The Dollar Tree is amazing low-cost location for crafting supplies and there are plenty of different things you can make. Enjoy these Dollar Store Crafts and Hacks using unusual one-dollar items.

Dollar Store Crafts and Hacks

Make your Dollar Tree finds look like a million bucks! The Dollar Tree has hands down the most affordable crafting essentials. They are honestly the most overlooked store, in my opinion. With tons of home goods, kitchen utensils, organization materials, and crafting products, there’s really no limit to what you can create! We’ve organized a great list of some of the most imaginative DIY Dollar Tree crafts. I can’t believe the supplies these creative bloggers used to turn dull into extraordinary! Best of all, they all are frugal… but they look expensive.

Why are things so cheap at Dollar Tree?

It’s no secret, things are just cheaper at the Dollar Tree — it’s literally a dollar (well, mostly). Dollar stores acquire cheap, liquidated goods, so you can still get the low price without them going out of business. As for crafts, there are tons of options for your kitchen and home DIY Dollar Tree crafts. They’ve got lamps, vases, cups, forks, spoons, knives, organization materials like dividers and binders, and even things for your bathroom! At the Dollar Tree, and at pretty much all dollar stores, there are DIY options for any room in your house!

What can I make out of Dollar Store items?

The Dollar store is an amazing place for cheap craft items. This is of course because everything is a dollar (well a $1.25 – darn you, Dollar Tree – well can you blame them?) While Dollar tree has a small, eclectic $1 crafting supplies section, they have much more than that. I you can think outside the box and walk up and down the aisles with a bit of creativity, there are plenty of things you can make out of Dollar store items. Grab storage containers, plates, vases, and spray paint and let the fun begin.

These Dollar Tree Craft Ideas include…

  • Elf on the Shelf Props
  • Halloween Crafts
  • Christmas Crafts & Decor
  • Home Organizers
  • Easter Crafts
  • April Fools Day Pranks

In addition to these fun seasonal decor items, there are plenty of other ways to get crafty with the Dollar Store.

DIY Dollar Tree Crafts

There are some fantastic ways to upcycle your old decorations and make new ones with Dollar Tree items! It’s a great, easy way to create some chic Dollar Tree decor or even Dollar Tree gifts! DIY Dollar Tree projects are fun to do with your whole family as well. Make some new bedroom decor for your preteens, or even some handprints for your newborn! It’s a great way to explore your kids’ creative side without breaking the bank.

Get crafty!

What’s your favorite way to craft? Are you a DIY life hacker, a paint-by-number painter, or an advanced DIY pro? DIY Dollar Tree Craft ideas cater to all of your creative needs while staying on the affordable side. It’s amazing what you can do with a few bucks and a crafting guide. Upcycled Craft | Jellyfish Water Bottle

This is a fun upcycled craft for the kids. Reuse an old water bottle and cut it down to create this fun jellyfish water bottle. We luckily didn’t have to buy anything because all the supplies were laying around our home. We love the blue and orange contrast but you could have fun create rainbow legs with pinks, yellows, greens, oranges, blues and more. This is a fun idea for Earth Day on March 20th. We also think it’s a cute idea to take into the preschool classroom for a summer craft session. Show us how yours turns out. We can’t wait to see!

Supplies:

  • Empty plastic bottle
  • A mix of blue and green craft paints
  • Foam paint brush
  • 1 1/2″ thick sheer orange ribbon
  • Hole puncher
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue/hot glue gun

Directions:

  1. Cut the bottom of your water bottle off, about 3-4″ from the bottom and dry out the inside with a towel.
  2. Use a hole puncher to punch holes every 3/4″ across the open end edge.
  3. Squirt a small amount of blue and green paints onto a palette of a paper plate, paint the outside of your plastic bottle, and let dry.
  4. Cut your ribbon into 12″ pieces, place one piece at a time halfway into a punched hole, and tie into a knot until each hole has a ribbon.
  5. Carefully hot glue two googly eyes onto the front of your blue bottle.

Bunny Easter Craft for Kids

We had such a fun time creating these easy and quick bunny Easter crafts for kids. The steps are simple and you likely already have the craft supplies in your home!

Supplies:

  • Cardboard
  • White fuzzy yarn
  • Googly eyes
  • Pink pipe cleaners
  • Pink Pom-Pom
  • Hot glue/hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Optional: Bunny Shapped Cookie Cutter

Directions:

  1. Draw a bunny head onto your cardboard by starting with the ears, sides of the face, and bottom of the face for an even shape on all sides. You can even use a bunny shaped cookie cutter to trace your cardboard if necessary.
  2. Cut out your bunny with scissors.
  3. Carefully hot glue your end piece of yarn to the back of the bunny’s head and begin wrapping the yarn around the cardboard.
  4. Keep wrapping every which way until your cardboard is completely covered in white yarn.
  5. Once your cardboard bunny is wrapped, cut the yarn, and secure the end of the yarn to the back of the bunny with glue.
  6. Glue your pink Pom-Pom ball to the bottom center of the bunny’s face for the nose and 2 googly eyes right above that.
  7. Cut 6-3″ pieces from your pink pipe cleaner, twist the ends of 3 pieces together to make whiskers, and glue the ends on each side of the Pom-Pom nose.
