Toilet Paper Bunny Tutorial

Have company coming over this Easter season? How about adding Peter Cottontail to your bathroom as a fun display. Place in baksets around the home or add something cute to a child’s bedroom. You will love this easy step-by-step TP Easter Bunny Craft!

Supplies

1 Roll Of Toilet Paper
2 Sheets White Tissue Paper
1 Sheet White Construction Paper
1 Sheet Pink Construction Paper
1 Black Marker
2 Plastic Eyes (Dollar Tree as a whole bag for $1)
Hot Glue
3 Cotton Balls

Directions

Lay the two sheets of tissue paper flat on the table. One on top of the other.
Set the roll of toilet paper in the center of the tissue paper with one hole at the top. Carefully tuck the ends of the tissue paper into the hole. Slowly work your way all the way around, until all the tissue paper is tucked in your bunny’s body.
Now take your cotton balls and slightly pull them apart, so that they are nice and fluffy. Add three small dots of hot glue around the hole with all the tucked in tissue paper. Place the cotton balls on all three dots. This should now be covering the opening and creating the tail for the bunny.
On the other end glue the plastic eyes about a half inch down form the edge of the roll.
Cut out a few strips of white construction paper to make whiskers. Also cut out a oval shape nose from the pink constriction paper. Hot glue these at the center of the hole. Even with the opening being covered you will be able to slightly see it. Add a dot of hot glue and then lay the whiskers down first and then the nose.
Take your black marker and draw a line under the nose making a J facing both ways.
Last we need to make the ears. This can be a bit trickier and you can do it differnet that I have.
Take the white construction paper and fold it in half. Then cut out a long oval shape that is flat at one end. By having your paper folded you sould end up with two ears after cutting. Fold them so that there is a cress down the center lenght ways. Now at the end of a slit about an in long. Then add a fold at the top of that slit. Fold the two pieces over. Then fold a fold at the top of that slit. Fold the two slit pices over each other, making somehting similar to the corner of a box. Tuck the ends of those pices up and down to lock them in place.
Now on the top of the roll just above the eyes, glue an ear. Make sure that the boxed edge we made is facing the oppostie side of the eyes so you cannot see them when looking at the face.
After they are glued in place carefully bend them over and glue them to the back end with a small dot of hot glue.

Hidden Hearts Pound Cake – Valentine’s Day Treat

Looking at this photo overwhelms you, huh? I bet you are thinking that this is going to be one of those Pinterest “fails.” Follow these sure no fail drections to create the ultimate suprise for your Valentines – I bet your family will be surprised when they cut into this Hidden Hearts Pound Cake.

Cake Ingredients:

2 boxes Pound Cake mix
1/2 cup Butter softened
4 Eggs
1 1/3 cup Milk
red food coloring

Glaze Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
2 tbsp Milk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350.
Spray loaf pan with cooking spray.
Prepare your first pound cake following box directions. Add food coloring to get good pink color in batter.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes (about 10 less than box directions.)
Let cool on rack for an hour.
Remove cake from pan and refrigerate for several hours.
Slice cold cake into slices no thicker than your cookie cutter.
Use cookie cutter to cut heart shapes from each aand stack to side.
Prepare the other box of pound cake mix following box directions.
Spray loaf pan with cooking spray.
Pour 1/4″ of batter in the bottom.
Place your heart cut-outs down the middle, keeping them straight and together.
Pour remaining batter over the heart cut-outs in the pan. Ensure it gets down the sides and covers the top. (Yes, There will be a lot of batter left!)
Bake according to box directions.
Let cool on rack for an hour.
Remove from pan and place on platter.
In a medium bowl, put powdered sugar and slowly add milk until desired consistency is reached.
Drizzle icing over cake and serve.

Easy-peasy. Most importantly, enjoy!

Pink Valentine Heart Pancakes

Use your boxed Bisquick Recipe and add some red food coloring drops for a fun twist on this February Breakfast Food Craft activity!

Ingredients:

2 cups Original Bisquick® mix
1 cup Milk
2 Eggs
Red Food Coloring
Heart Egg or Pancake Mold (as seen HERE and HERE)

Directions:

Stir Bisquick, Milk and Eggs together in a bowl.
Place half the mix in a measuring cup (for pouring).
Slowly drop food coloring into the half remaining int he bowl. Stir until desired pink is achieved (only a couple drops are needed – no not go to heavy with coloring.)
Place the pink mixture into a different measuring cup for pouring.
Lay the heart mold on the heated skillet. Slowly pour in the heart less than 1/4 cup of pancake mixture.
Cook until edges are dry.
Carefully lift the heart mold and turn pancake over with a spatula and cook until golden.
Continue until all mixture is used.

Note: You can also make regular (circle) pancakes without the mold.

Easy and Frugal Valentine Burlap Wreath Tutorial

I made this wreath last year for Valentine’s Day and I love it! It was so easy and very cheap. I got all of my materials at Hobby Lobby in two separate trips so I was able to use two 40% off coupons.

Supplies:

1 or 2 wire hangars (I used two and wired them together) – FREE
2-3 yards of Red Burlap – $5.98 (use 40% off coupon)
Letters ‘X’ and ‘O’ in Chipboard – $2.49 each. I used a coupon for one so paid $3.49 total.
Two sheets of scrapbook paper – $.59 total (on sale for 50% off)
Ribbon – already had on hand
Mod Podge – already had on hand
X-ACTO Knife – already had on hand

Directions:

Stretch your hangar into a circle or unhook it to put two hangars together. I just overlapped mine to the desired size.
Lay the fabric out flat and measure 5″ widths and cut.
Begin putting the fabric on the hangar going back and forth until the whole strip is on. Repeat until the hangar is full.
Twist the hanger back together to close. I had to get more fabric later because all they had was 1 1/2 yds! You will want it to be much fuller than this!
To make the letters, lay the scrapbook paper face down and glue the letters on using the Mod Podge.
Once dry, trim the paper around the letters with an X-ACTO knife, then Mod Podge the surface to seal and provide a shine.
Glue the letters together with hot glue and then glue the ribbon onto the back.
Loop over the top of the hangar and add a bow to cover. Ta-da!

Try it and let me know how it turns out! I plan to make one for Easter too!
