Getting started with a Cricut Machine can be intimidating. If you are like me you have a dozen crafts and projects you would like to design but when you first get your machine, you stare it frozen with where to begin. Add your own images is one of the first steps you will want to do when first exploring your machine. Doing these 10 steps will help you feel comfortable with your machine. The steps are simple but the accomplishment makes you feel like you actually took the first step in becoming comfortable with your new vinyl machine.

Cricut Image Tutorial:

Adding your own images in Cricut Design Space is very easy and will have you going on new projects and having fun with your Cricut in no time.

1. First, open your Cricut Design Space. Once you have it open you will see the Upload Images tab on the left side. Click the tab.

2. This will take you to the upload image page. Click on the Upload Image tab as shown.

3. You will then you will be prompted to click the BROWSE button to upload your image.

4. Once you upload your image check the Simple image option. Then click the CONTINUE button.

5. Using the magic wand button as show, select the areas around your image. This will tell your Cricut to cut around your image.

6. Once all the areas around the image you want to cut out is cleared, click the CONTINUE button.

7. You will now be prompted to Save as a Cut image. Once checked click the SAVE button.

8. Your image will be added to your Uploaded Image Library. Select your image and then click the INSERT IMAGES button.

9. Now you will make your image the size you would like it to be cut. Using the DOUBLE ARROW button drag your image to your desired size.

10. Your image is now ready to be cut out. Click the GO button to begin cutting.

Don’t let your Cricut machine sit around — I’ve rounded up the best easy Cricut tutorials and free SVGs for Cricut that will take you from beginner to expert in no time!

Scroll through these Cricut tutorials to learn how to upload your own images, how to monogram, how to save all your new (and old fonts), how to transfer vinyl, free SVG cut files, and much more. What can a Cricut machine do?

Essentially, the Cricut machine lets you cut materials like vinyl, cardstock, and leather. In fact, the Cricut Explore machines can cut through over 100 different materials! It’s incredibly handy for a variety of crafting projects. You can connect your computer to the machine to upload Cricut SVG files that will tell your machine which designs to cut out. Simply upload your design, fasten your material of choice to the machine, and with a press of a button, your Cricut will cut out the design!

5 Minute Science Experiments for Kids

When I think about all the exciting experiences I had in school, it doesn’t matter how long I’ve been out of the classroom — it sparks a passion in me to pass that love of learning onto my kids. One of my favorite ways to do so is to find the best fun science experiments that I can share with my children. Rather than them spending their time behind a screen, these fun experiments for kids are a productive use of their time. Since they’re so quick, they’re super easy for mom to put together. Everyone’s happy!

With three kids, I’m always pressed for time and I always have my hands full. After discovering that experiments for kids at home don’t have to be a hassle, I’ve been on the hunt since for fun experiments for kids that are also super quick! These five minute fun experiments for kids have been just as enjoyable for my children as they are for me to witness.

Make it an event on a rainy day — you could even grab some inexpensive lab coats and goggles for your kids to really make them feel like experts! It’s also a great and educational theme for your little ones’ next birthday party. The other parents will be surprised they didn’t think of it first, and impressed to boot!

Muffins with Mom Printable Invite

Hi five to muffins with mommy. I loved this celebration with my little kids every time it rolled around during the season of Mother’s Day. Below are some free printable invites for Muffins with Mommy. Fill out and enjoy. We suggest printing them and using a glue stick to paste them to cardstock or construction paper to boarder the outside.

We also wanted to provide an easy chocolate chip muffin recipe, in case dad is in charge of  recipe or two! We love this chocolate chip muffin recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup almond milk (or regular milk, we like almond)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 vegetable oil
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Optional: white sugar and brown sugar.

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Line your muffin pan with cupcake liners or baking cups.
  3. In a bowl, combine flour, half of the sugar, baking powder, chocolate chips, and salt. Mix well.
  4. In a separate, larger, bowl, place milk, oil, and egg. Whisk together.
  5. Slowly place your dry ingredients and mix into your wet ingredients until dry ingredients are moistened.
  6. Fill your baking cups a little over 3/4 full (not too much – we like them to be large, but not over flow!)
  7. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until slightly brown on top.
  8. Enjoy

Optional: Combine 3 tablespoons sugar to 2 tablespoons brown sugar and place on top of the muffin before baking.
