Hippity, hoppity, ~~Easter~~ April Fools’ Day is on its way….

Ready for some foolish, silly Easter fun? We have a very cute idea to celebrate both Easter and April Fools’ Day! Did you realize that this year, 2018, they both fall on the same day – April 1st. Well both Easter and April Fools’ are two of our most favorite holidays on Frugal Coupon Living. Have you seen our Innocent and Playful April Fools’ Prank Ideas? That being said, we knew we had to come up with something creative to merge the two holidays this year.

This Easter Sunday, unwrap some Easter chocolate and replace with grapes! This is a clean, bunny approved April Fools’ Prank Idea. Another way to take this idea the extra ~~mile~~ bunny run, is to place your wrapped foil grapes in Easter Eggs and send the kids on an Easter Egg Hunt. This is sure to buy you at least 20 minutes of sipping that mimosa. These treats won’t melt, even if you are experiencing a warm Easter Sunday.

April Fools’ Day Candy

Supplies:

Directions:

Cut 2 ½” X 2 ½” squares from the foil. Cut out as many as you would like to make. Have one square per grape you intend to wrap.
Use the markers and color one side of the foil squares with Sharpie Markers and let dry for a few minutes.
Unwrap the Easter candy from the decorative foil, be careful not to rip the wrappers. Flatten them out a little so the wrinkles aren’t too bad.
Using the foils from the purchased candy and the foils you made with Sharpie markers, wrap one grape into each foil. They should look like the little chocolate eggs in the foils you can buy at Easter time.
Put them in a dish (or Easter Egg) and serve them.
Everyone will think they are getting a chocolate candy, but they will be unwrapping a grape.
Now just say “April Fools!”

Optional: Place chocolate covered grapes in plastic Easter eggs.

Healthy April Fools Donuts

As a mom of five, laughter is what gets us through the day. We love humor. I try to make our jokes and pranks friendly and not at the expense of anyone’s feelings. One of the innocent ways we celebrate April Fool’s Day is with a food prank. These April Fools Donuts are no joke. They are healthy and tasty. The icing is actually whipped cream cheese (or Nutella) and the doughnut itself is an apple.

April Fools Donuts Supplies and Ingredients:

Ingredients

Instructions

First, cut apples into slices.

In the middle, cut a circle around the core, making the apple slices doughnut shaped. (If you have a small biscuit cutter or circle cookie cutter that would work! Otherwise, just use a knife.)

Next, mix 3 tbsp of cream cheese and 3 drops of food coloring per color that you want your ‘icing’ to be. (For chocolate doughnuts, use Nutella!)

Spread the colored cream cheese or Nutella on apple slices.

Lastly, add sprinkles on top!

April Fools Donuts Directions:

I have to laugh a little at this post friends. I am home on bed rest (expecting twins soon) and I have so many projects I want to get up on the blog for you to enjoy. This project has been one of them. My bed rest has limited my creativity on the blog in terms of food crafts and Christmas crafts. First, it has taken me about two weeks to get this post done (normally it is a few hours.) I had the Fleece Navidad Gift Tags sitting at the copy center for a few weeks before I could convince someone in my family to go get them. I had to special order ribbon and wait, no only that that arrive, but someone to get the box from downstairs upstairs to me.

When prepping this post, the mess that was around me was amazing. I was laughing at my creativity in hiding the clutter. The basket I used for my “staging” is used to hold cat toys/food. The white background are my bed sheets and I quickly sat on the floor to get a few additional shots. It just shows the power of photography and some photo shop skills!

Moving along, you too can create this Fleece Navidad Gift. I picked up a Kohl’s Fleece Throw Blanket for $5 from $30. The fleece blankets were mailed to my house so I did not have to go to the store to pick them up. This low price does come every holiday season, normally around Black Friday. However, fleece throws can easily be found for “cheap.”

The Kohl’s blankets are by far my favorite of all the ones I have purchased! They are incredibly soft, huge and come at a really affordable price.

I sent the gift tags to a Staples Copy Center and my mother in law picked them up so I could finish off these cute gifts. We have four blankets all set for our school teachers and Sunday school leaders!
