Elf pets, toy characters, and more. Maybe make a silly line and label something like “daddy” and have the line be really low to the ground. Your kids might find that really silly.

Do your kids play the Floor is Lava? Oh man I hate it when they do because immediately they house becomes a wreck as they try to avoid touching the floor.

How to Play The Floor is Lava

To play the game the floor is lava is as simple as it sounds. Players try to move around the room without touching the hot lava floor (ground.) Sometimes there is a starting point and ending point. As each player goes through the obstacle course, the player who touches the ground is out. If all players make it without touching the ground, the player who gets there first wins.

I just had one of those “why didn’t I think of that idea earlier?” moments. I have been doing Elf on the Shelf for 12 years, 7 years on the blog and this is the FIRST TIME I have thought of this idea.

Want to know how this Noah’s Ark Elf on the shelf idea came up? On a casual morning drive with my boys. We were listening to the Veggie Tales soundtrack and “Who Build the Ark? song came on… then ah-ha!
