It’s always fun to bring the fun flavors of salty and sweet. This Valentine’s Day for a fun Kids Food Craft and Activity, mix the yummy flavor of M&Ms along popped popcorn and melted chocolate – I bet many of these ingredients are found in your pantry!

Bring these along to a classroom party or enjoy as an afternoon snack or dessert for the kids.

Ingredients:

5 cups popped Popcorn
1/4 cup Pink Candy Melting Chips
1/4 cup Red Candy Melting Chips
1/4 Valentine M&Ms

Directions:

Spread popcorn on wax paper lined baking sheet.
Heat Pink Candy Chips by microwaving for 30 seconds stirring and repeating until melted. Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.
Drizzle melted chocolate over popcorn.
Heat Red Candy Chips by microwaving for 30 seconds stirring and repeating until melted. Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.
Drizzle melted chocolate over popcorn.
Spinkle M&Ms over mixture.
Allow 10 Minutes for candy to firm.

DIY Valentine Series – Valentine’s Day Scratch-Off Tickets

In honor of Valentine’s Day I have created a printable for you and put together a quick and simple tutorial to surprise your sweetie or the kids with. These are fun homemade scratch off tickets that can be personalized for anyone, that makes them super fun and this one is for all ages. But I am throwing some ideas especially for the grown ups out there to enjoy. I don’ t think homemade Valentine’s have to be for kids only. For an adult you could write special messages – private messages, IOU’s for special treats or activities, or a promise of a date night. For kids you can fill theirs up with the a promise of a fun activity, 15 extra minutes to stay up, extra dessert, ice cream after school , or even just a simple I love you. Valentine’s and messages from the heart can mean so much , especially when they are made by your own hand. Print off a sheet of these and give it a try.

Supplies

Scratch-Off Printable
white card stock
acrylic paint
dish soap
white crayon
small paintbrush
ink pen
scissors or paper cutter
optional – glitter

Pin it to Pinterest

Directions

Print Scratch-Off Card onto cardstock
Use a pen to write a message on each heart- be creative!
Color heart over completely with a thick coat of white crayon.
Blow off excess crayon dust for a smooth surface.
In a small bowl combine 1 part dish soap to 2 parts paint, stir well- if you are only making 1 or 2 then a couple teaspoons total is plenty of paint mixture.
Paint over heart/white crayon completely with a thick coat of your mixture.
If desired sprinkle paint with glitter while still wet.
Allow to dry well.
Brush off excess glitter.
Present to your valentine with a coin for scratching out message.

I don’t know about you but the red bulls eye pulls me in like some sort of hypnotic siren. I am helpless to drive by without stopping in to pick up cute clothes for my girls, kitchenware or grocery items ( I love their Archer Farms brand). But I can still find ways to save by combining all of Target’s great savings programs! It only seems Target is gettting better and better for the frugal shopper!

First, before a trip to Target I always check out their online printable coupons which can be stacked with manufacturer coupons to maximize savings. I take a buzz through the clearance sections to scope out some more deals. Then I use my Cartwheel mobile app to save even more off select items. Finally, (yes there is more) I use my Target REDcard to take an additional 5% off every purchase I make-in store or online. The savings really add up, and over the course of a year you will be able to see considerable savings!

So What is a Target REDCard? You can use the Target REDcard program in one of two ways:

Target Debit Card:

No Annual Fee
Up to $40 cash back at the checkout
Works like a check, drawing from your bank account
Has secure pin access

Target Credit Card:

Has no annual fee- See important rates and fees
Charge your Target store as well as Target.com purchases
Manage your account and make payments online

There are also exclusive offers that are only available to REDcard holders.

The benefits of having a REDcard:

5% off all purchases
FREE shipping when shopping online
up to 1% of your purchases go to local schools
30 extra days for returns
If you enroll in Pharmacy rewards, you will receive a certificate for an ADDITIONAL 5% off for every 5 prescriptions you fill.

Any savings is good. A penny saved is a penny earned, right. My favorite time of checkout is seeing the final total once I scan my REDCard. I mean 5% off all purchases in store and online – even on sale and clearance items. This is really handy especially on big purchases! After all, Christmas is right around the corner!

If you use your REDcard to shop online at Target.com your shipping is FREE, no minium purchase requirement. This will be great for grabbing the smallest of deals like stocking stuffers! It alone is a great reason to have a card, with the trend to online shopping increasing this is another great way to save some money.

Target has a great give back program when you use the card- You choose one of your local schools and up to 1% of all of your purchases are donated by Target to that specific school. What school do you want to give back to?

Have you ever need to return something but couldn’t locate your receipt-until the return by date was expired? If you use your REDcard they give you an extra 30 days for returns. In addition, I have returned many of items I bought with my REDCard without a receipt!

If your going to be there anyway save yourself a stop and have your prescriptions filled here as well, after 5 prescriptions Target gives you a certificate for another 5% off your purchase!
