pajanimals

Do you have kids who LOVE the Pajanimals?  I do!  My four year old watches them almost daily!

Spring will soon be sprouting and the Pajanimals are here to help you prepare to Spring Forward officially at 2:00am on Sunday, March 10th – tomorrow morning!

Losing that extra hour is not be easy, especially if  you have young children, who have trouble adapting  to change.  But, follow these tips courtesy of Certified Sleep Experts from Sleepy Planet: Jennifer Waldburger and Jill Spivack, and your friends: the PAJANIMALS, from The Jim Henson Company and Sprout and you will be better prepared for this transition with those little ones!

  • The Night Before  – On Saturday March 9th, turn clocks AHEAD 1 hour before going to bed! If your child normally sleeps till 6:30 AM, the next morning he/she might be sleepy until 7:30 AM.  The entire schedule – naps and bedtime – will then shift one hour later. If you’re happy about this change, great!  Just protect your child’s room from too much light in the early morning, and use white noise so they won’t wake with the birds.
  • If you’d rather help your child get back to the usual schedule, try the following:
      • Set your alarm for 6:30 AM (according to the new clock) and wake your child at this time.  To them, it will feel like 5:30 AM and yes, they may be cranky and tired, but their body will soon get used to the new schedule.
      • Put your child down at the normal nap time (if they are still napping) according to the new clock and resume a normal schedule from there.  Don’t allow a nap longer than usual.
      • On Sunday night, put your child down at their usual bedtime according to the new time.

Additionally, Sproutonline.com offers many Pajanimals’ games, activities and content to help your child navigate through their bedtime routine, including:

        • An all-new Pajanimals Daylight Savings-themed activity page
        • Tips on easing your child into dreamland
        • Make your own dream catcher
        • Watch the fun, Pajanimals’ video “How Do I know If It’s Morning Time” (linked above as well – about 3 minutes long)

Make time today to go over all of this fun information with your younger kiddos today so they know what to expect!  I find that a good conversation with them about what is going to change helps too!

    Thanks, Pajanimals!

whats-for-dinner

Menu planning is one of those things that I often think I don’t have time to do; but really I don’t have time not to do it.  Inevitably if I do not plan, not only are we rushing around to get dinner on the table but I am more likely to spend more money on groceries because of poor planning and no clipping.  I am also more likely to either serve my family a so-so meal instead of a balanced one OR buy dinner out!  Both of those equal more money spent, which I obviously not what I am a fan of!

So, grab this FREE Menu Planner today and get those meals planned!

sophia-first-dvd

Have you been loving Disney’s Newest Princess, Sofia? If not, you are missing out and don’t. This little gal has a kind heart, is friendly, loving, compassionate and teaches wonderful morals and values!

Check out Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess now reduced to $13.86 from $19.99!

Set in the storybook world of Enchancia, the movie introduces Sofia, an average girl whose life suddenly transforms when her mother marries the king and she becomes a princess, Sofia the First. Sofia must learn to navigate the extraordinary life of royalty while holding onto her own hopes and dreams. Her journey to be the best she can be also paves the way for those around her to realize how special they each are. Cinderella makes an appearance in the movie to offer Sofia some words of wisdom, princess to princess. Sofia’s royal adventure begins as she prepares to move into the castle with her mom, starting a new family with her step-father, King Roland II, and step-siblings, Amber and James. Helping Sofia in her journey are the three headmistresses of Royal Prep Academy – Fauna, Flora, and Merryweather (the beloved fairies seen in Disney’s classic Sleeping Beauty), and royal steward, Baileywick, as well as a group of cute woodland creatures led by a wise-talking rabbit, Clover. Sofia soon discovers that looking like a princess isn’t all that difficult, but displaying honesty, loyalty, courage, independence, compassion, and grace is what makes one truly royal.

I was able to review this DVD and it really introduces you to this new character in her first 1 hour show. There are new shoes each Saturday on Disney Junior. I would have to say my only complaint about this DVD is it is only the first episode, I wish they had more to show than just that!

Easy Valentine Burlap Wreath for $10!

Update: This tutorial has been updated here – Easy Valentine Wreath Tutorial!

valentine-burlap-wreath-tutorial-frugal-coupon-living

I made this wreath last week for Valentine’s Day this year and I love it!  It was so easy and CHEAP.  AND, you’ll see that you could use it for Christmas too  – so two wreaths for $10! I got all of my materials at Hobby Lobby in two separate trips so I was able to use two 40% off coupons.

IMG_2124

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 or 2 wire hangars (I used two and wired them together) – FREE
  • 2-3 yards of Red Burlap – $5.98 (use 40% off coupon – download the mobile app for free to make this super easy)
  • Letters ‘X’ and ‘O’ in Chipboard – $2.49 each.  I used a coupon for one so paid $3.49 total.
  • Two sheets of scrapbook paper – $.59 total (on sale for 50% off)
  • Ribbon – already had on hand
  • Mod Podge – already had on hand

Here’s what to do:

IMG_2129

  • Stretch your hangar into a circle or unhook it to put two hangars together.  I just overlapped mine to the desired size.

IMG_2127

  • Lay the fabric out flat and measure 5″ widths and cut.

IMG_2131

  • Begin putting the fabric on the hangar going back and forth until the whole strip is on.  Repeat until the hangar is full.  IMG_2132
  • Twist the hanger back together to close.  I had to get more fabric later because all they had was 1 1/2 yds!   You will want it to be much fuller than this!IMG_2123
  • To make the letters, lay the scrapbook paper face down and glue the letters on using the Mod Podge.
  • Once dry, trim the paper around the letters with an X-Acto knife, then Mod Podge the surface to seal and provide a shine.
  • Glue the letters together with hot glue and then glue the ribbon onto the back.
  • Loop over the top of the hangar and add a bow to cover.

IMG_2137

  • Voila!  When you want to use it for Christmas, just take off the Valentine letters and add something festive for Christmas or just a different bow and you’re all set!

Try it and let me know how it turns out!  I plan to make one for Easter too!
