her’s shed. She said not really. She noticed more shedding with her artificial pine needs than the SnoFlock.

After reading reviews from others, you do want to be careful with storage as the snow can fall off a little. You would store it carefully as any fake tree.

We, personally, have a snow flocked tree and have no trouble with hanging ornaments.

How Much Snow Flock Do I Buy?

SnoFlock 2 Pound Bag:  Perfect for medium sized trees and a variety of SnoFlock looks, or to adore wreaths, garlands, or other festive foliage. This bag will cover a 3 to 5 foot tree with a very heavy, blizzard look or 7-8 foot tree with a medium snow look.

SnoFlock 5 Pound Bag: A 5 lb bag can cover a standard seven-foot Christmas tree to a heavy, blizzard white appearance.

The best thing about buying from Amazon is you can always order more and it will arrive in 1 to 2 days time, especially with Amazon Prime.

SHARE WITH US!

Let us know how flocking an artificial Christmas tree or Christmas wreath works for you! We would love if you would share your final product on this Pinterest Pin or in our comment section below!

I know for me, personally, I always try something else after seeing other’s experience. I live by Amazon reviews, anyone else?

Good luck and happy flocking!

Older Home Improvement Hacks and DIY Renovations

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

November 17, 2019 by Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living Filed Under: Facebook, Hacks, Home Improvement, Instagram, Pinterest, Social Media 3 Comments

Need to spruce up your current home? Take a look at these Older Home Improvement Hacks and budget-friendly DIY Renovations you can do on your own!

Older Home Improvement Hacks

Older Home Improvement Hacks and DIY Renovation Ideas

We live outside the District of Columbia, in Northern Virginia. Many of the homes here are older. Not as old has our famous monuments, but not far behind (I kid…sorta.) It’s easy to find friends in homes that are a 100 years old and also friends in homes 50 years old.  Some homes are in such terrible shape that they are scrapped altogether and a huge mansion is built on .25 acres of land (did I tell you that land cost more than the value of all of these homes?) Additionally, it’s hard to get more than a postage stamp of land the closer you are to the city.

DIY Renovations

With each showing and new home I visited, I had a Pinterest board on my mind (I love these hidden boards! Especially for an account that is so public!) Every visit, I asked myself what could I do to improve the quality of this home and update it. My in goal was to be able to make each home enjoyable environment for our large family of 7 but also with the intention of “flipping” the house to make adequate profit on any future sale we might have. Pinterest became my best friend for DIY Renovation Ideas.

So this post is, once again, for me. Since my board is hidden, I also wanted to share with you what I learned from a number of bloggers to help you with our own older home improvement. Maybe we can pick up some of these Renovation Hacks together and all improve our home project by project, weekend by weekend.

Older Home Improvement Hack

Cassidy is my favorite and chances are high I might be using her $60 Carpet to Hardwood Stairs Home Improvement Hack. The Serene Sweded on Remodelholic is brilliant!

In older homes, outlets always seem to be in the wrong spot. Hide unsightly cords for under $10 with these burlap cord covers. In this case we also used a tan and white extension cord in case of any peek-a-boo showing (though not necessary, I love this brand of cord and it is so affordable!)

So using a return air grill that is 50 years old is quite gross! I think this DIY Home Improvement Air Vent Idea brings a vintage look to the home. Out with the old (grossness) in with new!

You bet this is on my list. I will be repainting bathroom tiles and improving them with stencils! Repaint your builder grade beige tiles with this Home Improvement Tutorial. All the items you need are included in the Hometalk post.

Bathroom Vanity makeover

Make your bathroom cabinet look brand new for under $50. Follow this DIY Vanity Makeover.

With these older homes cords are all over the place. Either hire an electrification or learn to cut into the wall yourself or try this Quarter Round Cord Hack from Home Depot. Snake your wires through your baseboards.

An updated banister and painted stair rail will pop with just a touch of color. Paint the spindles white and the hand rail black and you will have a classic and clean look for the cost of paint (and your time!) You might consider adding a seagrass rug runner if you are that talented!

Change the warmth of a hallway or living space by painting gray interior doors and changing the hardware.

Sometimes you are blessed with a vintage green bathroom. Don’t worry if money is not in your budget. In this day and age, we are blessed with a Joanna Gaines who gives us three looks for keeping that green tile until you want to paint or replace it.

So fire places are another thing. I love to flip at switch and it’s on, my husband loves to work for his wood and have a wood burning fire place. Most of these old homes favor him and I had to find a good Older Home Improvement White Wash Brick Fireplace Tutorial.

Cabinets are a whole different story for us. They are old and ugly. In some cases you can almost see the multiple layers of paint throughout all the years and home styles. Upgrade Bathroom Cabinets with this Simple Home improvement Idea. Gorilla Wood Glue, wood pedestals, and scrap wood give this bathroom an updated look!

I love plantation shutters, but they were not in the budget (yet.) I was in desperate need of redoing our window treatments. The house we bought had curtains that were from the original purchase – 1960! For this new home, I went with budget friendly window treatments – light and airy IKEA white drapes, black curtain rods and natural bamboo shades.

Some older homes had terrible ceilings. Follow this tutorial for how to Easy Hide a Popcorn Ceiling. Bella Tucker’s entire kitchen and living space was done for under $500 with Styrofoam Ceiling Tiles. Blah to wow!

Turn an ugly bathroom into a spa oasis. Paint Bathroom Title with a Rust-Oleum Tile Transformation kit. Pink Little Notebook walks you through the entire process.

If a full kitchen renovation is not in your budget, simply replace your and reface kitchen cabinet doors with solid wood doors. This completely upgrades the entire look of your kitchen without the price!

Don’t replace the garage door, instead update your garage door by staining it. We recommended this Minwax Gel Stain.

Shutters can completely change the look of a home. Either paint your existing ones or if you don’t have any, make your own home shutters with this tutorial.

The switches. The light switches have touched 60 years of hands. Blah. Replace all old switches with new style switches.

Add towel bars to any of your fake kitchen drawers under the sink. Gotta utilize all that unused space!

Update the outdated half wall. Turn your half wall into a built-in bookcase with this DIY tutorial!

Guess what? You Can You Tile Over Linoleum. Good thing because ours in from 1960! IN all honestly, I will probably get down to the concrete floor first, but good to know!

These updated shower fixtures are new fixtures without the plumbing work. The total cost is only $35!

For many of these Elf on the Shelf ideas, make sure you have an elf that can bend. You can do that easily with our Bendable Elf on the Shelf tutorial.

The Easiest, Funniest Elf on the Shelf Arrival Idea

Balloon Stuffing Tool

It is incredibly easy to do this Balloon Elf on the Shelf idea. No fancy tools are needed. You would not believe how much we paid for this DIY  Balloon Stuffer Machine. It isn’t even a machine, it’s a tool! YOU are the priceless machine.

Only a few supplies are needed to stuff your Elf on the Shelf into a balloon

  • The Elf on the Shelf
  • Christmas Balloons (find a set that has a clear balloon, we ordered this Christmas Balloon set)
  • Optional: Black Sharpie
  • Optional: Chocolate Candy (we used Reese’s Cups)

Now for the two magic gadgets, your Balloon Stuffing Tool and Hand Held Balloon Pump (you guys, you will want this pump for so many reasons – we used it to blow up my daughter’s birthday balloons!)

  • Balloon Stuffing Tool (aka canning funnel)
  • Hand Held Balloon Pump

The best part of these tools if you have an entire year to make incredibly affordable and easy balloons filled with gifts! Fill with candy, dollar bills rolled up, small presents and more!

Balloon Stuffing Tool and this Elf on the Shelf Hack

How to Stuff a Balloon with Elf on the Shelf

These step by step directions will teach you how to stuff a balloon with Elf on the Shelf. Two important things worth sharing. First, this is incredibly easy. Like really easy. Plus the balloon stuffing tool is incredibly affordable so it won’t break the bank. Second, if you do this Elf on the Shelf Balloon idea, you will officially be the Elf on the Shelf queen. You kids will love it and you will have moms in envy wondering “how did you do that?!” You will of course, send them here and be like “you guys, it is so easy!” Now that we have your conversation down, let’s get to the tutorial.

First, grab a balloon and begin to stretch it. Pull on the neck, pull on the body of the balloon. You have to fit an Elf inside your balloon, so it needs to be stretched.

How to Stuff a Balloon with Stuff

Second, using your Balloon Pump, put the neck of your balloon on the neck of the pump. Begin pumping up and deflating your balloon a few times. This is, to again, stretch the balloon so your north pole visitor fits.

How to Stuff a Balloon with Candy

Third, remove your balloon from the balloon pump. Wrap the neck of the balloon around your Balloon Stuffing Tool (aka canning funnel). Pull the neck of the balloon, up the neck of the canning funnel. Pulling the balloon up as much as possible will help you fit everything into the balloon.

How to Stuff a Balloon with Gifts

Next, you have the option to add chocolates to the inside of the balloon to give the balloon weight. Honestly, it didn’t help us very much. Elf still moved around. The chocolates are a fun treat for your child, however, when they pop the balloon to help Elf out.

How to Stuff a Balloon with Elf on the Shelf

Next, we took our Elf and folded it into itself. Similar to the way it arrived in the box. It’s arms wrapped around it’s folded legs. We began to slide the bottom of our Elf on the Shelf into the balloon until the entire bottom, legs, arms and body were in the balloon.

Elf on the Shelf Idea with a Balloon

Then we worked the rest of the balloon up the face of Elf by removing the canning funnel. Only the tip of Scout Elf’s hat was sticking out.

Balloon Elf on the Shelf Idea

We slid the neck of our balloon pump into the balloon and began to pump. Inflate the balloon enough, not too much or it might pop before morning arrives.

Tie off the neck of the balloon. Using a sharpie write “help me” or “I’m Back” on the outside of the balloon.

You are amazing! You did this easy Elf on the Shelf idea and it looks like it was incredibly hard!

Elf on the Shelf Ideas for Arrival

Elf on the Shelf Arrival Ideas

This idea is perfect for an First Night Elf on the Shelf Idea. We shared many Elf on the Shelf Ideas for Arrival, but we think this one is just adorable. It’s as if Elf floated down from the North Pole inside a balloon. You can use a Sharpie Marker and write “I’m Back!” or “Help Me!” on the outside of the balloon. We filled up other balloons around Elf and kept the clear balloons as the balloon Scout Elf chose to arrive in.

A few other ideas for arrival include…

  • Hot Air Balloon Elf on the Shelf Balloon Arrival
  • Elf is a Thanksgiving Turkey
  • I’m Back Elf on the Shelf Sign

Elf on the Shelf Christmas Tradition

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. The elves return to their home (Santa’s North Pole Work shop) every Christmas Eve. An Elf’s Story can also be found on DVD.

Baking Hacks – Oven Liners

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

September 30, 2019 by Frugal Coupon Mom Filed Under: Amazon, Hacks, Online Shopping Leave a Comment
