It’s a Jurassic party! Young dinosaur fans will love these dinosaur party games. Download, print and enjoy 11 dinosaur-themed activities that will guarantee a roar-tastic party for a birthday guy (or gal) and their party guests.

Dinosaur birthday party games

Dinosaur party games and activities are the perfect way to keep your little ones entertained during your next dinosaur themed party. Dinosaur themed party games seem to bring a lot of joy to kids, so it only makes sense that you would choose this type of theme.

And, with so many great dino themed party games and activities to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect ones for your party. Check out these fun dinosaur party games and more!

How do you host a dinosaur party?

Planning a Fun Dinosaur Party can be intimidating. First of all, the dinosaurs are prehistoric so there isn’t much interms of reference. Second, we all know parties can be costly. I am here to show you how to create a frugal dinosaur birthday party, especially when it comes to the entertainment aka party activities.

If you’re looking for some fun and unique ideas for your dinosaur themed party, then you’ve come to the right place. Here are some great tips to get you started:

Choose a Catchy Name for Your Party

This can be something like “Jurassic Party” or “Dino-Mite Party”. Use fun words like party-saurus, dino-mite, or roar-tastic. Make sure to use catch phrases like “stomp, chomp and roar!”

Make sure to great your guests with very formal names like paleontologists or archeologist. Using these formal titles make you look like a smart, educated and proper party planner. You might even offer your guests paleontologists vests and hats so that the scientific title really sticks.

Pick a Fun Invitation

Your invitation should be eye-catching and inviting. You can even find some great dinosaur party invitations online. While prehistoric snail mail printable dinosaur invitations are always fun, I find the digital dinosaur invitations to be a great option for the 21st century.  You could even grab a personalized dinosaur invite where your child is riding on a T-rex… so unsafe! What will they think of next?

Dinosaur Themed Snacks

You can get really creative with your snacks and have a lot of fun with them. You can have things like “dinosaur bones” (pretzel sticks), “dinosaur eggs” (deviled eggs), or even “dinosaur poop” (chocolate pudding).

Try dino party food ideas like…

  • Cheeseballs can be meteorites
  • Bugles can be dinosaur claws or toe nails (… gross!)
  • A veggie tray can be a herbivore tray
  • Tiny sandwiches can be dino-wiches (… duh!)
  • Guacamole dip can be a swap while the accompanying chips are dinosaur scales.
  • The dessert table can be sweetivores.
  • The chicken nuggets can be Carnivore station (did you know they make dinosaur chicken nuggets?)
  • Blue punch can be a juice lagoon.
  • A dirty cup of pudding and mashed OREOs can be prehistoric dirt.
  • Sugar cookies with dinosaur footprints imprints can be fossil cookies.

It really easy to make common food into dinosaur birthday party themed snacks and recipes that you want to sink your teeth into. See more dinosaur party food ideas in our dino party.

Dinosaur Party Favor Ideas

Don’t forget the party favors! You can send your guests home with some fun dinosaur-themed favors, such as dinosaur stickers, erasers, pencils, tattoos, and candy! Gift these in a cute little bucket.

If you are short on a budget, use some of your dinosaur party décor as potential party favors. This can include the paleontologists vests and hats or tell your guests to “adopt a dinosaur” on the way out. That means they can pick up one of the precious plastic toy dinosaurs that are displayed around the room.

What are some good games to play at a dinosaur party?

Kids part entertainment can be expensive. With just a little planning, it’s possible to have a roar-tastic, amazing birthday party for a low-cost. These budget-friendly dinosaur themed party games are just want you need to plan your next Dinosaur Birthday Party. They include 11 tried and true really fun dinosaur themed birthday party games.

fun dinosaur party games

Now, onto the fun part – the games! Using these dinosaur party games printable you can plan a really fun game! Print out the printable and use it to plan the best party ever. All of these games and more are listed on the printable!

Dinosaur Egg Hatch

dinosaur birthday party game dinosaur egg hatch balloon activity

Blow up balloons and fill them with prizes. Hide them around the house or yard for the kids to find. Once they find the eggs, separate them into teams, and from there you see who can crack all of the eggs first.

How to play: Blow up a lot of white balloons for the dino eggs, filling them with tiny prizes (candy/stickers.) Place them in two separate “nests.” Nests can be made of blankets or sheets swirled up around them. Divide kids into teams, and let them choose a cool dinosaur team name. When the game begins, everyone can sit, stand or whatever they need to do to crack the eggs. The goal is for each team has to crack all of their “dinosaur eggs” first. The first team to succeed, gets the larger prize. All players can keep the smaller prizes.

Supplies: White balloons, blankets, small prizes.

Dancing Dinos

dancing dinosaur freeze dance party game

Like to freeze dance? This is a great game for younger kids. Put on some fun music and let the kids dance around like dinosaurs. You can even give them props, such as dinosaur tails or hats.

How to play: Play some upbeat (dinosaur) music and let the kids dance crazy. When the music is paused, each child must freeze like a fossil/frozen dino. If anyone is caught moving, they’re out. Last one standing is the winner.

Supplies: Music.

Egg Relay Race

dinosaur egg relay race party game

For this spoon races game, you will need two teams and two baskets. Put a hard-boiled egg in each basket and have the kids race to see who can get the egg from their basket to the other team’s basket first, without dropping it.

How to play: Hard boil eggs to look like dino eggs. Divide teams into two for this relay. The first person in line has a spoon and egg. Every other player has a spoon. Each person with a spoon and egg must carry the egg on the spoon to a designated spot and back. As soon as the player returns to the line, he or she passes the egg to next person in line. Continue until everyone gets a turn . If the egg drops, return to your line and start over.

Supplies: Eggs, spoon.

Hot Dinosaur Egg

hot potato dinosaur water balloon party game

Just like the game “hot potato”, except you’re using a water balloon. Play the music and when the music stops, whoever is holding the water balloon is out.

How to play: Just like the classic game hot potato. Pass a water balloon around the circle and whoever’s holding it when the music stops is out! Play until there’s only one person left.

Supplies: Music, water balloons.

Dig for Treasure

Dinosaur fossil dig birthday party activity

Fill a sandpit with treasures, such as plastic dinosaurs, for the kids to find. You can even make it a competition by seeing who can find the most treasure in this dinosaur dig in a certain amount of time.

How to play: Fill a kiddy pool (or sandbox) with sand. Add beach shovels and small brushes. Similar to a dinosaur egg hunt, burry eggs (prizes) in the sand pit and allow kids to dig for buried treasure. Give each child a dinosaur party favor bucket or bag to hold prizes.

Supplies: Baby pool, sand, shovels, fossils, small brushes, eggs, small plastic dinosaurs, dinosaur birthday party favors, bags or buckets.

Grab the dinosaur-themed birthday party games printable (below) so you can get the complete list of games and activities. These five dinosaur games are just a small sampling of the many great dinosaur party games and activities that you can do with your party-saurus and his/her party guests.

Shhh, don’t blow it (pun intended!) Gift the person who has everything a party. These Surprise Birthday Party Hacks and Ideas will help you pull of the biggest secretly planned party that the guest of honor and party guests will love.

Surprise Birthday Party Hacks and Ideas

Does anyone else like giving surprises more than receiving them. Perhaps its the little bit of “control freak” in me. I really like to know what is going on but really like to surprise people with gifts, events, outings, etc.

What is a Surprise Birthday Party?

A secretly planned party for someone who is not told about it until he or she arrives. Typically when the guess of honor arrives, the crowd yells, Surprise!

Surprise parties are especially great for the person who has it all! The best gift you could give them is to gather all their friends and family together in one room. Everyone is there for them!

Planning a surprise party can be a little bit intimidating.  The key word is planning. If you are not a planner, step aside and fine someone who is.

First, you have to do everything you can to make sure the guest of honor does not find out. That can be a challenge, especially with technology today! It’s important to plan ahead. I suggest talking to all guests instead of sending out a mass invite. If you are talking to your guests, you can remind them how important it is that the party is kept a secret.

The day of the party, make sure you line up a chauffeur. Have someone drive them so they can’t bail on the location all together. Can you imagine if they texted you replying “they were too tired to go out tonight!” that would be a disaster.  When I had my sweet 16th surprise birthday, I tried to change the restaurant at the last minute. Luckily, my mom (my driver) would not let me change restaurant locations. You could also have the party at home. Everybody makes it home each day, no?

Before the guest of honor arrives, make sure you have parking under control. They will likely recognize cars so use side streets or additional parking lost. You could even bus people back and forth to the party.

Have a way to say “Surprise!”  Have huge balloon drop, noise makers, or even face masks with a photo of the guest of honor! Enjoy these Surprise Birthday Party Ideas and hacks. Let us know how it goes!

We love celebrations! Also take a look at our Retirement Party Ideas, Family Birthday Celebrations, and Half Birthday Party Ideas – for those 6 months to 100 years old!

Best Things to Do at Hersheypark + Win 8 Hersheypark Tickets

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

What are some of the best things to do at Hersheypark? From roller coasters to great eats, enjoy Hersheypark hacks and tips plus how to get Hersheypark discount tickets.

Hershey Park Hacks

In the adorable small town of Hershey, PA sits one of the sweetest places on earth – Hersheypark.

As many of you know, Virginia has been our home for over six years. I can’t believe it took us this long to find the place where milk and honey chocolate flow. This past weekend we entered the park’s gates and spent the best weekend enjoying food, rides, entertainment and more.  As a girl born and raised on the outskirts of Orlando, I turned to my husband on the last day of our trip and said, “our kids are not missing out!”

Hersheypark will fill the heart of any theme park lover. Whirl your way into some fun but don’t let it come a chaotic whirlwind. We have you covered with some tips and tricks before your travels.

Get ready to learn about this slice of heaven in the heart of Pennsylvania.

What is there to do at Hersheypark?

I hate to sound cliché, but this question must really be turned around. What is there NOT to do at Hersheypark. From great eats, roller coasters, shows and more, Hersheypark offers entertainment for children of all ages – that includes you mom and dad! Enjoy theme park rides, create your own chocolate, eat some of the best bites and prepar to be amazed as we look at the many things to do in Hershey, PA.

Hershey’s Chocolate World

Looking for something free to do in Hershey, PA? Visit Hersheypark Chocolate World. Located next to the park, unwrap your chocolate cravings with a Chocolate World’s free Hershey’s Chocolate Tour. When visiting Chocolate world, you can also create your own one-of-a-kind candy bar, shop Hershey gifts and souvenirs, or enjoy world-famous milkshakes and bakery treats.

Hersheypark chocolate world family

Chocolate World is open year round and located next to Hersheypark. It’s a great way to get a taste (pun intended) of Hershey without entering the park.

Roller Coasters

If you have a thrillist that loves a good roller coaster, there is something for everyone – from toddlers to adults.  Be sure to try Hersheypark’s new ride, Candymonium®. Located at the park entrance, this roller coaster ride is the tallest, fastest, longest, and sweetest coaster in Hersheypark.

Speaking of coasters, it’s important to know how your child measures up. Located in the park is a ride height chart.  For your convenience, each ride also has measuring sticks and lists eligible riders.

Hersheypark Height Chart

Hershey Miniatures: under 36″
Hershey Kisses: 36″ – 42″
Reese’s: 42″ – 48″
Hersheys: 48″ – 54″
Twizzlers: 54″ – 60″
Jolly Rancher:  60″ and taller

To give you a general idea for young children, my 3 year old twins were Hershey Kisses, my 4 (almost 5 year old) was a Reese’s and my preteens and adults were Jolly Ranchers.

You can find a Hershey Park height chart measuring station all around the park. Each ride also has a measuring stick – so no sneaking on rides you are not “allowed” to ride.

As the parent who often had the youngest kids (while the bigger kids experienced the fastest, most exhilarating coasters), I found plenty to do. There was something around these “big kid” coasters that the younger kids could do. From games, to smaller rides, my toddlers did not feel left out at any time.

Hersheypark Rides

hersheypark rides

The park offers man classic amusement park rides including wooden roller coasters, water log rides, tea cups, ferris wheel and a carousel.  For our family, founder’s Way was great for Hershey Miniatures, Hershey Kisses and Reese’s. When exploring outside of this area, the Hersheypark app was great for viewing a park map, looking at ride wait times and getting directions to your next location. Loops, twists, turns, and thrills were found in every directions and something for the entire family and each age group was mostly available throughout the park.

Some of our favorite coasters included…

  • Trailblazer – this was a  family coaster all my kids qualified to ride.

One benefit of staying at a park hotel is getting to the park an hour before it opens. If you area park expert, this is great because you can race to the rides that typically have the longest lines or perhaps just enjoy the park with fewer people.

Where is there to stay at Hershey? Visit the Hotel Hershey, the Hershey Lodge and also the Hersheypark camping resort. If you have a home on wheels or want to experience a bit of cabin life, check out Hersheypark campground.

Yardzee is such a fun way to get the family up and moving. The game consists of 13 rounds to see who can get the highest score, but you have to score once in each category. It’s so easy to make your own dice for this game using 4×4 blocks of wood. Put them in a bucket to jumble them all up. Get your score cards. | A Turtle’s Life for Me

Jenga is one of our favorite games for family game night, and this Giant Jenga will make playing outdoors way more exciting. It’s easy to make this yourself with 2x4s and some paint. Just watch your toes when the blocks come falling down! It would make a great DIY gift for a family that likes to play games. Just don’t let the tower fall! | A Beautiful Mess

Cornhole is popular at family reunions and festivals for good reason—it’s a blast! It’s a great way to get people of all ages mingling because adults enjoy playing just as much as the kids do, and people get so competitive. You could even get a cornhole trophy to pass around each year to the champions! Corn hole boards are easy to find online or you could make your own cornhole board. | Scrappy Geek

Get the plans to make this DIY backyard bean bag toss, complete with a board and mesh cups to catch the bean bags. Make one before summer, and your kids will have a fun activity to do with their friends outside all summer long. The boards will be great to have on hand for other outdoor family functions, too. | Thrift Diving

You can’t get much more all-American than football… except for maybe this football toss! The concept is pretty simple—toss the football through the holes to score points. The smaller hole is more points, of course. This is one for all ages to enjoy. | Cherished Bliss

Kids and adults alike will love this Outdoor Tic Tac Toe game. It’s a bigger, outdoor-friendly version of the classic game. All you need is a wooden plank and some flat rocks to make your own tic tac toe board and game pieces. You could even use a larger board to make your own Checkers board. | Sustain My Craft Habit

If you watched The Price is Right growing up, you’ll remember Plinko. This DIY Plinko game is just as much fun, and it’s easy to put together with foam board, glue, toothpicks, and a few other simple materials. You don’t even need power tools to make this game! | Happiness is Homemade

The 3 hole washers game is a lot like cornhole, except that you only score points when the washer lands completely in one of the holes. The first team or person to 21 points wins the game. This DIY Cornhole Game another great choice for reunions or camping. | My Crazy Good Life

This giant beer pong game is lots of fun. With big red buckets instead of Solo cups, it may just take you back to your college days. But don’t fret if drinking games aren’t your thing… this is kid-friendly despite the name and would be a lot of fun for the whole family. Stack for easy storage before you put away. | Drugstore Divas

Get your neighbors and friends to join you in a friendly bean bag toss in the yard… no serious DIY skills required. You can either buy bean bags or make them yourself. The clay saucers serve as your targets. Space them out as far apart as you like to see who has the best aim. | Mod Podge Rocks

Who doesn’t love to play the match game? It’s been a favorite since childhood, and it’s simple enough that everyone understands how to play. Kids will have hours of fun matching the giant cards again and again. | Studio DIY

Make some DIY giant dominoes for the family to play with. If you think that all you do with dominoes is stand them up and knock them down, think again! You can read the real rules of dominoes here, but there are so many ways to play with them. And if you DO want to line them up just to knock them down, go for it! | Lemon Thistle

Add this rainbow paver hopscotch game to your backyard to let the kids get some exercise whenever they’re feeling a little restless. You can color coordinate them with your outdoor space if you’d like, but the rainbow colors look so fun. | Happiness is Homemade

Have you ever heard of Kubb? It’s also called Viking Chess or Skulls and Femurs. Sounds pretty tough, right? The game is actually loads of fun once you learn how. Each game requires 2-6 players, and the game goes by quickly, so it’s easy to rotate people in and out if you have a crowd. | Our Handcrafted Life

This ring toss game is extremely portable, so it’s a good idea to take it with you wherever you’ll have a bunch of kids playing together outdoors. Again, this is a simple game that toddlers and preschoolers can play as well, so it’s perfect for all ages. It’s also pretty inexpensive to make. | Mom Endeavors

This DIY ladder golf game, or ladder ball, is easy to assemble or disassemble, making it a wonderful choice for camping trips with the family. The poles come apart and can be laid flat for easy transport and storage. Toss the bolas (the balls tied together) at the rungs of the ladder. Each rung is worth a certain number of points. In ladder toss, the first to 21 without going over wins! | Homemade Heather

If you’ve never played pick up sticks, you’re missing out! It’s an easy game, but it can be so much fun, especially when you’re playing with kids. The object of the game is for someone to drop the bundle of sticks, and then you take turns picking up one stick at a time without moving any others. It’s harder than it sounds. If you move any other sticks, your turn is over. | Delineate Your Dwelling

Get twisted up and tangled up in a game of backyard bubble wrap Twister. You can find large rolls or sheets of bubble wraps on Amazon or sometimes in the moving and packing supplies at your local home goods store. Use one of the large sheets to make a fun game of backyard twister. Use paper plates to trace the circles and color them in. It’ll be a hoot listening to the bubble wrap pop as you play. | Chica Circle

Don’t forget we have a fun shaving cream Backyard Twister Game in our Visual Summer Bucket List Ideas.

Nearly every Southerner has played horseshoes at least a time or two in his or her life. It really is entertaining when you play as pairs. You can easily build your own horseshoe pit in the yard to play this fun game yourselves. And yes, you do need a pit to stop the horseshoes. They’re quite heavy, and you don’t want them flailing along the ground very far! Turn your own backyard into a game pit to paly time and time again. | Creatively Southern

For another cheap and fun game to play with a group of kids, this bowl bean bag toss is perfect. This reminds me of the Grand Prize Game on the Bozo the Clown show. What fun! | One More Moore

Of course competitive games, always need a winner. Declare a winner or victory amoung the opponents with some of these fun trophies or MVP medals. What’s your favorite outdoor game?

Have a Buzz and Woody fan at home? These low-cost Toy Story Party Ideas, birthday decorations, easy recipes and more create the most memorable celebration!

Can you recall the first time you saw Toy Story? You want to know something terrible, I can’t. I know I was in 8th grade and age 14, but I don’t recall seeing it for the first time. I do, however, recall this movie and these characters being apart of my life – like for a long time. I can tell you my favorite scenes, I can recite quotes and embed them into my every day jargon, and I can surely inspire my kids when it comes to dressing up for Halloween (did you see our family costume?) or getting ready for Toy Story 4.

Since I had the twins in 2017, Buzz and Woody have taken on an entirely new meaning. I love dressing the boys alike but I also love allowing them to be their own unique self (as long as it coordinates – right, mamas?!) In an effort to prepare for their next birthday party, I put together these creative Toy Story Birthday Party Ideas.

Make your own Zoo Animals Fingerprint Art with these step by step directions. Lions, Tigers, Snakes, Monkeys, and Giraffe step by step fingerprint animals thumbprint art tutorials.

Zoo Animals Fingerprint Art Tutorial for Kids

Are you looking for a quick and easy science lesson for kids? What about a fun craft activity for kids? How about a mix of both!?

If you are looking for a cute craft and activity for kids, why not quickly explore fingerprints while creating a bit of fun fingerprint animals with your child.

What animals have fingerprints?

Before you begin a fingerprint activity, make sure you know a little bit about the background of fingerprints. Fingerprints are the tiny ridges on the edge of a finger. They are essential the folds of skin that create a unique print to primates. In addition to human men, women, and children, there are a few animals that are closely related to homo sapiens (aka humans) that also include fingerprints on the tips of their hands. Gorillas, chimpanzees and koala bears have fingerprints that are almost identical to human ones.

Other animals have paw prints. Paw prints can come in set of three, four or five pawprints.

Extend the lesson with a microscope. Using an inkpad, put human fingerprints on paper and place the paper under the microscope. Study the ridge patterns and notice that each human print is unique!

Now that we have learned a little bit about fingerprints, let’s have fun with human fingerprint arts and crafts for kids…. of course, incorporating animals!
