How to Set Up The Elf on the Shelf Cannon Ball Dive
This elf idea brings a playful twist to your holiday fun. The key is to make your festive scout look like he’s mid-jump, diving into the sink filled with “pool water” made of blue-colored water. The clear fishing line gives the illusion of your tiny scout floating in mid-air, while the judging elf adds an extra layer of humor. Whether your elf is hanging from a kitchen light or another spot, this cannonball dive will definitely grab the attention of your kids and give them a good laugh.
Supplies Needed for Your Christmas Elf’s Cannonball Dive
- The Elf on the Shelf Doll (x2)
- Cardstock or paper (this is the best cardstock which is perfect for your fun printables)
- Scissors
- Clear Tape
- Clear fishing line or string
- Blue food coloring
- Plastic cup
- Wooden craft sticks
- Markers
Instructions for Staging the Levitating Elf Cannonball
- Start by filling the sink with water and adding a few drops of blue food coloring to create the look of a swimming pool.
- Place a small plastic cup upside down near the edge of the sink. Cut out a small piece of cardstock to act as the diving board and place it on top of the cup.
- Use clear fishing line to tie around your family elf, securing him in a cannonball position. Attach the fishing line to a light fixture or other overhead structure to make it look like your little guy is mid-dive.
- Create a small speech bubble out of cardstock, writing “Cannon Ball!” in the bubble. Attach this speech bubble to the fishing line using clear tape.
- For the judging elf, have a second elf hold up a “10” rating sign. You can create this sign by writing the number 10 on cardstock and attaching it to a wooden craft stick. Position the judging elf nearby, holding the sign up proudly.
- Stand back and admire your festive scout’s impressive cannonball dive, complete with a judging elf and a fun swimming pool scene.
