Christian Easter Crafts – Resurrection Gardens

Why do we celebrate Easter? As Christians, we celebrate Easter because it recognizes the RESURRECTION of Jesus. Jesus was killed by crucifixion on a Friday (Good Friday) and then actually came back to life on the following Sunday (Easter.) Easter is often adorned with bunnies, eggs, and pretty dresses, but there are many ways we can still incorporate the “cute” things of Easter by not forgetting the reason for this season.

Before you get started, be sure to save this Easter Games List PDF for gatherings large and small, family Easter parties, youth groups, neighborhood playdates and more. See more Easter Games for Kids.

Tell the Easter story to kids with these easy-to-read Easter Bible Verses printable PDF. Download 40 short Easter scripture cards to ready daily with your family. Read in the ERV translation, they make understanding the resurrection of Jesus simple and clear.

Easter Bible Verses Printable

If you’ve been a Christian awhile, you likely know the story of Jesus’s life and death. Sometimes knowing the story to well, makes it a challenge to know where to begin.

For our family’s next set of scripture cards, I wanted to focus on a joyful season. While there is mourning in the story of the death of Christ, there is joy in his resurrection.

In order for these cards to meet the needs of all our family, I focused on the translation. In these ERV (easy-to-read) Easter Bible Verses for Kids, the Easter story is told in a format children can follow along and understand.

Easter Bible Verses for Kids

What makes these 40 cards set apart. These Easter scripture cards are in the ERV translation.  The easy-to-read Easter bible verses for kids clearly explain the Easter Story. They focus on the life of Jesus, his death, resurrection of Christ, and the Gospel message.

The main focus in the forty cards for Easter are Christ being raised from the dead and accepting Christ. There is very brief focus on the death of Christ.

Key People In the Easter Story

In understanding the Easter story, share with your child some of the main characters.

  • Jesus – The son of God. Rose from the dead on the third day.
  • Judas – Betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
  • Thomas – One of Jesus’s followers. Did not believe Jesus rose from the dead until he saw and felt his wounds.
  • Mary Magdalene – A friend of Jesus. One of the first to see the tomb was empty.
  • Disciples –  Also known as the 12 Apostles or Jesus’s followers.
  • Pontius Pilate – The governor who gave permission to execute Jesus of Nazareth in Jerusalem.
  • Soldiers – Responsible for Jesus’s death. Also guarded the tomb where Jesus was buried.

You can explain these characters to your kids before sharing the Easter scripture verses.

Short Easter Bible Verses

In this Easter Bible Verse Bundle are forty scripture cards to explain the Easter story.

These ERV story sequencing cards are grouped to give a brief history of Jesus and share about his betrayal, his death, and give living hope in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Lastly, in summary, the set include the message of the cross. These bible also include Bible verses that summarize the Gospel and lead followers to accept Jesus as your savior.

Making Cute Cupcakes For Kids with Fun Designs: Mom and Kids Bonding Time

If you are thinking of a fun way to spend time with your kids or planning to have a quality time with them on the weekend, then look no further. Nothing beats bonding with your children with a little baking fun. Not as complicated as making Easter Bunny Bread. Just making simple cupcakes so that the kids can join the fun.

Instead of laying around on the couch all day on movie marathons, doing something together in the kitchen is productive and really fun. You get to have your children learn a thing or two about baking and give them a sense of accomplishment once they see and taste the result of your teamwork.

For starters, I will give you two recipes for cupcakes. One is for oven cupcakes in which you can also use a convection oven, and one is for microwave cupcakes. And then, I’m going to provide you with instructions on how to decorate the cupcakes using fun ideas. Before you get started, also check out our Easter Resurrection Cupcakes. Both are very easy to do.

Give your kids some tasks along the way and make sure that they are hands-on with the decorating. Don’t forget to give them pointers about safety and sanitation.

Easy oven cupcake recipe

Ingredients

  • 250g butter, unsalted
  • 250g sugar
  • 250g flour (self-raising)
  • 4 medium-sized eggs
  • 4 tbsp. milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 12-cup muffin tray lined with paper cupcake cases

Directions

Preheat the oven to 200°C

In a large bowl, put the butter in to beat until it softens. Add the flour, sugar, salt, milk, and eggs. If you want to make chocolate cupcakes, use two tablespoons less flour and replace it with two tablespoons of cocoa powder. Whisk the mixture until it is smooth.

Use a spoon or an ice cream scoop to put a portion of the mixture to the paper cases. Make sure to put just the right amount each case to fill all the 24 cases.

Place the cupcakes in the oven and bake. After fifteen minutes,  swap their places and bake for another three to seven minutes or until the cupcakes have light golden color.

Take them out of the oven and let the tray cool for a few minutes. Then take the cupcakes to a wire rack to cool. Now they are ready for the decorations.

But before we go to decorating, I’ll give you the recipe for microwave oven cupcakes.

Easy microwave cupcake recipe

This cupcake version is easier and faster to do. The challenge here is to be successful in preventing the kids from eating the ingredients before the cupcake gets done. You will see why soon enough.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of full-fat vanilla or chocolate ice cream, depending on your preference of flavor. (I told you it is going to be a challenge for the kids not to eat it up)
  • 2 tablespoons of cake flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder
  • Silicone cupcake molds

Directions

For starters, be sure to use cake flour and not all-purpose flour. It makes the cupcake drier and have a bread-like texture rather than cake.

Put all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk it until the batter is smooth. Make sure that there are no chunks of flour visible in the batter. Put it in two medium-size or four small-size cupcake molds. Put them in the microwave about thirty seconds. Set aside to cool and be ready for the decorations.

Here comes the fun part! I have three kinds of fun decorations to do with your kids. If you want to look for more, you can search fun and easy ideas here.

Rainbow Decoration

Everyone loves rainbows! Especially kids. This is very easy and fun to do.

Ingredients

  • Your favorite frosting
  • Blue food color
  • Rainbow berry candy belt (like Airheads Xtremes)
  • Small white marshmallow (optional)

Directions

First, put a few drops of blue food coloring to your frost. Mix and add until it reaches a pale blue color. Apply it on the cupcake.

Bend a rainbow berry candy belt and stick the ends to the frosting. You can add small marshmallows as clouds to the part where the candy sticks.

Your rainbow cupcake is done.

Bunny Decoration

This cupcake topping is a bit more challenging than the first one, but cuter as well. This is good for Easter or for kiddos who just can’t get enough of our furry little friends.

Ingredients

  • White frosting
  • Brown M&M’s minis
  • White marshmallows
  • Pink decorating sugar or pink sprinkles
  • Pink ball sprinkle
  • Black licorice laces

Directions

Put the white frosting over the cupcake. This will be your canvas for the bunny face

For the ears, cut a marshmallow in half. Add the pink sugar or sprinkle on the center area of the cut part avoiding edges. Do this on both of the marshmallow halves. Place them on the top part of the cupcake where the ears should be.

For the eyes, use the brown M&M’s minis and put them where the eyes should be.

For the nose, put the pink ball sprinkle on where the nose should be.

Use the black licorice laces for the whiskers. Put three on each side.

Your bunny should be looking at you right now with its cute chocolate eyes.

Mustache Decoration

If you want to let your kids give their good old dad a treat for father’s day or for his birthday, then this is an easy and fun thing to give him.

You actually have three options here. You can use toothpicks and construction paper, fondant and icing writers, or chocolate molds.

Ingredients

  • Frosting
  • Fondant, Chocolate mold, or construction paper and sticks
  • The mustache mold which you can download here from Queen.com

Directions

Put the frosting on top of your cupcake. You don’t have to download the mustache mold if you’re going to use the chocolate mold. Just put the mustache mold directly on the frosting.

If you prefer to use sticks and paper, print out the mustache mold, and put it on the construction paper. Cut away the mustache and put it on one end of the stick with glue. Make sure that the end won’t stick out on top of the mustache. Stick it on the cupcake.

If you’re going to use fondant, get black and white ones. Make small round white ones with the same diameter as the cupcake. This will be your canvas for the mustache. Use the printable mold as a pattern for the mustache using the black fondant. Cut it out using a paring knife or a kitchen shear.

Wait till daddy sees your masterpiece.

There you have it. Two easy recipes for cupcakes, and three easy decorating tips for you to choose from. This will definitely make your weekends fun and exciting. If you know someone that needs this recipe, go ahead and like and share. What do you think? Feel free to comment below for any questions or suggestions.

Ready for the bunny to visit? Enjoy these Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs with marshmallows before he comes. Dip these hot cocoa bombs in warm milk and out pops mini fruit flavored marshmallows. Just like bunny tails, only rainbow style!

Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs

Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs with Surprise Marshmallows

So we all know that hot cocoa bombs are all the rage right now. If you look on Pinterest, you will see so many different kinds, colors, and themes. We decided to get really creative recently and came up with some Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs!

These sweet treats are beautiful with all their bright colors. They are {almost} too pretty to eat, especially with those Spring themed sprinkles on top.

And they are delicious when dropped into a cup of warm milk. Rather than using your normal white marshmalllows, we filled our chocolate bombs with colorful, fruit-flavored marshmallows. It’s an extra treat, if you aren’t expecting that flavor.

Make a batch of these Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs for your kiddo’s Easter basket, or send them to school for a special treat for the teachers.

The best thing about these bombs is that they can be made any time of year, not just at Easter. You could make them for a unicorn themed party even!

Make sure you take a look at our other Hot Chocolate Bombs Recipes while you are here!

Pretty Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs

Prep time: 30 minutes
Setting time: 4 hours

  • 1 12-ounce package white chocolate chips
  • 1 packet instant cocoa mix
  • 1 cup mini fruit flavored (rainbow) marshmallows
  • ¼ cup Spring sprinkles (mine are Great Value brand from Wal-Mart)

They are a variety of Spring and Easter Sprinkles you can use. We used Great Value brand from Wal-Mart, but look at these other options.

  • Easter Sprinkles (sprinkles with bunny heads and carrot shapes)
  • Sprinklefetti Easter Sprinkle Mix Pastel (sprinkles and sixlets in a metallic pastel coloring)
  • Easter Sprinkle Mix for Baking (A mix of sprinkles, sixlets and adorable Easter bunny heads)

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 12-ounce package white chocolate chips
  • 1 packet instant cocoa mix
  • 1 cup mini fruit flavored (rainbow) marshmallows
  • ¼ cup Spring sprinkles (mine are Great Value brand from Wal-Mart)
  • 6 cups hot milk to make the bombs

Instructions

  1. First, place the white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate chips are fully melted.
  2. Put a spoonful of melted chocolate inside one cup on the silicone mold and use the back of the spoon to spread the chocolate up the sides of the mold. Continue this process until all the molds are coated.
  3. Set the remaining chocolate aside for sealing and decorating the bombs.
  4. Allow the chocolate to set completely, around 2 to 3 hours. You can speed up the process by placing the chocolate in the refrigerator.
  5. When the chocolate is set, remove each of the chocolate pieces from the mold. Add a small amount of instant hot cocoa mix to half the pieces and top the hot cocoa mix with marshmallows.
  6. Reheat the chocolate in 15 second intervals until melted. Pick up an empty chocolate piece and dip the edges into the melted chocolate. Carefully place it on top of a filled piece and lightly press it into place. Use your finger to smooth melted chocolate around the seam. Continue until all the chocolate bombs are sealed.
  7. Drizzle the chocolate over the top of the bombs and decorate with Spring sprinkles.
  8. Allow the chocolate decorations to set before using, around 1 hour.
  9. To make the hot chocolate bombs, place the bomb in the bottom of a mug. Pour one cup of hot milk over the top of the bomb to melt the chocolate. When the chocolate is completely melted, stir to combine.

April Fools' Day Candy Grapes

April Fools’ Day Candy

Supplies:

  • Small Bunch Green Grapes
  • Foil
  • Permanent Markers in Assorted Colors
  • 1 bag Easter Candy with foil wrappers
  • Optional: Plastic Eggs

How to make a Easter April Fools' Joke

Directions:

  1. Cut 2 ½” X 2 ½” squares from the foil. Cut out as many as you would like to make. Have one square per grape you intend to wrap.
  2. Use the markers and color one side of the foil squares with Sharpie Markers and let dry for a few minutes.
  3. Unwrap the Easter candy from the decorative foil, be careful not to rip the wrappers. Flatten them out a little so the wrinkles aren’t too bad.
  4. Using the foils from the purchased candy and the foils you made with Sharpie markers, wrap one grape into each foil. They should look like the little chocolate eggs in the foils you can buy at Easter time.
  5. Put them in a dish (or Easter Egg) and serve them.
  6. Everyone will think they are getting a chocolate candy, but they will be unwrapping a grape.
  7. Now just say “April Fools!”

Optional: Place chocolate covered grapes in plastic Easter eggs.
