DIY Valentine Shirt Using Permanent Maker

Make an adorable DIY Valentine Shirt using Permanent Marker! You won’t believe how easy this is to create! There are so many options with colors and patterns but, we think this double heart is perfect! Use a cookie cutter for the pattern and fabric markers to outline the shape in dots. As long as the kids have a steady hand, they can create their own personalized shirt. Have fun!

Supplies:

Plain White T-Shirt
Tulip fabric markers (red, hot pink, light pink, purple)
Heart cookie cutter
Cardboard

Directions:

Lay your shirt flat.
Place a piece of cardboard inside your shirt to prevent the marker from bleeding through.
Place your cookie cutter on the front center of your white shirt.
Hold your cookie cutter still with one hand, and begin dotting around the cookie cutter with your markers.
You will want to color lots of dots directly around the cookie cutter and a lot less as you go further way from the cookie cutter.
Switch colors and repeat steps 4-5 (do this 4 times).
Let your shirt dry for 24 hours, and your shirt is ready to wear and wash as these fabric markers are permanent.

Valentine’s Day Heart Pound Cake Recipe

Looking at this photo overwhelms you, huh? I bet you are thinking that this is going to be one of those Pinterest “fails.” Follow these sure no fail directions to create the ultimate surprise for your Valentines – I bet your family will be surprised when they cut into this Hidden Hearts Pound Cake.

Cake Ingredients:

2 boxes Pound Cake mix
1/2 cup Butter softened
4 Eggs
1 1/3 cup Milk
red food coloring

Glaze Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
2 tbsp Milk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350.
Spray loaf pan with cooking spray.
Prepare your first pound cake following box directions. Add food coloring to get good pink color in batter.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes (about 10 less than box directions.)
Let cool on rack for an hour.
Remove cake from pan and refrigerate for several hours.
Slice cold cake into slices no thicker than your cookie cutter.
Use cookie cutter to cut heart shapes from each aand stack to side.
Prepare the other box of pound cake mix following box directions.
Spray loaf pan with cooking spray.
Pour 1/4″ of batter in the bottom.
Place your heart cut-outs down the middle, keeping them straight and together.
Pour remaining batter over the heart cut-outs in the pan. Ensure it gets down the sides and covers the top. (Yes, There will be a lot of batter left!)
Bake according to box directions.
Let cool on rack for an hour.
Remove from pan and place on platter.
In a medium bowl, put powdered sugar and slowly add milk until desired consistency is reached.
Drizzle icing over cake and serve.

Easy-peasy. Most importantly, enjoy!

DIY Gift Wrap Box Tutorial – Present Made from Reynolds Wrap Box

Not only are they thrifty-but these boxes are a perfect size and shape for filling with Christmas goodies. Rescue your aluminum foil, and saran wrap boxes from the recycle bin and put them to work for you-creating a lovely and unique gift. A simple but thoughtful gift for a teacher, hair dresser, dog groomer, neighbor, as a hostess gift or put one in the mailbox to thank your faithful mail carrier. You can fill it with small cookies, candies, nuts, mints, clementines or it would even be a fun for a child filled with small toys. This would also make a great project to include your child in creating- use plain brown shipping wrap and let them color, stamp or place stickers to cover the box prior to wrapping.

Supplies Needed:

Aluminum or Plastic wrap box
wrapping paper
ribbon, raffia, or string
tissue paper
glue stick
scissors
2 brads

Directions:

Start by removing the blade from your box.
Lay the box on wrapping paper, loosely wrap and cut the paper so that it is slightly- about 1” longer than box all around.
Spread glue all over the top flap of the box.
Press paper onto box, smoothing out all air bubbles- leaving excess paper inside the box that reaches into the “cavity” of the box, where your treats will go.
Glue the next section of the box, and continue all the way around, pressing out the bubbles as you go.
Glue the inside flap and again press the paper down.
Fold the box ends inward, like you would a present, as in the photo-secure with glue.
Use a hole punch to make a hole in the center of the top flap, and close to the bottom at the base of the box.
Insert a brad and secure it by spreading the tines open.
Place a layer of tissue paper in the bottom of the box.
Fill box with desired filler.
Tie ribbon or raffia to one brad to secure it, wrap around the other end several times to hold closed.
Top with a bow and gift tag to complete your gift.
